Wow, it would be nice if moveon.org actually spoke out for the truth in everything. It's just another polarizing, left-right, baloney paradigm. We need to see that it's not black and white or left and right. There's many different ways to analyze a situations which is why we need to look at things differently than we did in previous generations. Let's get excited about a person rather than a party's candidate. And democrats, how could you not fall in love with Ron Paul? The republican establishment along with Fox News hates him (and I mean HATES him) that's got to tell you something... He is the candidate that is really for the people, you can't get any better than that.

CNN again has betrayed it's readers.

Notice this line in the above "news" story?

"And despite condemnation from members of both parties over the ad in the New York Times, etc. etc. etc."

We even get a link to the "condemnation" story offered by CNN.

And as usual, they lied. Hard put to really justify any claim for honor by Democratic Party leaders, CNN finally drags up a couple "luke warm" objections. One was mildy critical of the "choice of words" in the ad, but would not for a moment object to the content of the ad, in fact defending the organizations' "right" to place such an ad.

Yet CNN pretends there was serious criticism of this despicable ad.

CNN lies, but I guess that isn't news either.

It seems that many people view politics as a kind of game, similar to football, where they have their favorite team and players, and support them no matter how good or bad they play. This is especially true among the extremes, both left and right. The problem is, unlike those made by sports teams, the decisions that our leaders make impact our lives, and the lives of our fellows.

Don't give your loyalty away so lightly, or your trust. I think people have forgotten that they have a responsibility to try to understand the issues and make informed decisions. Faith in God is fine, but that standard should not be applied to our political parties or politicians (or to the Media for that matter)!

Bush betrayed our trust as Americans by ignoring and BREAKING FISA laws and spying on U.S. citizens without even applying for the RETROACTIVE court warrants (this provision avoids any and all delays in needed espionage), by deceiving us into a needless war, but perhaps most of all by ignoring the repeated warnings of his top security advisors in the summer of 2001 that Al Qaida was planning something BIG to happen SOON and likely on U.S. soil, and taking yet ANOTHER month long vacation on his "ranch" in Crawford. So his claims that he is defying Constitutional laws to "protect" us are his crying "wolf" ad nauseum. THAT is betrayal personified.

People, people people!!!

Isn't anyone else tired of all this useless bickering?

Turns out most folks are in the 80% that is the middle of the bell curve -- why let the 10% left and 10% right extremes throw us into disarray like this?

Let's all find common ground in the middle somewhere. We have way too much work to do to fix our country to keep at it like this. What we're doing here accomplishes nothing but to bring advertising dollars to CNN.

I'm voting for Barack Obama, because I believe he's the only candidate who can stop all this madness and unite us again.

(To the next posters who will undoubtedly use the words "Osama", "Hussein", or "Naive/inexperienced": it's old and out of touch. Start thinking for yourself, and maybe you'll get past that eventually.)

Peace!

The following is unbelievably disgraceful statement:

"Anyone who defends this president and his administration, if you want to call it that, should have their head examined while at Guantanamo. The president is a Terrorist. He's part of the neocon new world order and an anti-christ in his actions. Look up George H.W. Scherff and read what Otto Skorzeny said on his death bed about the Bush.

"Bush never said the draw down was a "plan to end the war""

Why do you suppose the citizens of the US threw out all those Republican Senators in the last election and gave control to the Democrats? That was a huge swing in numbers, not one or 2 senators. This was a message, loud and clear, from the American people, to George H W Bush. But he chooses to ignore it.

People are opposed to Iraq war. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and the whole reason for us going there turned out to be a falsehood. They still haven't found any WMD's. How many years has it been?

This war is costing Trillions of dollars - debt that your great children will be trying to pay off. Money that could be better spent on Healthcare, better schools for our kids, benefits and training for all the people who have losat thier jobs to outsourcing and illegal immigration - any number of things. This war is also costing the lives of our young men and women. What's the death toll now, almost 4,000? And how many Iraqi civilians?

Bottom line - 1) The war is extremely costly, in terms of lives and dollars. 2) The reason for going to war was a lie. 3) Iraq does not want us in their country. 4) Iraq does not want a Democratic society. 5) After almost 4 years, Iraq still can't train any troops or put together its own police force or miltary, and doesn't seem to care to try. 6) At the end of the day, Iraq will not become an ally of the US. 7) The Democratic Congress was elected by the people to STOP this war. 8) It is the job of all politicians, right up to an including the president of the United States, to serve the will of the people.

The people have spoken. We want an end to the war. But George H W bush thinks he can do whatever he wants, and ignores the will of the people.

So yes, I'd say this is very clearly a betrayal of the American People, and a clear violation of the oath of office he took the day he became president.

Right in line with Dems attacking a standing US Military General in Patreaus is exactly "what" I expect from left wing radicals.

This is just about the perfect ad. The criminal Bush regime has betrayed our trust many times and I hope we can finally get some justice. Let's recall what Henry Hyde said about Clinton:
No greater harm can be done than breaking the covenant of trust between the President and the people; between the three branches of our government; and between the country and the world.

CLOSING REMARKS OF THE HONORABLE HENRY J. HYDE AT IMPEACHMENT TRIAL OF WILLIAM J. CLINTON JANUARY 16, 1999

Good for MOVEON, When the Repubs get all bent out of shape when the truth hits them in the face it indicates MOVEON is making a real difference in calling the Bush Administration on the lies that got us into this mess to start with. The American public has been bombarded with this right wing propaganda for so long it is hard for them to actually recognize the truth when it is spoken.

For someone who states that there aren't any easy answers to Iraq, you certainly have a talent for over-simplifying things.

The point of the ad is that the ad is meant to call Dubya to the carpet for misleading us into a war of choice. And, since there wasn't any indication of an Iraqi civil war PRIOR to our invasion, there wouldn't have been any need for us to go there in order to QUELL a civil war. I'm outraged that instead of using ALL of our resources in Afghanistan in order to fight the TRUE enemy, we "cut and ran" to Iraq based on ... you guessed it, fabrications. Hence, the MoveOn.org ad that will be published on Monday.

While there has always been divisivness between the parties, the self-declared "Uniter" and his cabal of incompetents have managed to divide this country to degrees we haven't witnessed in YEARS. This Admuddlestration has managed to alienate most of the country and a large part of it is because they find they have no use for the citizens as they do what they want, when they want and to whomever they want, without regard to what their EMPLOYERS think. It's this Admuddlstrations "my way or the highway" credo that has managed to divide this country.

And, no one is saying the war is a joke - just the people who implemented this war of choice. And, just because there are many dissenters to this war of choice, NO ONE is metaphorically spitting on the troops. We dissent because we know this is a war of choice and we are tired of them dying on a daily basis based on manipulation and lies.

Wallace,

THANK you for bringing up the Swiftboat ads. Can you all PLEASE make a significant distinction between:

1) Swift boat VETERANS that contradicted John Kerry's account and were offended by Kerry's accusations made to Congress as a soldier.

and

2) Moveon.Org (liberal rich kids) attacking General Petraeus who gave a balance report and made his best recommendations. It's up to Congress and the President to make the final call on military orders.

These are clearly two different scenarios.

Hey, Morons! Bush never said the draw down was a "plan to end the war" so your accusation that he was trying to "fool" us all is completely ridiculous. The fact is, there is no easy answer to the issues in Iraq. If we weren't there fighting the war and allowed a blood-bath of a civil war to occur, you'd be outraged that we were standing by doing nothing. Each party just wants to criticize the other -- it doesn't matter what the issue is.

I have NEVER understood why this country is divided by different political parties anyway. On one hand, we're supposed to be proud Americans -- "united we stand, divided we fall" yet party lines are the greatest divider of all. The Pledge of Allegiance claims we're "indivisible" but we've certainly proven that wrong! Here's an idea — forget left wing, right wing, liberal and conservative. How about leading by example according to a high moral code with ethics and justice for all? Forget racism between blacks and whites, racism is rampant between democrats and republicans. There's so much hatred between the two parties, it's sad. I don't think anyone wants to see a war, but you wouldn't like what would be happening right now if we weren't there either. Every time you say the war our brave men and women are fighting is a joke, you're spitting in the faces of the very people that are over there fighting and on the graves of those who have died in the process.

by making stay WAY beyond the time any reserve troops have EVER stayed in a combat situation.

Yeah, because most of the time we would have drafted soldiers instead of spreading the military so thin. This war is being lost by an incompetent President who refuses to put the half a million men we needed into Iraq. The problem was liberals would've prevented the draft in the first place. Apparently the time honored tradition (worldwide) of being called up to serve no longer matters to many in this country. We just here "no war." Guess what, the world doesn't really work that way.

It's interesting that while persons are very upset with MoveOn.org and it's personal attack on the general, how about many private surveys done by journalists including interviews with the servicemen etc. are saying the war effort is going VERY badly in Iraq by any benchmarks and has become an even more dangerous place.Isn't this reminicient of the noon day follies, where we were to believe the military because they were always so honest.Isn't Bush the commander and chief of said military and this guy's boss.

One thing we can all agree on is our servicemen and women deserve better than being stuck in this quagmire that has no good ending.

Now we are hearing there will be a reduction next year, which is actually the temporary surge. More of the same from the executive branch.

Most of us can understand this was started by a thoughless self indulgent little man who is a spoiled rich dry drunk whose daddy has always bailed his ass outta the messes he made in the past. Not this time and congress of both parties is to blame as well, not the American people who put their trust in these folks.

Myself, I am much more upset that there doesn't seem to be any Democrats out there that have any more backbone than before or this guy in the White House would be facing impeachment. Why? Because they are in line to inherit the Presidents office and all it's expanded power and can't wait to abuse the balance of powers just as the Republicans have. I say vote as many as possible outta their jobs next year of BOTH parties to send them the message that they are accountable for their actions just like you or me.

Sorry sharkey, but I don't prescribe to the GOP way of politics. That said, I'm guessing you were mighty outraged with the Swift Boaters and Uncle Karl when he destroyed Max Cleland and John McCain, right? I could care less if Rudy paid for an ad that is false, it's his money to spend. However, without concrete evidence, he is blaming people who had absolutely nothing to do with the ad. Enough already - aren't there more important issues to get outraged about? The first MoveOn ad was tasteless - I disagree with the headline of it, but I don't necessarily disagree with the message. This adminstration certainly hasn't given us any reason TO believe them. If you believe that MoveOn's message was that they don't support the troops, nor the war, that's YOUR take and Rudy didn't call anyone out. the point of the ad was that anything that comes out of this administration is suspect, plain and simple.

And, by your implying that the only reason dissenters have the right to protest is because of the Military. While the Military has done their job superbly in protecting us for over 200 years, I believe it was the Founding Fathers who specifically penned this right into our Constitution.

You can stop YOUR whining now.

P.S. - I am not a card-carrying member of MoveOn as you strongly ASS-U-me. Didn't your mother ever teach you to NEVER ASS-U-me?

Anyone who defends this president and his administration, if you want to call it that, should have their head examined while at Guantanamo. The president is a Terrorist. He's part of the neocon new world order and an anti-christ in his actions. Look up George H.W. Scherff and read what Otto Skorzeny said on his death bed about the Bush.

It doesn't really matter who the add is coming from, because it's true. George Bush has drove this country into the ground both economically and politically. We will be entrenched in a massive debt; our children will be entrenched in a massive debt; their children will be entrenched in a massive debt. Any of you people that are whining about some stupid add, need to get your priorities straight, or, maybe you need to clear the smoke out of your head. Start thinking about the future and the consequences that this absolutely catastrophic failure of a "war" has had and will have on this country.

And don't give me any of this partisan BS, saying that I'm a Democrat, because I am more conservative (traditional) than any of you chicken-hawk neo-cons on here.

James, Phoenix AZ

So now is the time to stop the attack ads? But it was okay in 2004? Where were you during the "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" nonsense or the controversial ad attacking Harold Ford?

Hypocrisy! I don't care for these "attack ads" either but at least try to be objective if you truly want to "stop the spin".

But at least this add isnt suggesting Americans who swore thier lives to serve and protect the government in the military as traitors.

Wanting to bring American soldiers home from a stupid, unwinnable, illegal war is not, of course, calling them "traitors."

Cowards like yourself, more interested in kissing the butt of a coward and traitor like Bush - *you're* the people screwing over our soldiers. *You're* the ones betraying them, crapping on them - by making stay WAY beyond the time any reserve troops have EVER stayed in a combat situation.

The ad hasn't caused to look more at the statistic, it's confirmed once again that the far left liberals of the world do not understand what it takes for democracy to triumph over terroism!
----
Where to start... you should look at the stats, start with # of soldiers and innocent Iraqi civilians killed or maimed. Also, Iraq is in major crisis, for example, 70% of the people have no clean water and they are leaving their homes out of desperation. Next, how does a moveon.org ad confirm that a "liberal" leader cannot deal with terrorism? Do you believe that bombing a country into submission and ramming democracy down their throat will thwart terrorism? Who was in office when the most deadly terrorist attacks on the U.S. occurred, ON AMERICAN SOIL?! Do you think after Bush's speech just last night, in which he communicates no military withdrawal and permanent U.S. presence in Iraq, that terrorists are not going to retaliate? Our country is sliding further down a slippery slope, I truly feel sorry for the next elected President, but at least W is getting booted back to Crawford. 1-20-09

Sam said,"Truth hurts, get over it republicans. You're the majority who voted to re-elect the biggest mistake in the history of presidents back into the White House".

Hey Sam! Do you think maybe a Democrat or two voted for GWB? How about a few independent voters?

Oh, by the way, If Al Gore had taken his own home state, he would have been president. Oh and by the way, if you want to elect a president, you need something stronger than John 'waffles' Kerry.

As for the 'biggest mistake in the history of presidents', that would have to be Jimmy 'malaise' Carter.

By the way - Carter didn't win - Ford lost.

oh boo hoo Rudy Giuliani...

even if the ads are a little over the top, no one on the right has any room to call for "censure" or "rebuke" in regards to these ads...

Read any conservative publication, and you will see that for years they have been calling liberals "traitors", "communists", "defeatists", "un-american" etc... organizations like Moveon are simply the whirlwind they are reaping for their endless character assasination over the past 6 years. Swiftboats anyone?

I guess CNN doesn't like having people post the truth behind the lies of Moveon.org advertisments. I guess that's what we get from the "free press."

General Petraeus testified that the troop levels should be drawn down to pre-surge levels. Bush is taking the advise of his general. It's public information. There is no betrayal.

That sort of takes all the wind right out of the Moveon.org ad.

Whether we like MoveOn or not, it is absolutely true that George Bush has betrayed the American people. The removal of 30,000 troops is something he MUST do because of limits on deployments. Plus, do we honestly think that violence is going to stay down in Iraq? We're never going to fully pacify the insurgency no matter how many bombs we drop or how many people we kill.

What's exactly what I would expect from a person from Kentucky!

Do you really understand what is going on? Moveon.org has the guts to stand up and be counted.

We have the right to speak up against the people in charge.

MoveOn.org has done more to make me a lifelong Republican than any other group or individual I have ever encountered. For that I thank you.

President Bush is talking about the terrorism for the last six years to convince the people that the Republican Party and "He" is doing a great job to America and the world. But he never say how many people lost their lives including military and the civilians and how many people got injured in this last six years.
He like to send more military to Iraq to widen the graveyards of Iraqi soil, if democrats stay silent for a few hours. If one of the Superpower leader's mind and brain would be reversed it should be the end of the world,.

Any fool that thinks the 21st Century era GOP is the friend of the middle class is blind, dumb or stupid.

The Republican PR machine taught us to show no mercy and attack, attack, attack. So I say HOORAY for Moveon.org.

Veronica said,"Some one PLEASE get Rudy his diaper, his binky and his blankie! He's making a MESS of himself".

I see you're follwing the lead of MoveOn. If you can't make your case with facts, use smear, character assassination, and name-calling tactics.

MoveOn effectively told the country withthat ad that that they neither support the war or our troops and Rudy Giuliani called them on it. Good.

Anybody over at MoveOn (or you Veronica) understand that the right to publish that kind of material, as they did in the NY Times, is only possible because our armed forces, let by generals like Gen. David Petraeus, have protected those freedoms over the past 200+ years?

And now you want to call Rudy Giuliani a cry baby. Hmmm. Seems like you're whining pretty good yourself here.

Too bad the republicans can't take the heat that they started in 2004.

To Moveon - keep up the good work and place some impeach Bush ads!

Moveon.Org is a 501-c-4 organization which does NOT provide tax deduction to contributors. HOWEVER - Moveon.Org does receive significant contributions from The San Francisco Foundation (which calls itself a 501-c-3, providing tax deductions to contributors).

It's time to investigate Moveon.Org and it's contributors - exposing these corrupt organizations.

Americans Coming Together (ACT) which was a front for George Soros and other rich liberals was recently fined over $750,000 for violating the FEC regulations in the last election.

NOW is the time to stop these organizations from attempting to hijack the US Presidential Election.

Posted By Providence, RI: "Do you know Rudy lives with two gay men? Nothing against gay men. Would you elect a President who lives with two gay men? Is it conservatism?"

He does not. He temporarily moved in with his friends while he was going through his divorce. That was in 2000. He consequently married Judith Nathan in 2003.

A man goes through a divorce, moves out, and stays with friends. Is that unusual? I guess it is the fact that the men are gay that you seem to be upset about. That makes you a homophobe.

Do you know all the friends of President Bush? I doubt it.

Giuliani has never described himself as a conservative. His stance on social issues is well publicized. Your feeble attempt at warping facts failed. You're going to have to do better than that.

Why is CNN running a news item about a paid advertisement they are about to start running on Monday? Isn't this a terrible conflict of interest, reporting as legitimate news the opinions of someone who has paid them a lot of money for an ad campaign they will be involved in?

Mr Pariser,

The reason your little club wants to get past your attack on the General is because picking on someone's name in the fashion that noyoumoveon.org did smacks of racist behavior.

Didn't your mommy ever teach you that it was time to put on your big boy pants and quit the sticks and stones method of communications? Or would you rather resort to tit for tat, Mr. Eel-Eye Pass Gasser,

I have a hard time to tell which side moveon.org is with? But at least this add isnt suggesting Americans who swore thier lives to serve and protect the government in the military as traitors. That last ad helped the republicans a lot more then it did dems. Leave bashing the miltary out of politics for the military has no choice to due what the president orders them to do. And almost everyone knows that. I wished we had a choice what I can do or not due in the military. Then I wont be sitting out here in Iraq with all these American hatters tring to figure out a new way to kill us and teach their kids to have more kids and keep this never ending war going.
