Clinton referred to Cheney as 'Darth Vader' Wednesday night.
WASHINGTON (CNN) – She has been sharply critical of Vice President Dick Cheney in the past, but Democratic Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton took it up a notch Wednesday night, calling the president's No. 2 "Darth Vader."
The New York Democrat referred to Cheney as the infamous Star Wars villain at a New York fundraiser when she described his efforts to keep Republican senators behind the Iraq war.
"Vice President Cheney came up to see the Republicans yesterday," Clinton said at the fundraiser. "You can always tell when the Republicans are getting restless, because the Vice President’s motorcade pulls into the Capitol, and Darth Vader emerges."
The crowd erupted in laughter.
"I’m not invited to their meetings and I don’t know what he says or does," she added. "But all the brave talk about bringing our troops home, and setting deadlines, and getting out by a certain date just dissipated."
The comments came during an informal talk on stage with former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack and retired Gen. Wesley Clark, both supporters of Clinton.
But this isn't the first time the vice president has been likened to Darth Vader. Cheney actually made the comparison himself in an interview with CNN's John King in June of 2006.
"I suppose people sometimes look at my demeanor and say, well, he's the Darth Vader of the administration," he said then.

Cheney would destroy Hillary in a one-on-one debate.
Considering hillary looks just like Yoda, she should know all about Darth Vader. As usual, a dem with no plan, name calling and attacking. So typical.

Clinton is absoltuely 100% correct. Who else would support war, murder and theft of another's country's natural resources.

How soon we all forget...its not ok for Hillary to call Cheney a fictional villian. But it ok for Cheney to tell another Senator to "F Off" in the Senate chamber while in session.

Cheney would be more like Palpatine...the twisted fool masterminding things behind the scenes. With Bush being Darth Vader, the more prominent puppet.

Now that's just downright insulting to Darth Vader.
Would say that Hillary probably hasn't done a thorough character analysis of the inner nature of Vader nor given thought to the evolution of his character the drama. She just meant to point out that Darth Dick is nasty and causes a lot of suffering through lies, deceit, bullying and other short-sighted power-grabbing mechanisms.
Of course, this is dead-on true!

Let's have a little perspective, folks. Name-calling might not be a respectable tactic, but injecting some light-hearted humor into a political campaign isn't a bad thing either. I enjoyed the video spoof of The Sopranos the Clintons made, I enjoyed Giuliani's joke about Thompson doing a good job with "his" television role, and I enjoyed this as well.
The future of healthcare, the future of Medicaid, illegal immigrants, a soaring national debt, when and how to pull troops out of Iraq, what to do about Iran, about Hamas, about al Qaeda... and a Darth Vader joke.
If we Americans are going to define a Darth Vader joke as a significant presidential campaign issue (and we've got 90 comments and counting on this story!) then America is in sad shape indeed. We have lost our ability to separate the wheat from the chaff, to identify what is truly important and what is frivolous.
It's a joke, people. Laugh or groan as you will, and move on.
I don't even know why CNN thought this was newsworthy, with everything else they could be reporting.

I love the hypocrisy. Other candidates joke around, and Clinton supporters want their head. Hillary does it, and all is good in the world. All these blind dems in Massachusetts didn't care who got in office, just as long as they had a D next to their name. Now we have a D governor threatening us with higher taxes (if that's possible) or, we HAVE to built 3 casinos all at once. You want an idea of what happens when the D's control the entire State, LOOK AT OUR CRAPPY STATE. It is the joke of the country.
PS- For those of you who say, "You had a R Governor (Romney)". He was the only R in the entire State. I give him credit for doing as well as he did!
