(CNN) — On the eve of visits to the early primary states of New Hampshire and South Carolina, probable presidential candidate Fred Thompson stopped by his home state of Tennessee on Tuesday to rally supporters.

The actor and former U.S. senator was greeted at the Nashville airport by roughly a hundred supporters chanting “Run Fred Run” and waving “Fred Head” posters.

“I have always run in Tennessee,” said the former senator. “But these times are different, and to have the opportunity to maybe make a difference in the course of the direction of your country — and to be able to provide some leadership — is something you cannot turn your back on,” Thompson proclaimed.

The crowd responded with cheers and a shout: “The country needs you, Fred.”

Dear CNN. Please stop promoting this trash. I blame the media for this woman…If Fox didn't exist she would not exist. You Validate both by following along. She is a product of the media however you feel about her.

Is he prolife? Is he against embryonic stem cell research? Will he pay Viet Nam the 4. 76 billion dollars we promised in the 70's to get the rest of our guys back? What are his stands?

Just because he's from Tennessee, doesn't mean he's going to get the vote. Gore didn't. Where does he stand on anything? I hope your pockets are deep enough.

Why is this even a story? Why not at least ask Thompson about his stance on an issue that might affect TN's voters? Why is it only 75-100 words? Did CNN run out of newsprint? Is there not enough space on the web? Did CNN perhaps do a study that showed readers could only read 100 words at a time?
