The Clintons on Martha's Vineyard Saturday.

OAK BLUFFS, Mass. (AP) — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton returned to her favorite family vacation spot Saturday to raise money for her presidential campaign at a celebrity-studded event where she took some pointed swipes at President Bush.

Clinton — accompanied by her husband and their daughter Chelsea — smiled broadly and swayed to the music as singer Carly Simon and her two children, Ben and Sally Taylor, sang "Devoted to You" for a Martha's Vineyard crowd of more than 2,000.

Simon, along with actors Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen, showered the Clintons with praise and predicted the senator from New York will be elected as the nation's first woman president.

"Is it Mrs. President or Madam President?" Simon asked a smiling Clinton.

The Clintons frequently vacationed on Martha's Vineyard during their years in the White House. The senator told the crowd that the family has been vacationing in the island for 14 years.

Bill Clinton told the crowd his wife would make the strongest president among those seeking to succeed Bush in January 2009 because she has the best plans to deal with national security, climate change, health care and education.

"If we were not married and Hillary asked me to do this, to be here tonight, I would be here," the former president said.

In her speech, the New York senator blasted the Bush administration on everything from failure to address problems with global warming to education and the economy.

She aimed her sharpest remarks at what she described as the Bush administration's "indifference and incompetence" in dealing with Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath.

"It is a national disgrace," said Clinton who is traveling to New Orleans this week to mark the second anniversary of the disaster. "What happened because of Katrina was a turning point in our country."

Clinton also sharply criticized Bush for his handling of the Iraq war, repeating her call for the U.S. to begin withdrawing its troops from the country.

"I believe that if he does not extricate us from Iraq by the time he leaves office, that when I am president I will," she said.

"I want to be a president who gets back to setting big goals for our country."

The $50-per-ticket event was expected to raise more than $100,000 for the campaign.

With making a joke of the title….

"Clinton blasts Bush"

Anyone else thinking the dirty throughts I am thinking…. all it reminds me of is Bill and some of the fun things he did in the office with his secretaries…

plus the fact his name is Bush makes it funnier…

Ted Danson where was the black face today?

If he were a Republican donor and this was a Republican event, don't tell me that it would not come up by all you lovers of everything Hillary.

Simple point and question with no hate, anger or party mantra:

What is Hillary going to do to make our country better than all of the Democrats and all of the Republicans who are running?

Iraq -

Health care -

Getting rid of NAFTA -

Terrorism -

Illegal immigration -

These would probably be the most important issues facing us, what would she do?

The last 6 yrs of political hate and witch hunts are nothing compared to what will happen in America if Hillary is elected.

Hillary IS bad for America, no matter how you define the word is..

Today's Quote

We should be too big to take offense and too noble to give it.

-Abraham Lincoln

If as Hilary Clinton states "So I think I'm the best of the Democrats to deal with that as well" then America truly is in serious trouble. To vote for Hilary Clinton would be the worst mistake any reasonably conscious individual could ever perpetuate upon him/her self while bring America to further demise. Only a fool would believe as Hilary says, "It's a horrible prospect to ask yourself 'What if? What if?' But if certain things happen between now and the election, particularly with respect to terrorism, that will automatically give the Republicans an advantage again, no matter how badly they have mishandled it, no matter how much more dangerous they have made the world," when Hilary as did so many other Democrats, she voted for the war in Iraq and against taking a stance against illegal immigrants as well as other domestic issues that would have benefited American. To place sole blame on the Republicans is merely a demonstration of the democrats’ lack of an agenda and Hilary Clinton’s arrogances and lack of respect for the America people.

Respect for the views of the right-wingers?Lying,cheating, and stealing are not concepts that earn respect. There is nothing a right-winger can do today to salvage any shred of what little respect they may have had without the help of euthanasia. If you want to be forgiven and condoned, try a religion, don't look to thinking people.Conservative views cannot and will not be valid intellectually and are doomed to failure.Just like the republican party.

I've been a democrat all my life, but if the choice is Obama against any Republican, I will vote Republican. You people see Obama as a uniter, no history of the old politics as is, I see him as a fresh face blowing hot air with nothing behind it. You may ask yourself, why this intense dislike for the Senator of Illinois? Because our family begged his office four times to look into the verbal and mental abuse that our sailor received while being trained in his great state of Illinois and he refused. If he can't look into a problem in his own state, how you do you think he can handle Illinois and forty-nine others. As for vacationing, he goes to Hawaii every Christmas. I've never been there, but I'm not wealthy either.
Go Hillary!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, you mensa members of Howard Dean's screaming ensemble, powered by your parents lies about their participation in the "rebellion of '68," have not heeded my request for a reasoned discussion. By the way, whilst I have a poor opinion of the 'Hill," I would love to see a female and/or african-american become our next President, though I would obviously prefer Ms. Rice. I also do not think that the country will go to hell in the unlikely event that Mrs. Clinton prevails. That said, I am no fan of her or her husband, both intelligent and capable, but limited by their respective constant political strategizing in contradistiction to leading with a solid moral framework.

Amazing that even with a disclaimer and exlanation, you still bit. I wish you were a marlin in the gulf stream in November E. Estevez. I am, as you may have noticed had you reflected, rather than predictably reacted–a common malady of members of the party of moral bankruptcy and the insurmountable inability to elect the only genius candidate ever nominated by any party in our experiment Adlai Stevenson–a person of complete immigrant classification, your well-established ancestors in puerto requeno, certainly outdated and out-qualifying me, making you more American in that sense, an observer of the left's bankrupt ideology(ies) and more interestingly, contraditory justifications.

This makes me sick. Everyone in D.C or who wants to be there is constantly blasting their opponents instead of uniting to fix whats wrong in the U.S. I simply do not understand why they can't just get together and right the wrongs on capitol hill and in the white house. Also if you have a problem with someone in office vote him/her out. Don't just complain day in and day out about this person or that person. The beautiful thing about the way our government is set up is that we can remove anyone from any office at anytime as long as we get enough votes together. So stop your whining and moaning and do something about it. Everyone who just whines and moans but does nothing about it is as bad as these politicians who are constantly blasting everyone they can to make themselves look better. Buck up or shut up.

Eddie, Santa Barbara, CA   August 27th, 2007 2:43 am ET

How is it even possible that "Conservatives"/Bush supporters can still evoke a reaction from the general public. From what pulpit of the absurd do they still stand? The wrath of this Republican administration has branded us all with its careless rhetoric and righteous crusade. Their testimony has been forever recorded in the annals of history never to be forgotten. It has been felt from "sea to shining sea", from one end of the earth to the other. And now as their final verse is played out we can finally shout "Amen!" and pray for a new beginning…one which will "…deliver us from evil."

I am a lifelong Democrat and I voted for Bill Clinton, twice. However, if Hillary is the nominee, I will not vote for her. It has nothing to do with her being a woman but it has everything to do with the fact that she panders to every single crowd she talks to, as well as the fact that her machine acts like she should just be handed the nomination because she wants it. People go on and on about Obama's lack of experience, as if Hillary has been in the Senate for twenty years. Just because she was the first lady does not mean that she is qualified to run the country. If she wants to hitch her wagon to Bill's then I say it is appropriate to ask the difficult questions, and any Democrat who thinks that Bill Clinton's behavior over the last seven years will not be fodder for the Republicans, you are deluding yourselves. Are none of you surprised by the relative lack of vitriol on the part of the Right? Are none of you suspicious that she has received campaign contributions from Rupert Murdoch? Just watch what happens if Democrats are stupid enough to vote for her. It is ludicrous to think that we would be supporting someone who has a 52% disapproval rating. Contrary to what the bogus polls indicate, she is not electable.
It seems that most of the problems that she claims she is ready to solve, were the same problems (with the exception of Iraq) that she and her husband resolved to solve in the early nineties, and alas very little was accomplished. Until she answers some tough questions and not the softballs lobbed by the media, I will not take her seriously as a candidate.

Ann TN   August 26th, 2007 10:34 pm ET

The more I read these comments the more believe Mrs. Clinton is a divisive figure. When she stated she was willing to fight the Republicans during the ABC debated I was wondering if she won the election how could SHE BRING OUR COUNTRY TOGETHER. Then I figured she was just as divisive as the current President. All the logical reasonable people should ask themselves are they ready for eight more years of rightwing conspiracies, the politics of personal destruction, compassionate conservatism, going to the base division on cultural issues, government gridlock and partisanship. We Americans we have bigger fish to fry. After 15 years of divisiveness between two families its time to move on.

Hillary polarizing? These are just the biased opinions from the whinning repubicans and other whinning dem canadidates's supporters.

According to the several latest polls I read, she has increased her leads against other dem candidates and against any republican candidates. That means, there are more americans trust her and want her as a president than any candidates.

Lance, Monrovia, CA   August 26th, 2007 10:20 pm ET

I can sum up Hillary Clinton's experience quite succinctly.

1980's = Board of Directors for WalMart.

1990's = Horribly botched an attempt at universal healthcare.

2003 = Voted to go to war in Iraq.

Versus Obama's experience.

2003 = Said Iraq was a "dumb war" when it was political suicide to say it.

2006 = co-sponsered and passed first ethics reform bill in 12 years of Republican congress.

1990's = State Senator that signed more bi-partisan bills than anyone else, 230 bills.

1980's First African American editor of Harvard Law Review, who turned down 17 job offers from corporations that would have paid at least 170,000 a year salary, to instead be a community organizer on behalf of the poor for 14,000 a year.

Which one of these two do you think is more qualified to represent the American People?

Obama 08.

Bush deserves to be blasted, even if he isn't running (as somebody commented),he has had the full support of all republican politicians and this fact needs to be made crystal clear!!

We invaded a country that was not a threat to the U.S. and had absolutely nothing to do with 911. I personally believe that this admin took us to Iraq for one thing and one thing only… to control Iraq's oil. That is why he keeps stalling now… he is waiting for Iraq to sign off on the oil concessions. He had the full backing of every Republican Politician.

He has taken the power of oversight from the Congress by declaring that EVERYTHING this admin does is top secret and thereby weakened the Constitution. Again, with the full backing of every Republican Politician.

He instituted torture, which puts our troops at more risk should they be captured, and by U.S. law is illegal. Full backing of Republican politicians again.

He instituted spying on fellow americans and shredded the Constitution in the process. Again, Full backing of all Republican politicians.

By his own adminission, somebody in the Whitehouse outed a CIA operative, which should be considered treason but he has brushed it off as "over and done with" and "we need to move on". Again, need I say it, with the full support of every republican politician.

Not to mention how he has squandered this country's economic well-being. We owe so much money to so maney countries, including China, it will be admazing if we are ever out of debt. All rubberstamped by the republican politicians.

I could go on and on and on… this administration has not accomplished one positive thing. It is a failed war. A failed presidency. A failed administration. All of this was accomplished with the FULL BACKING OF ALL REPUBLICAN POLITICIANS!

To One_American, poor man, you must be a shut in. The GOP think tank PR firm has been hired by another Iraqi goober to over throw the current puppet of the Mullahs and the oil companies. He plays for the Shite militias on the side and prevents any actual progress. Clearly the money being stolen from our treasury by Chany, chronies Inc and the current Iraqi insiders is the real reason the war is not making any political progress. But people that refuse to look at any facts they disagree with are helping kill our troops. Stop thinking in the White House speaking points terms for a while. Impeach both the acting president and his pet, Bush. Doing so is the best way to support our troops. Then wre can better use them to actually fight terrorists. Recall the rotter named Osama?

Our country is divide into two camps: The Moral (Republican) and amoral (democrat) I've noticed that the type of people who support the Clintons tend to be the low life. I imagine that if each of the people who responded in support of the Clintons would examine themselves, they would conclude thAT GOD is not part of their life. I say. After Bush one's war with Iraq. The borders were closed and so was the sea' and air. Sadamn was not able to even as much as build another scud missle during the years between Iraq wars. Clinton bombed Iraq twice. Both times it was for violating the no fly zone. Both times it was milatary and air ports. He did not bomb any cities. When Bush two went in He found nothing. Not even a Scud missle. Seems to me that President Clinton succeeded at keeping Sadamn at bay. There were no mass killings going on in Iraq during the 90's as their is now. After Sadamn. Everyone keeps Bashing the Clintons on the Iraq war. Well your all just looking for a reason to Bash. The Clintons keep us out of war and at the same time keep Iraq from building anymore arms. in 2000 Iraq was still only able to use 20% of its oil fields. The rest are still distroyed from the 1st Iraq war. Before Bashing the Clintons Some should do there homework. (Obama supporters) President Clinton could have had war with Iraq at anytime during the 90's, but HE DIDN'T. This war is a True Result of Republican do it my way Politics. Foorget about the Americans This country belongs to the Republicans and your invisable to them unless you support their issue's. Sure glad that when it comes to judgement day I can look up and be proud and say I AM NOT A REPUBLICAN. By the way I am a College Grad for Clinton

Until you get someone into power down there that will actually listen to the American people, the whole world will remain volatile because of this administration. I have never seen a time in my life-time when voicing your politics got you labeled a traitor and had your life destroyed for it. This is not the Land of the Free that I grew up next door to. Excuse me, but did anyone check Mr Bush's credencials when he was Gov of Texas??? He won that position by thief also, and there are now people blasting Hillary??? Bush dodged going to war by hiding in the Air National Guard (and played hookey from there too). Now he is commander in chief of our Military and have marched thousands of our sons and daughters off to war. It is a game with him. What he knows about the military would half way fill a sewing themble. It is definitely time for someone to step up and untangle this mess of military, global warming, health care, education (all of which Bush has lent an absent ear).

SpaceCowboy - NY   August 26th, 2007 7:16 pm ET

The current administration hasn't really produced anything positive over the last 6.5 years (well with the exception of strengthening their political bonds with the communist Chinese).

In fact most of the administrations statements are nothing more than a slap in the face to all Americans. Take for example his last remarks belittling the Viet Nam era veterans. Those are pretty tough remarks coming from someone that was to cowardly to serve in that conflict.

Next, would be his constant rhetoric over the axis of evil… yet, he turns to his communist financial backers for the money to support this charade. How ridiculous is it to say for instance state (paraphrase) "Iran is next if they don't watch out" but, in order to do so he must go to Iran's ally, Communist China for the money to do so.. How naive can a grown person be?

The GOP's political or hidden agenda will be so very difficult for anyone to recover from. However, I believe that Senator Clinton will be able to handle these solutions much more diplomatically then any other GOP prime donna out there.

Respect and trust is what is lacking in all American society mainly due to the fact that the White House currently has no ethics to set the standards Americans could use to follow.

If for some reason the GOP financially backed by the Communist Chinese does manage to rig/throw another election, this is one blogger that will become the next Canadian citizen. Coining a Cold War phrase – I will be defecting to the last Western Democracy on this planet, Canada.

Good Luck Senator Clinton and good luck to the USA.

There are Hillary Clinton haters and there are Hillary Clinton lovers, and it is amusing to read what they have to say. The most depressing thing is that the haters are obviously still "pre 2000″ and the Lovers are living a dream. What the Republican Administration has don to the American middle and lower class is more than dispictable. Yet there are many in this group hate democrats so anything the republicans do is ok even if it hurts them. I call that real hatred and it should be a law forbidding it.

From Associated Press:

"There are American officials who consider Iraq as if it were one of their villages, for example Hillary Clinton and Carl Levin," Maliki told a news conference.

"This is severe interference in our domestic affairs. Carl Levin and Hillary Clinton are from the Democratic Party and they must demonstrate democracy.

"I ask them to come back to their senses and to talk in a respectful way about Iraq."

Another major political blunder by the bumbling boobs Hillary Clinton and Carl Levin.

Just like in this country, they think they can overthrow a government by flapping their mouths.

Democrats are constantly proving to the world just how ignorant, arrogant and unhelpful they can be - and hopefully the American public is taking note…

Posted By One_American, Anytown, USA : August 26, 2007 12:32 pm

I guess that you are not aware that Levin is the chairman of the Armed Services Committee and that Hillary serves in that committee. Levin and John Warner just came back from Iraq and have come to the realization that Maliki has to go. He is ineffective and has done little to solve the sectarian and insurgent warfare that has almost destroyed Iraq. The surge campaign was designed to give Maliki time to solve some of these issues and he has failed miserably at this task. Asking for his ouster is a reasonable request that Bush sooner or later will have to address.

The Clintons back in the white house is a disaster just waiting to happen. That can be likened to Al Capone and the purple gang during St. Valentines Day massacres toward the end of prohibition. Violence running rapid openly in the streets, remember the 18th amendment and days of easer times of the Clinton administration. So easly we forget.

More empty bluster from Hillary. She is the weakest Democratic candidate with any chance of winning, and of course her weakness makes her popular with much of the party establishment. There is no way if she became president that she would investigate the Bush regime, and America would never be able to hear the full truth of this tragic era, let alone expect justice. Hillary is a relic of collaborationist DLC politics that will have gotten America nothing but a decade of psychotic right-wing dictatorship. Not only can she not win the general election, but even if she won we'd still lose.

Why does Hillary always criticize her opponents both Republican as well as Democrat? It's because she doesn't have a strong enough POSITIVE platform of her own to run on so like a vulture she preys on what she deems to be the fault of others. No one is perfect, but Hilliary is farther from perfection than anyone I know.

Jaded, Anywhere, USA   August 26th, 2007 6:29 pm ET

If these candidates - Democrats and Republicans alike - are the best and most qualified leaders our country can put forth, then we really are in poor shape. I'll be eighteen for the coming election and I haven't yet found a candidate in whom I have enough confidence to give my vote. Where are the real people, the real leaders, of America? Surely not in Washington.

steve, magnolia, TX   August 26th, 2007 6:26 pm ET

the woman from Chicago is nothing less than a coattails candidate, relying on her marriage to Bill to bring her any votes what so ever. She will never, ever be elected. I hope she wins the democrats nomination.

I can't believe Americans equal Democracts to representing the "left". I guess the likes of Scott and others in this forum are so swerved to the right, that they equate "neo-liberals" with "socialists".

Please, neither Hilary, nor Obama are the "left".

If Hillary would stop allowing women

aliens back into Mexico. Get Muslims

would consider voting for her. But she may have to leave her party.

The Clintons are Hollywoods; they are
not real. Americans like them because
Americans are shallow.

Tony, Enterprise, Alabama   August 26th, 2007 6:24 pm ET

Hooray!

A Presidnet with an education that was earned (instead of given to them), with real work experience as an attorney (instead of as owner of a defunct oil drilling company and CEO of a baseball team that was given to him), who has shown surprisingly good results after nearly 8 years as a Senator (instead of 6 feckless years as Governor); and, a person that can speak in complete sentences to our friends and foes alike.

The neo-cons need to get ready. We are about to elect a REAL American President, one that will truly defend the country and the Constitution!

Katie, San Francisco, CA   August 26th, 2007 6:23 pm ET

OMG. I seem to remember 8+ years of conservatives bashing Clinton. Y'all just couldn't wait to get someone in office who would bring "values" back. Are you happy now? What a disgrace.

Thank Gawd for the Clintons.

After reading all of the comments, I have come but to one conclusion: all of the conservatives/Republicans who have posted any negative remark on this board regarding Mrs. "Future President" Clinton are very afraid. Very afraid of Mrs. Clinton and the fact that their conservative ideals won't be able to wreck the wonderful USA anymore effective January 2009.

As for my fellow Dems or anyone that wants to get the USA out of this mess it has been in for the past seven years, let us support Obama and Clinton. Either are better than any of the Republican nominees. Let us show the Republicans a united front…

Paperman, Dallas, TX   August 26th, 2007 6:15 pm ET

Hey Hillary, I am sure Bush is way to busy with decisions associated with the Office of the President, like protecting the American people, to respond to your bashing of him (yawn). But you go ahead and criticize him while you set big goals for our country. How you.

Hillary, would not make a good dog catcher.I know she wouldn't make a president. The way you tell when she is not telling the truth her lips start moving.

Glenn, Arlington Texas   August 26th, 2007 6:07 pm ET

Hillary is certainly a "HOT" prospect for our nation. If you don't believe me, just ask her, she will tell you how wonderful she is. There are only two problems, she will not tell you HOW she is going to accomplish any of her goals; and why she moved to be elected to the Senate. Maybe it was because the people of Arkansas see her for what she is: a power hungry, useless waste of a vote.

For those of you lauding Obama, just one question….What has he ever done?

Ed,Ellenville,New York   August 26th, 2007 6:06 pm ET

"One nation under god" is laughable because it remains as an ugly stain on our country's history. An era fifty years ago when a bigotted politician used scare tactics to impose a catholic theocratic agenda.Sound familiar?

Zack, Boston, MA   August 26th, 2007 6:03 pm ET

Bush is such an easy target to bash and he's not even her opponent. Nearly 70% of the United States and about 90% of the rest of the world would agree with her remarks. Isn't bashing Bush a moved point now? I guess Hillary likes the low-hanging fruit.

Bob P., Nashville, TN   August 26th, 2007 5:57 pm ET

>>The left have nothing to offer but criticism. They disparage, denigrate and disgrace every time they open their mouths.<<

No, that would be the neocons. Rush and Sean and the rest of the spreaders of dissent and vitriol mastered this technique during the FIRST Clinton era (we're about to start the 2nd Clinton era).

One of the hallmarks of neocons these days is a mindless disgust with all things that aren't part of their narrow view of American politics. I hear it every day from those with whom I disagree on the direction our country should be taking.

What's more, there just isn't much that is successful with the disastrous Bush administration. He's failed on everything he's tried, including the Iraq mess (and now figuring out how to extricate us from this nightmare), Katrina, the environment, hiring a moral and ethical crew with which to govern (the biggest bunch of thugs since the Nixon era), the oil crisis, and on and on. He compounds this lunacy every time he opens his mouth, by proving to the entire world what a bumbling underpowered thinker he is.

Bob - Montclair NJ   August 26th, 2007 5:56 pm ET

Okay all your Hillary lovers- The million dollar question!
What has Hillary accomplished as a Senator? You have 2 minutes.
Forget that.
Take one second because that is how long the answer takes to say- NOTHING! of course except to ride the coattails of Bill. Do you really want this smug, uncaring woman to run the country? She has no soul. Politics is a dirty game and it plays right into her personality. Any of you Dems who actually think she has a chance to win are IDIOTS? She has flipped more times on policy than a McDonalds hamburger.
Her unfavorable ratings are over 60%.
As a Republican I say let her run as she will be the easiest to beat.

Joan, Provincetown, MA   August 26th, 2007 5:55 pm ET

Obama had a big fund raiser in Chatham on Cape Cod, MA, a couple weeks ago that raised more than $1 million and was totally ignored by the media. And, by the way, where is CNN's story about Brzezinski now endorsing Barack? Bloomberg News has it.

There is one very positive sign about the electable potential of Hillary Rodham Clinton. The sign is that she scares the poop out of the right wing. Just look at the venom they spew as soon as a picture of her shows up on CNN's front page. Their uncontrolable hatred of her reveals how the right wing feels about women in general. The saddest part is that even the right wing women hate the idea of women playing an equal role in government, the workplace, or even at home. But Hillary will win, and the reason why is because the GOP doesn't have a candidate for president, and their is going to be a landslide of GOP seats lost in Senate and Congress because of all the corrupt republicans going to prison. That is what caused the 2006 defeat….GOP corruption. It isn't over either. So…..keep bad mouthing the next president right wing nuts. It'll be good practice for the next 8 years.

I applaud your comments, even though they prove sadly true. I, myself, am guilty of leaning to the left on most issues. But, due to my own beliefs and my own conviction. I respect and admire others from the other side, but…

As far as Hillary, if people would just forget her name, ane she was Hillary Smith, her experience would speak for itself. Like her or not, Hillary is a brilliant mind. Without her husband, she stands alone as an intelligent, prepared, and experienced candidate. I would hope Hillary-Haters could look at her stance, look at her experience, but hope is not a strategy. Politics as usual.

With Bill and Hillary, you get the same old thing again, but much worse with the power hungry Hillary, high taxes , loss of your hunting and firearm rights, they dont believe in the second ammendment of the constitution, more taxes for welfare instead of getting people off the couch just throw more money at them and get their vote. Its all about the people and the love they have for them but to hell with the Iraqi people.Climate change, she'll blame the middle class and the rich and tax us to the point of putting us on welfare, oh yes the plan will work.

Second, Bush may not be best for our country, but we know him for face value. Hillary is fake and two faced. NO ONE knows how she will handle a presidency and thats a risk I wouldn't want to take, we already took it with Bush. It seems to be the hope of all the republican Clinton bashers on this board that there are democrats who would never vote for Clinton. I strongly disagree. All those Barack supporters are certainly going to vote for Clinton in the general election if she wins the primary because having another 4 years of a republican presidency is absolutely unthinkable.

The Baron   August 26th, 2007 4:50 pm ET

Interesting…Regardless of your politican party, never ever count your eggs before they are hatched…

Tell me what has Mrs Clinton done for this country that is so wonderful? She is a caustic and polarizing figure in American Poitics. This isn't to say Mr Bush isn't so of the same. What the heck do I care what celebrities think? They want everyone else to follow laws and conservation, recycling ways that they themselves won't. So Ted, Mary and Carly, please sit down and shut up.

I would love to see all the canidadate to talk about what he or she has done to make this country GREAT. Stop bash everyone else. Talk only about you! What an interesting concept….Don't pointout the opponents mistake and faults, talk about your own accomplishments if they exist. America doesn;t need armchair quarterbacking right now.

Our next President needs to be a leader. If these candidates think that bashing and second guessing is leading, they are mistaken.

Mrs Clinton seems to forget she supported this war. While she might not like the direction like many others, the simple fact is she supported it.

Lets move past the debacle of Iraq and talk about America….Fix Health Care (Mrs Clinton failed her first time)…Fix Social Security….Stop companies from dump employee's futures thru the elimination of pension and benefits… Stop the corruption in politics….Stop porkbarrel…

Democrats took over Congress and promised to clean it up and all they did was continue the same 'ole policies.

American needs change and it won;t be found with Clinton.

Obama's campaign certainly isn't performing any miracles to narrow the gap with Hillary Clinton. Likewise, Hillary's approval under general election conditions has not improved.

Isaac's comments in this thread is pretty accurate. America is down to 10-20% who will probably be open to another party candidate.

Regarding Iraq, would you rather fight terrorists in the sand or on the metro?
That may sound simplistic but even if we did not go into Iraq, more attacks would be in the US eventually and New York and DC are the prime candidate cities regardless.

Regarding everyone being so MAD these days, look at the quality of the kids in our schools. Our next generation is more concerned about what they are entitled to vs what they should work for or earn. Bush is not the cause of every problem America is having.

Christian Molnar, Los Angeles, CA   August 26th, 2007 3:17 pm ET

Having allowed you to experience a personal attack, as you directed at the easily-bashed "Scott in Colorado," let's "move on", I could care less about the answer to the former question, so don't even consider venturing a response (and just to clarify, I am perfectly happy speaking spanish, por ejemplo, "quisiera mirar tortilleres" Tal vez, I would rejoice, if and only if, you were able construct a single proper sentence (in english or spanish or any lingua for that matter).

Dave, Miramar Beach Fl   August 26th, 2007 2:53 pm ET

I heard this anti Clinton garbage back in the 90's, and each time the Clinton's win their elections. Even at his lowest moment as president, Bill Clinton had a 61% approval rating. That is almost double of what G W Bush has right now.Hillary got almost 75% of all the votes in New York last November. Why was Rudy afraid to run against her in New York even after 9/11? You Neo-Cons are right, G W is not running for president. However, most Americans are pissed off at the Republicans right now that it wont make a difference who the Democrats have on the ticket. America is going to continue to save her self, and finish the job of removing the GOP out of power. America started last November with the Congress, and next year America will yank the GOP out of the White House. It will be a long time before you will see another GOP in the White House, after this President

One side blasts the other. That's just politics. It's how it's played. I despise Hillary Clinton, but am truly interested to see what she would do were she to win the presidency. For there will be another terrorist attack, or another Katrina, or a new war that needs to be fought, or possibly all three of those things, and I'll be sitting and watching closely as to how SHE, the spewer of very specific criticism, figures out how to do things better. And I hope she does. But somehow, I doubt it. She'll be beached on the shores of indecision and hesitation because I don't believe she has what it takes to make the difficult but good choices. I imagine that many of the things she has said about Bush and the Bush presidency will haunt her. Let's just say I'll be praying that if she wins that at the very least she has the wisdom to appoint a good cabinet and not a bunch of YES M'AMers.

IF there's one thing Progressives (the left)[thanks for the clarification, though I can safely wager that you will hang yourself later in your "comment" sir, oops, komrade), have done recently it is to UNITE [nice bold, nay, authroritative [naturally] exclamation, the democrats have united! [Um, ok.]. They have united America against the threat of Global Warming [simialr to the predicted global (new) ige age I assume], united America against reckless Foreign Policy [capitalized for emphasis, touching] and the ensuing propaganda [may i beg an example?, of course, typically the propoganda would lead, not follow], united America against [i thought for, i.e., in favor] tax breaks for the wealthy and are continuing to unite America on the issues of gun control and education spending [i appreciate the omnipotent attribution, however, i think it is safe to venture that GW has no measureable effect on the former ad statistically spent more per GDP than his former Eisenhower Republican predecessor. If ANYONE is "tearing apart" it would be the Drudge/O'Reilly/Limbaugh loving hatemongers that exemplify the lunatic fringe of the far-right [sincerely appreciate your diffrentiation here from the vast mjority of conservatives, like myself, who likewise despise these jag-offs]. They obviously have nothing better to do that to come onto blogs and post hateful comments about Hillary and Obama because they are AFRAID that their Troglydyte [SP?] ways are passing away. [beyond correctivity].

“When is someone from the Democratic party going to realize Bush is NOT running in 2008.”

While President Bush isn’t seeking re-election (too bad, he’d be easy to beat this time), all of the leading candidates for the Republican nomination support his position on the reckless and irresponsible war in Iraq. And since when is it out of bounds to criticize an incumbent administration in America?

As to the suggestion that the Democrats have not set forward substantiative plans for the Iraq debacle, I can only refer you to my favorite, the detailed federalist soft-partition plan advanced by Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Joe Biden:

All the other Democratic candidates have well-reasoned plans for resolving the Iraq crisis as well. A little research would make this clear.

The only ones who don’t have a viable plan for Iraq are the current Commander-in-Chief, and the under-qualified Republicans vying to replace him

Where is anytown? Can't be here in the USA, where REPUBLICANS have disgraced the constitution and the American people who voted them out in droves last election and will continue to decimate them in the coming ones.

As to, Adam, Plano, TX, and the other rabid, mindless, Hillary bashers; Blather like yours reinforces the support of those who will vote for her, and makes reasonable people, who are on the fence, see her as sympathetic, so, keep up the good work!

I apologize for the typos in the previous post. There are several. I type too fast for my own good sometimes.

The situation in our country really breaks my heart. The truth is both sides of the fence have shared issues and shared concerns. If voters were better educated, and if voters actually used their brains to objectively think about things, I truly believe we would find ourselves standing on common ground. We have some ENORMOUS problems to deal with, some problems that are dooming all Americans equally.

While we gleefully battle the other side for domination of this country, we simultaneously destroy ourselves.

don't lump all the democrats in with hillary clinton. she is so polarizing and 2 faced, she doesn't even belong in the same sentence as the likes of barack obama, john edwards, bill richardson, kucinich, biden, etc. she does not represent the democratic base.

Pat Tarver--Tecumseh OK   August 26th, 2007 1:19 pm ET

I think Bill Clinton was the greatest president ever in my life time. I would love to see Hillary become our next president, not only for her abilities but we'd be getting 2 of the greatest minds to figure out how to get us out of the mess that the Bush administration has got us into. You go girl.

Oh c'mon guys. Unless you're a 15 year old kid who zones out every time something other than MTV or MySpace is put in front of his or her face… or unless you happen to just be a COMPLETELY oblivious adult, you know good and well that attacks and blaming, and claims that you would have done much better if it had been YOUR decision, is just the way it's done, politics as normal.

We see it EVERY election, and from nearly every candidate. The truly eloquent uniters who are capable of building bridges and bringing people together are often more subtle in their attacks, but you'll be hard pressed to find ANY campaign in recent decades that doesn't attack the other candidates' character and positions.

This is not a partisan issue, fellas.

I don't belong to any party, and indeed hate the party system. I am not currently backing any candidate, democrat or republican or independent.

I do want to
