Ron Paul is set to have a big fundraising quarter.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul has raised $8.1 million since October 1, nearly doubling the amount he had raised over the first three quarters of the year, according to his campaign.

The Texas congressman received a total of $8.2 million in donations from when his campaign began earlier this year to September 30, his campaign said.

Claims by Paul's campaign that it has raised $8.1 million over the last month and a half, cannot be verified by CNN until fourth quarter reports are filed with the Federal Election Commission on December 31.

Dr. Paul's campaign raised a few eyebrows in Washington last week when it announced that it had raised $4.2 million in just 24 hours, on November 5. Since that announcement, the campaign has received another $1 million in donations online, his campaign announced Tuesday.

In response to Jon's request we defend 3 positions:

It is not the Ron Paul supporters or Ron Paul that has to justify these positions any longer. It is the U.S. government that is due an explanation as to the failed policies that are robbing our nation of treasure, privacy, health, families, and ultimately our Liberty. It is you that owes an explanation to your fellow Americans as to why you continue to support failed and destructive policies that have ravaged American society over the last century. And in our view, it is time for those who have forced their views on the public through government beaurocracy and disinformation campaigns to be held accountable to the American people. As Ronald Reagan himself asked in his 1976 speech in support of Goldwater, are we not due a some type of progress report on these social programs?

1. The "drug war" is a failed policy that is destroying our personal liberties, flooding our prisons with nonviolent offendors who spend more time in jail than murderers and rapists, and ultimately over substances less harmful as alcohol (no matter how much this information is supressed). Decriminilization is NOT legalization, it is a sane and humane policy to move into medical treatment of addicts and get away from destroying families of substance abusers.

2. Ron Paul has stated quite clearly that his intention is to prevent the CIA, FBI, etc. from continuing to do damage and incite hatred in other countries. He has the position that it is time for these organizations to be held accountable for their actions. It is time to streamline and rebuild these groups in order to create a more secure nation, not to eliminate intelligence gathering as some would want the public to believe.

And as much as some would like to continue the American empire, the fact of the matter is we have no reason to continue subsidizing Europe's defense while our nation suffers the cost. And we have no reason to continue the prevention of the reunification of Korea. As you mentioned China, I am sure you understand as Ron Paul does that our greatest threat to our national security is China. But not by military force, but by the simple and very well known fact that China owns a large portion of our national debt. Money which as repaid they use to purchase military equipment and expand their military capabilities.

Ron Paul is about sanity in domestic and foreign policies, and a return to traditional American values.

Even though Ron Paul is starting to show up in the polls, the results are still a lagging indicator. Paul supporters are tech savvy. They use cell phones and often don't even have a land line. And if they do, they're not sitting around waiting for the a call from their friendly pollster; they're out working to get Dr. Paul elected. Pundits who rely on polls are in for a rude awaking when the votes start to get tallied.

The reason that Ron Paul has had such low polling numbers is that until just recemtly, Ron Paul's name has not been included in the polls. Sad to see that happen in the USA.

Although the MSM will now take notice of Dr. Paul because of the funds contributed by his supporters, it is mainly because they see dollar signs and not the because they have embraced his values and/or his message of personal freedom and individual responsibility.

This spring I was rereading the Declaration of Independence and The Consitution and I was sickened almost to tears.

Though there was hope, for in the words of the Founding Fathers:

Actually, CNN has a very easy way to verify that all the money has been collected — just go to his website. Every new donation is posted, and the total updated, as they come in. It's radical transparency, the kind Ron Paul would bring to the government as President.

The millions Ron Paul is collecting is much more impressive than similar amounts raised by other candidates, because it's coming from more voters, in smaller dollar amounts. The $4.3 million on November 5th was quite impressive, but even more impressive was that over 36,000 individual donors contributed on that day.

He is also the only candidate that can beat Hillary. He can bring together Conservatives, Liberals, Independants, and just about anyone else.

1.) Ron Paul is left of Hillary on the war. She will not commit to bring the troops home. She will not commit to having dialog with Iran to ward off conflict. She has 0 foreign policy experience, unless you count what Bill did. I do not. She voted FOR the Iraq war and will not admit that vote was a mistake. Ron Paul's position on this resonates with 70% of the American people.

2.) Ron Paul is right of Hillary on spending, the budget, and the economy. Hillary is completely out-classed in this category. As we all know our wonderful Congressman does not vote to raise his pay, does not take the pension plan, does not vote for unbalanced budgets, is infinitely better in his understanding of economics and he marketplace, does not want to raise taxes, and has a 10 term congressional voting record to back that up.

3.) Hillary will attempt to run on socialized medicine. Ron Paul is a doctor and will be able to sucessfully rebut any argument she makes on this issue through personal first-hand knowledge of the sytem, its flaws, and what is needed to fix it.

4.) Our candidate Ron Paul has taken a consistant position on illegal immigration that is not only "block the border" but also addresses the socio-economic reasons we have illegal immigration in the first place. Hillary can't even say whether or not she supports driver's licenses for illegal immigrants.

5.) Hillary Clinton has been up to her eyeballs in scandals throughout her career. Big stuff, not just little stuff. Our candidate Ron Paul is as pure as the driven snow in his personal life and in his voting record. He's got integrity, honesty, great work ethic, and principles. And we have the records to prove it.

There is a live donation ticker that flashes the name and location of every donation recieved over the internet via credit or debit card. I dare you to donate $5 and watch your name immediate appear on screen. The Romney camp tried to pass off their "pledges" as a 1 day campaign haul… but FEC reports revealed that what he earned was only half that amount. Hillary Clinton's 1 day records are all strangely enough reported on the last day of the quarter. But you can plainly see for yourself on the Ron Paul website exactly how much money he is getting, and where it is coming from. Try it yourself if you dont believe me. Ron Paul is for real - the media just wants you to believe otherwise.

AJ, these aren't pledges, these ARE donations that have already been collected. Ron Paul's graph is tied directly to their credit card processing unit. So every time a person donates using a credit card, the campaign automatically adds that to the total. And offline donations get added once they accrue a decent amount.

Thats why this is now a record breaking day for donations…because while other candidates had days where they "raised" more money…those were just pledges, and Romney's highest day was something like 3.1mil. And this is real cash, thats is automatically added to campaign's account.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who seems to understand the winds and tides of market forces. The 611 billion dollars being spent in Iraq could have been a nice dent in our BOP trade deficit. Eventually the FED and its monetary policy won’t be able to help the economy with their little rate cuts. The longer we oppose market forces with monetary policy the longer we will have to face the consequences when we stop.

Americans seem to think they are entitled to just about everything just for being American. Republicans and Democrats, it doesn’t matter, people will be in for a reality check in the coming decade. The world is catching up, and we seem to have derailed everything that made this country flourish in the first place. Ron Paul is the only one who can put us back on track.

I believe that should be $8.1 million raised since October 1, not November 1. There was approximately $2.6 million raised in October and the total now (13:10 central - from ronpaul2008.com) is $8,116,478.66.

Dr. Paul's campaign raised a few eyebrows in Washington last week when it announced that it had raised $4.2 million in just 24 hours, on November 5.

Which just shows how out of touch Washington is with everyday people. Eyebrows might not have gone so high if other candidates truly resonated with informed voters.

People who have donated to Ron Paul's campaign are tired of those who claim to understand voters; they want someone who really does understand them.

thanks katy. what is little mentioned is that we found dr. paul, he didn't go out and spend on us. in fact, we're probably spending a magnitude greater, collectively, on our own through purchase of slim jims (brochures), signage, highway billboard signs, aircraft banners at sports events, rallies, local festivals, travel, newspaper adverts, radio ads, internet adds, political blogging, auto painting adverts, civil disobedience, battling MSM, writing and calling representatives, neighborhood parties and bbqs, t-shirts, hats, running for local office, bumber stickers, rides and walks across America, concerts, etc, etc. etc.

…starting to get the picture?

We DAUNT the other candidates' support, in numbers and in real dollars. All done with ZERO debts.

In the interest of correcting the story ahead of time, I am sure the RP campaign did not claim from November 1st. The 8.2 million is since October 1st. However, around 5.7 million of that was since November 1st.

I think the media is starting to wake up and realize that the Ron Paul campaign is for real, and has real shot at the GOP nomination.

This is why the neocon attacks on him in the media have increased rapidly in the past week.

As for the low poll numbers, John Kerry was even lower at the end of 2003.

Just wait until the primaries. The neocon GOP establishment will be shocked to the core.

Not only does he bring in a good amour of donations, those donations are given to him without Paul having to promote. His supports want change so much they can't wait to give him money. He also is very careful with his spending of those donations, which I believe translates into sensible money handling if elected.

This is great. Hopefully, Paul's fundraising blitz will give him more firepower in the debates against his GOP colleagues.

Now that he has the cash to conduct a fighting campaign, the Republicans will be forced to admit that public discontent with the President, the War, and with Washington is greatly affecting their party.

I hope Ron Paul raises another $20 million simply to prove - all the money in the world can not buy an election for a candidate with extremist views.

Ron Paul disciples get angry when folks suggest he is unelectable and suggest everyone else is just ignorant. PLEASE - any Ron Paul supporter .. defend these 3 Ron Paul positions:

1. LEGALIZE DRUGS

Marijuana has not been proven to kill or be more harmful than cigarettes, but Cocaine, Heroine, Crack, Meth, etc ARE dangerous, lethal, and cause significant crime in this country.

2. Eliminate FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, IRS, Dept of Education, etc.

I know RP is suggesting these issues should be managed at the State level - not the federal level. And some of the non-military issues certainly make sense. But asking Louisiana - who can't get basic services to their citizens after a hurricane - to some how manage to keep an eye on terrorists in Yemen is pure lunacy. Eliminating the FBI, CIA, and Homeland Security is clearly a step which makes us all more vulnerable to our enemies.

3. Withdraw ALL soldiers deployed outside the US (Japan, Germany, Korea, Italy, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, etc).. and withdraw from UN, NATO, WTO, etc.

Yes the Soviet Union does not exist but other threats (terrorists, China, nuclear-Iran, nuclear-Korea, etc) DO exist. Effectively Ron Paul wants to close his eyes and pretend these threats don't exist and won't ever reach our shores. Ron Paul also thinks we should stop getting involved in outside "issues" - genocide in Rawanda, genocide in Darfur, etc. HOW can one be called the last remaining super-power and turn a blind eye to our neighbors that are indiscriminately killing?
