WASHINGTON (CNN) — Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colorado, said that he supported the "surge" in troops deployed to Iraq.

But if the US was unable to pacify Iraq, he would tell the Iraqi government that US sacrifice had brought it a republic - and "It is now up to you to keep it."

He went on to say that it was necessary for Iraqis to defend themselves. "I want them patrolling their city and putting they their lives at risk. Then we move out."

If Tancredo would dump this garbage, I'd find him more palatable. I really don't know why he stubbornly insists on following this doomed line of "reasoning."

Tom Tancredo gives the shortest, most direct answers of all the candidates.
His quote from Benjamin Franklin is right on target.

Tancredo is right. It is their country, they need to run it. But how long will he wait for them to step up?

Yes Iraq must keep it's republic, even as we lose our own! Doctor Ron Paul is the only candidate who can give both our nations the Republic that Ben Franklin spoke of , and we all deserve! :)
