CHARLESTON, South Carolina (CNN) – Stop Her Now, an anti-Hillary Clinton political action committee, flew a banner over the Citadel campus on Monday afternoon as the Democratic presidential contenders gathered for the CNN/YouTube debate. The 527 group was founded in 2005 in order to mount an independent campaign against Clinton’s 1996 U.S. Senate re-election bid, according to the New York Times.

It seems to be a new debate tradition. A coalition of PAC’s flew two anti-war banners over the Reagan Presidential Library in May prior to a Republican presidential debate in Simi Valley, California. Both those banners mocked President Bush’s aircraft carrier speech appearance, early in the Iraq war, in front of a sign that said “Mission Accomplished.” In June, the same anti-war coalition flew a banner over the site of CNN’s Republican presidential debate in New Hampshire. That banner suggested that the U.S. might be in Iraq for 50 years.

It was her 2006 re-election bid, not 1996. She wasn't even running in 96.
