Why in NH are you only taking a poll of republican voters instead of an equal number of indepedent and republican.

If you dont do this then this poll is meaningless.

Try contacting 324 indepedents that will vote for republican now and see what you get for their mix.

Chris fr. Middletown CT actually makes sense;

If I look at a candidate I like, I think "does he or she possess MOST of the qualities I want in a leader?" I think if you can answer that 75 per cent or more of what a candidate has is what you want - then that' s who you should vote for.

We each have our deal-breakers - Iraq, abortion, taxes, illegal immigration and so on . I will decide which are my top three and vote accordingly because, like a spouse, no one can be 100 per cent perfect and in sync with you .

Re: Jon in Sacramento,

There is nothing NUTJOBish about following the constitution. There is nothing NUTJOBish about eliminating the countless government agencies that have no legitimacy under the constitution.

Just because you grew up in a world where illegitimate agencies are commonplace, does not make the elimination of those agencies a NUTJOB idea.

The "NUTJOB" factor has nothing to do with status quo or popular opinion. It has to do with cold, hard, real, facts that exist independently -and stand on their own merit- regardless of whether they are popularly embraced.

RON PAUL is the only chance the GOP has to win the 08 general election.

If RUDY or ROMNEY or any other GOP contenders get the nomination, then the DEMOCRATS will win in 08.

Vote Ron Paul. SUPPORT YOUR CONSTITUTION.

Tell me why no one including CNN advertises when there is a debate hosted by african-american Tavis Smiley. Thanks to the GREAT CSPAN who is fair that is only way I know this.
And why since it is a republican debate Romney,McCain,Giuliani are not participating. What are they afraid of african americans who vote too, from asking them questions they may have to lie about.
Shame on CNN, FOX, MSNBC for not being an upfront News station and so biased for Hillary Clinton all of you.
I tell you folks, RACISM is alive and well even on CNN, FOX and MSNBC

Chris,I think Hillary might be a little to the right of Rudy, but it wouldn't bother me to dump the right-wingers.Either of them would be a drastic improvement over bush.I give little creedence to their attempted portrayals.Rudy's not a right-winger and Hillary's not a lefty.Keep on pushing Rudy on your side,we need sanity in the WH.

I think some are starting to open their eyes and see that we don't want or need right wing candidates...as much as we don't need those on the left (or socialists..sorry Hillary) - we need a moderate like Giuliani...not a flip flopper like Mitt...we need a pro choice/pro fiscal conservative in the White House....and Rudy will be elected in 2008....he is right in the middle...exactly where a president needs to be to govern this country.

So in NH it's a dead heat between the intolerable and the unelectable.

Great.

When are the Republicans going to get a candidate worthy of the office? Oh, wait... they had one, McCain, eight years ago, but the Bush league ruined his chances then, too.

From a statistical point of view, with a 5.5% margin of error (which works both ways for each number), the actual poll results show a THREE-way race now. McCain's 18% is close enough to the "front-runners" 24% and 25% that it is only fair that CNN report that any one of the three could actually be in the lead at this point.

Go Ron Paul! Wait until they actually have to count REAL votes, not phone surveys only listing 4 options for President.

THE PAST POLLING METHODS DO NOT APPLY! Nobody I know owns a land line anymore! We don't polled. Peace

Does Mitt Romney still abuse his pets? You know, keep his dog in a kennel on top of his car for an 8 hour road trip until it has diarrhea all over the car, then hose the dog down and continue on his merry way?

Make an issue of this, and Mitt Romney is toast. Americans love their pets...especially dogs.

No disrespect to my fellow Americans, but this is why I question and fear my fellow citizens. How does Giuliani possess such a high likeability? The man utilizes 911, the worst tragedy, for political gain, increases hate towards Muslims and Muslim-Americans, and embodies hypocrisy. As a person left of center (and actually possess the similar social views as Mr. Fear Mongerer), I hope that Americans will wake up and support a candidate with substance and respect, like McCain or Huckabee (who I possess not many same views, but respect for their actual respect of this country). Wake up, America! Giuliani is not a Commander-in-Chief, he is Fear-Mongerer-in-Chief. If you like cowboy diplomacy by Bush, prepare yourself for urban cowboy diplomacy by Giuliani. Prepare yourself from isolation from the world. Giuliani would take this country further into a hole and I am an optimist! Canada, expect an increase of citizen applications.

It's funny how you can have a 14 point lead when only about 300 people participated in the poll.

Polls are tailored to the maker. They don't use cell phones so all you have are the old farts participating if it's an honest cold calling program.

It's just silly to throw numbers around to convince people these twats are in the lead. Who cares about them? We want someone who isn't evil and fake.

Vote for Ron Paul

It's funny how you can have a 14 point lead when only about 300 people participated in the poll.

Polls are tailored to the maker. They don't use cell phones so all you have are the old farts participating if it's an honest cold calling program.

It's just silly to throw numbers around to convince people these twats are in the lead. Who cares about them? We want someone who isn't evil and fake.

Vote for Ron Paul

Tom,Dedham, someone posted that his platform was on his website so I went to check his "pander" factor and clicked on "culture and values"and found that he was pandering to theocratic religious people.I and many others find that promoting theocratic ideals boils down to bigotry against people of other faiths and no faith at all.As an atheist,I'm particularly sensitive to that type of bigotry.I believe all people deserve equal treatment under the law, regardless of whether or not they practice. While I don't practice,I'm a staunch supporter of other's rights to do so.I like Rudy for how he ran NYC,and would consider him to be the best of the republicans to govern without prejudice.Btw ,thank you for discussing the ID issue with me,I heard tonight that Eliot Spitzer,my governor has revoked the requirement of a ss card to get a license and returned to me my citizenship.I hope in the next day or two to not face arrest and prosecution for lack of ID that I couldn't get.Again' discussion of issues is the best resolution to conflict.Your participation is appreciated.

TO Jon, Sacramento ~ Ca:

You can spread all the lies and FUD you want about Ron Paul but he is the only one with a 20 year record to stand for what he believes in, never flipping like Mitt or Rudy.

These people cannot even call themselves Republicans.

McCain and his Soros-influenced campaign bill, terrible illegal amnesty bill (while going after people for not paying their taxes, disgusting) and the refusal to take a no-tax pledge, plus being a bomb Iran nutcase, and going through $26M of campaign funds with nothing to show for it, you can see why this man is going nowhere.

I am glad dumb and Newt are going to run -- this just dilutes things in NH so Ron can win, like Pat did.

dyinglike files - I take it you're an artsy type. Do we need a candidate who is like a tabloid pop star, someone exciting? Do we need good soundbytes and someone flashy, or do we need a solid , thoughtful man; a family man who will not embrace the degradation of culture seen on tv now. A man of strong military mindset, who will protect use from the looming tower of radical Islam using our superior military? Do we want to clean up crimeand close the borders, or increase spending on social services for both lazy people and illegal immigrants? So do we need a superstar, or can a quiet man be just as inspiring.

NEVER will Ron Paul be nominated or elected. If you can't understand this - you've lost your ability to reason and see life pragmatically.
_______________________

Let the American people decide whether he will or will not be nominated. These are the same people that elected Bush two terms in a row, reasoning and practicality is inherently absent in these decisions.
Perhaps Ron Paul's ideas are more closely aligned to the average american than any other candidates. Electing Ron Paul might be a risk, but anti-war policies sound a lot better than what the other candidates are proposing.

First of all, take it from one who knows in NH...

These polls are conducted by the college, and they asked 324 people. You cannot base a whole election on 324 people. Often times they do not even ASK about some of the candidates and only include who THEY want to include.

In 1996 these so-called 'polls' had Patrick Buchanan at 6% and he cleaned Dole's clock with 27%.

They have Ron Paul at 4% which does not include the Libertarians, Democrats and most Indies who will be voting for him. Why even at the last LUNTZ focus group, out of 29 hard core GOPers there, we had 10%

So these polls are bogus.
I can't wait for Newt, another phony Republican to enter the race...

Mitt, Rudy, Fred, John, and Newt -- are not real Republicans, never have and never will be.
Rudy is corrupt, Mitt's a lightweight and McCain is just plain nuts. Fred is either stupid (said he did not know about NAU) or a liar. You choose which.

Ron Paul is the only real man for the 'republic' for us NHerites.

We don't care about no college poll. :-)

I think those that automatically declare Ron Paul unelectable will be in for a surprise come election time. These "polls" are taken over land-line phones - something that much of the younger generation has given up. They provide a skewed result.

The GOP is in a bad position right now that will likely lead into a Democrat victory in the white house...especially if they nominate another Bush-loving pro-war Neo-conservative (Rudy, Romney, McCain...)

I am really against Clinton taking over the White House, and our only chance is to nominate someone who will bring about REAL change and a TRUE conservative - Ron Paul.

Explain to me this: why has he won or placed very high in all the straw polls? Why does he consistently win internet polls? Why does he have a grassroots movement with supporters WAY more enthusiastic than those for Rudy, Romney, McCain? The answer should be very obvious.

Likeable by whom? Cranky old dogmatic Republicans with prostate problems?

I don't recall Bob Dole winning the Executive Office, nor the NH primary, do you? If he wins, its because the swing vote found the Republican primary uninteresting, just as it found the Democratic primary with Gore being the only choice in 2000.

Like most unenrolled voters in NH, I hang up the phone as soon as someone says survey. I bet that's true for most voters. By now the only people answering polls are on a list of bona-fide 'ringers', people who answer the poll in an expected, favorable manner. Instead of the predominant 'click'.

Ron Paul is a crazy lunatic, Mitt Romney has no idea what he really believes in, and Rudy Guliani is too mean spirited. The truth is that Hillary will win 56% of the vote in fourteen months. Hopefully, she will choose Evan Bayh as her running mate. Clinton/Bayh will beat any ticket the Republicans choose.

Ron Paul's the most likeable and electable candidate in the race.

- - - - -

Sorry... "likeable" will not elect Ron Paul. Advocating the ELIMINATION of the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security makes him (likeable or not) a NUTJOB.

President Clinton took the "hands off" approach with the CIA - refusing to deal with unsavory characters. This eliminated our "human" intelligence and required us to rely on technology alone.

Ron Paul is not only taking the "hands off" approach - he's amputating our arms and legs!

NEVER will Ron Paul be nominated or elected. If you can't understand this - you've lost your ability to reason and see life pragmatically.

Ditto Kim, I couldn't have said this better myself.

Are you kidding me? The only reason Bush was elected was because he was "likeable". That was probably his only good quality. Now look at the mess he's gotten into. How about electing a President who's intelligent and competent? I'd rather have a leader who can do his/her job, than one I can have a beer with and do better than he/she on a math test.

Here's another Prediction - whether or not Ron Paul wins in New Hampshire, he will not win the Republican Nomination.

---------------

and here's a fact - ron paul beats all other candidates head-to-head in the straw polls:

Ron Paul's Head-to-Head Records

(RPWin / RPLose / RPTie):

Rudy Giuliani 23-3-0
Mitt Romney 15-11-0
Fred Thompson 13-12-0
John McCain 22-3-0
Mike Huckabee 21-3-1
Sam Brownback 22-2-1
Tom Tancredo 23-1-0
Duncan Hunter 22-2-0

Ron Paul's the most likeable and electable candidate in the race.

Guiliani has nothing to offer the voters besides his photo-ops on 9-11, all staged. And if you want a real reason to stay away from him, read the vanity Fair article on his queen-in-waiting wife! She's scary!

congratulations to rudy guiliani! I think his track record of cutting taxes several times in NYC and the incredible job he did cleaning up NY both of crime and corruption are a good indication of how effective he is.

Don't count out Ron Paul yet. The Mainstream media is going to have to acknowledge him once the 3rd quarter fundraising numbers come out. I used to think that Congressman Paul has no chance but from what I've been reading he is doing really well lately.

You want to hear my theory? Mitt/Rudy/Fred/McCain split 60-70% of the New Hampshire vote. Ron Paul brings out the Anti-War crowd and places second or third with 20% of the vote.

Then what happens is Ron Paul magically becomes a contender and the other four are going to beat each other up while the Anti-War, small government conservatives, and youth flock to Congressman Paul.

Ron Paul is a long shot but he does have a shot. The other guys all sound the same and will have a hard time turning out the vote. People who are sick of the war will have no problem going to vote.

"Here's a prediction: Ron Paul will win the HN Republican party. Guiliani, Thompson, and Romney will place behind McCain, Huckabee, and (the winner Paul). Heck, Tancrado may place higher than those three…"

- - - - -

Here's another Prediction - whether or not Ron Paul wins in New Hampshire, he will not win the Republican Nomination.

How do I know this? Ron Paul is not a Republican. He's a libertarian who wants to shut down the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, IRS, Department of Education, and other agencies.

Ron Paul has as much chance of winning the nomination as does Dennis Kucinich.

Mitt will win New Hampshire, Iowa, Michigan, and Nevada heading into February 5th primaries with all the big states. Fred's poor showing in the early states means his support will transfer most to Mitt by February 5th. Bottom line is Mitt Romney is the most qualified candidate to ever run for president. Strong outstanding person. GO Mitt!
