Bush: Cheney's Darth Vader for Halloween

President Bush suggested Wednesday the vice president is going as Darth Vader this Halloween.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Even Vice President Dick Cheney is dressing up for Halloween - according to President Bush.

Speaking before a Grocery Manufacturers Association gathering Wednesday, Bush suggested his No. 2 is going as "Star Wars" nemesis Darth Vader this year - even though he's not wearing a costume.

"This morning I was with the vice president," Bush joked. "I was asking him what costume he was planning. He said, 'Well I'm already wearing it,' and then he mumbled something about the dark side of the force."

Cheney has often been likened to the infamous character, most recently by Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at a fundraiser in September.

"You can always tell when the Republicans are getting restless, because the Vice President’s motorcade pulls into the Capitol, and Darth Vader emerges," the New York senator said.

Cheney himself addressed the comparison earlier this month, telling the Institute for Near East Policy, "Most of you knew me long before anyone called me Darth Vader.”

"I've been asked if that nickname bothers me, and the answer is, no," Cheney added then. "After all, Darth Vader is one of the nicer things I've been called recently."

Cheney should have went as the Darth Vader look-alike from Spaceballs. The pair of them (Cheney and Bush) are more of a joke than any other administration in history.

Cheney is an insult to villians everywhere – real or fictional. He's just notorious for being a demented plain ol'good-for-nuthin' shell of a human being.

Here is a thought...It’s a joke guys. Every time any republican makes a joke, they're criticized, yet nobody has anything to say about the Joke that is the liberal congress. And before people make fun of anyone for their stupidity or ignorance, they should learn how to spell Halloween or emperor.

And FEMA employees are dressing up as reporters...what a depraved world.
Why do we just sit back, laugh, and accept this nonsense? Is anything too outrageous anymore?

    Vote and pray for change.

Actually, I believe that the people of Mississippi and California are going as taxpaying construction workers and firefighters, and the people of New Orleans as welfare recipients. Whose idea was it to ship all the red tape to New Orleans anyway ? Or did California and Mississippi just leave it in the box for some other occasion besides the excuse-du-jour ?

Dick Cheney should do Halloween as himself. That's scarey enough.

I'd like to see him wear an orange jumpsuit for Halloween... and every other day for the rest of his life.

Why don't Cheney, Bush, Blizter, and all the CNN Moderators spend Halloween and Thanksgiving in Iraq, showing the troops how much we appreciate the freedom they are providing for our country. Or on the Democratic campaign trail, asking the Democrats what their response to 911 would have been.

Why would you brag about that>?

What possibly do you get from that? Maybe when History judges he will have primed us all to expect a "live up to it" comparison.

If you live up to a terrible character, that when they find out the truth, You will have needed to already establish a threshold. One, to attempt to associate with the Likeability aspect of a Comic Book Super Villain. At worst, to diminish extent of crimes by liking them to what the favored supervillen would do.

We won't have Dick to kick around much longer. I just want to praise him for his attempt to demon-strate the finer qualities of his namesake, Darth Vader.

If you are going to report on something as trivial as this, you might as well get your facts straight. Vice President Cheney's remarks were made to The Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

It is truly amazing how liberals operate completely out of touch with reality.

They should be put out of their misery.

I regret having wasted 5 minutes of my life reading this "news" article. It's only purpose is to give the hateful left a place to meet to reinforce and advertise their hatred. Nice work CNN, I am now stupider for having visited your site.

How apropos! He is really the power in Washington because a village idiot occupies the Oval Office. He's a sinister, evil man who just loves to see people blown to bits and lots and lots of blood spilled. Iraq is a good example of hid lust for blood. Actually, he's more of a vampire than anything else. Boy, his old pals at Haliburton must love him! I just wonder how much they are paying him to keep blowing people up.

In other news, here's some interesting info:

    1. No Habeas Corpus for “Any Person”

The Military Commissions Act of 2006 ushered in military commission law for U.S. citizens and non-citizens alike, allowing for institution of a military alternative to the civilian justice system for “any person” arbitrarily deemed to be an enemy of the state.

One section of the act is specifically directed at American citizens: “Any person subject to this chapter who, in breach of an allegiance or duty to the United States, knowingly and intentionally aids an enemy of the United States, or one of the co-belligerents of the enemy, shall be punished as a military commissioner under this chapter may direct.”

    — Robert Parry, Consortium, Oct. 19, 2006.

    2.

The John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007 allows the president to deploy military troops anywhere in the United States
This law essentially nullifies the Posse Comitatus Act, signed into law in 1878, which restricts military involvement in domestic enforcement. The new law also grants the military the right to round up protesters, illegal aliens, and “potential” terrorists and grants the Pentagon $532.8 billion to implement it.

I can't believe Bob and all the other Repubs even care to dignify.

If this was Al Gore and Liberman they would be filling the blogs more that the Libs. If you're defending these moron's in an article like this then you would most likely be one of the right's BASE HATE MONGERS if this was a Dem administration. Your blind goofy loyalty to obvious ineptitude puts you on the BASE LOVE MONGERING side of your ideology and represents an equally extreme view that would turn on a dime based on the party in power.

"Are you freakin kidding me? Bush and Cheney are clowning around at a time when their approval ratings at its lowest. New Orleans is drowning in crime and broken infrastructure because of federal red tape and these idiots are laughing and carrying on..."

Wow, I didn't know that the POTUS and VPOTUS (or ANY federal officials) were directly responsible for nabbing criminals on the streets of New Orleans. Gee, and I always thought that's what the LOCAL police were for.

    Silly me.

I sure am glad we have federal government official to blame for the more than 100 years of absolute incompetence and insane levels of corruption in Louisiana's local politics and basic civil services.

Besides, Louisiana has been "managed" by Democrats for over 100 years (minus an exception here or there). There shouldn't be ANY crime there. I mean, really, after 100 years of Democrat rule, the place should be a liberal Utopia, complete with no crime, no poverty and abundance of happy smiles and rainbows for all. Kumbaya indeed! I get all fuzzy just thinking about it!
