Cheney is a war criminal, a disgrace to America and quite possibly the devil himself. He should be impeached and then exiled out of our great nation. As for the idiot below who thinks the "House will go Republican" in 2008...dream on! The House, Senate and White House will all be Democratic next November. Once the White House is reclaimed for American it's going to need a good cleaning to get all the scum out of it!

God knows impeaching Bush and Cheney would make us all feel good. But let's think a litte further down the line. To impeach would truly tear the country apart more so than it is now. Can we afford that tragedy in order to gain a temporary sense of control?

Indisputable evidence that Bush/Cheney were manipulating intelligence before they took office can be found here: http://www.cnn.com/US/9812/16/clinton.iraq.speech/

"Saddam (Hussein) must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons," <b>Clinton said</b>.

"Earlier today I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces," <b>Clinton said</b>.

<b>"Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors," said Clinton</b>.

So much for the "liberal media." This should be front page news. Impeachment of Cheney is the minimum this country must do to bring back the Constitution. All Americans should support Mr. Kucinich's motion if they truly want to be called patriotic. Get rid of the fascists! And to the guy that suggested we invade Pakistan...get a life. You're going to have to raise taxes, bring back the draft AND start another illegal war, this time with a nuclear power, that is unless you want to have a losing strategy like we have in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Bravo to our true patriot Dennis Kucinich. With less than 9% approval rating, V.P. Cheney should be impeached. His lies leading up to the war/occupation of Iraq and saber-rattling of Iran are unconscionable.

This is of the highest importance, for those critiques that say time should not have been spent on this!! Time should be spent on fighting for our Constitution. What has this Congress come to.

I am disappointed that CNN didn't have this news out to the American people on all their prime time news shows. We must let "We the People" know that there are heroes in our government speaking out to defend our Constituition and to fight for our Democracy.

This is a great story. It will go down in history.

Why is it not reported more widely? Is it due to the corporate directives that keep conservative news out there so we citizens will not be informed of news of vital key issues that affect our democracy and quality of life?

I would like to see CNN report quality news of substance, fair and balanced.

Here’s a short list for “CHUCK” – there’s too many crimes to name here. I suggest starting at downingstreet.org
Cheney has purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United States by fabricating a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction to justify the use of the United States Armed Forces against the nation of Iraq in a manner damaging to our national security interests
Cheney purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United States about an alleged relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda in order to justify the use of the United States Armed Forces against the nation of Iraq in a manner damaging to our national security interests
Cheney has openly threatened aggression against the Republic of Iran absent any real threat to the United States, and done so with the United States proven capability to carry out such threats, thus undermining the national security of the United States
Cheney led a campaign of retribution against whistleblower Joseph Wilson, including the outing of a covert CIA operative.
Cheney led efforts to torture.
Cheney played a key role in setting up illegal spying programs.
Cheney led manipulation of pre-war intelligence.
Cheney has refused to comply with a subpoena from the Senate Judiciary Committee
Cheney created the secret Energy Task Force which operated in defiance of open-government laws.
Cheney directed massive no-bid contracts to his company, Halliburton, and profited from the same illegal war he defrauded the American public to launch.
And on, and on, and on…..

I'm confused. Isn't there something called the Geneva Convention? Doesn't it have something to do with an international law which bans the torture of POW's no matter what side they're on? I'm pretty sure Cheney was one of the biggest contributors to this illegal torture...not directly by torturing the POW's himself but turning a blind eye when he most certainly had the ability to stop it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Chuck says.."I have yet to even hear of any suggestion or commment other than to impeach this entire administration because of nothing but blind hatred.""

Well said, Chuck. They have no facts, they have no logic and they definitely have no critical thinking skills.

Wouldn't it be funny if Cheney somehow got impeached and then Bush appointed Ann Coulter as VP and then Bush got impeached and then Ann was then Prez? We would get to watch the loony leftists heads explode! LOL.

This should be FRONT PAGE NEWS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY! Why isn't it? Hmmm. It is IMPERATIVE that the Judiciary Committee allow the impeachment of Dick Cheney to move forward. After French Pres Nicolas Sarkosy's speech about how America has always been a model of democracy and freedom for the world I was saddened because that America no longer exists due to the policies of the Bush administration. Cheney must be impeached - the allegations against him must be heard in congress, for America, for the world. The congress must uphold the rule of law and take seriously the oath to defend and protect the Constitution of the U.S.A. against enemies both foreign and domestic. The rule of law must be upheld.

The distasters of the Bush/Cheney administration for the rule of law at home and in the world are not mistakes they are crimes. 9/11 was used as an excuse to put into operation the existing oil-profits inspired plans to invade Iraq. The excuses were lies. This administration has gutted disater relief, government safeguards of the environment, food and work safety, scientific/medical amd humanities research; and with signing staements, the will of the current congress. These are all crimes. The congress has a responsitbility to investigate these crimes (impeachment). For the country to begin to recover from this criminal administration it has to understand the way these huge problems willfully and criminally came into existence and hold the perpetrators accontable. If we want our constitution back and if we want our place in the world as a arespected leader among free nations we need to reverse the course. Keep up the good work Rep. Kucinich.

When criminals in this world appear,
And break the laws that they should fear,
And frighten all who see or hear,
The cry goes up both far and near for
Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!
Speed of lightning! Roar of thunder!
Fighting all who rob or plunder!
Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!

Can one of you impeach Bush and Cheney freaks please, please for just once, list here the actual crimes that were supposedly committed and which specific constitutional rights have been taken away from YOU. Please help clarify this, please support your accusations with FACTS and not the information you siphon from the liberal blogs. I have yet to even hear of any suggestion or commment other than to impeach this entire administration because of nothing but blind hatred.

Perino was way off base in saying that the Democrats haven't tried to send a good bill/legislation to the president's desk this year. They have, but President Bush, with the support of the corrupt Republican congress has vetoed their wonderful plans.

Responsibility for the high disapproval of congress lays squarely on the back of the obstructionist Republicans.

It will be a wonderful day when we can get a "working" majority of Democrats in congress and a Democratic president back in Washington!

I still hold out hope that this corrupt Vice President and President will be held accountable for their crimes, even if it's not until they're out of office. They belong in prison for their criminal acts against the U.S. Constitution and humanity.

So many Republicans voted for it because they were hoping to embarrass/murder the chances of re-election of all the Democrats who would not vote to impeach Cheney. That is why the Dems tabled the thing. It is effectively killed by going to committee because it will never get out of there regardless of who the chair is.

I love the fantasy read of what happened yesterday by people on the Left. Bottom line: Pelosi got schooled by the GOP yesterday; expect the MSM to quickly bury this story because the leader of their beloved Democrats in power put on a show that would have embarrassed the Keystone Kops. It looked like she was trying to herd feral cats and the GOP threw a big, hungry pit bull into the mix.

And she’s third in line for the Presidency??

BTW: John Conyers was one of the 81 Democrat ‘Switcheroos’ (those to voted to proceed, then changed their vote to table when it looked like it actually was going to pass). what are the odds of it coming out of his committee to the floor?

""If we really want to fight terrorism then we're going to have to take it down at it's source which for some reason has been too difficult for the current administration to do. Osama Bin Laden is still alive. Ever ask yourself why? I know I do.""

Uhh, time for a reality check. To do that, we would need to invade Pakistan. Are you for that? You LLL's (loony left liberals) are giving Bush enough grief for Iraq and Afghanistan. Last I checked, invading Iraq was a great idea. We got to save many people from Saddam's mass graves (over 300 counted) and we got to create a battlefield far from our shores in order to fight Al-Qaeda. It was a two-fer! Bush is the mature thinking adult compared to the Democrat whiny children.

""In Nixon's case I think impeachment would have been justified.""

Soooo, Nixon's hindering an investigation is worse than Clinton's lying under oath? That's laughable, but typical of rants by left-wing loons. Besides, Watergate was just about breaking in to an office to get a list of prostitutes for the Dem. convention. It's a fact. You could use the same liberal saying about Clinton's lying under oath as with Nixon's watergate....."Hey it was just about sex, what's the big deal?.

God it sure is easy to do the news when you just run White House Press Releases.

I also noticed you left out the part where the majority of democrats (the pansies) voted to kill this resolution while most of the support came from Republicans.

Also, would this be a bad time to note that a majority of Americans are FOR impeachment?

Way to blow it CNN.

While I respect what Kucinich tried to do I think it's all too little too late. There's only one year before the next election and I don't see anything changing even if Cheney was impeached. On another note...Ryan I agree that we need to keep fighting terrorism. The problem is we've been too busy playing "World Police" and investing time into other countries' affairs. If we really want to fight terrorism then we're going to have to take it down at it's source which for some reason has been too difficult for the current administration to do.
GO Dennis! I am thrilled to see a politician with a spine. The Dems haven't been fighting hard enough for what their constituents want, and the Repubs have let their party get hijacked by a bunch of wackjobs who need to be impeached!

I hope CNN makes note that this is not a news issue for just "the fringe left wingers," but it's worthy of some decent coverage for the American people.

"Hey all you "The republican party is satan" do a little research on this. The dems tabled it, not the Republicans. And yes, that means it's basically killed."

You need to do some research. House Resolution WAS NOT TABLED. Thanks to the Republicans and the Democrats who changed their votes.

HR 333 WAS sent to committee.

You need to get your facts straight before you tell others to research.

CNN...I'm ashamed of you!!! Having to "dig" for this story, after watching the proceedings on the House floor yesterday, only to find that this is an outright lie?? I suggest you rewrite this story with what REALLY happened yesterday, and that you put it on your main page! The House voted AGAINST killing it, and in fact it's on it's way to the Judiciary committee.
Thank you

Its called checks and balances Ryan. The founding fathers, who had far more intelligence and vision than this administration, were most fearful of a despotic government that disregarded the rule of law. Holding Cheney accountable for violating this obligation and public trust is a necessary part of our system of government.

And for Ms. Perino and the Bush administration, your comments show the biggest flaw in your administration. Defending the Constitution agianst the abuses of the executive branch is Congress' most essential obligation to the people.

And people say CNN is the liberal media, what a bunch of crap. Not as bad as faux news, but not much better either. The impeachment bill is not dead, everyone just needs to call John Conyers today at 1-800-828-0498 then asked for Conyer's office, or 202-225-3951 and tell him the people want the impeachment hearings to go through. Dennis is one of the few that actually listens to the people, but of course the media likes war, Britney, Paris, and keeping the people uninformed on things that really matters. I'm glad I don't depend on any MSM station to get the actual news, it's all entertainment and about making money, not about reporting the news.

Cheney and Bush need to be removed from office!
We need to send a message to the executive that you cannot ignore the constitution and the law. The executive cannot torture people. The executive cannot start a war on a lie.
Removing Bush and Cheney from office is not a far left agenda. The vast majority of people I know want Cheney and Bush removed form office.
I also feel that the torture issue by it self could warrant imprisonment.

Fred, you can see the roll calls online.
Motion to table: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2007/roll1037.xml

Motion to refer to the Judiciary Committee: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2007/roll1039.xml

This article is very misleading and should be rewritten to correctly represent what occurred.

I only hope that when they say this initiative has been killed, it's dead like the immigration controversy.
There's an example of the Government refusing to accept defeat. Immigration will keep coming back until the Government gets it's way.
I hope like hell that action against Bu$h and Cheney continues with the same vigor that seems to be in play with issues which the administration desires.

So, the repubs pretended to be outraged over the "immorality" of Clinton's inappropriate sexual indiscretions with irrelevant impeachment hearings that rendered his presidency inert. In reality, they were just trying to prevent policies that would have alleviated significant poverty. What's really more immoral?

Now they're outraged over this congress wasting time? God, save us from these criminals who have hijacked our White House with rigged elections, lies leading to deaths, and the deepest forms of abuse and corruption! Where's the outrage from the Christian Right? what more does one administration have to do to be adequately immoral in their eyes?
