During her Q & A session, halfway through, Hillary took an obvious prepared question, read laboriously from a page by a schoolgirl who had been conveniently positioned in the center of the front row, to Hillary's left. (Hillary was in the center of a cleared indoor square, with 4 audience quadrants around her). It was an obvious "don't kids say the darnedest things" maneuver, contrived to be reminiscent of what Art Linkletter did (apparently honestly) half a century ago, and Hillary was making a transparent effort to be a family values/aren't kids wonderful kind of a gal. After about 10-15 more minutes of adult questions only, i.e. ignoring the precious little kids, Hillary heard from Christie Vilsack, who rose from her chair to announce: "It's time to go, time for only one more question." So, Hillary immediately called on a schoolboy to her right, conveniently at the front center of his quadrant, and Hillary handled the second cute kid scenario in the same gushy way she had with the little girl. The artificial nature of the children's insertions was very reminiscent of Nixon going to China, and kids being posed to be in his background only to have their hair ribbons and jump-ropes taken away as soon as Nixon left. So, I went to look over the kiddies as the crowd dispersed. The schoolgirl and her mother were being rewarded with a photo alongside Hillary. The boy was wearing a Hillary staff badge on a string around his neck. Just a few days before this, ex-Gov.
