Biden has released a new ad in Iowa.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden aired his first campaign advertisement Sunday, casting himself as the only candidate with a viable strategy for a sustainable peace in Iraq.

In the 30-second spot airing in Iowa, Biden describes how a soldier's remains accompanied him on the flight back after Biden's latest trip to Iraq.

"As I climbed into the C-130, strapped into the middle of that cargo bay was a flag-draped coffin," Biden says. "It turned that cargo bay into a cathedral. And all I could think of was the parents waiting at the other end.

"We must end this war in a way that doesn't require us to send their grandchild back." "Joe Biden is the only candidate with a plan to get us out of Iraq and keep us out," the ad states as Biden's image fades.

The ad does not specify the plan, which calls for partitioning Iraq into three semiautonomous regions for Kurds, Shiites and Sunnis under a central government. A 60-second ad, which is scheduled to begin airing Wednesday, details Biden's Iraq strategy, stating: "Only Biden would create the breathing room needed to stabilize the country."

The ads, are scheduled to run through Labor Day, Biden aides said. Rivals Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and Bill Richardson also are airing ads in Iowa. Biden got an added boost Sunday when ABC's George Stephanopoulos, the moderator of the latest Democratic debate, used a clip of the ad to introduce a question on Iraq.

Biden's son Beau, a judge advocate general in the Delaware National Guard and the state's attorney general, is preparing to deploy to Iraq next year.

Pam A Summerside PEI of Canada, Where is this person you speak so highly about. Maybe the US should meet this person and talk with. There is not anyone of such caliber on this planet. What can we hope to get from this election? I know; a powerful superficial religious figure!

Just Curious?

How is it that Anonymous, Daniel, ike, ClearBlue with no city or state, are apparently exempt from having to follow the "CNN Rules" - which state: "Comments that do not include your name, city and state will not be posted."
but other voters do not have the same privilege?

I thought Americans took pride in all being equal.

Unfortunately, the current Presidential Election is not just an American issue. It is a World issue in the most serious sense of the word. And I only hope Americans realize the impact their votes in this coming election will have upon all world nations.

The Bush Administration has caused serious fractures and divides among Nato Allies, and Mid East Nations.

George Bush tactics have turned the world against America. The world currently sees America as a power hungry, dictatorship with one agenda, Control all Nations. George Bush has injected his own brand of hatred across the world.

If the next President fails in bringing America back on track, strained international relationships, and the current hatred felt for America and American Policies will ignite a War making the current Iraq situation look like a mere street brawl.

And if Bush, in an attempt to save face, can find a way to start a rumble with Iran before his term expires, the next President better be the best that America has to offer!

Americans need to put aside the petty issues regarding candidates' ie; party lines, morals, ethics, personal baggage and family names. Americans need to start focusing on candidates that have proven leadership qualities and the ability to inject peace versus hatred around the Globe.

This election is not about Republicans and Democrats or the Clintons, Bushes, and Regans of the world. This election will have the power to define world order and direction. This election is about electing a President that has the ability to reverse the current world disaster and devastation brought about by the current administration before it's too late.

By the Grace of God Go We. Lest We Forget!

Right on, Joe! Biden's the one, and has been for a long time. The only thing holding him back in the "second tier" is the media obsession with celebrity, always focusing on what they see as a horse race. In both parties, three candidates only get all the attention. Guys like Biden (and Richardson too) get the crumbs. But the senator from Delaware has more and deeper understanding of foreign and domestic issues than anyone else in either party. With Biden's depth of knowledge and experience, you could afford to put Obama on the ticket as well. He's not yet ready but has tremendous possibilities.

Used Car Salesman:
Well first let me say That Joe knows all the right sound bites to get people to listen to him.
I like Biden, however he comes off to much like a used car salesman (no offense to the used car salesmen in the crowd) and you can only believe in a fraction of what he says. Beside…., he's not even on the democratic radar.
Sorry Biden, you never really had a chance.

Joe Biden is the only candidate that has a viable plan for getting us out of Iraq without the whole region descending into utter chaos. He is the best qualified candidate in the Democratic field and has been serving the people in this country for almost all of his adult life. He is intelligent and candid with the American people. If only the news media would stop focusing mostly on the "front runners" (thus keeping them the front runners) and focus on the many good things that Joe Biden has done for our country.

"JB has handled himself in a decent and intelligent manner.
However, no one from New Jersey can win the Presidential nod . . . . its just the way it is."

That's great, Cable King, because he's from Delaware.

I'm counting on the American people to get it right this time around and elect a REAL leader. Joe Biden has a command of every issue that faces our nation today AND solutions to deal with them. He's respected around the world and on both sides of the aisle. This is THE MOST important election in decades and we cannot fail as a people. Hillary, I believe, will divide our country. The Republicans will be ABSOLUTELY relentless with attacks on her. Ten times worse than what they did to her husband. NOTHING will get done if she were elected. America cannot afford a dogfight in congress for four years. There's too much at stake for our country and people around the world. I like Obama, but I'd like to see him as a VP to someone like Joe Biden to acquire the correct experience needed to be President of the United States. God Bless you Joe!!! Our country and this world needs you in these troubled times.

Joe Biden is the only one that has a viable plan for the exit of Iraq.. Another fine example of lagging experience from this lot of Democratic candidates.

Biden is the only democratic candidate I would vote for. His answer to the Iraq question a few debates back shows that he is the only one who actually understands the situation over there..

How many times must George Bush look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, ‘n’ how many ears must George Bush have
Before he can hear people (Iraq people & anerican mothers of dead soldiers) cry?
Yes, ‘n’ how many deaths (of american and Iraq people) will it take till George Bush knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

Ike   August 20th, 2007 12:25 pm ET

He is the only one who has a plan that sounds realistic and can work

When did Joe Biden become a general? Just because you misspend and waste our tax dollars, no one is coming to your Washington office to tell you how spend our taxes, Joe.

Ivan, Chicago, Illinois   August 20th, 2007 12:04 pm ET

It's a shame that the race for the democratic nomination is not between Mrs.Clinton and Mr.Biden. Either, I believe will be good for all Americans not just certain Americans as has been the case with Bush.

Daniel   August 20th, 2007 11:49 am ET

Joe Biden is the peoples candidate. He has devoted a lifetime to this country. He is dedicated to our protection, and will serve us proud from the moment he takes office.

Anonymous   August 20th, 2007 11:44 am ET

JOe Biden seems like the only guy who has had a plan and thinks about our troops. He's the only one with a child who will have to go. Where are the Bush twins, where's their sacrifice to their fathers war?
I wish he would have run in 2004 and I hope he can get traction for 08..but Hilary looks pretty unstoppable.

Every Dem candidate is worlds better than the Repubs, but Biden impresses me everytime I watch him.

Tom, Texas   August 20th, 2007 11:03 am ET

Field Marshall Joe Biden has a perfect 35 year record of being on the wrong side of America on every issue. He was on the wrong side of the Cold War. He was on the wrong side of America's liberation of Kuwait. If Biden had been in charge, Saddam Hussein would not only still dominate Iraq, but he would still dominate Kuwait and the rest of the middle east; and the Soviet Union would still exist and dominate four continents. Biden should go back to playing with his Barbie dolls.
