WASHINGTON (CNN) – Former Sen. Mike Gravel, D-Alaska, told the audience at the CNN Democratic presidential debates that he is happy with the services he gets he gets from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Sen. Gravel served in the military during the Korean war and has experience with the Department. “I get my meds from the V.A. so I know the situation quite well,” said Gravel. He continued to by saying, “I’m satisfied, very much so and I think they do a good job.”

I've been a straight line voting Republican my entire adult life. However, the current adminstration is nothing short of criminal and I embarrassed to say I voted for them. I think Gravel is more in touch with what the American people really want, but I would really like him to be more assertive and garner more of the spot light.

Obama said he proposed funding in the amount of 2 billion for returning Soldiers' health care. Given the estimated cost per day of 250 million dollars, his proposed funding would be eaten up in a week. It was a shocking underfunding of a real healthcare situation for our Soldiers. Ill stick with Richardson for his Heroes Health Card proposal.

The candidates and press confused the issue when they referred to Walter Reade Hospital while discussing the VA. Walter Reade is run by the Department of Defense, NOT the Veterans’ Administration. The VA and the DOD are two very different agencies and such distinction should be made during discussions on the topic of veterans’ health care. The public should be accurately informed on which branches of government is responsible and accountable for their respective hospital facilities.

We need more patriots like Mike Gravel. While the other canidates are on stage pouting over who's war this is the former Senator shows He's the only grown up in the group. Why did Sen. Gravel only get one question in the first hour?

AS A DISABLED VETERAN I HAVE USED THE VA HOSPITAL FOR OVER 38 YEARS. AND HAVE HAD SOME VERY BAD EXPERINCES. WE DO NOT GET THE SERVICE WE SHOULD GET.THE SHORTEST WAIT IS USUALLY 90 DAYS FOR AN APPOINTMENT.

I thought Senator Gravel was the most impressive of the lot. He spoke the truth; he had a grasp of the detail. He is a decent man. But he also seemed a bit over the hill.
He should have made his presidential bit a decade ago.

But you did not print his follow up comments.

It is an Absolute Joke that CNN limited Gravel's time so drastically. Wolf Blitzer spoke almost 3 times as much as a candidate for U.S president was able to. The placement of his seating was also ridiculous compared to the other "major" candidates. Same holds true for Kucinich. Big losers tonight for me would be Hillary and Obama. If anything Edwards has overtaken those two in my view. But as for the winner, I would have to say Biden and Kucinich. Bill Richardson would be a by far 3rd place finisher, but with a little more work, I would consider him with my vote.
