Watch Sen. Obama's remarks about Sen. Clinton's planted question.

(CNN) — At a press conference in Nashua, New Hampshire Monday , Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, refused to directly criticize Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York, after reports that her campaign staff had planted at least one question at a town-hall-style event last week.

But Obama still made a subtle dig apparently aimed at Clinton, one of his chief rivals for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination .

“I’ll let Sen. Clinton answer for her campaign,” Obama told reporters. “When I go into a town hall meeting, I never know what questions to expect and that’s a good thing because the people of New Hampshire should expect that their candidates are going to hear what’s on the voters’ minds and not what’s been concocted by the candidate’s staff."

After saying that he has sometimes received questions on the campaign trail that have stumped him, Obama said planting questions is “not a practice that we’ve ever engaged in and it’s not a practice that we ever plan to engage in.”

Obama could possibly be a plant, not a Muslim plant, but a Democratic plant. What I mean is this; The Democrats want desprately for Hillary to be the Democratic presidential canidate, therefore it may be possible that sometime in the future, the Democrats will make VERY public the fact that Obama is a Muslim, his father was a Muslim and his mother is an atheist and Obama belongs to a radical, racist, church. This will cause the Obama supporters to desert him and join Hillary's supporters therby allowing Hillary to tiptoe into the Whitehouse and become our commander-in-chief.

Wow! that is scary.

I guess we will find out in the future

One thing I like with Obama is that he is not using campaigns to control the voters’ mind, which is very ridiculous and disrespectful to smart voters like you and me. He is not a fake guy. He is like the one who says “I am showing the voters my position and let the voters themselves select their president for their good”.

Good! Obama keep your self-control. You are a man of unselfishness.

randy ross, woodlands, tx   November 17th, 2007 11:02 am ET

Obama might not plant questions but now we know CNN does. Diamonds or pearls? You've got to be kidding!

rj, houston, tx   November 17th, 2007 10:57 am ET

After the last quasi-debate, we learn that CNN plants questions. And they are fluffballs for Hillary at that. I guess they were scared straight after Russert heard from the Clinton machine. Wolf didn't want his balls handed to him by Darth Vader Hillary.

mici, dayton oh   November 13th, 2007 8:22 pm ET

Obama is one the more honest of the politicians out there it's true. But that doesn't make him Presidential material.

j–san antonio–

You're wasting YOUR time. Don't try to pass your miserable viewpoints on Obama supporters. Just because YOU couldn't win an election doesn't make you an intelligent judge of who can.

This guy is more upstanding than you can dream of being. Who do YOU want in? Bush for a never been done before third term? I'm done with this hell Bush has gotten us into. If YOU want to make a difference–YOU go join the military & put yourself in front of bombs and bullets DAY IN AND DAY OUT. I want a president that's smart enough to get us out of the quicksand bush has sunken us into. You obviously don't know jack about Obama & you're OBVIOUSLY drawn in, commenting on his story. You can't resist Obama either! THAT is SO sweet!!! J!

Larry–San Diego–

WHY wouldn't we elect him? Because he talks too fast & we're used to slow & irrelevant? The only people that would comment something like that are racist people with nothing better to do than try to keep people with other cultural backgrounds from leading with DIGNITY & INTEGRITY. It's clear that many MANY white men are threatened by an intelligent black man. I've seen it too many times to count. Why the fear? SERIOUSLY?!!

BARACK OBAMA is the only person that seems to have experience with other cultures. HE has the edge to understand how THEY govern and live. Obama is the ONE. He is the one to figure out the REAL reason we are at war. HE has values and morals HIMSELF. The only reason Obama wouldn't get in, is because of people with bias and those who are in disbelief & refuse to believe he truly is a good man. That's our problem, not his.

AJ, IL   November 13th, 2007 2:24 pm ET

Well said, Obama! He's smart enough not to jump on the Hillary Campaign Question Planting debacle but still draw distinction between Hillary and himself.

To all the Obama-haters, just remember you can never win a war-on-terror with guns and bombs. Hate begates hate!
Obama in '08.

Seam, Philly PA   November 13th, 2007 1:18 pm ET

I don't get why people claim that Obama has no experience. People in this country are soooooo misinformed. Do your homework before making false claims. You will be surprised to see the facts.

Seam, Philly PA   November 13th, 2007 1:11 pm ET

Hey D Ward of Mena, AR: You are waaaaaay out of touch with Obama's campaign. He has more merit than any candidate running. Do your research before you make dumb comments.

RuthieM   November 13th, 2007 12:28 pm ET

Good deal, Obama, keep it up. And make sure you tell this to your campaign staff so they do not put you in a trick bag. OBAMA '08!!.

DMW, Roeland Park, KS   November 13th, 2007 10:21 am ET

Self-Righteous Obama…he is getting so boring; only complaining about what Hillary does and does not do.

He has no experience to run the country and was not gaining on the frontrunner by stating what he believe in, so as most politicians do when this is the case, they attack the frontrunner.

So much for his Audacity of Hope…He and John Edwards are becoming bottom feeders. At one time, I thought about Obama, but after the last couple of weeks, he has just become an attacker in a self righteous-pious manner…such a turnoff…the media loves him because he is attacking Hillary which is what they have been egging him on to do; and he complied! How sad.

Kyu Reisch, Radcliff, Kentucky   November 13th, 2007 9:27 am ET

Kyu Reisch, Radcliff, Kentucky   November 13th, 2007 12:13 am ET

Speech maker, LA, Obama has done nothing, that's why he is doing something, attacking Hillary.
Jon, Sacramento, You should have question for Republican and Obama. Answer will be: Republican wants Obama to be nominee, so they can beat him easily in General Election, Obama and his supporters attack Hillary because Obama can not win primary by his political view.
Hillary reminds voters how does she lead the Country from Bush's mess.

josh   November 12th, 2007 11:38 pm ET

It's sad when politicians have to specify.

sonya, atlanta, ga   November 12th, 2007 9:48 pm ET

Obama has more legislative experience than Hillary and Edwards. All three do not have any executive experience. Plus in less than three years, Obama has sponsored 3 major bills that have passed Congress. Clinton 0 in 7 years and Edwards 0 in his six years. Obama has 400 bills ready to be voted on by the Senate. His illected and integrity is light years ahead of Hillary and Edwards.

Kim, Dallas, TX   November 12th, 2007 9:44 pm ET

There are many blind sheep in our country. They do have a website where you can tell if the blog information you are reading is true or not…..

1. Obama may not wear a flag on his lapel, but did you realize that all other candidates are no longer wearing them either? Obama's thought is that it's more important to demonstrate your patriotism by words and actions and not by wearing a pin. I personally don't wear a pin and I love my country…that's why I really take the time to know the candidates.

2. Obama not pledging with his hand over his heart… the picture was taken while the national anthem was playing, not the pledge. Not everyone puts their hand over their heart during the national anthem, it depends on where you were raised.

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2007/11/obama_nabbed_by_the_patriotic.html

We are given a chance here to make a difference in our country. I really don't believe we can get through many more years like the past six. Hillary would be more of the same. She has proven over and over again that she cannot be trusted and that she cannot stand firm on any response. I don't understand why anyone would wish that upon our country. Although we did end up with eight years of Bush and I found that equally as astonishing. I guess I should get to the point where nothing surprises me anymore.

I would love to have a country that is respected worldwide and one that cares about it's citizens and not just about corporations and wealth. Our country focuses on greed and selfishness, not the good of all mankind. Obama does not follow this same code of conduct in government. He would make a wonderful president. I just think that the ignorance and prejudice in our country won't elect someone that could make a difference simply because he is black and has a middle name some find offensive. Take the time to read about the candidates and find out if what you are reading is truth. Our country is dependent upon the votes cast and we really need everyone to be more informed.

by the way Jon in Sacremento. I personally don't follow your logic. I despise both Bush and Hillary and completely support Obama.

Dave, Cheverly, MD   November 12th, 2007 9:38 pm ET

Furthermore, if we did not vote him in office based on Race would not speak to Obama's extreme un-delectability. It would speak to our IN-ABLILITY to look beyond color and elect the best Candidate to lead of nation in very tough times. That would be a sad day for America and for what we as Americans stand for.

Dave, Cheverly, MD   November 12th, 2007 9:36 pm ET

To T. Anthony,

Obama has no extreme un-electability issues. That’s why no intelligent person are talking any. Lets say that opposition would rather throw the entire country and their generations to follow “Under the bus” over the fact that Obama happens to be African American. There would be a lot of “Splaining” (explaining) to do to the World and to our next generation of Americans who largely do not care about race.

Mike Longview, TX   November 12th, 2007 9:34 pm ET

Of course Republicans want Obama!
They know they can beat him!
This isn't rocket science.

HILLARY 08

ss,chicago,Illinois   November 12th, 2007 8:42 pm ET

Obama said he did not support the Iraq war from the beginning. But he never opposed it. In fact he voted for funding the war cotinually until he became a candidate for the president.Only Dennis
Kucinich opposed the war from the beginning and not Obama.
Hillary voted yes to call Iranian Revolutionary Guards a terrorist orgnisation.Obama opposed that and criticized her for calling a terrorist a terrorist.Obama does not take money from lobbyist anymore so he says but takes money from Corporations that employ those lobbyist.Money corrupts no matter what source it is raised.
Earlier Obama said everthing is on the table to fix social security. Now says he would only tax all income.
When it comes to flipflop and not being truthful it seems Obama is no better than others.

ronnie - knoxville, tn   November 12th, 2007 8:25 pm ET

he's a junior senator. he's not a commanding leader, he's a feel-good sensitive new-age guy. of course, he appeases the masses by "saying the right stuff". But sometimes the leader has to tell us to tighten our belts, or make sacrifices for war, or use common sense, or do difficult things. Obama does NONE of these things. That's because he's a socialist.

mike, dallas, texas   November 12th, 2007 8:23 pm ET

"Obama is the least experienced candidate in the race. He will lose easily to any republican candidate. I suspect that vast majority of Obama "supporters" are simply republicans hoping to trick progressives into nominating him."

and the vast right wing conspiracy continues huh? and actually Edwards has the least experience…

Someone in San Antonio Texas   November 12th, 2007 7:30 pm ET

Maybe Obama should "plant" a question that way we don't have to wait for an answer. It's like the theme on Jeopardy waiting for him to come up with a response? Hello? You gotta be quick. Uh?

J - SAN ANTONIO TEXAS   November 12th, 2007 7:28 pm ET

I agree w/Larry – San Diego "There is no way the US will elect this guy, sorry but it's true." Just wasting his time, his campaign workers time and most importantly OUR time. He couldn't run a country not even a country as small as Kuwait much less the most powerful country in the WORLD.

Why do Republicans attack Hillary… and Hillary supporters attack Obama & President Bush?

He is my President and I want everyone to actually listen to this man's vision because he is the only candidate I have ever heard in my life that actually has the vision, intelligence, and motivation to change our nation fundamentally at the most critical time in our modern history. He is the only one who can get my in-laws, my grandmother, etc. who have always voted Republican to change parties. Not against something, but because they actually believe…. HE IS HOPE!!!!

D Ward Mena, AR   November 12th, 2007 6:54 pm ET

No obama, you don't plant questions because you don't have time to do so. You spend all of your speaking time tearing down your DEMOCRATIC opponent, Hillary Clinton. I guess that is because you don't have anything to run on yourself. Save your venom for the republicans not fellow Democrats. Should you be the nominee, I will either not vote at all or write in a candidate. I would never vote for someone who can not run on their own merit, they can only run by tearing down their opponent. I am very disappointed in you and edwards.

T. Anthony   November 12th, 2007 6:17 pm ET

Obama has no chance of winning a general election…he has the most liberal voting record of ANY candidate…and is the candidate of the extreme left…Republicans hope he is the nominee so they will easily win the White House again in 08 with any of its candidates. Why is nobody talking about his extreme un-electability? His and Edwards try to beat up on Hillary instead of talking about issues only hurts the Democratic Party.

Dave, Cheverly, MD   November 12th, 2007 6:14 pm ET

To Owosso, Council Bluff

It’s like that old cigarette commercial for Tarington cigarettes. “I’d rather fight then switch”. These are die-hard Republicans; they don’t take chances or play with their party affiliations.

The fact that they are switching is important for Obama. If he is speaking in a way that die-hard Republicans are considering him. Then he truly can unite this country that has been divided far too long.

As Democrats and Republican we can have our differences of opinions. But when our standing in the world, our integrity, our soldiers lives and our leaving a great place for our children and their children, Should trump our differences. Lets elect the right person for the job.

Eugene Anaheim California   November 12th, 2007 5:59 pm ET

Obama is the least experienced candidate in the race. He will lose easily to any republican candidate. I suspect that vast majority of Obama "supporters" are simply republicans hoping to trick progressives into nominating him. In a complicated world beset with fears of terrorism– a vote for Obama in the primary– is tanatamount to the democratic party surrending. I'm not a clinton supporter–but I am a democrat.

Leo, VA   November 12th, 2007 5:29 pm ET

This guy is preaching his ideology (politics of hope). Listening to him is like going to a Sunday church service.. I never hear questions there (planted or not). He is a very good speaker, but I wonder how is he going to keep his promises, his speeches sound very demagogic..

James, Phoenix AZ   November 12th, 2007 5:12 pm ET

I am a partisan conservative. I would much rather have Hillary as the democratic nominee (from the view of Republicans winning the White House in '08)….

But I must say Mr Obama is hitting the right balance of promoting his vision for America yet not turning a blind eye to Hillary's antics.

Obama is the best Democrat candidate. I would feel "ok" if he were elected – at least we would have a shot at unifying the great divide between the parties. Hillary is S.O.S. – different day.

JM, New Milford, CT   November 12th, 2007 5:11 pm ET

Dave in MD, I did the same as your friend. I switched from being Republican to being Democrat so that I could vote for Obama. I trust his integrity, intellect, and hard work. I know that if he says something needs to be done, I can trust that he really believes it for the right reasons. I disagree with him on some issues, but the issue of trust is so much greater to me that I am willing to give him his chance.

Also, I think we need an entirely new voice, new way, new image for the rest of the world to see. Obama's the candidate to get that done.

New Research shows Obama beating Clinton in online participation. Read it here: http://www.mackenziemoritz.com/

Highlights:

*Obama’s blog is updated almost three times as frequently as Clinton’s and has generated 73,566 comments over the course of the campaign – 64,186 more than Clinton’s 9,380 comments.

*Obama’s lead in internet participation has grown in recent months as Clinton’s has fallen. Last month, users of Obama’s website posted 20,665 comments to Clinton’s 868. One possible explanation of the gap is the different policies the campaigns utilize on their websites. Obama's campaign posts all comments and allows users to flag inappropriate comments for review. Clinton's campaign makes use of a moderator, not posting comments until they have made it past the campaign's censor.

The media, especially CNN, gave Clinton a free ride for a long time. The reason there are ANY negative stories about Clinton now is because she has finally been outed as a fraud. Dave, Cheverly, MD   November 12th, 2007 4:40 pm ET

Something amazing is happening with the support of Obama. A hard core Republican best friend of mine just said he was going to changes to Democrat so he can vote for Obama. I was absolutely shocked. He is a die-hard me, me, me Republican. This was our first conversation about the 2008 Race. I guess I was avoiding it because I did not want to here his usual Democrat bashing. It finally came up in a 2-hour car ride and I am glade I was not driving when he broke the news that he was voting for Obama.

I think that if we look at Obama with out prejudices, fears or party affiliations. He is the best candidate for our Country in 2008. We need to be told the truth for a while. We know that some things should be classified, but we don’t want a new President that will just deliberately miss lead us like sheep to be slaughtered. Obama is the best person not to do that.

Richard, Ewing, NJ   November 12th, 2007 4:12 pm ET

Obama has his own issues. Yes, he has not planted people in his crowd, but he is a non-interactive person. He rarely hold townhall style meeting and rarely allows the chance for "Q&A". I suppose you do not need to plant questioners if you do not even have a "Q&A" time.

In addition, Obama critized Hillary Clinton on her vote on the Iran amendment will lead to another war and that it was irresponsible for her. Really? If it is so important, Mr. Obama, why do you cast a "undecided" vote? That sir, is truely irresponsible for 1) not taking a stance 2) critize someone does.

I am neither a fan of Clinton or Obama.

No Senator Barack (I'm too green to plant questions) Obama doesn't have shills to ask planted questions for him as does Senator Hillary(I did not plant a question with that woman… Miss Muriel Gallo-Chasanoff) nor does he vote in the Senate!

SPEECH MAKER,LA.   November 12th, 2007 4:11 pm ET

OBAMA HAS DONE NOTHING BUT MAKE SPEECH'S, WRITE BOOKS . COME ON MAN WHAT HAVE YOU EVER DONE TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT?

Janet,loudon,Nh   November 12th, 2007 4:10 pm ET

I think it is pretty clear that Hillary is loosing the game to Obama despite her network(Cnn)campaining for her the whole summer. I think grassroot campaign for Obama is working. He just got a huge endorsement in NH on friday and those are good signs with 2 months remaining to the primary. No suprises, this guy is likable to many of our kids and people who wanna be included in the goverment. All said and done, I am waiting so see how this game will play out in the finals. I like hillary but I don't know if I will vote for her because Obama is getting things sink in my heart.

bushwhacker   November 12th, 2007 4:09 pm ET

The Clinton's have proven themselves to be master politicians, whether it be planting questions, overloading town halls with supporters or responding to wilded-eyed professors screaming out support for their ideals, no one knows political corruption better than the Clintons. Let the dynasty continue..

Cheap Shot, Montana   November 12th, 2007 4:09 pm ET

Sorry Ed, no proof of any bussing by Obama only hat air from Clinton's campaign. No wonder the flags fell down

jeff,fl   November 12th, 2007 4:05 pm ET

I wanna feel American again, where a dream is a dream for everyone,white,black,yellow,blue…..I want to start off by electing some other than anybody who has been in Presidents relative. In short I want my country back!
Go O-ma-ma!

Karen, NYC   November 12th, 2007 4:04 pm ET

Barack Obama 08!

Martha,charleston,SC   November 12th, 2007 4:01 pm ET

This guy is so Amazing…The media has been witch hunting him but I can not just tell how intelligent this guy is. I certainly wont be suprised if Hillary looses to him. I am Barack supporter without shame. I have been a republican and I have lost faith with my party. Ron paul could be a choice but he is so weak to win and he is a republican, Obviously what majority of the people don't wanna see in the white house,
Obama 08!

Jared   November 12th, 2007 3:55 pm ET

Well said by Obama. Again.

John New York, NY   November 12th, 2007 3:53 pm ET

I'm glad that Sen. Obama didn't jump on the chance to attack Sen. Clinton over a relatively petty matter.

He should continue to challenge her judgement on issues such as the Iraq war and Social Security.

Also, he should take issue with any of her flip-flops on important issues.

Why? Because if he doesn't do that and Clinton becomes the nominee, the GOP is going to bring up the flip-flops anyway- from January straight till November

(Clinton-bloggers- your fingers will be worn out trying to respond to 10 months of GOP attacks.)

This is why we have primaries.

aj huntington, ny   November 12th, 2007 3:50 pm ET

Yes I believe that Obama's camp doesn't "plant" questions. But overall , I have to say it's getting boring listening to these candidates fighting amongst themselves.

caucus goer,Derry,NH   November 12th, 2007 3:49 pm ET

While we know where Barack stand on major issues, We don't know what Hillary has to offer. She has two sides on every issue and I think that is not good for America right now. I just think I have a clear view of who Barack is in a very short time compared to Hillary who I have known as first lady to senator. I think the next president need to tell us even things that we don't want to so that we can make our own choices,
caucus goer

Ed   November 12th, 2007 3:49 pm ET

By cnn consumer   November 12th, 2007 3:46 pm ET
