When flag poles attack

Clinton had to contend with falling flag poles at a press conference Monday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - She has come under increased heat recently from her Democratic presidential rivals, but on Sunday Sen. Hillary Clinton was on the receiving end of a different kind of attack - falling flag poles.

The Democratic presidential frontrunner was wrapping up a press conference in Waterloo, Iowa when several large flag poles directly behind her started to fall down, as shown on a video posted by ABC News.

Aides came rushing to the stage as Clinton herself tried to handle the falling flags crashing around her.

"I think the bases are not weighted enough," the New York senator can be heard saying on video captured by ABC.

After a couple minutes, the flags were successfully stabilized.

God, the right wing has a dull sense of humor. Will SOMEONE please come up with a single really original joke about this?

I think it is very telling that instead of yelling for aids to help her and running the opposite direction she did her best to stop the flags from falling on the ground, which, for those who take their patriotism seriously, should be looked upon admirably.

At least she didn't stand there and let them fall. Or continue reading a children's story about goats. I'm sick of these stupid stories about nothing.

LOL that big guy can't even get them to stay up, then he hands them off to a lesser important campaign worker or peon - like a real man ! Then theyall turn their backs to run away from the situation. This pretty much sums up the trainwreck that is Hillary .

In Chinese Culture, this is NOT a good sign. I wish that everything is going to be well to the US. No matter who is going to be the President.

You people are pathetic! No wonder people are so sick of the political system. But you are the ones that elected George W Bush into office, not just once but twice. Let's talk about the real lies that are told.

And she knows all about weighing the "base", now doesn't she? Just ask the Clinton News Network.

This story wouldn't be a waste of time or no one would bother reading about it. People need to lighten up a little and realize that the presidential race is very serious but there can be some light-hearted humor in certain events. I think it is comical and a nice break, if even only a second, from the seriousness of the race.

    P.S.-Hillary 2008/2012!

Flags falling on Clinton are eerily reminiscent of a lamp falling on her and Bill during a TV interview prior to Bill becoming President. The interview was focused on Bill's philandering ways, and Hillary was doing her 'stand-by-your-man' role to help him, er, THEM win the presidency. More seriously though, this is a bad omen for Clinton: If she becomes President, American will fall! God is speaking but ain't nobody listening?

Do you write for Hillary, Matt? That's great stuff! I'm looking for a press secretary that can put a positive twist on a couple things and you may be my guy. Say I mispronounce a word...can you get everyone to believe its a real word that only really smart people know? You know, like a word in one of those bridged dictionaries.

I think Tom from NM recntly found the the LANGUAGE/THESAURUS button : )

I bet they were MALE flagpoles. Bill will make sure he reprimands them with that finger.

The country has never been so divided and angry. It will only get more divided and more angry if she is elected. Dems, don't mess this one up. Anyone other than Hillary will win the National election easily.

This video is actually telling about Hillary's character because if she really cared about those flags she would have grabbed the one nearest her with both hands and stood it upright instead of sticking one weak, little hand out and then watching them all fall over. I see that and one word comes to mind: TIMID.

To tell you the truth all of you red blooded Americans, it is only a flag! This country is in a terrible mess and we should all be trying to keep IT from falling! That would be alot more "patriotic" than a dumb flag.

This is not news. It is not a catastrophe. It is a simple clumsy accident by some woman in the background. I am surprised this has been reported at all.

The only point to mention is that, as a vet, I would wish that some of the people in her entourage would have had more urgency and consideration for the flag. It should not be allowed to touch the ground. There should have been an effort by those in the background to prevent it from falling.

....and predictably, the right wing comes out in spades to post the same joke over and over again because it's just that funny after the 100th time. I reserve judgment on Hilary until after the Democratic mudslinging is over if she gets nominated.

You would think CNN would have learned to ask some real questions and post real stories, after their utter failure to ask questions about the Iraq war, but I guess not. These are just the type of stories that should run only in National Enquirer or some other flim flam news operations...poor Wolf Blitzer has been reduced to Britney Spears and stories like this.
