Peg, I'm disappointed. Do you not remember Texas also had a surplus until he made the same tax cuts here? ...before he left for office? ...then all of a sudden we had a deficit, and this was before 9/11?

The mystery to me is why democrats persist in believing the tax cuts benefitted mostly the wealthy which is completely untrue. Also untrue, is that most of the wealthy is Republican. I guess the dem's favorite mantra is what they want to believe anyway.

Ah, you are letting facts getting in the way of your thinking. BIG facts like the numbers you are citing aren't being paid attention to. So many just tune into Rush Limbaugh in the afternoon and get their daily dose of noise, hate, and obfuscation. Or they can get it the Fox Noise Channel at night. All of the "talking points" come from our former propaganda minister Karl Rove or Karl Rove wannabes.

Possibly this group might want to consider placing the blame on the group who increased government spending by the greatest percentage in 40 years and who gave tax cuts that mostly benefited the wealthy...who could that have been?

Bush and the Republican Congress inherited annual Budget Surpluses of $250 billion per year and turned them into an additional $ 2 trillion of debt. Do you think that had any effect on the future viability of Social Security?
