Campaigning on 9/11

Sen. Hillary Clinton has a new campaign ad about her involvement in helping 9/11 rescue and clean-up workers.

(CNN) - Mary Snow takes a look at the potential benefits and risks of using imagery associated with the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to campaign for political office.

Hillary was there at 9/11 working to help dig out all the victims and move all the debris left at the site – Hillary is a hero here....and there will be people bashing her – after she left the 9/11 site – she was solely responsible for pumping all the flood water out of New Orleans after Katrina...yes...this woman is wonderful – and all you Republicans can bring up is her ability to make the people who support her believe anything....(even if its just completely made up)

Yeah right Hillary. Anything to get you votes, but I'm not fooled. You are deceptive and untrustworthy. Open up your files please.

Hillary looks preposterous muzzled that way in her campaign ad.

Of course the worst at this was Bush and Rudy Guiliani, as if either of them did a useful thing to prevent it from happening or during the morning that it happen.

Rudy of course was the available "talking head" on the spot for television those first days while Bush and Cheney were cowering somewhere and for that he somehow became the "hero" of 9-11.

Guiliani just happenened to be there as a failing mayor on his way out and did nothing special.

Indeed, Guiliani made the situation worse by insisting that the a city emergency response office be located in one of the towers even though the WTC was a known terrorist target from before (1993 bombing).

But he is still pretending to be the "hero" rather than the real heroes, the firefighters and police, who risked their lives to help others that horrible morning.

The candidates that cravenly use 9-11 the most are the ones to trust the least.

I watched the video and although I am not a huge fan of Hillary, I do not see anything disgracefully wrong about it. She is just trying to show that she has leadership qualities and she is trying to relate that to voters. She is just trying to cite examples where she has stepped up and shown leadership. Now whether she actually has these leadership qualities is a different question. She may have been there after 9/11 for these workers but that doesn't necessarily mean that she has the leadership needed to turn this country in the right direction.

Well, here we go! I remember Rudy DOING things, Bill getting his perfunctory photo-op on Park Avenue, and Hillary making speeches, all on 9-11! I prefer substance over style. What about you?

Hillary is desperate and she does not know what she wants to do. She is trying to find all gimmicks to get voted in power but American people are not fools. We know that 9/11 occured because of you and your husband. You did not take care of the security of our country. You just want to get the power...

I have always said, Hillary is the female version of Giuliani. If Hillary's beliefs and values represent you, well then, you are a Republican!! That coming from a true blue Minnesota Democrat.

I just want to know why CNN is running all these Hillary ads. Seems odd. Unless they want her to win. I cant wait to see the next ad from Hillary. But thanks for the great news.

After visiting site on 10-11 Hillary acted to get protection items which rescue workers lacked. Later she got them medical benifits. Bush and Guiliani just did photo ops. She will be a great president

What are you talking about? She was booed at when they held a memorial. She was looking all around when Mayor Guiliani was speaking with her dark sunglasses on. Take a look back at the film clip. God help American if she is in power.

People use 9/11 as a campaign platform so much that the horrible event has lost much value. In other words, "Ground Zero" has gone from disaster zone to casual tourist attraction.

The video mentioned that everyone made sacrifices that morning. I think that's everyone except those on the planes and in the towers. For those who weren't terrorists, it was all about being an unlucky civilian who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

9/11 touched us all as Americans. The infamous event is currently being taught in the history classes of America's schools. But...Christ...to take the suffering of our nation's most cataclysmic event and use it for political gain? Lord almighty, what have we come to?

And to think...this whole tradgedy set the stage for such things as the Iraq war and a sharp crackdown on Middle-Easterners/Muslims. Truly, 9/11 was just the beginning of some unfathomable dark plot of destiny.

Hillary, Rudy: You both did the best you could during that terrible time. But in the end, only your words will determine whether or not you become president, not where you were in the days of uncertainty following the worst event in recent memory. But above all, remember those who died, who lost, who suffered, who rediscovered what it means to be American. Do not make that hallowed ground experience more publicity than it already has.

Well, at least Hillary went to Capitol Hill to fight for the people who got sick on 911. She cared. Rudy who was the mayor of NYC, didn't do anything. He was to busy with photo-ops and that mess he was in with his girlfriend.

Lets see. Hilary reacted to 9/11 by helping people, and to Katrina by helping people. Considering our present President used the first to rally violence against a completely unrelated nation and the second to sit on his thumb while people died, I don't see anything wrong with pointing these things out as contrast. Would you rather she take the negative approach and berate her opponents?

Well, well, well. After all the times the Democrats bashed Republicans for using 9/11 as a campaign tool, here they are doing it themselves.

Great Job Hillary! remind the voters that the current president ran from those responsibile for 9/11 because Bushs family is connected to Osama by oil.

O9/11 is the only reason anyone is even considering Guiliani...

    HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT

Hillary, unlike Rudy, is not exploiting 911. Rudy is the one who exploits 911 over and over and over- he mentions 911 in every speech he delivers- he mentions 911 in every rally he goes to-he mentions 911 in every debate he participates. Hillary does not do that. Unlike Rudy, Hillary does not claim she spent more times in the ground zero than the rescuers. Hillary is a Senator of NY-she witnessed the horror, the pain, and the agony of that tragedy, and she is trying show that she is capable of handling crisis. Her video shows that she is strong to hold herself together in a crisis like that. I, as a man, would break into pieces if were to see the ground zero like Hillary did. That is all. Please do not bash her. Please visit http://www.hillaryclinton.com, and you will know more about her.

    Not Cool

It's not cool for anyone to politicize 911 be they Democrat or Republican. This is so wrong on so many levels. But, I am not surprised that Hillary would do it. It fits her ways to a tee.

She's in it and she's in it to exploit it. I mean , "win it". Sorry.

She should use images from that day.
The Bush team has been using them to scare people since 9/11 happened.
Someone said something about opening her files? Let's have a look at the Bush teams files first.
