Craig: I am staying

Sen. Craig said he will pursue "additional legal options."

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Idaho Sen. Larry Craig said Thursday he will remain in the Senate and study "additional legal options" after a Minnesota judge refused to throw out his August guilty plea stemming from an airport sex sting.

In a statement from his office, the three-term Republican said he was "extremely disappointed" in Thursday's ruling.

"I am innocent of the charges against me. I continue to work with my legal team to explore my additional legal options," he said.

He said the past few weeks have shown that "it is possible for me to work here effectively," and said any replacement appointed by Idaho's governor would not have the seniority and committee assignments "that are valuable to Idaho."

Typical Republican, PROMISING one thing and doing something completely different. This man typifies what the Republican party has become....A group of self serving, get rich off the middle class morons who are literally destroying the financial and moral fabric of our once great nation!!!

Great! The "family values" "Moral Majority" party has found a replacement for Mark Foley and Sen. David Vitter has someone to sympathize with! Now if we could only get the poster child for hypocrisy, Sen. Henry Hyde, to come out of retirement...

Sen. Craig's decision to stay in office, gives a sense of what you would describe as a Deja Vu.

Good call by Sen. Crag to stay on.

This person is not just a discrace to the Republican Party, he's a discrace to mankind. He's probably not even Gay–just some bored, old bird trying to get it any way he can...fool. Ever notice that women never get caught doing this kind of crap?

Good move Sen. Craig. Your claim of innocence may not sound too good in the current climate, but neither do I think you should bow to polls or opinions from the general public. All those that want you out of the Senate are the same ones that wanted Bill Clinton to fight his immoral behavior and stay in the White House after being caught with his "pants down." He was willing to drag the country through the mud and dirt and impeachment proceedings because of his hunger for power, rather than leave his position and himself with some dignity. At least President Nixon showed that the Presidency is more important than any one man and he just left when he got caught rather than drag the Presidency through what Clinton did.

Well DUH!!! Of course he's staying! Republican officials believe that as long as you're anti-gay, anti-abortion, and anti-middle class, that's enough to make you a good "Christian" thus allowing you to do whatever the hell you want.

Cheney/Bush and the previous Republican-led congress proves my point.

This is the true face of the modern Republican Party.

He did win with a huge majority in Idaho, fooling so many people with phony moral stands.

And to this day, this Republican cannot stop lying.

Liberals, please leave this one alone. If we're a party of compassionate, understanding people we will see the mistake that was made here and not judge him for being gay.

I love this, all the Dems crowing. Let's see here..Craig pleads guilty, it comes out, RNC and Senate Republican leaders state he should resign. Immediately. They didn't wait for the Dem's to start harping, they did it on their own. Now, poor ol Jefferson down in La., with 90,000 in marked FBI money in his freezer is still on the job, no Democratic leaders have asked him to step down or even step aside (still got his comitee assignments). I guess solicitation is more important to Dem's than bribery. which group is it again that is obsessed with sex? Hahahaha

    'Brokeback Bathroom' saga continues...

Craig is pathetic and extremely selfish. He does not care that he is harming the Republican Party and his poor, suffering wife.

What a hypocrit!!! Check out his 1982 denial of being gay, video on Youtube. When rumor of Congressional Leaders & Page Boy Drug & Gay Sex Scandal hit National News, not 1 name ever surfaced. As soon as story broke, Closet Gay Larry Craig calls a Press Conferance and proclaims he is not gay!! His name was never menioned, and yet he automatically claimed he was innocent. Guilty conscience definitley evident. What amazes me is, Douglas Marshall, former page, and later a liason of the Ford Administration was caught with 19.5 ounces of cocaine at his home(along with Robert Finkel & Troy Todd). No charges were ever filed 4 possession or distribution. Guess since they were supplying Republican House and Senate Members, so they could entice young page boys 4 gay sex, it's ok. Reagan Administration swept this under the rug real fast. The GOP has new meaning, "Grand Old Perverts". or "The Party 4 Hypocritcy". Nothing has really changed in 25 years.

All closeted Republicans should be outed. After putting up with years of GOP posturing, I would find a great deal of pleasure in watching them try to squirm out of it.

Senator Craig just brings to our attention our many honorably elected officials that do not listen to themselves or their constituents. Lying Larry, apologize to the people of Idaho and America and resign!

This guy will go to any length to save his political career. Think of the presecution he will put apon others just to prove to the world he's not gay. Wake up Larry and quit lying to yourself. BTW nice comment on the GOP (Grand Old Perverts). I wonder what happens? You wake up one day, rich and old maybe a little bored and think to yourself: "I think I'll have sex with another man?" I just don't get it! When will the American people throw these bums out!

Where are all the self-righteous Republicans now? They have been screaming for years about Bill Clinton perjuring himself about his sex life. Here we have the identical situation, but with Larry Craig actually going to court to try to prove that he perjured himself about his sex life.

So are Republicans going to pursue Larry Craig with the same level of honesty they pursued Bill Clinton for an identical crime or are they going to show everyone what hypocrites they are?
