Protester removed from Fred Thompson event

A protester questioned Thompson’s conservatism Wednesday.

HOUSTON, Texas (CNN) – A woman screaming “you’re not a real conservative, sir” was removed by police from a welcoming reception for likely GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson Wednesday morning. A second protester was also taken from the room.

Houston police officers escorted the woman — as well as a man — from the hangar at Hobby Airport, where Thompson was shaking hands with a crowd of supporters. They were not arrested.

The woman questioned Thompson as he talked to reporters. She asked him why he was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and noted that the organization supported the North American Union with Canada and Mexico.

After the woman interrupted Thompson by questioning his conservative credentials, the likely candidate said, “Don’t fuss at me. You asked me a question. Let me answer it.” He told the woman, “I try to learn as much as I can from all viewpoints.”

Later, she shouted at Thompson as the news conference ended. Police officers took her outside a fenced area near the hangar, and stood with her until the former Tennessee senator departed.

Editor’s Note: In the comments section below (#4), the woman has identified herself as a member of the group “Houston 9/11 Truth.” In a video of the incident linked on her blog, she is also heard charging the attack in New York on 9/11 was a “inside job.”

Thats not a very good answer. You can learn about something without being a part of it.

Of course he's not a real conservative. He's another Neo-Con. I've had about enough Neo-Cons.

This guy wants to run for president...and he states, "Don't fuss at me." too someone who exposed this guy for who he is...sounds a little defensive to me. We all know that the neo-cons and the dems would love a North American Union...because the banks and corps would pay them well.

    Vote Ron Paul!

See... I've been (and will continue) telling you people that this guy is a RAT. He's NOT a conservative patriot. He's a sell-out that only cares about money and power.

LOOK UP RON PAULS RECORD! Don't listen to people that tell you he doesn't have a chance. Don't believe that all of his supporters are "kooks" – they're not. Just look him up. Go to YouTube and search for his name – you'll find hundreds of videos that show him talking about the issues.

Finally: He's NOT a "truther". He does NOT believe that the US government conducted the attacks of 9/11 or deliberately allowed them to happen.

There are no more real conservatives. There are just the religious liberals who think God's law and America's law are one and the same and the Party Liners who do not care what your views are as long as you CLAIM to be republican.

A conservative is supposedly in favor of capitalism, and there is nothing more "capitalist" than free markets. It is in fact a "liberal" concept to close markets, tax foreign goods and subsidize domestic goods (like agriculture). If you are a true fiscal conservative, you should be in favor of free markets and global trade agreements. A conservative's ideological opposite, Karl Marx (a communist for those who don't remember), was opposed to free markets and capitalism. Please be conscious about what you are saying when you throw around words and concepts.

All of these candidates are a part of the Council on Foreign Relations:

    Fred Thompson
    Rudy Giuliani
    John McCain
    Mitt Romney
    Jim Gilmore
    Hillary Clinton
    Barack Obama
    John Edwards
    Joe Biden
    Chris Dodd
    Bill Richardson

Keep in mind, however, these individuals are not members of the NAU task force. Bush is also in favor of the NAU. Does this mean Bush is not a true conservative?

The North American Union is a lot more than free trade, it is an erasing of borders between Mexico and Canada. The free trade agreement already exists as NAFTA. The North American Union is sponsored by a left-of-center organization know as CFR. The goal is to have it in place by 2010. This would be a really good issue to investigate as the ripple effect is ENORMOUS. This woman is doing people a favor.

The woman is right. A kook she appears to be, but her questioning of Thompson's conservative credentials are right on target. He is no Tancredo. He managed Mccains 2000 campaign. He is an internationalist. He is quite anti gun.He was pro MCCAIN-Feingold. His wife dresses like a hollywood celebrity, exposing tons of cleavage.

Ladies and gentleman of the jury: Do your homework (wikipedia is a decent source of info on him), and convince me that he is a conservative.

Fred Thompson is a phony. The conservative "Christian" people are lining up to back him but the guy married a chick 20 years younger (trophy wife) and he helped at an abortion clinic. On the other hand Ron Paul has been married for 50 years and is a long time pro-lifer. Why are these "conservatives" backing Thompson?

Fred Thompson has my vote – I always wondered why he never sought election sooner. I don't think any one of the candidates know as much about politics as he does, whether Republican or Democrat. I have been following his career since Watergate.

Depends on how you define liberal. Classical liberals are all for open markets.

To say that you would vote for a guy because he "knows more than anybody else about politics" is ludicrous. Ok, so he knows the ins and outs of the lobbyist regime of thieves in DC. Yeah, what a great qualification that is! Just what we need!

The Bush people are backing this guy – that is ALL you need to know. Run screaming away from Thompson.

Ronny T. says: "This guy wants to run for president…and he states, “Don’t fuss at me.”"

Hey Ronny, that's not the whole quote. What you are doing is selective reading/quoting. IF you finish the quote MR. Thompson says "You asked me a question. Let me answer it."

So the lady was being a jerk and he told her to be quiet and let him answer. What's the problem with that?

Nice. I like it a lot. Let's keep showing Fred that even though he wants to play games with entering/not entering the race, he can't have it both ways. Let's put the heat that all candidates get on him and see if he can take it.

So Fred says he doesn't know about the CFR's work towards the North American Union? (In other video linked above.) That's pretty disturbing considering he is a member. Lou Dobbs has been reporting on the CFR's work towards the NAU for quite some time- this search will help:

The NAU, like NATFA isn't about "free trade" it's about controlled trade by the investment class of this country- just look at how many companies are applying for protection under NAFTA laws. Further, the NAU is about creating tri-lateral country governing bodies whose laws will have supremacy over Americans to further separate them from the control of government on the march to despotism- just look at the power hunger EU for an example.

Fred Thompson has also shown himself to subscribe to the neo-con perpetual war doctrine that is bankrupting this country and gaining us enemies faster then we can kill them.

Because most "conservatives" know the truth about Thompson and know that he certainly did not "help out at an abortion clinic." I guess in your mind he performed those abortions himself!

The real reasons Thompson is getting support don't have all that much to do with conservatism, in my opinion.

What it's about is that the GOP anticipates that Hillary will be the nominee and they think Fred will be the perfect foil for her. Plus, they think he will take the entire south, which probably has some truth to it.

If Obama were the clear front runner I don't think we'd be hearing any talk about Fred. As a great big 'ol Southern white man, it would be very difficult for him to go up against Obama. He'd have to be mighty, mighty careful.

But with Hillary, Fred can represent the traditions of patriarchy and misogyny that are so entrenched in the U.S. And you know the Republicans want people to make comparisons between Fred's trophy wife and Hillary, which would probably work to Fred's benefit among both men and women.

I think the reason so many women dislike Hillary is just pure envy and lack of self-esteem on their part. She does what so many of them wish they could do. She's not perfect, but I admire how she pretty much dominates the debates surrounded by seven men.

    Ray from Sarasota,

The woman wasn't being a jerk. She asked him a question and he began to evade it. She simply attempted to get him to address the question. Him saying "don't fuss at me" was ridiculous – he was looking for a way to get her removed. At that time she was not doing anything wrong. He basically cried wolf so that his aids would get the police to get rid of her.

She asked a VERY valid question. I'm glad she put him on the spot and that we got to see him evade the question. He was actually flustered and desperate for an escape.

Note: I do NOT agree with the 9/11 truth movement NOR DOES RON PAUL. I think that this lady asked a valid question however prior to saying the kooking stuff about WTC 7.

David, Gilbert Arizona says, "Does this mean Bush is not a true conservative?"

YES!!! That is exactly right! GW Bush is so far from a conservative he makes Clinton seem like a fascist.

How many other "conservatives" have tried to change the constitution multiple times to legislate something that should be a decision made by states?

Why has this so-called "conservative" continued to INCREASE the size of the federal government?

Why has this "conservative" continued to increase frivolous spending?

How many other "conservatives" have spent as much money as he has on an "unjust" war?

How many other people claiming to be Christian have pursued an "unjust" war? The concept of a "just war" is an ideal set forth over a millenium ago as a standard for all Christians. Look it up.

The Republican party used to be the party for Christians. We're taking it back. These Neo-Cons won't last for much longer because the true patriots and true conservatives are waking up and fighting back.

Fred never served his country when he could have why not? He sure likes to dress in military cloths. He acts and that is what i beleive is all he will do if elected. Hes a well paid for lobbiest yet he says he is an outsider. Why the contradiction. Regan stirred the trerroist nest to get it going this guy will spread it all around the world. Remember hes has acted a lot but never played a real part that was sucessful. Oh don't be fooled the phrase he is credited with from water gate was coined eairler by another.
