Gore gets Nobel Peace Prize

"An Inconvenient Truth," a 2006 documentary featuring Al Gore, won two Academy Awards this year.

(CNN) - Former Vice President Al Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for their work to raise awareness about global warming.

In a statement, Gore said he was "deeply honored," adding that "the climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity."

The former vice president said he would donate his half of the $1.5 million prize to the Alliance for Climate Protection, a U.S. organization he founded that aims to persuade people to cut emissions and reduce global warming.

So, what has Al Gore done for peace in the US or elsewhere?

Norway, you can have him...free of charge.

I wonder what the carbon footprint is of all the food Al has been packing away. He sure has been getting pretty thick around the middle lately.

I find it very telling that the climate on Mars is changing at the same rate the climate on Earth is changing. I guess the CO2 emissions from our planet must be effecting other planets as well.

The ices of Greenland show an historic change in CO2 in the atmosphere and yet no industrialized country was pumping out emissions during those time frames.

No one is arguing against the changes our climate is experiencing. What scientists are discussing is what the true cause is. Why has the climate changed in the past when human kind had no impact on it at all?

Kudos for Al but I have to agree with others, I've lost a lot of respect for the vetting process of the Nobel committee.

Now we officially are not required to give any creditability to the Nobel Peace Prize.

And that has nothing to do with any of the dem/rep lib/con stupid thinkings.

"Spiritual issue"? That comment pretty much justifies a lot of the criticisms that the global warming movement is a replacement religion for the far-left."

    What ignorance you display.

If this was a replacement religion, then we would be blindly worshiping some prophet from over 2000 years ago who was SO IMPORTANT to his time that not a single contemporary wrote a single word about him.

It's time to leave medieval superstition behind in this country and get to LIVING.

"We need more conservatives to be able to approach the issue of global warming based on scientific facts, (not the sort that are rattled off on AM radio,) without the knee-jerk reaction that it's a liberal issue or such."

You and your administration have been shown blatantly and repeated to be as anti-science as any brainwashed religious nut. Nice try. President Potato Head hates science, hates facts, loves a dictatorship.

Wake up, Junior. See what thou hath wrought with your support for a criminal administration.

The Nobel Peace Prize has just lost all credibility.

Gores ideas are bases on a consenses, a show of hands if you will. Not on fact. In fact, many of Gores "facts" have been proven as false.

Gravity – Fact – Can't prove it as false here on earth.

Gores ideas – thoughts – Hold no water here on earth.

The earth has been both warmer and cooler and that change had nothing to do with man. What if the planet is warming up to the appropriate temperature?

How can Gore be so arrogant and cocky to think that he should decide what the temperature should be for the children of our future.

Think about the children Gore, not your own political future.

Most of the world respects Al Gore for his accomplishments. Because he is an American we all benefit from his global acclaim.

Astoundingly, certain ideological whack jobs still prefer to eat their own. These people do not represent my country.

A Peace Prize? Maybe I am confused on the definition of Peace. Don't get me wrong, the former Vice-President is a reputable man and fine American citizen. I just don't see how raising awareness on global warming is making the world a more peaceful place. By being more green, does that make the Middle East or any other war-torn region less of a disaster??? Not in my opinion.

Here's the logic: Global warming -> melting icecaps -> rise in sea level -> coastal cities underwater -> millions of displaced refugees -> social unrest -> not peace.

In other words, the Nobel people feel that supporting education about global warming and trying to minimize it is a precautionary measure designed to prevent strife and advance peace.

A Nobel Peace Prize is just another acting award. We know a socialist or communist will win it. The only question is which one. Global warming is asserted as the basis for governments of free-enterprise nations with competent hard-working people to redistribute property to nations full of incompetent people ostensibly to cut CO2 (i.e. plant food) emissions. The redistribution of property is a so-called carbon-trading market. Enron, the infamous sham company, wanted redistribution of property by “carbon credits” because it, like Al Gore's several companies, are middle-men skimming off the trade of carbon credits. Global warming is asserted as a crisis to force quick, uneducated decisions, as all salesmen do to consumers. Al Gore made a sales pitch for world governments to implement his left-wing political ideology while simultaneously skimming off it. That’s all he’s done while making the usual misrepresentations that salesmen do. When regulation having an economic impact is proposed, you can be sure there is usually at least one scam behind it. This one is no different than the other socialist driven schemes to force the purchase of natural resources from other countries by banning use of local resources through insurmountable environmental red tape. The “scientific consensus” is actually only an unremarkable political/organized crime consensus of socialists, communists and “Third Way” branded socialists a/k/a fascists like Al Gore and George Soros.

The climate will not change in any substantive way in response to the miniscule effects of the 12 people per square kilometer on Earth. It is estimated that just one solar flare from the giant nuclear fusion reactor we call the Sun can produce energy equivalent to 100 million 10 Megaton nuclear fusion warheads. Total Solar irradiance (TSI) at Earth’s atmosphere has increased during the approximately 25 years we’ve been measuring it. Heat-trapping CO2 is less than 0.038% of all gas in the atmosphere (including the tiny fraction of the 0.038% man contributes) while heat trapping water vapor is approx. 1%. NASA admits we do not yet understand how our massive system works and so we cannot yet model it and, therefore, cannot yet make reliable predictions. The problem is not global warming. The problem to confront, again, is the relentless, violent, atheistic, primitive Earth-worshipping, immoral, corrupt, hateful, selfish, hypocritical people drawn to leftist political ideology that killed hundreds of millions of people in the 20th century.

For all of you commenting about the UK judge, did you even read what the judge said? He called it a political film, but AGREED with most of the science, though he found 9 instances of what are basically exagerrations, none of which undermine the broader points of the film.

Just to undercut the argument about liberal bias of the sources, I'll quote what Fox News had this to say about the judge's decision: Despite finding nine significant errors the judge said many of the claims made by the film were fully backed up by the weight of science. He identified “four main scientific hypotheses, each of which is very well supported by research published in respected, peer-reviewed journals and accords with the latest conclusions of the IPCC.”

In particular, he agreed with the main thrust of Gore’s arguments: “That climate change is mainly attributable to man-made emissions of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide (‘greenhouse gases’).”

The other three main points accepted by the judge were that global temperatures are rising and are likely to continue to rise, that climate change will cause serious damage if left unchecked, and that it is entirely possible for governments and individuals to reduce its impacts.

Now that Gore has written a self-satisfying History for himself. Despite all the bad history that was being written for him by the masses. He has but ONE THING LEFT to do. ONE MORE WRONG TO RIGHT. GORE Endorse OBAMA! Encourage ALL your supporters and fans alike to join you in doing so. That could be the edge Obama needs and would put the CAP on the your "Past" CRAP you went through (If you know what I mean).. CARMA

I'm thrilled there has been a worldwide recognition of good science and environmental conscience! Global warming, like evolution, is not a theory, it is FACT, based on questions, testing, conclusions...not simply blind, uncontested, personal beliefs, and heresay. Yipee!! Congratulations, Al Gore!! Well deserved!!

Well deserved. I hope American now realized how much better the world would have been if Gore had been elected.
Now Republicain are finding all kind of excuses and are againg looking for any angles to descredit Al Gore accomplishements. Now it's just a matter of time before they find a way to change the decisions of the commitee and have they chief back in the spotlight for something he achieve...woups that will be difficult.

The Nobel Peace Prize was established to acknowledge: "the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses".

HOW has Gore helped "the abolition or reduction of standing armies" or "promotion of peace congresses"??

    He hasn't.

This organization (Nobel Peace Prize) has simply become another appendage of the liberal/socialist movement – promoting the voices of their pet causes. PEACE has nothing to do with the recognition of Al Gore.

David from Tulsa and others who still think man-made climate change is a fallacy, do the research: there are virtually no credible scientists who dispute its reality or its importance. To claim otherwise is simply an uninformed opinion.

I think this is the epitome of rediculousness giving the peace prize to a person who tauts global warming and uses more energy that any average person. It does nothing but cheapen the whole idea of a "peace" price. I am sure Nobel is turning over in his grave. Such nonsense.

This is a total joke. There are so many reasons why Al Gore is not credible and cannot stand up to criticism. Let's start with his inability to explain how the previous Ice Ages ended.

The conservatives are so moronic and unpatriotic. Mr. GORE has brought to the forefront a problem that will affect the entire world. If you are so ignorant to understand the implications of global warming SHUT UP!!! He is an American and you should be proud of the work he has done so far.

When Al Gore had real power, as Vice President and Presidential nominee, his interest in global warming was casual at best. So now this jet-polluting hypocrite is canonized alongside Yasir Arafat. His Internet-inventor ploy had more truth than this.
