Protester removed from Fred Thompson event

A protester questioned Thompson’s conservatism Wednesday.

HOUSTON, Texas (CNN) – A woman screaming “you’re not a real conservative, sir” was removed by police from a welcoming reception for likely GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson Wednesday morning. A second protester was also taken from the room.

Houston police officers escorted the woman — as well as a man — from the hangar at Hobby Airport, where Thompson was shaking hands with a crowd of supporters. They were not arrested.

The woman questioned Thompson as he talked to reporters. She asked him why he was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and noted that the organization supported the North American Union with Canada and Mexico.

After the woman interrupted Thompson by questioning his conservative credentials, the likely candidate said, “Don’t fuss at me. You asked me a question. Let me answer it.” He told the woman, “I try to learn as much as I can from all viewpoints.”

Later, she shouted at Thompson as the news conference ended. Police officers took her outside a fenced area near the hangar, and stood with her until the former Tennessee senator departed.

Editor’s Note: In the comments section below (#4), the woman has identified herself as a member of the group “Houston 9/11 Truth.” In a video of the incident linked on her blog, she is also heard charging the attack in New York on 9/11 was a “inside job.”

Fred Thompson doesn't take the rudeness that liberals so freely dole out, so when the lady interrupted him while he was trying to answer the question she asked, i would have responded in the same way, especially with how rude and pretentious she was. I want a president that will stand up for himself and not take bullying from people like this woman.

A note on his involvement with the North American Union. How can a person make any change if they are not a part of an organization that affects change. If Fred Thompson is not a part of an organization that has the potential to create noticeable change, how can I count on him to be proactive. Id rather him be a part of an organization and have a hand in how it is run, in whatever capacity, than for him to be sitting on the sidelines and let other people who dont represent my ideals dictate that change.

On Hilary Clinton, since a few of you mention her. She is the most self-righteous, potty-mouthed, lying hypocrite I have ever encountered in my life and I would be doing my female kind a HUGE disservice by even considering supporting her. If you want to know the whole truth about her , read the book "the truth about hillary". it should be very eye opening especially for those of you who support her or are even thinking of supporting her.

Wow..you NUTROOT's can get behind anyone that is serving your purpose and that is to destroy any and everybody who does not agree with your far left, idot, morbid and the sick way you look at America. If it does not fit your agenda, you want to destroy. Well guess what – it ain't happening with Fred nor us (fredheads).

As far as I'm concern, she asked a good question and got a darn good answer. Case closed..let move on to 2/5/2008. I'm ready – so bring it own.

I'm quite amazed at the "anti-Fred" jibber-jabber; we may have to call in Mr. T! Or, Fred Thompson to "pity" those that don't think that he IS a real conservative. Not neocon (whatever the hell that is) or anything of the sort.

p.s. Am I the only one to notice that liberal posters appear to be somewhat short on pith?

all you so-called conservatives who say Bush is not a conservative...why did you vote him in for a second term?!?! He's not doing anything new this term, the lies are just as big, the failure is the same...I don't get you folks. the RTL-ers are sort of sad. they're like a girl who puts out thinking the guy will luv her, when all he wanted was to use her for an easy ride. republicans will never overturn Roe v. Wade.

also, I don't know where some of you get your definitions of liberals or democrats. it seems whenever you want to disparage someone, you label him a democrat. that's funny. just shows how brainwashed you are...you cannot admit that these freaks in office are republicans. Cheney is a made-man republican...and he'll never back the religious right. So is Rummy...who totally mangled the invasion of Iraq. So is Bremer, so is Abrams, Wolfowitz, Perle, Negroponte, Gonzales, Yoo...deal with it. they're your ugly babies.

If this is the best the Thompson distractors have to offer, then he's got the Republican nomination sewn up already.

Some of you people are delusional. Ron Paul electable? Thompson a neo-con? Thompson is a true conservative in the mold of Ronaldus Magnus. Any Republican is better than the Democrat liberals – Hillary, Obama/Osama, or Edwards. Sheesh...

She's obviously a nut case. The frightening thing is that, judging from comments to this story, she's not alone. You people need some serious therapy. So tell me, just who IS a "real" conservative? Ron Paul? GIVE ME A BREAK!!! If you think he has a prayer in hell, you're delusional.

I wonder who you Thompson haters are actually voting for in the primaries and the general election?

You guys are probably closet hillary/obama supporters who are just looking for a scant reason to bad mouth a real threat the the dems in '08.

RE:“A conservative is supposedly in favor of capitalism, and there is nothing more “capitalist” than free markets. It is in fact a “liberal” concept to close markets, tax foreign goods and subsidize domestic goods (like agriculture). If you are a true fiscal conservative, you should be in favor of free markets and global trade agreements. A conservative’s ideological opposite, Karl Marx (a communist for those who don’t remember), was opposed to free markets and capitalism. Please be conscious about what you are saying when you throw around words and concepts.”

What you really descibe here is Corporatism. No global trade agreement should EVER supersede The US Constitution and the powers enumerated and delegated within it. Global trade agreements that weaken the sovereign rights of this nation in favor of global market schemes authored by and implemented in favor of multi-national corporations with no allegiance to this nation are repulsive to freedom, competition and the rugged individualism on which this country was founded. What you endorse is actually closer to Marx than you realize. Instead of heads of governments taking your freedoms it will be heads of governments at the behest of large multi-national corporations!

You fail to note that as she was removed from the hangar, she was shouting, "What do you think about World Trade Center 7...It was an inside job." She repeated herself at least once.

You quoted part of her statements, yet you omit reference of her statement that casts light on her credibility.

I thought CNN was better than that.

    Thanks YouTube.

Wow, judging from these comments, the black helicopter crowd is well organized! The notion that Fred Thompson, GWB, or any other major politician supports political union with Canada and Mexico is right up there in sheer nuttery with the idea that George H.W. Bush is plotting with the Trilateral Commission, the Freemasons, and Skull and Bones to form a world government and steal American sovereignty. Fred Thompson is a mainstream, Reaganite conservative with the intellect, charisma, and experience to take down Hillary or Obama.

Y'all seem to have forgotten something: money is a living thing. It flows with almost total disregard for any single human being, any name, any politico, party, affiliation. Money is alive. The mistake is politicians try to alter its course and only get burned doing so. Few along with their silent worker bees have moderate but momentary success, e.g., Ronald Reagan. If there is going to be a union of countries, e.g., Canada, America, Mexico, it will happen and you can't force it any more than you can stop it. It will happen because it is money-driven.
Keep rattling your chains and make your voice go hoarse but your 30-seconds of fame expired hours ago already...so, in the vernacular of my daughter's generation, "go get a life."

18 years as a slick D.C. lobbyist – influence peddling and seeking to manipulate votes in Congress...hardly makes Fred the type of candiate of change and improve the scandal ridden image of the Republican party.

I don't get it – what am I missing that makes a career lobbyist a good candidate for President???

He has ZERO chance of defeating the Democrats in the general election.

Fred Thompson isn't a conservative, but to the koolaid drinkers who believe in the Left vs. Right fraud, he is, because all these people know is what they heard on TV or read in the newspapers.

Fred Thompson is a CFR-neocon crony, and the CFR from its inception has been working to erode US sovereignty in favor of a one world socialist government headed by the UN. Fred Thompson, in my opinion, is an anti-American traitor just like the rest of them. His fake conservative acting isn't fooling me.

This country is turning into a Soviet-style police state, and to see the way this bold and intelligent woman was manhandled by these jackbooted officers is inidicative of this police state.

Soon it will be a crime to say anything that goes against the government.

    Wake up!!

I am amazed at how many blind voting Democrats have tried to pass themselves off as conservatives in this thread.

Please take note: Liberals are the WORST at trying to pass themselves off as conservatives or objective, no matter what moral values from the Bible they quote.

Fred will get the nomination if he runs and that is what is freaking the left out....

Fred Thomson is an actor. We have enough actors in the house and senate. You cannot trust anyone: and I mean anyone, who belongs to that anti-American "Council on Foreign Relations." Thier true game is to destroy our sovereignty and America's instutions. You want a real man of the people? Vote Ron Paul.

I like how our unbias friend from CNN failed to mention the fact that this woman who we are to believe is some type of die hard conservative is authentic? Please, she's a liberal plant. There are no conservatives who buy into the 'inside job' lunatic conspiracy. Simple enough to omit a direct quote and make her seem like a real person. The plain fact of the matter is that there are no real conservatives anywhere in Washington D.C. and there are none on the horizon either. The entire country has swallowed the bitter pill of liberal self-indulgence and the part of the world watches as the other part prepares to do battle in hopes of our destruction, not only America's destruction but the destruction of our entire system of values and principles which allowed liberal flights of fancy exist at all. We we quibble amongst ourselves as our enemies advance behind us with a knife intended to plung into our backs and all we care about is what party holds power, mythical global warming and celebrities. To quote General Sherman – “If I had my choice I would kill every reporter in the world but I am sure we would be getting reports from hell before breakfast.”

Wow, could CNN be any less forthright? First, the lady is a Ron Paul promoter. Second, she's a freaking TRUTHER. At the end of her own clip on youtube, she starts shouting zany 9/11 conspiracy theories.

She's not a protester, CNN. She's a nutcase truther of the Rosie O'Donnell sort (then again, there was a media blackout of those things, too, instead focusing on her fued with Donald Trump).

Do your homework and stop giving nutcases a platform.
