Sen. Hillary Clinton reported $33 million in cash on hand.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The three Democratic presidential frontrunners have amassed nearly $100 million in their combined campaign war chests, almost triple the amount of their Republican counterparts, according to reports filed Sunday night with the Federal Election Commission.

Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards reported having a combined $94.8 million in their respective campaign accounts as of June 30, compared to the combined $33.7 million Republican frontrunners Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and John McCain have amassed.

Clinton lead her field in cash-on-hand with $45.2 million, followed by $36.3 million for Obama, and $13.3 million for Edwards. The reports filed with the FEC did not specify how much of these amounts could be spent during the primaries.

CNN just can't do Math!! Wouldn't it be better if you compare apples to apples. Obama didn't start raising money until this year, whereas Hillary transfer $10M from her 2006 senate campaign. So, let me do the math for you CNN:
HILLARY:
Raised $63M year to date (YTD)
minus $12M (for general election only)
spent - $18M YTD
Debts - $3M YTD
CASH - Debts = $30M for the Primary

OBAMA:
Raised $59M year to date (YTD)
minus $ 2M (for general election only)
spent - $23M YTD
Debts - $1M YTD
CASH - Debts = $33M for the Primary

So, in reality Obama has $3M more for the primary than Hilary; and his fund raising is on the upswing while her has decline from the 1st qrt.

SD   July 16th, 2007 12:00 pm ET

Why is this Ticker post so focused on Hillary Clinton when Barack Obama 1) outraised her overall and 2) has more primary money on-hand?

I guess they call CNN the "Clinton News Network" for a reason.

Stephen   July 16th, 2007 11:48 am ET

Tre Atlanta,

Obama is NOT a Muslim, never has been, never will be. He is not a pacifist either. You need to get your facts straight, and stop getting your news from FOX news or the Clinton News Network.

Ann Dothan Alabama   July 16th, 2007 11:43 am ET

All of the 6 of "top tier" candidates are scrubbed, polished, prescreened and sponsored and the only choice American voters get is which one is the shinniest? What about the Patriot act, our loss of citizen rights, amoral wars, north american union? Nope nothing about any of that from any of the "top tier". So America which one is the shinniest for you? Ann

Glenn,B'ham,Al   July 16th, 2007 11:15 am ET

They owe a lot of people, a lot of favors, to raise that kind of money. Obama seems to raise his from smaller donations. Which means he hasn't sold out to big bussiness.

Tre Atlanta GA   July 16th, 2007 11:00 am ET

It is amazing what people will waste their money on these days. Although I guess it is fitting that their supporters will just hand over money since all of these candidates want to raise our taxes another 15% or more.

These three candidates are not what America needs. We need leaders, not people interested in polls. We need people who understand our present course in history and these three couldn't buy a clue even with all that money they just received.

Hillary is Hillary enough said. You don’t really know what she stands for and just when you think you have it figured out she changes her stance. Very convenient but doesn’t show any character or leadership, and unfortunately her voting record will be her undoing.

Obama scares me because he is such a pacifist I feel he would just give the country over to Muslims if they attacked us here. Actually he is a Muslim because if your father and your grandfather where Muslim you are technically a Muslim so maybe that is why he is so sympathetic to them. That must be why he goes to that crazy cult church with the cleric or pastor that blames America for all his problems. You know you are who you associate with and it says a lot that Obama would seek spiritual counsel with someone like that flake. Obama likes to claim that his religious affiliation doesn’t matter but I think it does a lot because his spiritual advisor/counsel is not only a racist but hates America.

Edwards feels remorse for being successful and somehow wants to be the common man. Give me a break, when was the last time this guy hung out with common people outside of a political rally.

The culture of corruption, at its finest hour.

IC Cheverly Maryland   July 16th, 2007 10:22 am ET

Agreed LYN most other new reports it correctly. Obama has more cash on hand. This is the same as showing just Hillary's picture when she does not even have the most money. It is irresponsible just like calling her the inevitable front-runner. They stopped that after Obama out raised her. Can CNN & ALL news just report the facts and stop trying to pick our next president for us.

Pixie, Murfreesboro, TN   July 16th, 2007 10:19 am ET

Yeah, it appears that CNN is FUDGING THE FACTS… :-)

Lisa S. New York, NY   July 16th, 2007 9:56 am ET

Why is that 100 million dollars can be raised so quickly for a presidential election yet we cannot fund basic services in our country? Imagine if the same passion, commitment and funding were channelled to eradicate poverty, illiteracy and disease. Our country and our world would be a much different place.

Lyn, Silver Spring MD   July 16th, 2007 9:36 am ET

Update your info. Better accuracy is expected from CNN. Cash on hand, Obama 34 Million, Clinton 33 Million for the primary. Everyone else has the info why not CNN. The differnce is General Election money they can't spend.

Lucky,Murrhardt,Wurttenberg,Germany   July 16th, 2007 7:48 am ET

That is awesome truly, but on the other way round it sounds good,as long as they are not gonna get it back fron national pulse.

it's amazing at how many illogical, emotional, adolescent rants have appeared in this stream of comments. so many of you think nothing of jumping to conclusions. it's like a junior high student council election, whether you are worshipping ron paul and dennis kucinich or making snide remarks about john edwards and hillary clinton.
this country will get the kind of leaders it deserves. i can only hope that this crowd isn't representative of the electorate at large.

pitiful.
