I've had many family members and friends in the service in combat situations over the years. But I agree 100% with Rep. Stark. I'm glad that somebody has the nerve to speak up and call it as he sees it for a change. We're in Iraq now to cover Bush's bad judgement. Even if there was just cause for us to go invade Iraq to being with, that time is long past and there is no longer any viable reason for us to remain. Violence in Iraq is now an internal Iraqi law enforcement problem to handle. It is a disgrace that Bush won't give money to expand on what poor kids get because he says we're overbudget, but he spends ten times the amount in a week in Iraq - when not one cent of that money going into the Iraq war will ever benefit average Americans (only security firms, arms contractors, etc.). Yet our economy will be trashed for decades to come as a result of Pres. Bush's sequence of blunders. They are only 23% of the population, but their voter turn out rate of 78% is extremely high. They say they will only back a pro-life candidate. They are currently looking at Mitt Romney. That said I do not agree with this war in Iraq. It was started under false pretenses based, supposedly, on incorrect intelligence. The billions of dollars spent on the Iraq war could have been used for the s-chip program. There are many hard-working folks in this country who can barely make it and the s-chip program helps them with their children's healthcare expenses. I, basically, agree with Stark's stand and I applaud anyone who stands up and speaks his mind. I don't think President Bush is sending our troops to Iraq to have them blown up for his amusement.
