So the lets play dirty plan is working and Hillary is slipping in the polls. She isn't freefallingl, just slipping, but keep at her boys, maybe you can topple her, but I think not. As for playing the cards that work for you, who is doing this more then a couple of the guys she is running against. Keep kicking her while you think she is down John, it won't help, but get your jollies you pathetic wimp.

A. Thomas-

People like you seemed to be more concerned about a pricey haircut that the millions of dollars and thousands of lives lost in the Bush-Cheney war in Iraq that Hillary Clinton proudly voted for.

Why is it that Hillary Clinton supporters always talk about polls and petty matters? I never hear Hillary people even mention the war- it's like they are in denial that it is even going on.

"I think that Senator Clinton ought to be held to the same standard that every other presidential candidate is held to," Edwards said. "And that standard is to not engage in double talk. To be straight and honest with people."

And you should practice what you preach Johnny Boy. A bit more of the Macho Male vs. the Momma's Boy personna would be a breath of fresh air where your concerned.

It would be better if we just gave Shrillary the White House. Why would anybody want to know how tough she is? she needs a thicker skin! if she thought the debate was an attack wait until '08, she is going to get slammed!!!! her "BOO-HOO" Politics didn't even give her an inch. She won't be the democratic nomination, there is no way, she has too many skeletons and not enough experience! unless sleeping with the President gives you the experience and in that case there are others with the experience claim as well.

I voted for former Senator Edwards in 2004, shame on me!

I read this article, and saw him on the Sunday talk shows. When asked point blank if he thinks Senator Clinton is corrupt, a liar, and unfit to run the country he says "...no absolutely not...", then like the trial lawyer he is he goes on to list 20 ways where she COULD be corrupt.

As usual it sounds like he wants to have it both ways.

And Ms. Michelman's endorsement when she is already a senior advisor to his campaign? Laughable.

It's over John, go home.

Between Edwards bashing Clinton, Obama bashing Clinton, and Clinton bashing somebody else, I am voting for someone else. Someone besides these three CNN-gift-wrapped Front Runners. Let the boys and girls fight in their playpen while the rest of us search for a President.

Get off your high horses! No one engaged in negative attacks in the debate last week. Unless pointing out clear differences and flip flopping by your opponents count...

Even aside from her flip flop on the illegal immigrant issue, let's go back to her stance on talking to Iran without preconditions. When Obama said it he was inexperienced to be President. Yet a few weeks later, it was Clinton saying Bush's policy with Iran failed and she would meet with Iran without preconditions.

Honesty and Integrity...Obama 08!!!

Edwards is a joke. We are all so sick of hearing him complain about Hillary. He is worse than Obama by far....he needs to get a brain and come up with genuine ideas. That is how he will garner more than 5 percent of the vote. Scum bag.

I used to have a lot of respect for John Edwards. Not anymore. He's coming across as very desparate; like he has not way out so the only solution is to bash Hillary. He's lost the class that I used to think he had and that lost my vote.

Seeing the leading male Democratic candidates gang up on Sen. Clinton is having a big impact, I speculate, on a large group of female voters. The twenty-somethings have not had time to reflect on how women are treated in the workplace, but women in their thirties and older have surely noticed that almost all of the senior leadership of the corporation she works for is male. She may believe that she is more competent than the man she works for. She may feel that she should have been given a promotion instead of the guy who golfs with the boss. She may feel excluded from the sports conversations at work. She may be doing a slow burn because her ex-husband is nine years behind in child-support payments but has never missed a payment on his motorcycle.

Voting for Hillary may be a way she can say, "Screw YOU, morons" to the men in her life and her career who have treated her, in her view at least, badly. A lot of powerful feelings are going to compel a lot of women to vote for one of their own next year. The results should be very interesting.

A real Candidate would not be giving a hoot what Hillary says or does. They would be stating what they plan to do as President of the United States. Why are you worried about Hillary, Mr. Edwards. If you got the stuff, then why aren't you campaigning and stating what you plan to do as President of USA ? You are funnier than that comedian you didn't want upstaging you.

Hey John, go back to chasing ambulances and foreclosing on homes in New Orleans and leave the campaigning to those that have something important to say.

He is certainly digging to the bottom of the barrel. If Hillary falters too much and Obama starts becoming a threat, Edwards will probably say he's using a race shield, even though he's not. Not yet anyway.

John, this attack against Hillary should not surprise anyone. When your wife announced she had breast cancer I thought you'd drop out and care for your family and her health. Makes me wonder what the hell you're thinking. You want to be President for what it'll bring you - not what you can achieve for the American people. You are so desperate to win you'll do and say anything. You don't even listen during the debate - open your ears for a change.

Edwards and Obama are the one's playing the gender card here. Beating up on Hillary because she's a woman. I don't see them beating up on any one else. Like each other for example? They are abusive women bashers. I agree Hillary should not be held to a different standard. So guess what guys, that means you have to treat her equal. Right now you are treating her less, simply because she's a woman and you think you can get away with it. Well, guess what, you are taking on half of the American vote who just happen to be women. We can play the gender card if you want us to LOL...

John Edwards always considers himself a victim. What a shame!

A couple of months ago, his wife noted that obama was appealing to the black votes, and she complained that edwards could not be black.

Now, Edwards complained that he cannot be a woman.

Playing a race or woman card? That is silly. When was the last time that an american president was a woman or black man? They have been all white men, like edwards himself.

In other words, edwards should blame no one but himself for not getting the votes. The tact is that there is something wrong with edwards as a person, his policies, his speeches, his $400 haircut....

I find what Edwards is doing despicable. The idea that any Democrat would go on the warpath in a paltry attempt to boost a candidacy that was never destined to go anywhere makes no sense to me. This is a man who, as the Vice Presidential candidate in 2004, could not deliver one Southern state--not even his own. Who is he to cast stones? And the idea that Kate Michelman, whom I have always admired, would come out swinging against someone who has fought for women and children for her entire life, makes me ill. Let's stop doing this. Let's all put our best foot forward with ideas and not give the Republican attack machine yet more fodder.

Hillary Clinton has NEVER used her gender as a "shield." I'd like him to point out where she has done so; he's getting desperate, and going for the jugular.

I liked this guy initially, but no more.

Gender discrimination is real. That is why it should not be trivialized by Clinton as she has done. She is ahead in the polls, and, ironically, is relying on the legacy of her husband as she poses as a victim of "the boys". What about the worst "bad boy" in history -- Bill Clinton. Men are okay as long as they support her?

I think it is true that any woman has an extra hurdle running for president due to gender (just as Obama has a hurdle among some based on his race). But as an ardent civil rights advocate, I CANNOT forgive her constant defamation of men as "boys" piling on. This disqualifies her as a uniter.

Of course they piled on her, and they will keep doing it until they drop out. That's what trailers do to front-runners in all primaries. It has nothing to do with gender- it has everything to do with her standing in the polls. If Obama was first she'd be ganging up on him with Edwards and all the rest. Her bringing " the all-boys club" into was trying to play the gender card since she knows an all-girls club would be acting the same way in the situation.

Given Edwards own history of playing the race and gender cards, Michelman's argument has no credibility.

When Elizabeth Edwards blamed the media for their campaigns poor press, she said; <i>""We can't make John black, we can't make him a woman".</i>

Further, on his recent "Bubba" tour with Mudcat and Cooter, Edwards said:

<i>"If you're running in a tough congressional district somewhere in America, anywhere in America, and I'm in one right now, okay...You gotta ask yourself would you rather have Senator Obama at the top of the ticket to help, Senator Clinton at the top of the ticket to help, or John Edwards at the top of the ticket to help. ... .. You got to have someone who is strong in all those places and who is not a drag on candidates who are trying to win in those places. ... .. The easiest way to do it, honestly, is to picture in your head each of us running in a tough place -- we're in one right now -- and which one's going to be more helpful and which one's not, because I think that does matter."</i>

Finally, while we're being honest, let's not forget the cancer card that Edward played in his "Heros" ad.

If it's OK for Edwards to play these race, gender, and cancer cards, then it's OK for everyone else!

Seriously people, 8 years of Hillary? It's fine to support a candidate enthusiastically, but when you are willing to write-off your chance to change your mind in 4 years, that's bordering on blind fanaticism.

<b>John, the only whiner in this race is you!!! You're soooo far behind in the polls that most people are going to see your constant attacks on Hillary for what they are: an act of desperation.

You forgot Barack Owhiner... But you certainly do have a point about acts of desperation. The more these guys whine about Hillary Clinton the more I am inclined to vote for her. Even though I don't necessarily consider her to be the person I feel is the most qualified to be President.

As always it will end up being a two party race, and in a case like that you don't vote <b><i>for</i></b> the person you want to be President, you vote <b><i>against</i></b> the one you don't want to the power of being President. The good ol' "Lesser of Two Evils" game. And in this campaign, as much as I hate to admit it, Hillary Clinton is becoming the only logical choice.

Kate Michelman has, like the column states, endorsed Edwards months ago so no wonder she is engaged in the same type of negative attacks that the candidate that she supports has.

Who says she is playing the gender card? Her democratic opponents who are trailing? The republicans?
I don't see where she has done this at all. During that last debate she stood up well against the obvious attacks on her and especially the scrutiny that Russert wanted to put on her while not doing the same to the other male candidates. Does he have as bad a bias against her as he seemed to display that evening?

Hillary is shrill, greed driven fraud, who is being exposed for who and what she truly is. She cant stand the heat. During Her short political career she has been protected from such cofrontation because she cant handle it...poor poor little Hillary.....better get used to it, little girl, its gonna get worse. teh end is near for your campaign......when you lose in Iowa the wheels will come completely off

No gender bias, eh' John?

Well, actions speak louder than words....

Based on the candidates actions and behavior over the last week or so, they only added more fuel to the fire and proved Hillary Clintons very point.

Turn to any news station (except FOX, of course) and listen to the buzz and dissapointment over the growing 'hog pile' on Hillary Clinton.

We are all getting tired of hearing what the other candidates think about Hillary Clinton. As if she is were the largest threat to our nation...

Based on what I've seen so far, it seems that Clinton bashing is all that the other candidates have to offer...

I don't know about the rest of the country, but I am setting much higher standards for selecting a new leader this time around.

More misleads from "noble" John Edwards. Here is the excerpt of a press conference with Hillary Clinton (from the Boston Globe). And she's using a "gender shield" how?

"I don't think they're piling on because I'm a woman," Clinton told reporters after filing her papers to appear on the New Hampshire primary ballot. "I think they're piling on because I'm winning."

Clinton, who is well ahead in polls in New Hampshire and nationally, said she understands that "that's what happens in campaigns." Then, in the same breath, she declared her toughness and also made a joke about gender roles.

"I anticipate it's going to get even hotter, and if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen," she said. "And I'm very much at home in the kitchen."

That's funny.

How many female presidents have we had?

How many female presidential candidates have we had?

Enough said...

Its pretty pathetic to see dems resorting to Rovian attacks on Hillary. This is just like the "Al Gore says he invented the internet" stuff Rove pulled in 00. Al never said he invented the internet, and Hillary has not cried about her gender, or being picked on by the "Good ol' Boys".

However, if they repeat it enough...people will believe it, just like with Al. Its juts amazing how people in this country foster their own ignorance as if it were good.

Viva Hillary!! 2008 and 2012! Poor John. He knows he is not going to win so he's doing whatever. He knows Hillary is going to win and he's mad at her because, at the end, he's not the one people want. I don't even understand why he decided to run again after the embarrasing defeat of 2004. Bye bye! John.

frankly, isn't it true that presidential politics is an "all-boys" club? Her saying that isn't using gender as a defense. It's just the truth... Also, isn't it also slightly sexist of him to twist her words so that it seems she's trying to seem like a victim as a woman? He's trying to portray her as some "weepy woman," when her performance in the debate suggested otherwise (6 + Tim Russert against Hillary....). If gender isn't an issue, then why is he trying to make it one?

Edwards is becoming more and more unlikeable with every update on the ticker. Some of his attacks are just getting revolting.
