Clinton referred to Cheney as 'Darth Vader' Wednesday night.
WASHINGTON (CNN) – She has been sharply critical of Vice President Dick Cheney in the past, but Democratic Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton took it up a notch Wednesday night, calling the president's No. 2 "Darth Vader."
The New York Democrat referred to Cheney as the infamous Star Wars villain at a New York fundraiser when she described his efforts to keep Republican senators behind the Iraq war.
"Vice President Cheney came up to see the Republicans yesterday," Clinton said at the fundraiser. "You can always tell when the Republicans are getting restless, because the Vice President’s motorcade pulls into the Capitol, and Darth Vader emerges."
The crowd erupted in laughter.
"I’m not invited to their meetings and I don’t know what he says or does," she added. "But all the brave talk about bringing our troops home, and setting deadlines, and getting out by a certain date just dissipated."
The comments came during an informal talk on stage with former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack and retired Gen. Wesley Clark, both supporters of Clinton.
But this isn't the first time the vice president has been likened to Darth Vader. Cheney actually made the comparison himself in an interview with CNN's John King in June of 2006.
"I suppose people sometimes look at my demeanor and say, well, he's the Darth Vader of the administration," he said then.
– CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney

This is funny. No doubt though he is Darth Vader.
I'm sure this was an attempt to go after the nerd vote..
Not a good comparison at all; we know from the movies that Darth Vader was the wreck of a once-great man, who found the strength to redeem himself in the end by disobeying his leader.
Funny...she charges her base with this crap...but doesn't understand that the other 70% of the voters don't trust nor like her....go Hillary....go away.
Wow, real mature Hillary...I mean, I'm no fan of Dick Cheney either but do we really want to stoop to childish name-calling? Some "experience" you're flaunting...
Hillary is right and the sad thing is Darth Vader's 'movitation' always helps the GOP fall back in line kind of like when your grandpa visits and brings gifts when you are a little kid.
Back in August we all shared some laughs about the video interview that showed Comments made back in 1994 by the then US Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney about Iraq saying that invasion of Iraq could only mean TROUBLE.
Here’s a lighter video about Cheney for some more giggles – not quite Darth, but he's still a monster in this one.
Didn't Darth Vader turn good in the end? Only a Sith deals in absolutes.
Doesn't Hillary understand that Darth Vader was cool as well as powerful???
I believe that Sen. Clinton would be the first to admit that pjeople want to hear the differences in what they stand for, not calling names -like children do.
hey, Hillary:
careful what you wish for, you might actually get it!!!!....
oh, wait... maybe, just maybe, she thinks she is Princess Leia!!!!....hahahahahahahahaha
i think cheyney is more like the emperor...
I cannot believe Senator Clinton insulted Darth Vader like that!
Isn't that slander? Coming from a woman whose marriage involved adultry, I wouldn't put much stock in what she has to say.
Darth Vader is a good analogy.
What the Republicans do in private, will eventually be exposed.
This current regime will have to answer many questions, long after they're gone from office.
I had to laugh as I have referred to this cold-souled hijacker of America as 'Darth Cheney' for years. Bin Laden must be thrilled to see him damaging America from the inside out over and over.
Apparently the only way any democrat thinks they can gain the confidence of the American people is to make personally derogatory remarks about others instead of realizing that they people of America are looking for articulate discourse of facts, and real solutions to our extant and emerging needs and problems. Thanks again to Ms (Rodham)Clinton!
The problem with Sen. Clinton's analogy, is that Darth Vader was the Emperor's apprentice, the latter being the real brains behind the downfall of the democratically operated Galactic Republic by means of a self-created needless war to ensure his rise to power [Iraq?], hopeless fear [the phony war on terror?, if you're not with us, you're against us?], and scapegoating by blaming the peaceful Jedi [culture war against the gays?]. Thus, her analogy should be reversed, where Bush is the apprentice Darth Vader, and Cheney is the Emperor, i.e., brains behind the operation.
How sad that someone who is seeking the most important gov't executive position in the world stoops so low as to resort to such tasteless comments to rally her supporters; but now that she broached the subject, I do recall a certain bad witch in the story of OZ .... and the remblance is rather scary ...
Typical liberal response; instead of debating the issues in a professional manner, let's resort to name calling. At least it's a change from the usual "all Republicans are stupid" (they did it to Dan Quayle, Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, and of course, the current President Bush).
With all of the skeletons in Queen Hillary's closet, I'd refrain from personal attacks (it's just a suggestion).
It's a great comparison - and please, hear me out. Darth Vader was, at the height of his power, more machine than man. Dick Cheney has had four heart attacks and several electronic implants to control his body, and thusly prolong his life. Dick is, after all, the contemporary bionic man, so this parellel Hillary Clinton gave us does suit well.
For me the mystery is, if he had four heart attacks prior to becoming VP, why has he not had more of them in his stress-filled job? It does seem demonic to be impervious to the high probability of another heart attack.
At least Cheney isn't Jabba the Hutt. That's Rush Limbaugh. Bush is Emperor Palpatine, and every Republican is a storm trooper. Wow we have enough for a remake!
OK folks, admit it, who hasn't ever thought of Cheney as being the Darth Vader of the Bush administration? The comment may have been a tad inappropriate but nonetheless, it's funny
Mrs. Clinton ended her description too early. She should have said that he is Darth Vader and lives in a galaxy far far away from reality.
Darth Vader was the one who brought balance to the Force. In the end it was he who brought about the beginning of peace and justice in the universe and the return of the jedi. Cheney is no Darth Vader, the emperor yes.
I'm no fan of Dick Cheney just as much as the next guy, but I have to say it's pretty funny that a potential "future president" is name-calling her adversaries...
I find it interesting that I have now posted twice to this page, and have subsequently had both posts removed. Isn't it interesting that Sen Clinton is allowed to called Vice President Cheney Darth Vader, but when I make the comparison to her as Two-Face it is removed. Some sort of copyright problem with Marvel Comics that I am not aware of? Or could it be CNN attempting to provide a certain slant to the responses. Who knows, but I most certainly have my suspicions.....
Nerds? Hello? you are showing your age and how out of touch you are with this generation by calling people who know what darth vader is all about "nerds". you are writing on a blog from a computer! Isnt the conservative definition of a nerd is someone who spends a lot of time on the computer? Dont throw stones if you live in a glass house.
Not only is Hillary incredibly smart and committed to make this a better country, but she is very funny too. The description was right on and everyone knows exactly what she means.
And Hillary is the Ice Queen... She must be going after the immature name calling vote now
Does not matter , They are all Illuminati.
Wow! I can only imagine the flak the Republicans would get if Giuliani or Thompson likened Hillary to the "Ice Queen" from "The Chronicles of Narnia."
Way to go Hillary...your are right on...don't pay any attention to those that critique your every move....
Yes Hillary(heavy breathing), I am your father..
Given the expansion of Hillary's waistline over the past few years, she could fill the role of Jabba the Hut.
Barack Obama as Lando Calrisian, Pretty Boy John Edwards as Luke Skywalker, Rudy Guiliani as an Ewok, Mitt Romney as Han Solo, and John McCain as Emporer Palpatine...this would be a pretty darn good cast for Star Wars Episode VII: The Race for Galactic Power???
How can any person with a name like Clinton say anything disparaging about anyone else. Here's a person who has had more scadals than Bayer has aspirins with a husband who turned the White House into a Who– House.
She's a beaut!
He is worse than Darth Vader, at least he was only evil in a fictional sense, Cheney is evil in real life.
A bunch of weak willed, no backbone, dorks would come up with such a comparison. A very good example of why conservatives find you pansies, out of touch with reality. Thats exactly what Hi'liar'y Clintons campaign boils down to; a head in the clouds childish fantasy.
Can any of you criticizing Hillary for making a little joke say that you yourselves have never made such a comment about a friend, relative or co-worker? A little 'ribbing' here & there shouldn't bother us this much – we even promote the likes of Leno & Letterman who make careers doing it!
Hey gang, even Cheney joked about being compared to Darth Vader:
http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/politics/news-article.aspx?storyid=67650
How dare Hillary insult Darth Vader like that! He ended up somewhat redeeming himself in the end. All nerds will know that it's more appropriate to call Cheney the Emperor, who was and remained an evil Sith Lord, until his very timely demise.
It was just a joke people, relax!
Terrible Comparison...Fatally Flawed Hillary still doesn't really KNOW what she's talking about; she's just talking to hear herself 'talk.' A comedian, she is NOT. Wake up, Democrats...Is it REALLY your Heart's Desire to see Fatally Flawed Hillary in the White House? What a joke! 'Qualified?'....Hillary is NOT!
Lighten up people, she was making a light hearted joke, nothing more. Have you all forgotten how the right wing went after her daughter Chelsea. Now that was disgraceful, perhaps an all time low in US politics. I'm sure you were all far more outraged by that, right?, This is just a bit of light humor, I bet even Cheney had a chuckle.
she may feel like he is darth vader but around here we think of Hillary as one of Satan's Demon Leader's
hey, hillary. i spoke to dick. he said ; i know you are what am i?
Who's Chewbacca?
If the helmet fits ...
Why, I do believe that Hillary is spot-on. There is no question in my mind that Cheney is evil incarnate.
This is mildly amusing, since people have been calling Cheney Darth Vader for years (including Cheney himself, so calm down, Hillary bashers). But, seriously, is this really important? No, it's not. A candidate's proposals for healthcare, education, tax policy, immigration, foreign policy, Iraq, etc., THOSE are important issues. But a candidate calling someone else Darth Vader, besides the fact that he resembles the Emperor more than Vader? I don't see why it warrants the attention, except to give dorks like me a chance to expound on our Star Wars knowledge (go Pat from Tattooine!).
She knows what she needs to do. Such comments are essential for her to make if she wishes to win the nomination of the party of hate. Republicans cannot make comments like this since that party is about tolerance, respect, and honesty. Liberals will disagree with this because it is the truth and at the center of their ideology is dishonesty. Not all of the left will hear it though, they are busy marching for thier support of the idea that white kids need to be beat up and that minorities who beat the crap out of them should be rewarded and given hero status in Jena today.
I always thought this evil, greedy man looked like the Penguin from Batman. I can just see him biting the head off of a live fish. In addition, Laura Bush looks like the Joker with that red lipstick, and her husband adds to the cast as Robin, boy wonder! Unfortunately for the citizens of this country, that group is missing a Batman, the lead hero.
"If Dick Cheney is Darth Vader, then Hillary Rodham Clinton is the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of OZ."
Regards,
Ames F. Tiedeman
If Cheney is Darth Vader, then Bush must be ... Jar Jar Binks.
Well come on, they have the same ear size and language skills.
Seriously though, this is a stupid comment on Senator Clinton's part, but then this seems to be the week for that kind of thing from a lot of the candidates and Jesse Jackson.
Maybe next week we can get back to the real issues.
I wonder what the average IQ of a Hillary supporter is...
After all that talk about daddy getting W into office, none of the liberals want to talk about Billy gettin Hill into office. Mind you, she's a mindless moron and will get destroyed in a 1 on 1 debate by almost anyone. CERTAINLY by Cheney. Cheney is a self-made man of great intelligence, he just has a different view of the world. I'll take different over a moron like Hillary any day.
Well, though I may not approve of Mr. Cheney, Hillary's comment does not take into account the full extent of Darth Vader's character. How narrow minded. Darth Vader saved the galaxy by destroying the evil Emperor. He was not evil inside and was forced into his position by love. Perhaps she should do some research before she throws names around.
Hillary Clinton can say whatever she wants and draw any comparisons she wants to because when all is said and done she has absolutely no chance of becoming president.
Too many people hate her and her nomination will only rally the Republican base to come out of the woodwork and support the Republican nominee.
Bring it on Hillary and enjoy your campaign. It is all you have. Maybe you will go away once you lose.
Thats all well and good coming from Jobba The Hutt Clinton!
Any credit to jon stewart and the daily show? I could have sworn they were the first to draw that analogy about a month or so ago. It's not a major point or anything, I just don't like her and I do like Jon Stewart. So, I vote we give credit where credit is due.. (and strip it from her)... Just a thought.
-Obama '08
Respectfully, I must disagree with Ms. Clinton. At the end of the day, Vader turned out to be an honorable being. I doubt that Cheney will share that fate.
I just think he is bent on becomng the "Great Dictator" of the Eurasian continent and the Republicans "think" he is going the share that power with them.
I always thought of Rove as Vader, Cheney as the Emperor and Bush as Jarjar.
In other news Hillary farted today, story at 11:00.
The MSM blows the Jena 6 story and only reports it after race baiter Jesse Jackson says something stupid about Obama.
This is why, they are so busy reporting childish and needless stories as "journalism" and forgetting the big picture.
Why did CNN not have on the ticker the 850 Iraq war veterans and their families chanting USA – USA and giving George Bush a standing ovation this week?
My bad, Hillary burped that day.
I only WISH that Cheney was a fictional character.
All I know is that the Force is not with the voters this next election.
Aha! So THAT'S how they keep GOP senators supporting the war!
JEDI MIND CONTROL!
Some of you people posting comments on this blog need to lighten up! People throw around stuff like this all the time...Cheney even called himself the same thing.
NavyFamily:
What does the fact that her husband cheated on her have anything to do with trusting what she says? That was an interesting comment for sure.
As a Republican I think its cool that Cheney is compared to Darth Vader. And to 'Navy Family', she didnt commit adultery, Bill did. She shouldnt have to pay.
Tedious, wearying, not even funny to hear people calling H's. comment tasteless, libelous, low-class etc. when the person they're defending dropped an f-bomb on a Senator.
So you get upset at Hillary calling Cheny Darth Vade (which he himself did). I don't care for Hillary Clinton but you people need to stop being so hypocritical. You should read about what politicians used to call each other. You know back in the days of Jefferson and Franklin. Real politicians who wanted a decent country. Not the current lot of So called republican and democrats we are stuck with.
What does that make Norman Hsu???
Oh yeah, he's one of Hillary's "Hilltoppers", the group of felons who raise dough for this calculating hypocrite.
I wish he'd call her Jabba the Hutt.
So you get upset at Hillary calling Cheny Darth Vade (which he himself did). But I didn't hear the ourage when Cheny told a Senator to go F*@k himself. I don't care for Hillary Clinton but you people need to stop being so hypocritical. You should read about what politicians used to call each other. You know back in the days of Jefferson and Franklin. Real politicians who wanted a decent country. Not the current lot of So called republican and democrats we are stuck with.
This is truly a fake controversy. Democrats have been calling Cheney "Darth Vader" for six years now. It's a joke and it's funny because the shoe fits.
Not a fair comparison. Dick Cheney has never shown the courage, vision or competence required to command a galactic empire.
I suppose the Darth Vader movie character symbolizes Satan, so the name fits to some extent. Cheney is certainly evil, like Bush and other CEOs that control the GOP. They are all Satan's minions that take from the poor and give to the rich while using deceit so people hurt most by their policies vote for them. Thus, the term understates the VP.
Its OK to make fun of evil ones.
Well at least we know who Chaney is. But who is Hillary? If she is George Soros / Move On. Org that is even worse. At least Darth Vader didn't belittle and call his defense commanders liars. How goofy can anybody be as to attack your own army? I think it is obvious who the real Benedict Arnold is.
I'm still trying to figure out why any right minded democrat would vote for Clinton. She constantly attacks people to try and make herself look better. Look at the past any woman in their right mind who found out that their husband was cheating would leave them in a second. Not Clinton though because she knows that if she walked out she would become the low life nobody that she really is. Here's an idea America wake up if you want a sloth in office vote for Clinton but if want this country to go on vote for someone with some intelligence.
I'll take Hillary over VP Vader any day. But, I gotta admit that the Darthman does have a more interesting look.
I don't like Cheney, but Hillary is no Princess Leia.
Let's be serious here. If Cheney called himself Darth Vader and this moniker is also used by his opponents, then doesn't that make Bush the Emporer? Or is that Karl Rove?
The attempt to reach younger generation? ...you've already accomplished that, Hillary. I was your husband's supporter and my kids grew up watching Clinton's scandals unravel... no one is more cynical about politics than our young. There is no redemption for you. Just go away...
I think she meant VOLDERMORT
It's funny how people would dissect a comment that is meant to be a joke. And whether you like it or not offline, Clinton got her laughter for the joke.
Indeed Cheney knew and made that comparison (of himself and Darth Vader) himself. Did anyone of you readers who posted in the comments think that Cheney was trying to court nerd votes or be funny or appeal to those voters that might otherwise find him stiff? I highly doubt it.
Just another example of how Hillary will say anything to get a vote. As if the democratic party doesn't do the same thing.
So nice that the Democrats in this campaign dont result to childish name-calling as they claim. Disgusting. Doesnt Hillary realize that every Republican is pulling for her to win the nomination so that her shrill unpopular personality alone will be exposed and ultimately defeat her?
Is this the same Hillary Clinton who often schreeches about the the "politics of personal destruction" and "mean-spirited" conservatives? The only explanation is that she was misquoted because she is much too principled to ever say or do something that she rallies against. (Yeah...Right)
He is not Darth Vader. He actually the evil emperor in the Star Wars saga. He was behind the scenes "Insidiously" planning everything and putting Bush to implement his notorious plans. That really makes Bush the character Vader. Don't worry we are approaching now in the episode 6 stages of the administration when he and all the Republican lackys get defeated by the rebellion and a cheer is heard around the world. Unfortunately our Darth never sees the good side of the force.
I am sick and tired of politians using name calling and other senseless chatter instead of stating factual intelligent information. Clinton is acting like a child and will say anything to sway those that can't use reason to figure things out.
Repulican senators cannot think on their own anymore so that they don't offend Cheney and Bush. Putting their party plan or can say "putting Bush and Cheney plan" before the citizen that voted for them .Without voters, there is no republican nor their plan. Republicans senators follow your heart and do the right thing. It will be dignify to loss next election by following your heart, than to win and live with pain and guilt for the rest of your life. Remember those soldiers have daughters, sons, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers and other family members and they have life like you and me.
Thank you.
I'm far from being a Hillary fan but I must say the image she creates with her statement is pretty darn funny. Even Cheney himself recognizes the similarities.
I am not American. I am not familiar with the Star Wars culture. Ms Rodham Clinton appears to be.
Mr Cheney is a very capable person. He appears to be able to formulate and execute strategy. That is reflected in the camaleonic abilities of your current administration. It is obvious to an external observer such as myself that the GOP has now entered the pre-elections damage-repair phase.
Ms Rodham Clinton has spotted it. On this issue she is now intent to lay it bare for the American nation to see.
Good politics. Not much seems to evade her attentiveness.
Patriots defend the Constitution, not those who abuse it. They stand behind the Republic established by the Founding Fathers, which has no resemblance to the Empire. Those who mouth the motto "I stand behind my President or Vice President, right or wrong," are either downright partisan or servile and unAmerican.
A true conservative is a patriot of the Republic, not of the Empire.
Hey Patroit, Kansas...Regarding your comment about the dems having no backbone, weak willed, dorks, and conservatives consider us pansies & out of touch...the last 7 years speaks for itself as for how the dems see the GOP/conservatives/christian right/republicans who seem unable to tell the truth, are all hypocrites, judgemental, secretive, heads buried in the Iraq sand, no leadership skills whatsoever, watch GW or Karl Rove dance & you will know what a real dork is...
Cheney makes Darth Vader look like a kitten. No one should be shocked by this comparison as he himself likened himself to Darth, which should be interesting. Perhaps he is sending us a clue...
Yea, too bad Cader wasn't the one keeping the senators for the war. Only one of many things Clinton is only partially informed about.
Point of order here.
Cheney is Emperor Palpatine. One could then assign George Bush as Darth, but Anikin started out good then got corrupted. And in RETURN OF THE JEDI he redeemed himself.
Other than that, Episode III does a profound job reminding us where we are headed.
Very mature. Good to see Hillary's (2nd) Presidency will not have any decorum either. At least "Vader" wasnt chasing interns during a governmental shutdown as her husband was during her 1st.
It will be nice having a president with a sense of humor again!
Come on people. It was a joke! Cheney is a joke! Bush is a joke! See how they all mesh well together?
You people need to grow up and realize that it was a joke. The crowd laughed when she said it. Why can't you?
Go away Hillary. Your juvenile tactics are quite evident. Her anger is not just in politics but with everything and everyone she deals with. It must be nice for her to think she can do no wrong. What an idiot.
I guess if VP Chaney is likened to Dart Vader it would be ok to liken Hillary to Tokyo Rose.
The analogy, that she would sell our nation and our brave troops out at a time where we are finally making headway.
We have not finished a cause we have been involved in all the way back to Korea, and we are still paying the price there. Let the Generals run the war, Congress isnt even doing good at running the nation. God bless America
Does that mean that Rove was Emperor Palpatine and Bush is Jar Jar?
I like to see these two go at each other..two villains from opposite ends who have two things in common, arrogance and military experience.e
I don't mean to be insulting but after just listening to Bush on CNN spout his ridiculous realities on the many issues put before him, it's time for Americans' to get real serious about electing your next President!
He just stated that his IQ level on economics was 101 so he didn't know much on that subject but he did know how to manage the American economy and insure a surplus! This after his many billions of spending on the Iraq war.
He refused to answer a question from CNN's David twice and put his little boy angry face on! He is a complete inept nincompoop! And I would think Americans would be more concerned about his replacement than constantly slamming Hillary.
I hope Americans soon start to give this Campaign the serious attention it deserves. I hope Americans start to seriously focus on their next President. I hope Americans will begin investigating other candidates' backgrounds and assessing their leadership capabilities to ensure you don't elect another moron. And in my view, you don't have many Candidates running who can fill the bill.
Are you voting for Loser Giulani? He couldn't even manage his marriages or lead New York. And his perceived greatness of himself is seen only by him. It's called Narcisstic.
Or, is it Romney? Who precariously became a billionaire and has all the luxuries that entails. But still can't decide which side of the fence he's on on any issue. And understanding America's Middle Class will certainly be out of his reach.
Or Thompson?
Who has no experience except his short term as Govenor, has no leadership capabilities, or vision for America. He can't even con a good leadership game.
Maybe McCain? Who is just another Bush Clone that will keep military in Iraq till Hell freezes over or they miraculously Win an unwinable war.
Ron Paul? who looks so frail I don't know if he'll last till Election time. And whose vision is so out of touch with reality it could be the next fiction novel.
Edwards? who needs his wife to make his decisions for him. And is only in the race still due his wife's health problem having convenient timing.
America has three choices for survival my friends, Biden, Richardson, or Clinton. Obama would make a good Vice but he needs more time before he's ready to be President.
So it's time to stop the inane name calling and egg throwing. It's time to get serious about saving your Nation. It's time to make sure you elect a CREDIBLE Leader for the future versus another moron.
The world is watching and from my corner of the Globe, a Credible Leader for America's future it not looking real promising.
If Cheney is Darth Vader then what does that make Clinton? Jabba the Hutt?
FUNNY!
This coming from NURSE RATCHED.
And Karl Rove was the Emperor.
I think Senator Clinton meant to be humorous while making her point...in which she succeeded evidently. My favorite comment on Cheney was a Wolcott comment in Vanity Fair associated with a photo of Cheney standing in the shrubs at the White House intently listening to a press conference by President Bush. Wolcott called Cheney the scariest garden gnome imaginable or something to that effect. I agree.....
Does this mean george suros is hitler?
As long as no one minds comparisons, I have no problem with her comment as it coming from a person who can be likened to Lorena Bobbitt as I am sure Hill has castrated her husband until after her election.
Does Hillary know that in the end, Darth Vader turned out to be a Hero! He saved Luke an killed the Emperor.
I totally diagree with this similarity. The Emporer is much more in line with the likeness of Dick Cheney. GW, is that Vader character.
I've just gained respect for her.
Someone said earlier we shouldn't put much stock in what someone says if they've ever been cheated on by a husband. Yeah, that makes sense, genius. /sarcasm When did Republicans become a bunch of Nancy-Boys? Can't even take a movie comparison without whining about it. Republicans are going to get nailed to the wall come '08...and after seeing people defend the likes of Guiliani and Cheney, it wil be well deserved. I used to have the utmost respect for Republicans (I was one). Now the freakin' Libertarians seem more grown up than today's conservatives. When Democrats seem more frugal than the supposed conservative party, we're in trouble.
Sen. Hilary Clinton and her informal elementary comments should show our uneducated left Americans all states should bleed red.
Hillary should talk. She reminds me of "Gollum" from the Lord of the Rings.
With regards to Power - "My Precious"
We need a REAL Change in the Whitehouse, that I why I am voting for an Independent.
http://www.GrassoForPresident.com
What an insult to Darth Vader!!!
Hillary Clinton has certainly misspoken here as Darth Vader was a powerful figure who was able to utilize the power of the Force while Dick Cheney is a powerful figure only able to utilize the power of the Farce.
I can't wait til Hilary gets elected, and I'm really, really looking forward to watching all of the Republicans collectively wet their pants when she gets sworn in.
What an insult to Darth Vader!
Way to go Hillary you are right on...by the way CMS, CA....President Clinton could have gotten a prositute (Vitter) or maybe gone to a men's bathroom (Craig) and tapped his foot for some action or lied to the entire country about WMD...what President Clinton done was wrong BUT you right wingers seem to think that when it is a republican that it is OK & that you all are above everyone else when it comes to morals well you are NOT...
Cheney has always reminded me of a slimy green lizard who lives under a bridge somewhere. Don't let your puppy dog get too near!
It is clear to me now that the Republic no longer functions. I pray one will bring sanity and compassion back to the Senate.
Hilary uses old ways of politicking, I hope Obama doesn't go down that road.
I would say he is DEATH VADER,not Darth Vader.I liked Darth Vader alot more than Cheney any day.At least with Darth you could tell he was evil but Cheney tries to hide it(not very well though).
Ohhhhhhh, lighten up people. Set aside your political biases for a moment and you'd recognize it was an unexpected comment and that's what was so amusing about it. So relax just a little bit.
DARTH VADER – HA!
Cheney would destroy Hillary in a one-on-one debate.
Considering hillary looks just like Yoda, she should know all about Darth Vader. As usual, a dem with no plan, name calling and attacking. So typical.
this is funny... where were you all when Rudy AWOL Giuliani attacked the Sen. and call her names bacause she disagrees with his views... besides even Chaney himself knows the comparisons and laughs about it... like usual the people that hate hillary will use any excuse to continue the hate... be useful and challenge the debate, participate and vote... I don't care who you are that comment was funny right there! (using a phrase from larry the cable guy).
Clinton is absoltuely 100% correct. Who else would support war, murder and theft of another's country's natural resources.
bush and cheney...more like tweedle dumb and tweedle dummy...
enough said...
Hiliary could be right. I am sure she can identify those from the dark side.
Hillary is so sophisticated – NOT!
How soon we all forget...its not ok for Hillary to call Cheney a fictional villian. But it ok for Cheney to tell another Senator to "F Off" in the Senate chamber while in session.
Bottom line, our politicos on both sides (public and private citizens) both need to clean up the discourse; this includes people like Chomsky and Coulter
To me, she had it backwards...
Cheney would be more like Palpatine...the twisted fool masterminding things behind the scenes. With Bush being Darth Vader, the more prominent puppet.
But that's just me.
Now that's just downright insulting to Darth Vader.
Would say that Hillary probably hasn't done a thorough character analysis of the inner nature of Vader nor given thought to the evolution of his character the drama. She just meant to point out that Darth Dick is nasty and causes a lot of suffering through lies, deceit, bullying and other short-sighted power-grabbing mechanisms.
Of course, this is dead-on true!
Wow Hillary, how wonderfully original! I've never heard that one before. Keep up the good work! Now I have to get back to unpacking from my cancelled move overseas. The more you speak, the greater my chances of remaining in America. Yayyyyy!
All Republicans are idiots. Maybe if you morons read books intstead of watching Fox tabloid news you could comprehend that this adminstration is running our country into the ground. I can't wait until Hillary and Bill are back in the White House to fix the damage done by the GOP.
Let's have a little perspective, folks. Name-calling might not be a respectable tactic, but injecting some light-hearted humor into a political campaign isn't a bad thing either. I enjoyed the video spoof of The Sopranos the Clintons made, I enjoyed Giuliani's joke about Thompson doing a good job with "his" television role, and I enjoyed this as well.
The future of healthcare, the future of Medicaid, illegal immigrants, a soaring national debt, when and how to pull troops out of Iraq, what to do about Iran, about Hamas, about al Qaeda... and a Darth Vader joke.
If we Americans are going to define a Darth Vader joke as a significant presidential campaign issue (and we've got 90 comments and counting on this story!) then America is in sad shape indeed. We have lost our ability to separate the wheat from the chaff, to identify what is truly important and what is frivolous.
It's a joke, people. Laugh or groan as you will, and move on.
I don't even know why CNN thought this was newsworthy, with everything else they could be reporting.
Pretty strong words from someone resembling Jabba the Hut
I love the hypocrisy. Other candidates joke around, and Clinton supporters want their head. Hillary does it, and all is good in the world. All these blind dems in Massachusetts didn't care who got in office, just as long as they had a D next to their name. Now we have a D governor threatening us with higher taxes (if that's possible) or, we HAVE to built 3 casinos all at once. You want an idea of what happens when the D's control the entire State, LOOK AT OUR CRAPPY STATE. It is the joke of the country.
PS- For those of you who say, "You had a R Governor (Romney)". He was the only R in the entire State. I give him credit for doing as well as he did!
Cheney as Darth? Naah ! How about Hanibal Lector. Not even the bones of his victims remained. Cheney is the most amoral hatchetman ever in US political history.
All the southern redneck party does in any election campaign is smear and name call the opposition. What a bunch of hippocrites you Republicans are who condemn name calling. Your party members are the kings of name calling. It's your party's only tactic to win elections since your candidates are worthless and the sad thing is it has worked. The Dems are finally sinking to your level to fight fire with fire.
Right on Hillary. Although I don't think he is as brave or couragous as DV but the vision of the darkness and evil eminating from and surrounding him is very apt. Hey, are we even allowed to post our opinions in America anymore?
Go back and re read the uproar you Dems had when McCain called that kid a little brat. The kid thought it was funny, everyone there thought it was funny, but every Dems head almost exploded! I guess it's only funny when it attacks a Rep. HYPOCRITES!
Texas should be its own state with Dick Cheney as the president
This coming from Cruella DeVille!!! go away Illuminati witch.
Frank from MA:
What does your state of MA or taxes have to do with this article? Please try to stick to the subject at hand. If you don't like your "Crappy" state then move to Texas.
He "may" be Darth Vader, but there is really only one way to make sure, and if the helmet doesn't fit, then Hillary must acquit!
Poor Hillary. She doesn't actually have any knowledge or skill to speak of, so she resorts to name-calling. Can't say I'm surprised.
Okay, first of all, people really do need to lighten up – it was a joke, and a pretty funny one at that! And to the previous poster who compared Bush to Jar Jar Binks – genius! I'll be completely up front and say that I was planning to vote for Hillary anyway, but I have no problem laughing at jokes made on either side – and that includes jokes that poke fun at the Democrats.
That said, one thing that did upset me here was the poster who said that we shouldn't listen to a word Hillary said because her marriage involved adultery. To that person, shame on you. Hillary got cheated on, so we should all ignore what she has to say? As a married woman I am absolutely disgusted by that thoughtless, crass and absolutely sickening comment.
But back to happy! Personally, I think Michelle Obama is the lovely Princess Leia.
Pretty imature Mrs. Clinton – from someone running for the highest office in the country. I would expect more maturity from a presidential candidate.
So, Does this make her princess Leia? Does that make him her father... LOL!
If Dick Cheney is Darth Vader then what movie character is Hillary? The Wicked Witch of the West or Glenn Close' character in Fatal Attraction?
"Isn't that slander?"
How can you slander a corporate criminal and impeachable traitor who's started a war with lies and has acted like Herr Goebbels on Hitler's staff?
"Who knows, but I most certainly have my suspicions….."
I'll bet you do. There's medication available for that.
In 1992, on Larry King; Bush Senior called Clinton And Gore "BOZOS"
Correct – Former President Bush, Sr. was correct (on Larry King) – Al Gore and Bill Clinton ARE BOZOS – so is Hillary! What's your point?
I don't see how Cheney can be Darth Vader when Bush has already established himself as Jar Jar.
"At least Cheney isn't Jabba the Hutt. That's Rush Limbaugh. Bush is Emperor Palpatine, and every Republican is a storm trooper. Wow we have enough for a remake!"
If there was an Evil Queen, she would be Ann Coulter. Court Jesters would be O'Reilly, Hannity, Levin, Carlson, etc...
You gotta admit that it was pretty funny. I'm still laughing "Darth Vader emerges", she's too much.
I am still convinced that Joe Lieberman is going to call for a vote of no confidence in Bush and ultimately end up Emperor. Serious.
you gotta love these people who keep whining about hillary being childish, immature and resorting to name calling. meanwhile, these same people celebrate and cheer people like limbaugh, hannity, beck, and levin- all of whom make their living with childish attacks, name calling, and immaturity. give me a break.
Hillary is Darth Cankles...I will not be silenced!
Does Jabba have Cankles too?
Paul Murphy:
You're quite right: he didn't belittle his own generals. He strangled them. Please, Republicans, get over yourselves.
"The crowd erupted in laughter."
I wonder which one of these laughing criminals will be next to have their contributions returned by Hillary?
Nice to see that liberal democrats are now saying that their politicans are unable to stand up to the ethics, values and decency of the right and can only be defended for their hate by comparing them to radio talk show hosts.

Thank you Michael!! I'm reading this from work and it has sure cut the monotony of the day!! I couldn't stop laughing! Ann Coulter, now THERE is a scary woman!!!
Poor comparision, don't really feel Cheney lives up to Darth Vader, Vader was a warrior, Cheney a world class draft dodger.
So where is the harm in pointing out the obvious?
Not to mention that he has already referred himself to Vader, than so be it!
Besides everyone knows he's the Puppet Master...
This man has the blackest heart of any politician I've seen in the 35 years I've followed policitcs.
There is no doubt in my mind this guy is a wholly-owned blow-up doll, belonging to Big Oil and (of Course) no-bid Halliburton.
She says that like it's a bad thing.
Darth Vader was always on the frontlines, killing Rebels himself. Maybe there's an evil contractor in a movie somewhere?
darth vader, indeed. i would call her godzilla...she is frightening, and god help us if she gets in office!!
Cheney got FIVE, count 'em FIVE deferments to avoid serving in Vietnam when Joe-on-the-street could RARELY get ONE deferment. Yet he eagerly sends our troops into battle as pawns for his own empire building and ego....sounds like Darth Vader to me minus the courage to actually take part in a battle.
Unlike most politicians (Bushes, Clintons, & most of the other government sloths), Cheney is actually competent. The guy ran a major corporation & actually possesses some managerial & administrative skills. All these other politicos are just a bunch of wind bags that have never really produced one job or met one payroll.
"Obi-Rove has trained you well, young Dubya. But you are not a Jedi yet."
