(CNN) - When asked if he could pick any Republican to be his running mate, democratic presidential candidate John Edwards named Nebraska senator Chuck Hagel. The same Republican Joe Biden had picked immediately prior to Edwards' turn. But Edwards also used the question to immediately enter a slightly different area with his response. "If you listen to these questions, they all have exactly the same [theme], which is 'how do we bring about big change?'" Edwards said. "I think the people who are powerful in Washington–big insurance companies, big drug companies, big oil companies–they are not going to negotiate," Edwards continued.
