It is very clear this man is all about himself and not for the good of America. First of all, now he is waiting till probably after the August 5th Republican debates to announce that he is running for President because he needs to find out the most popular thing to say about the war. You watch it will be closer to September, because he wants to see if Republicans start jumping ship over this war when more reports come out. Secondly, It is all about money. He is having all these fund raisers with big wigs going on in different cities. He wants to come out as having the most money of all the Republican candidates. HEY FRED, why don't you just say you are running now because you really want to make a change in American and that you really care about the American people, instead of just trying to position yourself for self political interest.

I get so irritated when Republicans start talking about him and how they think he should be the next president, yet they know nothing of his voting record or history when you ask them what they know about him.

I think real conservatives need to take a hard look at Ron Paul. He really is the only person that deserves not only the nomination, but to also be President. Ron Paul has always had the interest of the American people at hand and has never taken a pay off from special interest or lobbyist. Why don't we ask Fred about his record. Wasn't he a lobbyist at one point??? COME ON Republicans!!! Lets wake up! Are we going to let special interest elect another president or are we as individuals going to band together and support a candidate that is looking out for our future?

Why is he so popular? Easy.

He meets all of the requirements of r the narrow-minded and feeble of wit that control the Rebublican party:

1. He is male.
2. He is white.
3. He is older.
4. He is arrogant.
5. He is paternlistic.
6. He is wiser than you, just ask him.
7. He has the voice that makes the NASCAR set swoon.
8. He takes swipes at what he disagrees with without providing substance (Republicans would rather blindly follow than think for themselves.).
9. He puts uneducated red necks at ease.

That is what he is! A clone of John McCain, he did nothing while he was in office, He wants to think he is more like Reagen but the fact is that the only comparision to Reagan is th he two was an actor on the big screen.

Fred THompson, would get destroyed in the primary he is nor more of a conservative the Duncan Hunter or Sam Brownback. Mitt Roney is Liberal so that answers your question. The reason the GOP is falling aprt is because we have a bunch of RINO's that have alternative plans and that is big money from big orgs in their hip pockets.

America better wake up Huckabee is a tru conservative why not look at him

I dont think Fred should run. He really isn't a conservative hero like fox news wants him to be. He makes a great 'vessel' though. A boring, political opportunist and front-man. He did lobby for abortion rights after all, and was a nixon crony. His name on polls is basically the same as "generic republican" or "the other guys stink" because honestly, the other "front-runners" have no dignity at all between mitt-flop romney and rudy "as a person who lived through the events of 9/11" julie-annie. With the SS McCain sinking fast, the only real conservative, principled, uncorrupted republican left who I think is starting to create BIG WAVES is in fact Ron Paul. My fellow Republicans gotta watch this guy, he's really the only true conservative left in the race, who puts liberty first. Remember the name...

In a perfect (political) world I would wholeheartedly support Thompson's candidacy. I think he has strong leadership qualities and an intellect sadly lacking in the current incumbent. However, this being the real world, the Democrats will route Republican candidates next year, and Thompson, if nominated, would go down hard. Hopefully, he and his advisers will see the writing on the wall and announce that he will, after all considerations, not run.

Thompson's got potential, but I still think Giuliani and McCain are the GOP's best chance next November. They've got crossover appeal that Thompson probably doesn't. Time will tell.
