COLUMBIA, South Carolina (CNN) — Here's a quick look at what's making news in South Carolina politics today:

Fred Thompson takes the lead over Rudy Guiliani in South Carolina according to a new poll from the Los Angeles Times and Bloomberg. Hillary Clinton is still on top among Democrats.

Warren Tompkins' involvement in the The PhonyFred controversy is getting serious attention in Tompkins' home state. The Palmetto Scoop is all over the story. So is the Greenville News.

The ONE campaign added even more members to its South Carolina leadership team, including Lieutenant Governor Andre Bauer.

Before John McCain's "No Surrender Tour" kicks off here, the campaign is asking for troop donations like food and sun block, which they will put in shoe boxes and mail to U.S. soldiers overseas.

And did the Fred Thompson campaign misspell Gov. Mark Sanford's name?
