If Kucinich had thought it was an alien spacecraft, he would not have called it "unidentified".

Reagan always consulted an astrologer while he was president.

Kucinich saw something not identifiable - so?

I have to agree with what someone else said:

<b>

I have lost respect for Tim Russert and NBC News. The UFO question was unfair, unrelated, and a complete waste of valuable time that could have been used to address important issues.

I have seen UFO's, my Republican father has seen UFO's, tens of thousands have reported them, and it is ridiculous to argue against the existence of that which is not identified.

The important thing is that Dennis Kucinich believes in the United States of America, he has the experience to lead, and he shares the values of those who want real change.

I thought Tim Russert had personal integrity, but in this example, he clearly let down the public and made himself look foolish.

Get real America, our country's future lies in the balance.

The yahoos on this blog who say or imply Kucinich is crazy for seeing a UFO is what scares me about the voters of this country. These are unthinking people. Do they really believe the we humans are the only life in the entire universe? How arrogant and 15th century.

Kucinich didn't say he saw little green men. He didn't say God spoke to him like our president did. He saw an object flying in the sky he couldn't identify, hence the term unidentified flying object - UFO.

And the thing is, he didn't lie about it. But the the great clueless out there call him crazy. This is why Bush is the president.

Normally, he spent his time as "Shoe Shine Boy". But when he takes one of his super power pills, he transformed into Underdog and saves his love interest, new age, tongue-pierced Sweet Red Elizanée Harper Purebred.

There's no need to fear, Kuci is here. I am a hero who never fails. I cannot be bothered with such details.

His nemesis Bush, Simon Bar Sinister the mad scientist.
Cheney, the anthropomorphic wolf gangster, Riff Raff.
But Underdog, I mean Kuci, also faces enemies from alien worlds too, just like real life. There’s the evil Granite Planet, the Magnet Planet, the Planet of Zot, and the Saucer Planet.

When criminals in this world appear, And break the laws that they should fear,
And frighten all who see or hear, The cry goes up both far and near for
Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!
Speed of lightning! Roar of thunder! Fighting all who rob or plunder!
Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!

And Bush believes God talks to him. I wonder how many of you mocking Kucinich, the best candidate running, believe in an invisible man in the sky, or virgin births, or people being raised from the dead, or seas parting, or burning bushes talking, or special incantations which can improve one's health, finances, love life, etc.
Silly beliefs abound. That doesn't disqualify the believer from being a competent leader.

Anyone denying this mans experience and fascination of what he saw is naive at best. Were you there? What does anyone know about anything? If you can tell me the significance of the endless universe and our place in it, can then judge what he saw.

I still have yet to understand how this is so crazy to many of you. Seriously please explain it to me. If theres something in the sky that you cant identify its "unidentified". whooooaaa, pretty crazy concept huh? Also there is life out there besides Earth, most scientists believe that too, so while its far fetched to think intelligent life would come here, its not impossible. Frankly, I would hope a president one day has the guts to increase funding to find life outside of earth and find new places we can colonize.

Some of you just need to grow up and use your heads. It disgusts me that many of you are ALLOWED to vote with some of these comments. no wonder our country is going downhill.

"We have proof that something is mentally wrong with this man Kucinich."
-- -- --
We have NO PROOF whatsoever that this incident shows Kucinich is mentally wrong. He said he saw an UNIDENTIFIED flying object. EVERY PERSON has seen unidentified objects and said "What was that?". He did not say that he saw a flying saucer or aliens. He should be judged by what he actually said rather than what people HOPE he said.

Kucinich is certainly not the first person who questioned the mental state of the president who kept saying "we are stay the course in Iraq" and then said "we were never stay the course". Bush insisted Rumsfeld would stay. He also said he wasn't concerned about bin Laden and then claimed he never said it. These sudden reversals in comments either indicate mental issues or believe that his supporters wouldn't know the difference.

I told you so. He said it with his own mouth that if nothing is wrong with Bush then, there is something wrong with him (Kucinich) and here goes the answer to his question. We have proof that something is mentally wrong with this man Kucinich. He is such a looser. That is why he is so bitter toward our Great President George W. Bush. God bless President Bush.

I think it would be very conceited to think that we are the only inhabited planet in this entire universe.

For someone with his political ambitions to admit to this with the possibility that some folks might think he is a "nut", I believe he saw something that is unexplained. Yet what he saw might have been a natural phenomenon and not from outer space.

But then again it might have been. After all it is Halloween

For someone with his political ambitions to admit to this with the possibility that some folks might think he is a "nut", I believe he saw something that is unexplained. Yet what he saw might have been a natural phenomenon and not from outer space.

Folks, he saw an unidentified flying object, not extra-terrestrials. Can you tell the difference between a helicopter and an airplane at 20 miles?...at night? Probably not. Guess what? That makes it a ufo.

A person who claims to see something in the sky that he could not identify is not automatically crazy. People beleive and see diffrent things. Now if he started using tax payers money to investigate these UFO's then thats a diffrent story.

You can't see GOD but you think he's there. I can't stand it when people ridicule others because they don't believe. People aren't going to make up something like that so people will laugh at you. He was honest enough to say what he saw and I give him alot of credit for doing that. I respect honesty!!!
You guys need to calm down. This whole thing is getting blown way out or proportion. It was a stupid and unfair question and he was just joking around about it. Kucinich is the most honest candidate up there and before you start questioning his sanity, find out the issues he stands for. His ideas are progressive and could take this country in a positive direction. STOP LETTING THE MEDIA DECIDE WHO WILL BE PRESIDENT FOR US!

Big deal. Watch the documentary channels' UFO specials. When they bring in ex-military or aviation contractors, they'll say that experimental or secret military aircraft (like the SR-71, F-117 and other planes we didn't want our enemies to know about) are often described by those without clearance as Unidentified Flying Objects, because that's the only way they can be described. UFO does not equal alien spaceship, but it's certainly a good smokescreen for top secret development and flights.

Now if he said he saw a UFO that landed on his lawn and it had little green aliens with tentacles staring at him through the windows, then I'd have to wonder...

There is nothing to criticize here. He said that he saw an unidentified flying object. He didn't claim it was full of little green Martians or anything like that. He just said he saw something he couldn't identify.

I saw a UFO once. It was simply a flying object that was pretty different from planes I'd seen before and to this day I still don't know for sure what it was. I doubt it was anything extraterrestrial, it was probably a military test plane or something but it was by definition a UFO.

Lots of people have seen things like that and it shouldn't disqualify anyone for the position of President.

Yep. Smear the antiwar guy for seeing a flying object which he could not identify. Shall we even begin talking about the insane things that Bush believes? Clinton? Biden?

CNN, you're fired. I'm cancelling my RSS feed, removing the link from my favorites, not watching your news channel, and advising everyone I know to do the same. Congratulations, you've joined FAUX on my too-stupid-even-for-journalism list.

of course cnn doesn't mention anywhere how he has risen to 7% in the national poll and came in 2nd yesterday at a leading straw poll in California.

They also seem to have failed to miss what Kucinich said previously to the UFO account. The whole night, he was the only candidate candid enough and ballsy enough to stick to his word and lay his policies on the table.

There is no doubt in my mind that MSNBC used this question as a way to skew his debate and his personal views. Can't believe the biased media that goes on in this country. Hey CNN what about all the extremely legit claims Kucinich made earlier throughout the night?

UGH! American politics, cliche and predictable as usual.

Did you guys consider the fact that maybe some open mindedness could do some good on Capital Hill. This guy is at least being honest. When did honesty oust you from politics? Oh wait, there is no honesty in politics.......yet! Having some real people in office might be the cure to some of the ills we've been facing for at least the last 8yrs.
I'm not saying that I'll vote for him, but at least his balls are bigger than the rest of them. Don't you think it's a bit egocentric to think we are the only life forms out there. That's right, some of you prob. don't think global warming is our problem.....

The question was LAME, just like the coverage it's getting here. The real headline was Kucinich calling for impeachment. I guess if Bush got a BJ, we'd be impeaching him. But getting thousands of people killed... who cares?

CNN has no credibility.

I agree with John from KY.

Extraterrestrial life is somehow more ridiculous than belief in an omnipotent magical dictator? In the Republican party we have 3 candidates who don't believe in evolution. There's more crazy to go around than we would all like to admit.

UFO, by definition, simply means and "unidentified flying object". If you look up in the sky and see something that you don't recognize as a plane or a star or anything else in your internal database of knowledge, then it is an object, it's flying in some way, and you can't identify it. Whether or not there is an earthly explanation is another thing altogether. But, it is a UFO. Now, concerning whether or not it is an alien craft, or whether life even exists on other planets, is another issue altogether. But, the best evidence for life on other planets is that there is life here on earth. I don't know if any of that alien life has visited us, but it would be tremendously ego-centric to believe that we are the only life in the universe.

People making fun of Kucinich have completely lost the point. His comment was "It was an unidentified flying object, OK? It's, like, it's unidentified. I saw something.”

Get real, people. He did NOT say he saw a flying saucer with little green men. He said he saw an UNIDENTIFIED flying object. He couldn't tell what it was. There could have been many explanations for it. He never said it came from outer space; he just saw something in the air that was not immediately identifiable. Everyone has seen things they couldn't identify at first. This is no different.

I'm not a Kucinich fan, but it's really stupid to hang him for a completely honest statement. He said he couldn't identify it and you are insisting that he could? Grow up!

Why is this presented by CNN.com and other news websites as humorous?

Polls suggest more than 2/3 of Americans genuinely believe in UFOs, and the possibility of life outside of the boundaries of earth.

It is not taken seriously by the media which is a travesty, this is one of the most important issues of our time: Are we alone?

How is it supposed to be presented in a serious way and taken seriously when so called 'news' outlets make fun of it?

Come on, can you actually cover something in an unbiased manner, or do you have to put a spin on everything.

Also, UFO's are seen all the time, the man did not say that he saw aliens or believed in them, he merely said he saw something in the night sky that was unidentifiable based on his knowledge. What is wrong with that? I've seen things in the sky that I don't know what they were, but I don't think they were aliens. Someone else stated a weather balloon possibly. You clearly are trying to make him look like a loon which is morally disgusting and is part of what is wrong with the median as a general resource, cause someone has their hand in your pockets, you have an agenda. Too bad everyone already knows.
