Romney open to Iran 'bombardment'

Watch Romney explain his approach to Iran.

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (CNN) - Campaigning in the critical primary state of New Hampshire, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said Thursday that he would take “military action” against Iran if “strict economic and diplomatic sanctions” did not curtail that country’s nuclear buildup.

“Let their country know that they are a pariah,” Romney said firmly during a visit to a local hospital.

“If for some reason they continue down their course of folly toward nuclear ambition, then I would take military action if that's available to us. That's an option that's on the table.”

“I really can't lay out exactly how that would be done, but we have a number of options, from blockade to bombardment of some kind….[F]rankly, I think it's unacceptable for Iran to have nuclear weapons."

Romney reiterated that he also supported strict sanctions and other forms of international pressure to prevent Iran’s nuclear buildup. He also said he would seek to indict Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad under the U.N.’s Genocide Convention.

The US Government is so corrupt and hell bent on military action for oil, Israel and war profiteering that it doesn't matter what the general population think. There is NO IMMINENT THREAT to the USA so WHY ARE WE INVADING OTHER NATIONS? Iraq was BS. Afghanistan was BS. We know this now so the only question is why do we put up with this crap any more?

The US Government has become the enemy. The media is useless. We The People need to band together and form our own independent government that adheres to the Constitution and not the interests of powerful lobby groups.

Get informed. Get politically active. Don't listen to the biased media.

In response to Henry- "Romney against Iran having nuclear weapons" is not a headline. Is anyone FOR Iran having nuclear weapons? CNN is pointing out something important in the headline. When someone just casually suggests "bombardment" of Iran, it should be noticed.

The more this guy opens his mouth, the more ridiculous he sounds. He never makes sense. He says whatever he thinks will appeal to the base. It is very insincere and frankly, quite unnerving. I am so tired of Mitt Romney and his flip-flopping.

    Hey Henry:
    What's inaccurate about the headline?
    "..open to bombardment"
    + his quote:
"...number of options from blockade to bombardment."

Keep on fighting the good fight against "liberal" CNN (the Multi-billion $ corp that airs Glenn Beck everynight.)

People can criticize CNN for lots of things: particularly, unsubstantive + sensationis news. Liberal? uh.

But hey, if perpetuating the myth of the "liberal media" helps feed your self-righteousness, keep it up buddy. Obviously you have nothing better to do.

As for Romney + the rest of the Bomb Iran Now Candidates (R-All, except RP), I pray they're just pandering to the big contingent of social/political conservatives who apparently think it's very Christ-like to wage unprovoked attacks on foreign countries.

In keeping with Republican values, Mitt Romney suggests that we illegally attack yet another sovereign nation because they don’t do exactly as the Republicans say. That’s nice. Thank God that he has no chance of being elected…What a sad little clown.

But don’t worry Mr. Romney; as soon as we dump our failed President, failed Secretary of State and the rest of this tragic, failed administration along with our failed Republican mindset, we can get on with the business of diplomacy. Diplomacy is our only hope with Iran and it is the correct path to take. We, as Americans, should be a guiding light of progress for the world and not, as Republicans believe, a flame thrower of destruction.

I don't understand how someone could NOT have these options on the table. That is what Romney is saying. The options are on the table. He is not trigger-happy. "strict economic and diplomatic sanctions" Please someone explain why military options should not be on the table???

This guy just insulted Obama the other day! I could not imagine he can do that while he is at the peak of his campaign and that is enough reason not to vote for him. I will vote for Obama, he has what I need!

It's our nation that is a pariah thnks to Bush and it is Bush who should be indicted as a war criminal.

Well it's hard to determine what Mitt will do since he changes his mind on positions on a daily basis. But, if the Mittster decides to attack yet another country (Iran) perhaps he could round up all those illegals put them in uniform and promise them citizenship if they fight the war for us. No problem about them actually getting citizenship, Mitt will simply change his mind!

And Henry the headlines don't change the message! The right wingnut does it all the time!

    Bush the Christian
"I will kill you in the mane of GOD"

    Bin Laden the Islamic
" I will kill you in the name of Allah"

    Romney the Mormon
" I will kill you in the name of God"

    Me the agnostic
    " I'm not killing nobody"

Maybe we get rid of religion we get rid of war.

If these morons want to fight, put them in boxing gloves, put them in a cage, put it on pay per view and let them beat themselves to death. The winner can then go to church or synagoge and pray for the loser.

I don't think it's nice diplomacy to threaten other counties by telling them we will bomb them.

Romney is no better than Bush. Anyone who wants to start WW111 now that we have nuclear weapons is crazy. No one will win and we will wipe ourselves off the planet.

    Romney, Romney, Romney,

Do you know what the Book of Mormon says about starting wars, or taking "the first offense" by invading countries. Yeah, it's not good. Just, you know, one Mormon to another.

Didn't we learn anything from WWI and WWII? [Adolf] Ahmadinejad needs to know we won't stand idly by while he acquires nukes.

All options must be left on the table.

    Romney is right.

What's the genocide that Iran's committed exactly?
This is frankly ridiculous. The republican primary race has become a contest to see who could issue the most threats. Meanwhile, this Iran that we're so busy demonizing hasn't attacked anyone in centuries, while we have invaded 2 countries unprovoked twice in the past 6 years.
    Who's the bigger threat again?

The American people should be very afraid.
These morons are starting the campaign to invade Iran, and possible Cuba. They have obviously received word from God that they are to lead a new crusade of regime changes of all the worrisome countries. Before they finish we will need a draft and, God forbid, a tax increase.
Maybe some country will decide that the U.S. has WMDs and needs a regime change.

I'll bombard your ass if you touch Iran. You need to present yourself and show proof. I DO NOT give you permission to attack Iran with OUR tax dollars. Period.
