Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-California, became the first female Speaker of the House in January 2007 after Democrats won control of the House in the 2006 election.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Senior Political Analyst Bill Schneider takes a look at the challenges the GOP may face in the House in the next Congressional election. Watch Schneider's report.

Frank. Hanson, MA   October 27th, 2007 2:11 am ET

I believe that the republicans will take back the house, senate and to retain the White House in 2008.
We should say no to the S-CHIP and say yes to tax cuts, immigration reform, repealing the death tax act and to save social security.
I believe that tax cuts on Bill Clinton's 1993 tax hikes on Social Security and repealing the death tax will benefit us all, not the Republicans.
So therefore we need to bring back the GOP led Congress, put Nancy Pelosi and her Democrats back to the minority and bring in John Boehner as the next house speaker. Then this country can get back on track in the right direction.
A conservative house, senate and White House is all we need to get this country back in the right direction. Not Democrats, liberals and Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton must go, put a republican/conservative president to lead this country forward.

US Unemployment - 5%, Europe - 9%
US Price of gasoline - $3/gallon, Europe - $12/gallon
US Effective tax rate - 15%, European Effective Tax Rate - 35%

But hey - cry about the dollar conversion into Euro's … which improve our exports, drive US Tourism, and helps OUR economy!

With logic like yours - no wonder the leading candidate in the Presidential race espouses European Socialism and the her flock of partisans bleat with praise.

Hmmm…. now what could have happened in 2001 to cause such a drastic dip in the US Dollar? Could it be that terrorists attacked our country in a cowardly attempt to derail our economy and our spirit?

They failed! And so will the Dems attempt to do the same thing in their mission for political gain. How dispickable, to attempt to sabotage our foreign affairs and create more risk for those in harm's way just to make the other team look bad!

Laura - Tulsa OK   October 17th, 2007 2:03 am ET

I do believe the Republicans will win back the House because the Dems have already shown the public that they don't support the troops, they align themselves with the vile anti-American moveOn,org. , they politicize everything, they waste time holding hearings and trying to undermine President Bush and they do not plan on cutting earmark spending, but actually increasing taxes on working people!

Cenn from CA,

YOU ARE SO RIGHT!

WHILE CONDEMING THE GENOCIDE OF ARMENIANS, WE SHOULD BE STOPPING THE GENOCIDE IN IRAQ! WAIT WE DID THAT BY INVADINIG.

MAYBE WE COULD STOP THE GENOCIDE IN SUDAN?

GET REAL! THE GENOCIDE RESOLUTION IS TO TAKE YOUR MIND OFF THE FACT THAT CONGRESS ISN'T GOING TO EVER STOP BUSH FROM SENDING TROOPS TO IRAQ. THEY DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT THE ARMENIANS OR THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT BEFORE THIS!!!

BP NORTH CAROLINA   October 16th, 2007 7:10 pm ET

Hopefully the Democrats will continue to make gains in 2008. It is not proper to unfairly judge Democrats in Congress right now because everything good that they propose and try to do gets vetoed. Give the Democrats in Congress a chance with a Democrat President and then you will see HUGE RESULTS. Thanks!

I HOPE DEMOCRATS WIN CONGRESS AND THE WHITE HOUSE!!

Nothing will hurt the democratic party more than themselves and their flawed iniatives. 4-8 years of Nanny-economics (socialism) and the American people will revolt against high taxes, sour stock market, high unemployment (why work when it's all free), etc.

Go ahead Democrats - pursue your path to socialism, cripple our economy, and effectively destroy your own party.

Congress is a self serving organization but it would be hard press to find an Administration and Congress that is more destructive that the past 7 years.
Let me count the ways:
-Unending Iraq war through unbelievable arrogance.
-Double the national debt.
-Political Justice Department.
-Placing FEMA in Homeland Security.
-Outsourcing war to cronies.
These are only some of the major disasters. I will vote for anyone that is not a Republican.

You guys would have fit right along at the holocaust denial convention next to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and David Duke.

As America has done with slavery, Native Americans, and Hawaii, why can't Turkey admit the mistakes of their past instead of being in denial.

Being allies with genocide deniers is too high of a cost to pay to ally with that nation. You people saying we should not pass this resolution are a disgrace.

Eric, from THE Republic of Texas   October 16th, 2007 3:41 pm ET

Personally, I'd prefer to see a split House and Senate. No more single party domination of both houses of Congress.

This way, the more tangled up and snarled they are, the less damage they can do. With Congress, no legislation is good legislation.

Next, I'd recommend they get rid of the air conditioning in the Capital buildings, too. When it gets too hot and humid in the sticky DC summers, these self-congratulatory blow-hards can simply go back to their home districts.

Again, limiting the time they're in DC, limits the damage they can do.

RightyTighty   October 16th, 2007 3:36 pm ET

The last time the dems had the White House and Congress, it was the first Clinton disaster and lasted barely two years. Before that, was Jimmy Carter. I'm not worried..

Rocco , Wellington, Fl   October 16th, 2007 2:51 pm ET

The slim majority Dem's hold in the senate allows the Reps to filibuster and that is why nothing gets through Congress. The one thing I want to see out of the house is the war funding bill attached to the troops being redeployed. I would not give Bush one more dime without a withdrawal timeline period.

Dan (Columbia, MD)   October 16th, 2007 2:12 pm ET

What have the weak liberals in charge of the Senate and House accomplished since they took over? Noting, nada, zilch. If Reid, Pelosi, and Billary are the best leaders your parties have then you really are lost.

Like it or not libs, you have painted yourself into a corner your can't get out of with your positions on national security, socialist healthcare, higher taxes, etc. Americans have seen you for what your are and your record low approval ratings show it.

David, Dallas Tx   October 16th, 2007 1:58 pm ET

"therealist" said: Nothing could possibly rank worse than our pitiful 110th Harry and Nancy show. Have they accomplished anything yet?

And Frank of Virginia Beach, VA said: [Pelosi and Reid] have proven to be the most unprofessional, irresponsible individuals…. They have mocked the Americans and shut down the processes of the Congress. [Congress is now] purging themselves of every dirty secret and unsavory liaison in its past, to die in defeat and disrespect…. Reid and Pelosi have succeeded in dragging America through every filthy situation they could conjure up, whether truth or lie.

Let’s get real—it’s not Pelosi’s or Reid’s fault that so many Republicans have ethical problems. Wanting to help the less fortunate is associated with high ethics and morality; buying your vote by putting more money in your pocket via lower taxes, on the other hand, is associated with quid pro quo morality. If you vote ‘em in….

And as far as this Congress getting nothing done, one has to look no further than the record of Republican filibusters. At the rate they are going, they will not just set a new record for filibustering in Congress, they will nearly triple the old record.

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/homepage/story/18218.html

You want Congress to act? Toss out more Republicans. If the Democratic majority gets strong enough to break filibusters, you'll see a great deal get done.

I think others have the right of it—the Republicans are more likely to lose seats, not gain them. And Congress will be better for it.

Kim, Peabody MA:

Thank you.

I was sick to my stomach when I heard that "Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that she intends to move ahead with a vote on a resolution that labels the deaths of more than a million Armenians during World War I as genocide."

This woman (together with her buddy Harry Reid) hate their own country - she not only did disservice to all of us here in the US by proclaiming she "will move ahead with a vote on a resolution", she betrayed each and every soldier fighting for her freedom overseas in Irag and Afghanistan. How shameful.

We've had enough with Democratic leadership.

jkp, ny, ny   October 16th, 2007 1:39 pm ET

The very best part of being a democrat today is not having to care about the rants of republicans.

they've alienated their moderates; failed at every single economic, military, and social policy they've enacted in the last eight years; and been caught in every sort of scandal from sex to perjury to stealing.

the best they can muster are rants about their opposition (from a sitting position of course - not having any legs to stand on.)

Tom - Dedham, Mass   October 16th, 2007 1:38 pm ET

America's reputation abroad has not been damaged by Democrats. To the contrary, our allies have been shocked by the behavior of the Bush administration and are hoping the Democrats gain control of the government.

How about some actual details John of how the world is shocked by the behaviour of Bush.

How happy is our ally Turkey with us right now because of Nancy Pelosi's actions? They are not going to let us use their space if that resolution get's passed and that will hurt our TROOPS bigtime.

Isn't Condi working things out with Israel and the Palistinines as we speak?

Didn't this admi do a good job in regards to North Korea and their nukes.

Good stories, that get scant coverage by the MSM.

Is it the phony MASSIVE torture story that the MSM ran with, but was BS?

Abu Gharib perhaps, where a SMALL amount of our brave men and women were tarnished by a few who did wrong? Not as big of a story to the MSM, but ALL involved were tried and convicted in court.

Even though members of both parties and other world leaders and the United Nations are all on RECORD, that Saddam was an immediate threat, we shouldn't have gone to war?

He stupidly underestimated the enemy, but he thought he was doing the right thing.

I get it,Bush the moron was the only one that thought Saddam was bad and every other source, was just misled by this moron?

When the Democrats were in power John, we were getting US installations home and abroad bombed over and over again, I know "we were so loved back then"?

How about some details John. I am just wondering where you are coming from.

Eric, from THE Republic of Texas   October 16th, 2007 12:58 pm ET

I'm truly afraid that if Conservatives can't advance some better candidates, we as a nation are doomed.

Think your taxes are expensive now? Just wait until the liberals have veto-proof majorities in both houses of Congress.

If that happens, there will be no use in even getting out of bed in the morning to go to work, because more than half of everything you work for will go to Washington to "help out" dirt bags who won't get jobs.

A "Womb to Tomb" Nanny State is exactly what these liberals have planned for this nation. Don't believe me? Those may be my words, but they are a spot-on description of the liberal agenda.

And who exactly is going to pay for all this lovely Womb to Tomb care? You, my friend. You.

It wasn't great in previous generations when actual DEMOCRATS were in control of both Congressional houses. But with the batch of Radical 1960's LIBERALS (notice, liberals are indeed different than old fashioned Democrats of my grandfather's day) who currently run the Congress, previous generations' Democratic Congresses will look like Conservatives by comparison.

If they get a veto-proof majority, we will witness the twilight of this truly great nation. Our economy will collapse under the increased load of substantial new taxes that is sure to follow. What was a beautiful experiment in human freedom will be no more.

Reagan forced the tax rate cuts of 1981 and the economy has boomed ever since (including everything else booming along with the economy: the nation, investment and reinvestment, increased jobs, low unemployment, increased incomes, greater wealth creation, the growth of 401ks and "the common man investor," products, expansion, opportunities, entrepreneurism, etc. etc. etc.).

If we revert to the insane tax rates that swamped and nearly sunk Jimmy Carter's America, we will truly have only ourselves to blame for voting these fiscally-inept people a veto-proof majority.

"(Insert diety of choice) help this nation."

Bob, Seattle, WA   October 16th, 2007 12:44 pm ET

Republicans probably realistically had no chance of regaining the House in '08. However, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, and Schumer continually go 'far, far out of their way' in pumping life into the Republican Party. It is solely due to the irresponsibility of the afore mentioned group of 'bought and paid for allies of MoveOn.org'the give the Republicans a 'very real' chance of regaining their foothold. The best thing the Dems could do would be to insist that the 'fantasy foursome' not be interviewed or shown on TV. The fact that this can't happen gives Republicans HOPE.

Joe, Iowa City, Iowa   October 16th, 2007 12:36 pm ET

The first person who should be tossed is Nancy Pelosi. This who Turkish/Armenian genocide issue from some 80 years ago is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in politics! Allies in the Middle East are few and far between and straining a positive relationship that exists today for events that occurred 80 years ago shows no concept of politics at all. Are there a select group of people who care about this issue and are very passionate about it? Sure. Is it worth messing up foreign relations with an ally today? Not even close! So congratulations Nancy! Being the first woman speaker is doing you well! Instead of spearheading issues of today like the war or immigration or homeland security you are focusing on the "correct" documentation of events 80 years ago. Way to effectively serve your country and be a complete idiot at the same time! I would rather see one of the porn stars who frequently run for governor in California take your seat as I'm sure one of them would do far less to ruin foreign policy.

Janet T., Salt Lake City, UT   October 16th, 2007 12:14 pm ET

Nancy Pelosy and Harry Reid can't get anything done because of Republicans protecting Bush. In spite of Republican congress, Republican Senate and Republican president, except for the tax cuts, Iraq war, and conservative judges what have Republican congress has achieved in 7 years of power? With a clear majority of dems with their president, they can do wonders.

Not only will the Republicans not win back the house but they will lose even more seats. They will be a minuscule bunch of crony bootlickers to a dying dogma. I predict the GOP will ultimately go the way of the WHIGS. However I do hope that we get beater and more dynamic Democratic leadership in the house and senate.

Wilfred Mendes Cumming , Ga.   October 16th, 2007 11:50 am ET

The party that believes in National
security should be the leader in congress in 2008.Every other issue is secondary to this. You can't have negotiations with irrational, tyranical leaders. We did this with Iran and in 1979 and got nowhere.
"Walk softly and carry a big stick"
It worked for Teddy Roosevelt and with

Ronald Reagan. So Hillary talk away we can see thru all your rhetoric.

John Lawton, Lockport NY   October 16th, 2007 11:49 am ET

Just to follow-up on my previous comment, in answer to the question posed, yes the Republicans can take back the House, but I think they will need to have a strong candidate for President. The disgraceful actions and words of the Democrat leadership will help, but Republican voters, and particularly the religious right will need a reason to go to the polls.

mary, san antonio, tx   October 16th, 2007 11:27 am ET

Right on Sally. You are so right. Isn't that the way it should be. I'm tired of the rich, the multi-national companies and others that do not have the good of this country involved in politics. What happened to "by the people for the people."

WDRussell, East Liverpool, Ohio   October 16th, 2007 11:16 am ET

I can understand why Americans are upset with Congress.
The D,s are mad because those they voted for aren't doing anything.
The R's are mad because they lost their 6 years of blank checks and unaccountability.

John Werth, Redmond, WA   October 16th, 2007 11:11 am ET

The tenor of the conservative messages here illustrate why the Republicans will always have a chance: the attitude of the right-wing base. In their world, Democrats aren't wrong, they're actively evil, and with that level of fanaticism the GOP can never be counted out.

Logically, of course, almost none of these comments make any sense. For example:

1) Most Republicans are Christians, but somehow it's a bad thing when Democrats care for the poor. Similarly, it is ridiculous to say that that somehow the Democrats "hate the troops" they are trying to save by bringing them home. I have no problem with questioning their methods, but at least admit that liberals' hearts are in the right place. (Side note: if you want to know whether or not this Congress is "liberal", go find an actual liberal and ask them. They're almost as angry with Congress as conservatives are.)

The gridlock in Congress is entirely the fault of Republicans. When Democrats used the filibuster (relatively rarely, by the way), the GOP threatened to overturn all the rules of the Senate to remove that rule. Meanwhile, the Republicans are now on pace to break the all-time record for filibusters by a wide margin, some by their own admission serving no purpose but to clog up the works and give the Dems a bad name. In both cases, the supposedly brutal, win-at-all-costs Democrats rolled over and let the GOP have what it wanted.

America's reputation abroad has not been damaged by Democrats. To the contrary, our allies have been shocked by the behavior of the Bush administration and are hoping the Democrats gain control of the government.

I could go on, but it would serve little purpose. Read the messages on this list from conservatives, and ask yourself if any of those minds could be changed by logic or reason. When you think the other side is evil, there's nothing to discuss.

John Lawton, Lockport NY   October 16th, 2007 10:56 am ET

I agree with the opinion that the democrats' little stunt with Turkey was treasonous, as impossible as it would be to actually prove that in court.

The GOP does have cause for concern in this election. Most voters are motivated by the loudest voice and the most grandiose promises that benefit constituents personally. With that in mind, Hillary is making expensive promises that will most definitely win her the democratic nomination, and the leading Republicans are not very appealing to the "religious right".

Mike, NY   October 16th, 2007 10:55 am ET

It's easy to say the Dems will keep Congress and take the presidency in 2008, and earlier this year it may have been true. But the Democrats are being such idiots, I wouldn't be surprised if Republicans take over again.

Sally, Colorado Springs, Colorado   October 16th, 2007 10:53 am ET

After the mess the Republicans have made during the last 7 years?

After the lack of action we've seen the Democrats make since they took back control?

I say drop both parties, create new parties and DO NOT ALLOW anyone who makes over $50,000 a year to EVER run for office. Let's let the poor and middle class be the only ones who can run for office. Let's see if America can get back to what America really stands for — a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

mary, san antonio, tx   October 16th, 2007 10:34 am ET

I always thought that our "representatives" in DC were supposed to represent the best interests of the people and of the country. I have only heard about these people lining their own pockets and those of their families and friends. I guess the thought of honest people with integrity in our nations capitol is just a pipe dream. Like many people I am frustrated and very disappointed with our so called people in our government, you would think that knowing this that they would make an effort to do the right thing. What ever happened to "support and defend the constitution of the United States," at least what is left of it.

By the way CNN, why aren't you reporting ALL of the facts about our representatives? Not just what they want us to see and hear?

Jim, IA   October 16th, 2007 10:29 am ET

Bob in SF,

I don't understand your logic. You rail against the "dummies" fooled by Republican "propaganda", so you clearly have a very low opinion of Republicans and those that would vote for them (~51% of Americans in 2004). While at first you seem to argue that more Democrats are needed to eliminate the "slim margin of majority power" in order to bring about change, you end by calling Democrats and Republicans one in the same: both servants of the "elite power structures".

Who do you like? Who do you consider to be intelligent? Is it only those that share your exact opinions? How enlightened is that way of thinking?

Al, NY NY   October 16th, 2007 10:29 am ET

We do not care who has the house in 08, so long as it is not Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. They have proven to be the most unprofessional, irresponsible individuals this country has had the misfortune and embarrassment to endure. They have mocked the Americans and shut down the processes of the Congress. The world has watched in disbelief as one would witness a strong and reliable friend destroy themselves daily, purging themselves of every dirty secret and unsavory liaison in its past, to die in defeat and disrespect. No longer the proud and honored country is once was. Reid and Pelosi have succeeded in dragging America through every filthy situation they could conjure up, whether truth or lie. This is what is wrong with the GOP. Unfortunately for them, they did EXACTLY the same thing when they were in power. Instead of focusing on real issues, all we heard was Monica, impeachment, and the rest of their drivel. I guess it hurts when you're no longer the bully on the block eh???

One of the main reason Congress (including Republicans) has such low ratings is that with a small minority like the Democrats have, getting anything past the Chimp-boy and his lemmings in the congress is a battle no matter how well-intentioned and logical it is. I am looking forward to seeing a large increase in Democratic numbers in the House AND Senate

Chris, Middletown, CT   October 16th, 2007 10:25 am ET

It might happen…but there are tons of people like the ones in the blogs who will believe anything they are told….
Hillary and the other Democrats voted for the war…and voted to fund it…now they have backed away…its now "Bushs War" - and they believe that

The Left will say "Bush made up the intelligence" - yet there is no proof of this….and yet they say it as fact

The SCHIP bill could of been passed with a 20 billion dollar increase - the Democrats proposed a number they knew would get vetoed…then told the mindless minions that Bush hates children…and they believed it…

Keeping in mind that the Democrats voted for the war…and funded the war (as well as the Republicans) - the Universal Health Plan - will cost hundreds of billions…and continue to increase as population and no tort reform are factored in….wonder where this came from - read Hillarys thesis on Saul D. Alinsky - she was one of his best students….a goverment that does everything for you….where there are no "wealthy" - they should be punished….sound familiar?? (it should…it defines her campaign)

Don Longmont, CO   October 16th, 2007 10:19 am ET

I think we need to throw both party's out of office and elect independents who will represent the will of the people.

This Congress has such a poor approval rating because they are not addressing the important issues facing this country. When was the time you heard anyone actually passing a bill addressing immigration, the economy or health care. No, it is so imperative to address an issue the occured a century ago.

Daniel   October 16th, 2007 10:16 am ET

Democrats are keeping the House for sure. If anything, just look at the number of competitive seats in Ohio that are held by the GOP! The Dems are in a great position and will pick up seats. Check out these house rankings.

DH Saginaw, MI   October 16th, 2007 10:12 am ET

I must wholeheartedly agree with Kim of Peabody, MA. Pelosi and Reid have made their sole mission in life to undermine George Bush and the United States military.

If this continues, America's heartland will see that the Democrats have not been a viable alternative and Republicans will do better than conventional wisdom now expects.

J Houston, TX   October 16th, 2007 10:09 am ET

In the end, it matters little because both parties serve the elite power structures in this country.

Bingo! Give the man a dollar. Neither party cares about us, as evidenced by the low approval ratings of Congress. Even individual parties are unhappy with their own representatives.

The Democrats in Congress are only concerned with maintaining control and power at any cost. They will make any promise no matter how unrealistic or foolish. Vote Democrat and everyone in the US will be a millionaire!

The Republicans have completely lost track of their values, selling out to business lobbies. This "biofuel" BS is producing MORE CO2 than streamlining standard fuel process lines. The Iraq war is a mess because of undercommittment and miscalculations from the start. A noble idea, it has turned into an absolute mess. Meanwhile spending has gone through the roof, and despite the HIGHEST TAX INCOME the country has ever seen, we are further in defeceit spending. The tax cuts worked, the economy is stronger than analysts think (the Bears always cry "wolf"), and this could've been the chance to pull things together for the next generation. Oops.

Moe, NY   October 16th, 2007 10:07 am ET

Robert Davey   October 16th, 2007 9:58 am ET

To all the right wingers that have responded.

Get your pleasure venting here because in 2008, the leaders of the country will all be Democrats….in the White House, in the Senate and in the House.

Your choices had 8 years to implement their policies and we have, drum roll please, a war without most allies based on lies and mis-statements, world wide contempt, felony ridden officials, "good job Brownie", "Mission Accomplished", Abu Grahib, WMD, "Old Europe", "we will be greeted as liberators", ""Democracy in Iraq", need I continue. It is time for change and change will be coming.

joseph, austin, tx   October 16th, 2007 9:55 am ET

I love how you justified your socialistic views of the world. You fall victim to the fact you think these dems care about you, they just want your money so you will be depedent on them. At least repubs want to limit their role in your life, give you the chance to grow, better then sitting around waiting on big brother to take care of you. You to can read between the lines. Get the worst congress in history (both sides)out they all are a bunch of idiots, and we really need to get away from the mentality of punishing success, just because someone is successful doesnt mean they stepped all over people to get their.

Brian Williams, Crofton, KY   October 16th, 2007 9:52 am ET

It doesn't matter. Both parties are slaves to special interest. The Dems have sold out every bit as much as the Repubs. Politial parties either need to be abolished all together, or we need a viable third party. Desperately.

laurinda,ny   October 16th, 2007 12:12 am ET

They certainly will not! Hopefully they will never run this country again. They are very underhanded cold people. If you don't agree with them they try to knock you out of the way. Democrats are not at all like that. Dems are for all the people, Repubs are out for themselves.

Trollmaster, CA   October 16th, 2007 12:01 am ET

This isn't even a real question.

The question is how many more seats are Democrats going to get in 2008?

While one can point out many problems with Democrats, Americans are fed up with Repubilcans. Their Iraq plan (or lack of a real plan) of keeping over 100,000 troops there, and spending 100 billion borrowed tax dollars per year on this mess for an unlimited amount of time (Because the Iraq people will never get their act together) is a surefire loser, and no way to win an election.

No way do we want anything to smack of George Bush and his Vice President. The last eight years we have had a president who becasue he is a true believer and unable to change has made mistake after mistake. The common folk have been left out of the republican party. I will remember them on election day by toasting the change by the beer I can now buy. Whoops gas prices, health care, losing the pension plan at my work. That beer has long been gone, the republican stole it and gave it to Bill Gates.

James Ziolkowski, Buffalo, NY   October 15th, 2007 11:25 pm ET

The liberals took over Congress by lying to their liberal democrat voters and look where it got them. The liberal Democrat Congress has a 11% approval rating, the lowest in our history.

What do you think if you get a liberal democrat running for president? The same thing. Lies from Hillary Clinton has hurt my state of New York.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi and the rest of those morons from the “House Committee on Foreign Affairs” should be impeached and charged with treason!

There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for jeopardizing our Troops in Iraq by forcing such a hypocritical issue with Turkey — Our much valued and needed Ally…

Every American should read this and contact their Senator and Congressmen or Congresswomen immediately!

It seems like they are somewhat soft as well, in terms of what it takes to run as a minority.

Smaller offices, less staff, suddenly being on the wrong side of a bunch of rules they themselves wrote when they were in the majority that were designed to strengthen the house leadership and squelch the ability of the minority to offer amendments or draw out the process like they can in the Senate, and the result: GOP retirement after retirement after retirement.

It sounds like they are giving up, or at least a lot of their members are.

Frank Virginia Beach VA   October 15th, 2007 11:11 pm ET

Listening to the leader of an enemy country speak the same words verbatim that were spoken repeatedly by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi chills the blood and soul of America's patriots. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi must go.

Things look very dim for the GOP, but what do they expect, a platform that says each person in responsible to only advance themselves no matter who they walk over doing it. A platform that indicates that if an individual is having a hard time it must be because he personally at fault, a sinner somehow and deserves only distain. I won't say anything else but yes you can read between the lines here.

she, like her commie buddies, want to tax your 401K etc. for excess profits at a 100% rate and give it to those "poor" people (who didn't bother to advance themselves, work hard, educate themselves, just steal into this country in order to steal from the rest of us….THIEVES, I really, really despise them….
