Protester removed from Fred Thompson event

A protester questioned Thompson’s conservatism Wednesday.

HOUSTON, Texas (CNN) – A woman screaming “you’re not a real conservative, sir” was removed by police from a welcoming reception for likely GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson Wednesday morning. A second protester was also taken from the room.

Houston police officers escorted the woman — as well as a man — from the hangar at Hobby Airport, where Thompson was shaking hands with a crowd of supporters. They were not arrested.

The woman questioned Thompson as he talked to reporters. She asked him why he was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and noted that the organization supported the North American Union with Canada and Mexico.

After the woman interrupted Thompson by questioning his conservative credentials, the likely candidate said, “Don’t fuss at me. You asked me a question. Let me answer it.” He told the woman, “I try to learn as much as I can from all viewpoints.”

Later, she shouted at Thompson as the news conference ended. Police officers took her outside a fenced area near the hangar, and stood with her until the former Tennessee senator departed.

Editor’s Note: In the comments section below (#4), the woman has identified herself as a member of the group “Houston 9/11 Truth.” In a video of the incident linked on her blog, she is also heard charging the attack in New York on 9/11 was a “inside job.”

OK, CNN pulled my first pro-Fred comment, which was in the first 10. I guess their agenda is quite clear (as usual actually).

I made the point that Fred has been very smart with his strategy. He's been collecting money and buzz, while not overexposing himself and making missteps (Obama I'm looking at you). More importantly, his movies and TV shows are still airing. For that reason alone he's wise to wait as long as possible to commit.

Once he declares, I'll be donating. Unless there's a major revelation of some kind, he's got my vote on election day.

"It looks as if the lady was being a bit annoying and whiny, but she has some points and freedom of speech should be respected. More has to be understood about this man if he is to try to run for the nation's highest office. Just who is Fred Thompson?"

The article fails to mention that the man and woman disruptors left together, and had a Ron Paul Bumper Sticker on their car. I guess they had no other ulterior motives right?

Anyone who has researched Fred Thompson knows that he is a strong Federalist. While Thompson will be liked by Social Conservatives, his real platform will be returning the Republican Party to its traditional roots of Less Government and Lower Taxes.

It is obvious that the left is afraid of this guy. RUN FRED RUN!

Ron Paul is a fake. He stuffs appropriations bills with unconstitutional, pork barrel earmarks for his district. He further defends other Congressmen who do the same for their districts. Recently, John Murtha (the king of pork) stuffed an earmark in an approps bill. This earmark was for an entity that didn't event exist! Rep. Jeff Flake (who jock strap Ron Paul isn't fit to carry) courageously introduced an amendment to kill the earmark. And Paul voted against the amendment, thus defending an illegal, unconstitutional, blatant pork barrel earmark for an entity that doesn't even exist!!! Ron Paul people need to put down the Jim Jones Koolaid and get real.

I will bet that you will be able to traqce the protesters to Hillary. Conservatives are not rude like that. To disrupt is a liberal tactic.

I see all the Ron Paul cockroaches are out in force to try and throw a wrench in the process. They can't win, so they'll do anything to degrade all the real candidates. Ron Paul and his band of pea brained zombies are just a bunch of ultra right wing JBS whack jobs. On to victory Mr. Thompson!

The Neo-cons think they are ducking the scruitny of a white house run up... he has done everything but declare his candidacy.

They are going to build him up to be some behind the scenes conservative rock star and hope he slides under the radar into the white house at the last minute on a wave of frenzied fandom.

If he doesnt declare by time the rebs youtube debate in September he should not be allowed to run. As he enters McCain will exit...Mark my words.

So what do I get from this article? Some self righteous bimbo feels it is okay to rude to another person because she disagrees with them? Seems to me that she needs a course on civil behavior before she draws more attention to her lack of social skills at the detriment of her "cause." Grow up, woman, we have enough self important children in this country.

Ok so what makes you conservative then? I read all of these posts and nothing mentions what qualifies as one... I think no one has specifically mentioned certain items because conservative is different than REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT... a conservative is a word that describes one's personal beliefs, while the word REPUBLICAN describes their political beliefs... two completely different things (even thought they sometimes intertwine). Just a young man's beliefs...

You can be sure that whatever happens on the campaign trail (or pre-campaign trail) CNN will give the lopsided left-wing view they always have. My first choice is Mitt Romney. My second choice is Fred Thompson.

Its ok to ask pointed questions concerning 911 being an inside job etc but its when ya start going over board with it where it becomes almost rude. I think when the so called truth movement gets to a badgering point they should be removed and I speak from the 911 truth movement. This kind of engagement only hurts the cause i think.

Alex Jones tends to hurt the truth movment and it saddens me he cant be calm cool and collected when presenting information. Not saying you shouldnt be passionately concerned where the nation seems to be heading. I just think he could reach people even in higher positions of power that would be willing to come forward..but ya see many of those people dont wanna be associated with somewhat radical tactics..screamin like a madman and yelling "We will crush the New World Order" in an almost growling voice. Come on..relax..present the facts and dont fly off the heandle

The North American Union Treaty is going to go through, no matter who's in office....The only way to stop it is to vote in neither Rep. or Dem., but we all know that is not going to happen......JUST LEARN TO SPEAK SPANISH.

""Fred Thompson is a phony. The conservative “Christian” people are lining up to back him but the guy married a chick 20 years younger (trophy wife) and he helped at an abortion clinic. On the other hand Ron Paul has been married for 50 years and is a long time pro-lifer. Why are these “conservatives” backing Thompson?""

You have to love comments like these. The reason why people are lining up behind Thompson is because, unlike your ron paul, he is ELECTABLE! Geez! you people really just do not get it. In your insulated view you have your favorite and that is fine. Before FT began speaking about running, I was thinking that Giuliani would have to do because he is the only 1 on the R ticket that was electable vs. the hillary juggernaut that has yet to be released. To be honest, I think we will be seeing more and more of these types of incidents at Thompson events because the hillary machine absolutely fears him. She knows that he has a very good shot at shooting her presidential aspirations down and will stop at nothing in trying to discredit those she fears (yes even planting her accolytes at said events). Vote Ron Paul? I think not, why waste my vote? I am quite certain that ALL candidates have done something in their pasts that might offend some people somewhere. Is any of us perfect? NAFTA is a done deal, if you really wanted to stop it you should have jumped on Bush1. Too darned late now, and no I do not favor it either. Run Fred, RUN!

Ron Paul is a kook. He has no chance and believes the US is the bad guy. He lost all support from real conservatives the moment he blamed the US for 9-11. Ron Paul supporters are attacking Thompson cause they feel he will win. This will only hurt the GOP and allow Hillary to be President. But selfish Paul supporters just don't get it.
