When Mars attacks, Giuliani's ready

Watch Giuliani field a unique question at a town-hall meeting in New Hampshire Sunday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani often stresses his ability to protect America from terrorist threats, but what about from enemies beyond this planet?

Campaigning in Exeter, New Hampshire Sunday, the New York Republican was asked by a young questioner what he would do if aliens attacked the United States, according to the Associated Press.

"Of all the things that can happen in this world, we'll be prepared for that. Yes we will," Giuliani said, noting that he had never fielded a question about potential attacks from outer space before.

"We'll be prepared for anything that happens," he added.

Giuliani spent most of Sunday campaigning in the Granite State, the same day a new poll indicated he narrowly trails rival Mitt Romney there.

Maybe he will be abducted so we won't have to hear any more of his bs.

I think the most correct answer would have been not "We'll be prepared," but "We'll do our best." Considering we could have abandoned fossil fuel technology decades ago and prefer to spend our money on war instead of space exploration, I can't say with confidence we'd even deserve to survive such an attack, let alone stand a chance against it.

God I hope Rudy gets the nod on the Republican side, he won't stand a chance! Republicans don't have a single electable candidate. Praise Jesus!

Of course, he's going to be ready! He's going to be ready to get in front of the camera! If Mars does attack, he'd be ready to get a nice shot of him struggling out of the White House after being hit by those Martians.

In the meantime, be ready to be on the tab for 40 billion dollars worth of SDI type defense contracts to be giving out to his cronies.

What did he do for the City of New York? He had to be pushed to be there for the World Trade Centers. So why doesnt someone look at his background as mayor prior to 9/11?
Give it up Rudy.. you werent as good as you thought you were..

Should our country be a perpetual war machine? While God can bless us, only we, the people, can save ourselves from the bellicose!

So what we've learned from this is that Rudy will say whatever he thinks you want to hear, even if it's a complete lie. There's no way he could say with any certainty that we'd be prepared for such an attack, fanciful as the notion may be. This tells me that Rudy is more interested in placating the masses than actually telling the truth, which was pretty much what he did on 9/11 as well.

Giuliani is insane. He is obsessed with terrorism and warfare, and, despite his statements to the contrary, is perhaps the least qualified to deal with terrorism or even on an international scale. Despite his friendly smilkes and seemingly pleasant demeanor, he is an opportunistic paranoid personality who wants to resort to the same failed neo-con international posture of war, war, and more war, coupled with fear and the suspension of civil liberties here at home. He is ill-equipped to deal with the many serious problems currently facing us, and we deserve far better than this fear-mongering and warmongering Bush clone.

Ha. Yeah, Giuliani has a great history of strong national defense. Oh wait, he has never served in the military and has no experience AT ALL with foreign affairs, diplomacy, or border control...

I guess he thinks that "being mayor when a city is attacked" somehow equates to being ready to secure a nation of three hundred million people from the seat of federal government. So if the mayor of New Orleans ran for office he would be our best bet at protection from national disasters?

    republicans crack me up...

Great to know he is prepared for something that has a 0% chance of happening.
Now what about immigration, naturalization, and repatriation?

Lighten up people. I'm reading a ton of bitter comments in response to this article. Rudy has no shot at my vote what so ever, that being said, you have to find a little humor in this. I mean how was he supposed to respond to that(it's one of the few questions he can't push his "9/11 button" on).

Rudy should have taken a little more time to comforted the child. Who obviously see's the evil liberal democrats and their ugly leader HillBillary as invaders from Mars. His confusion is understandable in light of their constant attacks on America's values and soldiers.

Better him than some crazy morman who is just waiting to get into office so he can let all his freaks back home marry as many 13 year old girls as they want.

If we were smart we would stop all the immigration and then send the Mormans to some other country too. Mormans are creepy.

This is not headline news but it is a good example of how pathetic our news reporters have become.

Flat-out ridiculous. If extraterrestrials get here across interstellar space, they'd be so far advanced that there's no way we could fight them at all. All those Hollywood movies where we win have got Rudy thinking it's possible, but it's not. If interstellar visitors aren't friendly, we're dead, they could just chuck a large asteroid at us and be done.

This fits completely with Rudy's constant barrage of fraudulent bragging. He's the one who single-handedly fixed NYC, he spent more time at the WTC than any clean-up workers, he'll protect the country despite no military or foreign affairs experience, the list is endless.

So this insane claim that we could do anything about a highly unlikely alien menace is just another sign to his supporters: you're supporting a complete fraud. Ask his second wife about his trustworthiness.

do you mean Mars the planet or Mars the person. for that matter what does he know, mars the planet is a wasteland with no life whatsoever. on the same subject why is there millions wasted for going to mars when you could spend it for the people of this planet. doesn't suprise me coming from AMERICAINS.

The question is "what if Mars doesn't attack?" Would he be able to manage the situation? The problem with terrorism is not managing an attack: everybody knows what needs to be done in such cases. Instead, only the true leaders know what needs to be done before, to prevent the attack, and after, to rebuild lives without creating even more damage.

I wonder if Rudy will put the command center for a Mars attack in the most likely place for them to attack us. Then, after the damage is done, he can wander through and pretend he is relevant. Oh, no wait, that was 9-11.

So Rudy does not believe in Evolution but he believes that we have neighbors in outer space that may attack at any time. What an Idiot!

If Aliens attack, he will be the first to be taken...just as in the movie "Mars Attack"
