Cleland: Rove lies "when his lips are moving"

Rove/Cleland feud still brewing.

(CNN) - The bad blood between Bush political adviser Karl Rove and former Democratic Senator Max Cleland hasn't eased over the years. On CNN's Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer, Cleland responded to an attack by Rove with one statement: "You know he's lying when his lips are moving."

The feud heated up during Cleland's 2002 reelection campaign, where Cleland blamed Rove for ads showing his face after Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. Cleland lost the Georgia election to Republican Saxby Chambliss. In an interview last weekend, Rove accused Cleland of publicly supporting the President's bill to form the Department of Homeland Security as he worked against it. Cleland says he co-sponsored alternate legislation.

What Will They Think of Next?
or Dick Cheney's Pacemaker needs batteries, not included.

Libby? signing statements, habius corpus, nukes in North Korea, torture, fear, clean air? Blackwater dirty, every child left behind. Ducttape your windows, Osama boo, Wolfowitz through. 9 fired attorneys, 1 mired attorney general. Special prosecutor? dis-union, dissolution, discontent. voter fraud? election fraud. no blacks allowed. Tim Griffen resigned, caging lists, Greg Palast, missing emails no longer. Orange alert, terror dry runs, 911 in Iraq, Iraq caused 911, huh?
Impeach them, Impeach them, Impeach them. Do not wait, have mercy, take time, listen, look around, Impeach them, Impeach them. Stop, what’s that sound?

    It’s democracy, run aground.

    The Hole Truth

The man keeps digging but doesn't see, y'know that's just the thing that worries me.

Gonzo won't go he's in the know. Monica Goodling, FBI Director even his pre-decessor, they say he lies, he stinks, attracts flies.

But you know, Gonzo won't go, he's in the know. He'll steal the show, smirk and jab, maybe do some more blow.

"Don't you see, if they get me, they'll leave nothing be! They'll poke and prod Cheney and Bush will nod, Karl Rove will plant no more sods."

Yes, it is just that lame. Don't you dare say they're all the same, Gonzo isn't to blame. Maybe he's low man on the totem pole, firewall, wall flower at the ball, but don't worry, he's not that small.

We see you Bush and it's time to fall.

    Stop, look, what's that sound?

    It's democracy run aground.

Every body look what's going down, Alberto Gonzalez stole the town.

King George won't take off his crown.

It's not over it's just the start, soon ol' George won't need wiretaps to hear himself fart.

Impeach the bums they deserve the heat, Gonzo is only the first tasty treat.

Every body stop, look around, What's that sound?

Look everybody, people are talking can it be,

Karl Rove is gone, democracy has been found?

    Obama 08.

    "Rove/Cleland fued"?

    Oh, you mean feud.

Well, at least Cleland was fair to Rove. It would have been totally over the top to accuse Rove of lying all the time. I'm glad Cleland showed restraint, stuck to the facts and said Rove only lies when his lips are moving.

The above story correctly states that Karl Rove and the Republican party ran ads comparing Max Cleland to Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden, and that Senator Cleland lost the ensuing election. It fails to mention that as a Captain in the U.S. Army Cleland also lost his right forearm and both legs in service to his country. Captain Cleland was the Battalion Signal Officer for the 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division during the Battle of Khe Sahn. Cleland was awarded the Silver Star and the Bronze Star for valorous action in combat.

Readers who wonder why Karl Rove and his Republican propaganda machine are held in such high disregard need only look back at the disgraceful smear campaign in which they questioned the patriotism of an American hero.

I am not American. I cannot vote.

Why is CNN keeping Mr Rove alive just four days before his ignonimous exit through the back door?

Thank you for your service to this country Max Cleland. If Neo conservatives like Rove don't appreciate, normal citizens like myself sure as heck do.

in my opinion Rove should not even be in the same room as Cleland. Former Senator Cleland isa hero and Rove is a top notch lier whom needs to be put in jail.

"You know he's lying when his lips are moving." Yes, in my opinion, that sums up Karl Rove. Well put Senator Cleland! It just amazes me that there can be anyone left in America, or elsewhere for that matter, who would actually believe anything that comes out of Rove's mouth.

Max Cleland is quite right. What else would you expect from a man whose grandfather helped Hitler run the Nazi party (http://www.unknownnews.org/06A08-A14d-412Cassandra.html)

Just as Bush's grandfather helped arm and fund Hitler (http://www.twf.org/News/Y2003/1010-BushNazi.html)

No wonder the country has been heading in the wrong direction for the last few years.

Rove, along with Bush and Chaney, should be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Hundreds of thousands are dead due to their actions. Millions are now refugees and have lost everything. Tens of thousands have been maimed. They lied us into the war. I am so sick of hearing their excuses and their lies. It's time the administration was impeached and these criminals were put in prison.

My reply to the comment about Rove "going out the back door". Oh how naive the American public is. Don't you see? Rove is now free to direct Bush's buddy Mitt Romney into the White House! Silly voters! Pay attention to history will you please?

I don't trust Rove. He says he is leaving due to family; which if true would be an honorable thing to do. I have to say though, I tend to believe what Cleland says. Rove cannot be trusted. I think his real goal here is to help mould another illiterate president into our government so as to manipulate and pursuade to further his own goals. I wish our country would take a look at what this administration has done and hold them accountable. Take a look at what Rove has done in his lifetime and see how he has always been the deciever and manipulator. Yes, he does get things accomplished, but not in an honorable way. His agenda has always been manipulation. I am frustrated that noone seems to care that they are turning our country upside down. Bush has no brain and it should have been obvious in the elections. But for some unknown reason, he got voted in twice. Personally, I have to wonder how corrupt voting was, since the administration has proven how corrupt they can be. Voters are going to really have to pay attention to what happens in 2008 so that we don't make another huge mistake like the past two elections. You cannot vote on a name that sounds familiar. I am watching ALL candidates, so that we can distance ourself from this past administration. We really need to get the BEST person into the white house, and not just vote along party lines as revenge or ideology. We need to wake up and listen and not prejudge.

I knew it was only a matter of time before a loyal drone posted a defense of Rove, and an implied criticism of Cleland. Matt from Chico apparently has no problem with a political operative with a habit of demeaning and degrading the service of decorated veterans: 2000, McCain; 2002, Cleland; 2004, Kerry. Anyone else see a pattern?

Thanks for the compliment, Matt, but I’m certain CNN has far more qualified journalists.

I am curious as to which part of my above post you found biased. Max Cleland’s wounds and military decorations are a matter of public record, as is Karl Rove’s involvement in the ads comparing Cleland to our enemies. The only opinion I voiced was that Rove’s ads were dishonorable. Do you disagree?

YOU DECIDED NOT TO POST IT,,, ONLY ANTI ROVE POST ALLOWED ON CNN?????

There is a special place in hell for people like Karl Rove.

Some of the persons holding down the fort until he gets there are...Hitler, Mussolini, Franco.

Please Mr. Rove, when you get there save seats for Bush, Cheney, Tancredo, Limbaugh, Savage and Hannity.

For Matt in CA, true a newsperson should not be confusing opinion with nes. I note you did not mention Fox, the great mother of lies. But when you present the facts in this country, with the total failure that this Administration was right from the day they stole the election from a better man that got more votes. And did so with a 1 vote majority that prevented a revote in certain Counties in Florida and then bused in goons from another State to storm an election place in Dade County to prevent a recount, any reasonably intelligenmt person could have seen the hand writing on the bathroom wall. The news is not opinion when the truth is told. The Bushiets started with no honesty added to it a total lack of integrity and went downhill from there in planning an unjustified war to steal 60B dollars of Iraq oil and bankrupt our treasury. Is that what you support? Celand left it all on the line, too bad that Dick and Bush never had the guts to even peak at that line from a distance.

What a crock there Matt. Celand left everything on the line. Bush never had the gutts to peak at that line. Rove has his Bushie trophy wife. A fitting payment for a poor immitation of Baghdad Bob. They will likely produes more substandard children without any concept or morals or ethics. Is that what you support? Newsmen telling the truth is not opinion. Cannot say the same for Tony Snowjob.
