Hillary opens up on romance with Bill

Sen. Clinton said she is 'really happy' she made the decision to stay with husband Bill.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Former President Bill Clinton is quite the romantic husband, according to wife Hillary.

The Democratic presidential frontrunner discusses her relationship with her famous spouse in the latest issue of Essence Magazine, describing how the former president often showers her with gifts when returning from trips abroad.

"He's so romantic. He's always bringing me back things from his trips," the New York senator told the magazine. "He brought me a giant wooden giraffe from Africa. Oh, he bought me this watch…I had dental surgery, and he said it reminded him of teeth.”

Clinton adds she is "really happy" she decided to stay with her husband following the news of his affair in 1996 with then-White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

"Obviously we've had challenges as everybody in the world knows," she told the magazine. “But I never doubted that it was a marriage worth investing in even in the midst of those challenges and I'm really happy that I made that decision."

"Again, not a decision for everybody," she continued. "And I think it's so important for women to stand up for the right of women to make a decision that is best for them.”

Clinton also describes her first impressions of the future president when passing him by chance at Yale Law School in 1971.

"I thought he was very attractive. I mean, he was tall. At the time he had long hair and a red beard. His hair was much more red-gold, and it was curly, and he had a vikingesque beard."

Grow up and stop with the name calling.
If you've got evidence to prove what I said in the previous post was wrong fine...cite your source.

My point was not to defend Hillary but to stop the political spin. As other people can attest, I've also pointed out the spin from liberal bloggers too. I have no like nor do I support for Hillary...too much baggage and questionable policies. However, this board exists for debate, opinions, and facts, NOT the political spin that you have so far spread. I'm sure you realize that there are far more tangible things to hit Hillary with than some thesis written nearly 40 years ago. Furthermore, I would more than likely agree with some of that stuff rather than this Alinsky business

Hillary practices the family values that repubs only talk about. She stuck with her husband and kept the family together. Repubs cheat on their wives (Rudy, Thompson, Gingrich, McCain). I'll give Romney a pass. Most repubs just talk family values, they don't live them.

    Please ladies and gents:

Do not bother defending Mrs Clinton bashing by mostly GOP half-illiterate members, bloggers and Obama bloggers masquerading as angry citizens. Power belongs to the people, allow the electorate to decide if Mrs Clinton erred to be with her husband or if she's right. It is either you are ignoramus or downright retarded to think any woman will stay with a man she met in College for 36 years because she's wants to be president. If Al Gore had won the Presidency, wouldn't his VP be the conventional choice of the party? Where is the opportunity for Mrs Clinton? Many of you are just downright information manipulators. If Kerry had won, he could have been President till 2012. Where is the opportunity with his VP vying for the position? Some of you will allude that Bill Clinton did not work hard for him so he can lose to allow an opening for his wife in 2008. No matter what he/she does, some of you will still complain. Though it did not occur to you that even Chelsea Clinton was compaigning for Kerry/Edwards in 2004 election while Pres Clinton was recovering from bypass heart surgery. To rap it up, elections are won by electoral votes and there is no other democrat in this race that will deliver Florida except Mrs Clinton. For the dems, if you choose, vote another candidate. In 13 months the result will prove itself. Did you watch the republican presidential debate? Could any of them say HOW they can beat Mrs Clinton, rather they were full of rhetorics but could not answer HOW they could do it. Did you notice the question Chris Wallace asked them – that even in Florida she's way ahead of ALL of them. They entered into another rhetorics arguing she's within margin of error in BEATING them. When you have 8 republicans UNABLE to tell their party HOW they could beat Mrs Clinton, i think we dems need to understand we have a grove going. I bet you that as soon as any of them gets the nomination they will run to the center to blur the differences between them and her in most of the policies. Hate her or like her, she's the only candidate running within the democratic party that can easily win the presidency in 2008. Vote any candidate you prefer but only one can win the presidency amongst the democratic candidate and that is Mrs Clinton. Everybody is entitled to their opinion but there's only one fact. THIS IS FACT. We need to rally around our winning ticket and rout the infidels out of White House.

When the President of the USA can engage a female intern in his Oval Office for sexual funtimes, after surviving several previous charges of sexual misconduct while married, says something about his relationship with his wife. Is he that terrible a philanderer or is his wife a.....? Just asking!

I do think this article is a bit "cheesey". But some of these statements are just terrible! Haven't you ever heard of "love blinding" you to your significant others' flaws? "Not wanting to believe" that they would cheat on you? And it's her own decision to stay with Bill, and notice – if anyone should be – he's not complaining! So quit harpooning them about their personal lives, and focus on what you dislike in their political objectives! And hey, anyone's better than Bush, right?? LOL

Why is the traditional media taking this article that discusses why African Americans should vote for her and reporting about one question. Why not share what she had to say about the African American vote? The substance of the article is why she should get the Black vote. Don't you think everyone should hear what she is saying to a significant segmet of the country.

. . . never mind that she voted for the war in which thousands of inocent people are being killed

. . . 23 of her fellow senators were not "mislead" and voted AGAINST the war. Hillary Clinton did not bother as much as to read reports.

. . . Those dead soldiers will never have chance to bring gifts to their loved ones.

. . . and you Hillary can continue being sooo romantic…

    The smartest comment posted here.

Wow, so many nasty and petty comments!!! What a depressingly cynical country we have become!!!

When is the statute of limitation on the Monica issue going to expire? It's been 9 long years and, as far as we know, Bill has not transgressed again.

It always amazes me how people who claim to be "Christians" are the most judgmental and unforgiving. I guess that I missed those lessons in Bible school, my Christ is all about love and forgiveness. I pity some of you.....

Does the fact that she overlooked an affair have anything to do with the fact that if she did not stay with Bill she would have zero political power to stand on? Who gives a crap, cut through the media bs and tell the truth, and please for gods sake CNN(Media) stop making people out to be puppets. Please report news and stop reporting propaganda for your liberal/democratic viewers to buy and eat up like some sort of hallmark card.

While everyone is ripping on Hillary, did anyone ever stop to think what goes on in a marriage is far too complicated for anyone outside to analyze. We see only small parts of what is going on and can only guess at motivations. What it really boils down to is that it is no one's business but theirs as to why they stay together. All the Giuliani supporters are tearing up the Clintons but seem to ignore that their candidate brought his soon to be third wife into the mayor's mansion while wife number two and the kids were still living there.

Although I'm not a political supporter of Hillary, I have to agree with what Mike Huckabee (who is certainly no liberal) said about the Clintons a few weeks ago: they deserve credit for working through their marital problems, and in spite of everything, they managed to raise an intelligent and well-adjusted daughter. Now look at Giuliani: multiple marriages and kids who don't talk to him! "Values party," indeed.

It could have been worse for Bill Clinton.

He could have married 1)a Stepford Librarian, or 2) a vehicular manslaughter expert like the Connecticut Cowboy from Crawford did!

    Take your pick!!!

At least she does not arrange to have him call her on her cell phone in the middle of a televised speech so she can coo sweet nothings to him in front of the cameras as Guliani has done twice now. She has one marriage, Guliani three, and while her hubby may have poked Monica, The Decider is screwing the country like a drunken sailor with limitless cash.

some respondents in CNN has serious problem of hating people, especially Hillary and Bill.
This is a country where 60% marriages fails and 80% husband cheats in life time. No woman can luck her man's organ.
Our main focus is how the future presient is going to handle the health, education, security, job, etc issue. some time we Amcericans are lost is very small issue.
I really thing some people has personality wants to see half glass, or hopeless so likes to hate other humabn being.
You might thing your are doing great job by hating Hillary but you should know that more the you hate her without sense more people think you are DUMB ASS! IF YOU WANT TO BE DUMB ASS BE IT!!!
