Mrs. Edwards: Wolf did a great job

WASHINGTON (CNN) - In an interview with CNN's Larry King after the debate, Former Sen. John Edwards ' wife, Elizabeth, said she thought the debate provided a great opportunity for the candidates to interact and answer questions important to the American people.

"I thought Wolf did a great job , and I thought it was really important," she said. "That's the thing that's been missing is give-and-take among the candidates. I thought that was really great."

And although their husbands are political rivals, Mrs. Edwards said she is friendly with Sen. Chris Dodd's wife, Jackie. She said they discussed the candidates' responses throughout the debate.

"It's kind of like anything, where you sometimes work with somebody and sometimes work against them, you've got to always have an open relationship with them," she said.

Really great job of limiting certain candidates' time and thats about it. Wolf said if the viewers are able learn who these candidates are and have them express themselves then they achieved their goals. I dont think a majority of the viewers tonight heard Gravel, Todd, or Kucinich as fairly as the others. So no Wolf, you failed tonight. You may have did your best but it wasnt acceptable

I would agree. Wolf did a good job performing as the moderator, although it seemed he asked more questions of the top tier candidates. I felt CNN as a whole did a better job than MSNBC or especially FOX news in their debates. Good job CNN!

The one thing that alarmed me was the apparent willingness of at least one candidate to boycott the olympics in Bejing in 2008!!! DO NOT VICTIMIZE THE ATHLETES!!! because you can't get your way with the Chinese.
One of Jimmy Carters lasting legacy of shame was the outrage he perutrated against our nations athletes in 1980 after they all had worked so hard.
DO NOT USE OUR NATIONS ATHLETES! As ploitical leverage!

I don't like her, I always feel that she is not telling the camera the truth...won't vote for her husband because of it. Gravel easily won the debate.

I agree that Wolf Blitzer did a good job. A very lively debate. John Edward came out as the most aggressive candidate without being offensive. All candidates did well though Mike Gravel came out looking weaker than in other debates.

I heard more from Wolf than those invited to ask the questions. He let Edwards, Clinton, and Obama have too much of the hours' time.

It was a very good debate, but I think Wolf's hypothetical and hand-raising questions were awful and I'm glad the candidates rebelled against them.

This was the most unfair debate I have seen in my life and I'm almost 50. Wolf gave the so called "top tier" candidates much more time than the others. Dodd has more experience than those three combined and he gets 3 minutes the first hour (his own words). Now that's terrible people ! Special interests have us on the brink (every family owes over $500,000 on the debt), the least you could do is give each candidate the same time(including the non special interest candidates). It's seems Hillary is who most of the media pundits wants so that is who we get...You need to use a stopwatch on tuesday nite... THX

I agree, Wolf did a good job of making sure the questions were answered. However, it served no purpose to ask the candiates to raise their hands to give simple answers to complex issues. Elminate this stupidity.

This was my first presidential debate to watch from start to end, and I'm sure it's extremely difficult to talk, ask quesitons, and try to "force" into candidates talking to keep pace with time. With that, Wolf did very well. However, he started asking a few hypothetical questions that got really off topic. I mean "if you would bomb Osama bin Laden if you had a 20 minute window, but kill civilians doing so?" that was ridiculous in my opinion, and I was glad Hillary Clinton stood up and basically told him to stop it... you could see the look on her face before she said it...

Elizabeth is exactly same kind of person with her husband. She said she is happier than Hillary, how dare she could say that? She misunderstood the happiness. I don't think she is qualified as first lady. Actually I don't worry about her because he will not make any position in the future. I hope Hillary remember that he is not trustworthy man.

Wolf Blitzer did not do well in the "Town Hall" portion of the segment. He should have let each candidate answer the individual questions from the people who posed very thoughtful and most often, painful questions. Instead, he superimposed his own, so for one, it made ALL of the candidates look insensitive to the individual´s questions, because the candidates were not allowed to answer and secondly, the questions of the people were simply not allowed to be answered, due to Wolf´s moderation of the 2nd part of the debate.
As to Elizabeth Edwards´s character, I take issue with 2 of those who have responded here. One can disagree with Elizabeth Edwards´s political views and with John Edwards´s, but I find it difficult to see how ANYONE who has listened to Elizabeth Edwards speak, can claim that she is not truthful and absolutely forthright in speaking her opinions.
