Watch John King's report on the future of the Republican brand.

(CNN) - The GOP brand has lost some of its luster recently.  Chief National Correspondent John King spoke with conservatives about why they think the Republican brand has suffered and what Republicans as a party must do to reform the party's image.  Watch King's report.

If the Republican party wants to rebuild their brand- that's easy just kick the fundies to the curb and let them go start their own party.

Muslims are to neocons what Jews were to Nazis.
It is difficult to witness a religious cleansing of the Middle East and the establishment of a police state at home.
But there still is one last hope for the Republican party: Mike Huckabee
(I'm joking).

Laura - Tulsa OK   November 6th, 2007 9:51 pm ET

I think the Republican party has lost its luster, but although the people who traditionally voted for GOP candidates aren't standing behind a specific person yet in the Presidential field, they still will stand for conservative viewpoints. We'll seek out candidates who best exemplify the way we want things done and will vote accordingly. But maybe this is a sign that we're moving towards getting rid off the two-party system and coming up with some other way.

Republicans:
The largest tax cut in history.

The biggest deficit in history; the last three Republican presidents multiplied the national debt 10x.

The longest Economic expansion in history.

And yet not a robust economy; instead fears of recession have plagued consumers and investors because growth is so tepid. Strong growth followed by limited recession followed by strong growth is a much healthier cycle.

Afghanistan and Iraqi democracies.

100,000's of people dead, $1,000,000,000,000's in debt spending, and two democracies unable to put down rampant insurrections, one of which will fail when we pull out; an economic revolution based on supplying the world demand for opium and a new safe haven for al Qaeda in a nation formerly hostile to them.

The highest home ownership, all races.

Record foreclosures due to unregulated business, and all the attendant financial hardships (ruined credit, bankruptcies, and banks absorbing $trillions in bad debt).

No Child Left Behind

Criticisms too numerous to list here, but including a failure to fund by the same federal government that mandated it.

Democrats:
The pitifully partisan, liberal do nothing, 110th Congress

That actually would have to be attributed to the Republicans, owing to the record filibustering they've done since this Congress convened–more filibusters than any three other Congresses combined. Pelosi and Reid made a commitment to reach out to the Republican minority in a way the previous Republican Congresses did not, having blocked 100% of Democrat-sponsored legislation during the Republican majority. But the Republicans can’t be nonpartisan even when they’re in the minority, and the Democratic majority isn’t strong enough to override filibusters—yet.

Open your eyes, RightyTighty. Nothing really good has happened to this nation under Republican stewardship.

You actually have to research this?
Why don't we look at why the rain falls?
Why the republican brand has suffered?
John King is scratching his head in wonder?

So many questions.

Steve, Lyons, CO   November 6th, 2007 4:49 pm ET

"What a ridiculously bogus lead in there John. Whose got the image problems??

Republicans:
The largest tax cut in history..."

Given to the rich and corporate, crapping as usual on the middle class.

"The longest Economic expansion in history."

An obvious lie. Clinton handed President Howdy Doody a balanced budget. Dippo has turned it into the biggest deficit in history. Jobs are flying oversees, while real wages for Americans are falling for the first time since World War II.

"Afghanistan and Iraqi democracies."

No. Both countries are in terrible shape, and the Iraq constitution states within itself that Islam is the ultimate authority.

That's called a theocracy. Educate yourself. You sound ignorant.

"The highest home ownership, all races."

More homes are being foreclosed on right now in the country than any period in recent history. Do you just look at rich CEOs when you lie about the economy?

"No Child Left Behind"

Unfunded by the Bushies, a useless law that hinders more than it helps. NOT the law originally envisioned by co-authors such as Ted Kennedy.

"Democrats:
The pitifully partisan, liberal do nothing, 110th Congress"

Totally agreed, but much of it comes from stupid Republicans STILL supporting the worst president in American history. Can't do much when these cowards enable President Worst. Ever. to veto everything good the Dems pass.

So you were about 1 out of 5. Pretty lame.

Trollmaster, CA   November 6th, 2007 4:36 pm ET

Turning America into a warmongering bankrupt police state isn't very popular, that's why the GOP sucks right now.

They have made one of the biggest mistakes in our history by invading Iraq, they have divided Americans after 9/11 instead of uniting them, they have ignored countless corruption scandals under their watch and they put their party over their nation. The American public finally sees this now.

They either need to vote for Ron Paul, who's the only guy running that's not a W Bush clone, or disband as a party.

If they keep going the way they do, they'll be voted out of existence within 15 years.

James Louisville KY   November 6th, 2007 3:54 pm ET

The answer is simple- the Republican party has been overtaken by neocons. The party isn't conservative anymore- it now represents the strong-arming of the federal government on it's citizens. Ron Paul is the only candidate that would change this drastically, moving the party back to true conservatism: small federal government, low spending, state's rights and responsible, non interventive foreign policy.

David, Dallas Tx   November 6th, 2007 3:05 pm ET

Maybe they should act Christian, instead of claiming to be Christian while advocating war, torture, anti-ecological policies, intolerance and fiscal policies that aid the rich at the expense of the poor.

I certainly can't see Jesus advocating war, torture, anti-nature policies, intolerance and stinginess towards the poor.

Of course, there's a name in politics for those who reject these things.

They're called Democrats.

Philip Koshy, Staten Island, New York   November 6th, 2007 3:03 pm ET

Ron Paul.

THEIR MEAN-SPIRITNESS MAKES ME WANNA PUKE..MAYBE A LOT OF OTHERS FEEL THE SAME WAY

Paige from St. Paul, MN   November 6th, 2007 2:47 pm ET

Ron Paul is the only Republican running. If you read and know anything about history, you would know this. The other Republicans running have lost their way. Like Bush, the blind are attempting to keep leading the blind here. WAKE UP PEOPLE BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

Chuck, Colorado Springs, CO   November 6th, 2007 2:42 pm ET

To Sarah in KC:

To the contrary, Ron Paul is just about the only Republican left in the party. The party you're referring to bears little resemblance to the Republicans of 20 years ago.

Erik, Chicago Illinois   November 6th, 2007 2:36 pm ET

Here here! Ron Paul has the grassroots support, now we just need the main streem meadia to pick up the story.

Ron, Charlottesville VA   November 6th, 2007 2:20 pm ET

Republican is to politician as Firestone is to tires.

At some point it becomes easier to launch a new brand than to rescue an old one.

MIKE ADKINS,CHARLOTTE,NC   November 6th, 2007 2:17 pm ET

they could hold a secret meeting in the minneapolis airport mens room and toe tap suggestions in gay code. (larry craig knows it) mark foley can be in charge of communications through pages and ted haggerty can pray for them. when the rest of the republican party comes out of the closets they've been hiding in they can go to confession at the catholic church and ask for forgivness for the sins they have committed, will commit and obviously enjoyed. GOP? is that good ole perverts?

Reality in Virginia   November 6th, 2007 2:15 pm ET

The Republicans need to remember they are a political party and not a RELIGIOUS party. Barry Goldwater would be rolling in his grave seeing how the 'pubs have become the American Taliban. Back to basics guys!!!! Isnt this supposed to be the party of individual freedoms and privacy???
I dont want the economy or Iraq on the back burner so some idiot can debate flag burning or gay marriage!

jay, Snellville, GA   November 6th, 2007 2:08 pm ET

Neo-Cons OUT, you are ruining my party..

This means you Hillary Clone Rudy G.

This means you Flip Flopper Romney..

AJ; Montpelier, VT   November 6th, 2007 1:38 pm ET

Aaron – Ron Paul is an idiot and just as corrupt as the rest of the Republicans.

AJ; Montpelier, VT   November 6th, 2007 1:37 pm ET

There is nothing the party can do do restore it's image. All Republicans are hate filled bigots and the rest of the world knows that. It wont change. They are the party of hate, corruption and prevarication. Just think Watergate, Iran-Contra and Iraq. Thats how Republicans can be measured.

Paul, New Orleans, LA   November 6th, 2007 1:28 pm ET

I agree with Wayne, toss out the neocons! They are liberals pretending to be conservatives. Who else would want to over extend the military? Fight an enemy that hides in the population with military when one should be using police and intelligence operatives. When has a standing army ever defeated and non professional army?

Where is the fiscal responsibility!? There is none and thats why Ron Paul should be President!

If all the pro war people want to go Iran, HOW WILL YOU PAY FOR IT WHEN ARE TRILLIONS IN DEBT??? Will you borrow more money from China?

Sarah, Kansas City, MO   November 6th, 2007 1:26 pm ET

To Aaron Kinney, Sherman Oaks CA:

Ron Paul is not a republican (he affiliates with the party), he is a libertarian.

Get rid of the christianists and the neo-cons for starters. Then go back to their roots of being the party that promoted fiscal responsiblity. This also includes fiscal responsibilty in the defense department; something that Eisenhower (republican moderate) warned everyone about.

Aaron Kinney, Sherman Oaks CA   November 6th, 2007 12:32 pm ET

There is only one thing that the party can do to restore its image. Elect Ron Paul! As yesterday's record breaking fundraising clearly shows, Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate with any real support, and any real chance of taking the White House in 2008.

Wayne,Greenville TX   November 6th, 2007 12:22 pm ET

For starters, they could kick out all the neocons.
