Bush calls watch story 'ludicrous'

Bush rolled up his sleeve for photographers Wednesday.

(CNN) – To truly dismiss false reports of a stolen presidential timepiece, a picture is worth a thousand words.

President Bush officially put to rest days of Internet rumors and international reports that his watch had been stolen as he greeted a crowd in Albania over the weekend when, on Wednesday afternoon, he rolled up his sleeves for a photographer, revealing the timepiece in question.

The White House said, indeed, it is the same leather wristwatch he was wearing in Albania.

The picture happened as reporters were leaving an Oval Office event with new White House counselor Ed Gillespie.

According to CNN’s Ed Henry, a Time magazine photographer asked Mr. Bush on the way out, “Do you have the time?”

The president played along and let the photographer snap a shot of the watch.

“I have never seen such a ludicrous story. Unbelievable," the president said.

I have so little faith in this administration that I think even this watch story could be a lie-He probably bought a twin watch. The pictures I saw were clear-Bush had it on one minute and not the next-so unless he took of the watch and stored it in his pocket which no picture showed........

That is NOT the same watch he was wearing in the video shot in Albania. The watch he wore in Albania had a metal wrist band!

If you watch the video, his watch was clearly stolen. Im sure they were able to get another one for the photo op. Funny how scared they are of this story, its meaningless. Now though, its just another Bush lie.

Whats really ludicrous is that you dont see a story, you hear a story.

How do we know when this pic was taken?? Also I would think that the secret service as well as the president would not want anyone to know he was that vulnerable and could not even feel a watch being taken off of him... also why is the public in Albania or other countries allowed to have liberties and be so close to the president.. something not allowed here.. I think there is a lack of security for the president.. security wise.. how is a president (Clinton) allowed to be left alone with a summer intern that is a noone?? Secret service's priority, even over the own presidents desires and lapses in intelligence.. is to protect the president of the US.. I do not believe this story.. I think it is fabricated.. the footage clearly shows the watch being lifted.. don't believe it..

He's never seen such a ludicrous story? The idea that when some pictures show him with his wristwatch and some show him without it, people would then infer that his watch was stolen is "unbelievable?" That's almost as bad as when Romney said he couldn't think of anything more immoral than polygamy.

Same watch? Yeah, right. That's why the White House had to review the tapes.

You can't trust anything that comes out of this Administrations mouth pieces. A watch from the President of the US would be a real prize. Ask NSA why!

This is the most ridiculous story I’ve seen posted on CNN since Paris Hilton was crying on her way to jail-which was just last week.. Are you kidding me, can we not find anything else to write about.

You know, maybe in some "crazy" way to turn a profit the watch company might have made more than one watch. But I am sure we can just go a head and believe George, I mean, he would never lie to us, he's the President!

I am surprised they even took the time to respond to this story, which is a weak move in terms of publicity. This administration is usually good at spinning and realizing which issues it would be the right power move to ignore. Worst of all, the watch was clearly stolen as there was immediately thereafter posted online a definitely real video showing the theft. I suppose though this gets people arguing about him buying a second watch rather than focusing on all the murdering he is causing with his attack of Iraq; so perhaps denial here is smarter than we realize.

I agree with nonsense that this should not be news. But if anything it shows how many vultures Albania has had to and still has to deal with in the future. What I mean is only the nations next door that dislike Albania would even make this newsworthy ,and they did. Instead of people just
    talking about the wonderful visit
people started talking about the watch being 'stolen'.

In reality it wasnt but it gave serbs, greeks, Italians another chance to throw Albania under the bus so they spread this like wildfire(report came from one of the three am sure).

Anything to make the Albanians look
bad. And any negative to make this visit seem less important because in reality they are terrified of a close relationship between the US and Albania.

This does not bode well for Serbs, Greeks who in the past have exploited and stolen land from Albania. It means that now and in the future Albania has a strong ally in the US that may prevent them from poisoning the country which they love to do
    constantly to keep it down.

What about the ring on his finger. It was there and then gone with the watch. Does he not trust the people in Albania to wear his watch and ring for the meeting of the people. Open your eyes to the real reason the ring and watch is missing folks!!!!

Like the White House has been honest about ANYTHING during Bush's regime...his watch was stolen. He's retarded. Are they really expecting us to be stupid enough to believe that they're aren't two similar looking watches in the world? I think it's hilarious. Bush is a theif and a scumbag and so are his only remaining supporters.

hmmm, must've been a Watch of Mass Destruction. Maybe it was never there at all. No surprise here at all, if you'll lie about a war, a watch is a pretty small matter.

And a day and a half later, bush has the watch again! Am I the only person that can relate this to Jesus on Southpark? "And now watch as I turn this water into wine. Here you see a pitcher of ordinary water... now turn around... tu-turn around..."
