Don't call her 'Obama girl'

Watch CNN's Mary Snow report on Caroline Giuliani's support of Sen. Barack Obama.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani may not be able to count on support from his own daughter, Slate.com reported Monday.

On his daughter Caroline's Facebook profile, the self-described liberal was a part of a group that supports Illinois Sen. Barack Obama's presidential bid. After Slate.com emailed her about it, she immediately left the group, the web site reported.

But a spokeswoman for Caroline said her action didn't mean that she is supporting Obama, or any other candidate in particular. "Before the presidential campaign got underway, Caroline added herself to a list on Facebook as an expression of interest in certain principles," Joannie C. Danielides said in a statement. "It was not intended as an indication of support in a presidential campaign and she has removed it. Caroline is not commenting on the 2008 election."

While many of the other candidates' entire families have been visible on the campaign trail, Giuliani's children have yet to make an appearance. His son, Andrew, said he will not help the campaign because he wants to concentrate on becoming a professional golfer, The New York Times reported in March.

Since his very public divorce from his second wife and his marriage to Judith Nathan, Giuliani's relationship with his children has been strained. Giuliani stopped going to his children's events, missing Andrew's high school graduation and Caroline's plays, the Times also reported.

Giuliani talked about his daughter at a campaign stop in Clear Lake, Iowa on Monday.

"My daughter I love very much," Giuliani said. "I have great respect for her, and I’m really proud of her. And I don’t comment on children because I want to give them the maximum degree of privacy. I think children in situations like this deserve to have the maximum degree of privacy. And the best way to preserve that is, except to point out that you love them and care about them and you’re very, very proud of them, just don’t comment about it."

UPDATE: Andrew Giuliani tells ABC News he supports his father's presidential bid and thinks he would be a "great president."

On his sister's support of Obama, Andrew Giuliani said "I love my sister very much and I respect her opinions. "One of the great things about our parents is they've always encouraged us to see the world for ourselves."

I would think that anyone running for office in this country would want their kids and siblings as far away from the spotlight as possible, unless they're 4 years old or younger and cute and innocent looking. Too much room for screw ups. Just ask Bush, Gore and hell, even Clinton (bubba) who's brother was a screw-up from the get-go. You are your brother's keeper and all that crap.

Haha Now you know that Giuliani is a phony, con-man, and liar. His daughter saw first hand what a terrible human being Giuliani is–dishonest, womanizer, adulterous scum. If the sheep continue to follow Rudy, it will certainly show their pure ignorance to ever electing a decent human being into office.

Ronald Regan's son, Ron, was a very active in opposing his father's policies and views. This is nothing new to politics.

What Guiliani's daughters' political views matter almost as much as Paris Hilton, Lyndsay Lohan, or even Little Al Gore. Who cares?

Both of his children must get their "smarts" from their Mother. I wouldn't claim him either if he was my father.

if his own adult children dont support him for his bid as president then that says alot about a person. regardless of the differences that they may have, he still didn't support them through their activites or accomplishments. he doesn't support the family values that he says he does. if he was the last person on the planet i wouldn't vote for him.........

Let's see if we can sort this all out. Rudy Guiliani filed for divorce only AFTER it was revealed he was having an affair with Judith Nathan (which in turn came after reports of his affair with his communications director). Rudy missed his son Andrew's high school graduation and his daughter Caroline's plays. His son doesn't want anything to do with Guiliani or Nathan, and his daughter isn't even supporting his run for the White House. And Giuliani's still far ahead in the the race for the Republican nomination. "Family Values Party" indeed.

Hmmmmm. Somebody, hopefully a Republican, tell me about those Core Family Values that the damn Republicans are always going on and on about? Looks like the Big G knows what is up. Check that, the Little Guliani's apparently know what is up. Good for Donna, sounds like she has a brain!!! Obama!

Who cares if Giuliani's daughter is going to vote for Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!
His pathetic ex-wife Hanover is so jealous of the present wife, she is instrumental in the daughter's decision
    to vote lefty.
The people who vote for Ibama will never vote for Giuliani, so it does not
    matter!
This will not harm Giuliani, people do not like spoiled brats, I bet she will take his money for education. Her values are vindictive of her father influenced by disappointed mother who could be a first lady.

You mean Giuliani has failed to show up in places where his spiteful children have made it clear he is not welcome. I guess he's smarter than we thought.

We are only hearing one side of the story about him not attending his childrens special events. These children need to grow up, people get divorced every day and you just have to move on. I'll vote for him!

Andrew Giuliani graduated from St Joseph HS in Montvale NJ in June of 2005. My newphew also graduated that year and I attended the graduation.
I saw, and spoke to, Rudy Giuliani at the graduation.

Here is the difference between Barry Obama and every other candidate republican or democrat. He’s telling it like it is. He’s not mincing words. He’s TELLING THE TRUTH and they’re all telling either half-truths or lies. Obama says things that are so blatantly obvious and correct that you think anyone would be a fool to disagree. Instead they all play pin the tail on the donkey when they dont even realize the THEY’RE the DONKEY!
The truth hurts, but at least there’s one candidate that is willing to tell it, and with the power and charisma and hope to actually not only make us believe it but, but actually force a change, blessed, fresh, real air into the debate…glorious, wonderful courage, what a rare and beautiful thing to see in politics. I get the chills just thinking about all the good this man Barry Obama is going to do for this country. Hell, for what he’s done already by exposing the sheer amount of donkeys out there in this race already.
