Giuliani is launching his first television ad.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is set to launch the first television ad of his presidential campaign in New Hampshire Thursday, two months before the early-voting state is likely to hold it's presidential primary.

The 30-second spot features Giuliani talking directly to the camera and touting his record as mayor of New York, saying, "I've been tested in a way in which the American people can look to me."

"They're not going to find perfection, but they're going to find somebody who has dealt with crisis almost on a regular basis and has had results. And in many cases, exceptional results. Results people thought weren't possible," Giuliani ads.

Giuliani's ad launch comes the same day a new CBS/New York Times poll indicates he is tied for second place among Granite State Republicans with 16 percent. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leads the poll with 34 percent.

Once again, Pope Doug graces us with his infinite wisdom. To clarify, I never stated that conservatives would carry out a Holocaust. I was merely comparing the simple-minded faith-based ideology of the far right with that of the Germans in WWII. There is a difference. I don't think that anyone in modern day America would carry out a Holocaust (conservative or liberal).
Why would you ever think that I hate? Again, it's just another leap in your mind. To me, it sounds like you are the one filled with hate.
On the subject of censorship, it seems to me that Republicans are the ones that shout down the Democrats whenever they say anything about bringing our troops home and denounce it as "unpatriotic".
By the way, Doug. Say the word "liberal" a few more times. It gives me that warm fuzzy feeling…

Doug, New Jersey   November 15th, 2007 11:36 am ET

"Oh yeah, right - you mean, like the entire right-wing threatening anti-war Americans in 2003 before the illegal war started with lies in Iraq?

Do you mean like every far-right politician, trying to blame people wanting to bring soldiers home from this stupid war for *not supporting our troops*? Like President Dimwit, for example.

Stick it in your ear. The fascists"

Yes this is exactly what I mean. The above is a great example of the absolute disregard for honesty and down right evil hatrid that consumes almost every liberal democrat. It is quite telling that liberal Democrats like you cannot and will not deal with the truth and facts, and go on creating your own reality that has not an ounce of truth to it. Liberal democrats like you are only about two things, lies and anger. Your desire to lie and base your anger on fake things that are not true is why decent Americans are unable to support liberal Democrats. I guess since you are unable to debate with truth and facts you are left to resort to censoring honest Americans.

Alex, Cyberville IT   November 15th, 2007 11:25 am ET

There is no such thing as the holocost. More English, French, German, Americans died than those claiming to be Jewish. Sure, it's sad people died, but to say the Jews made up the bulk of deaths is false. It was a holocost against everyone, not just Jews.

S.B. Stein E.B. NJ   November 15th, 2007 9:52 am ET

When it comes to the reduction of crime in NTC during Giuliani's time in office, how much of it was directly from his policies and actions? Wasn't it a time where there was a major crime bill that was passed that put more money in the hands of cities for more cops on the street? Wasn't there a lower level of crime throughout the country at the time?

Not having seen the 30 second spot, what kinds of test did it refer to? If it is about how he worked with people of all sides, I don't know how true that could be. What kind of crisis could the spot be refering to because it is important. 9/11/01 is not a valid situation because there were people doing things that he did not direct or have any control over. There were things that many point to that would have reduced the loss of life that he didn't do. Is that someone we want; a president that won't do things to protect citizens in the many aspects that citizens need to be protected?

O.K. I used to be all about Bush and bought into all this Giuliani propaganda but I woke up. I started devoting as much time as I could to study the world and to learn the truth for myself not just what I was told. This country is going in a very bad direction and Giuliani will only make it much worse. People that support the whole authoritarian approach to the world needs to take a good look at history. Please!

Trollmaster, CA   November 14th, 2007 10:13 pm ET

Sorry Tired it is your party that has its politicians talk about shooting those of the "wrong ideology" between the eyes (Alan Hevisi said that about Bush). See, Alan knew that most Liberal Democrats like you would support that but moderates and conservatives like me would be offended if a politician said that about a Liberal. So the facts show that if anyone in America is to do something as awful as the Holocost, it will be the left. Libs like you hate, conservatives debate. It is why you want me censored and why I will die for your right to free speech, that is the difference between Liberal Democrats like you, and Conservatives like me.

Posted By Doug, New Jersey : November 14, 2007 5:13 pm

Doug, no one wants you censored, especially liberals. All you're doing is making the right wing look like the morons they are. Like we needed a reminder, we've seen the past 7 years how badly they've screwed up.

Trollmaster, CA   November 14th, 2007 8:29 pm ET

I don't know what's more a known fact: that Giuliani was Mayor of NY during 9/11 or that cigerattes are bad for your health?

At least Giuliani can save a ton of money on his campaign by saying 9/11 over and over again.

KEITH JAMES LOUTTIT   November 14th, 2007 8:10 pm ET

Maybe in Sherman Oaks, california a crisis is something that happens only when the crops freeze, or the locusts arrive, or when the hills slide down on your head, or even when the ground shakes you around like a rollie-coastie, but in NYC, when Rudy took office, that is when former Mayor Dinkins left it all in the crapper, we didn't have Aaron Kinney around to enlighten us. BTW Aaron, what is YOUR particular claim to fame? Let's see you last ten minutes in NYC, without your guide dog!

Christopher   November 14th, 2007 8:01 pm ET

Before 9-11 Giuliani was getting ready to be run out of New York on a rail.

3000 people die and he thinks he's a hero.

Yeah, you're going to find a corrupt, cross-dressing, moral-less pig with dubious connections and ties to the mafia. A guy that associates with nutjobs like Norman Podhoretz who is hell bent on taking us into World War IV.

I think we should be looking for a president that has a foreign policy that is NOT World War IV.

In case you're wondering according to Podhoretz World War III was the Cold War.

Rudy Guiliani cleaned up NYC. Times Square was a mess; tourists avoided the city, which hurt the economy.

He has every right to be proud of what he accomplished there.

Many of our large cities could use a good cleaning; their murder rates are enormous. So far this year, there have been over 250 murders in Baltimore, Maryland.

Baltimore could use a Rudy to clean it up.

Ed L, Santa Fe, NM   November 14th, 2007 7:18 pm ET

GIULIANI: the skull face of death… all we'll ever hear from him is 9/11…. GO AWAY!

Todd Newland,Columbus, Ohio   November 14th, 2007 7:12 pm ET

RUDY, GO AWAAAAAAAAY. BRING BERNARD KERICK WITH YOU!

Ed,Ellenville,New York   November 14th, 2007 7:10 pm ET

All the bad stuff about Rudy makes him perfect for the republican party. And Doug,NJ-I guess you missed the science on what causes conservative thinking. If you hadn't you'd never call yourself conservative. We know about that dead spot on your brain. You should find out too if you want to know why everyone is laughing at you. Fiscal conservativism doesn't mean you're retarded, only social conservativism. And liberal is now equated with intellectual superiority. So start using more appropriate terms.

Patrick, Denver Colorado   November 14th, 2007 7:06 pm ET

Dear John from Atlanta, if you really think 9/11 was an inside job please remove yourself from our country. No sane individual believes that. I wish both democrats and republicans would formally condemn 9/11 conspiracy theorists, its the same as people who deny the holocaust. Also Mark Cuban is funding a film that gives this opinion I find this disgusting.

Lee, Mays Landing NJ   November 14th, 2007 7:02 pm ET

How was he tested? Because he happened to be mayor at the time? Anyone could have. So he didn't nervous breakdown and cry, that's not a big achievement. He was on television 24/7 talking endlessly but that tested nothing important.
This is another phony media-created myth. Rudy did not prevent the 9-11 attacks, he did not lessen them, he did not save lives, in fact he may have cost some because of his foolish decision to put the city's emergency response office in the World Trade Center.
Rudy is a loud mouthed empty suit, supported by Pat Robertson and his evengelical whackos, only because they fear Hillary, who they think is the Great Satan (another silly right wing myth).
Hopefully neither gets nominated though and thinking people in both parties should do their best to convince others.

Andrew, NJ   November 14th, 2007 6:56 pm ET

Lots of New Jerseyans think Giuliani was a good mayor…because the only area of NYC they ever visited was Manhattan.

Manhattan isn't the only borough of New York…and all the "good" things that Rudy did(strange how his #s fell at the same rate as the rest of the country), were offset horribly by how he handled the rest of the city.

Wow. You're confused. You obviously have no clue what you want.

Tired of W, OH   November 14th, 2007 4:55 pm ET

Why do the small minded repubes (I mean you, Doug) always use the word Liberal likes it's a four-letter word. "If you don't like someone's views, just call them a LIBERAL! That'll show 'em!" Are you really blind enough to think that republicans are all God's party and all democrats are satanists? It's that kind of thinking that justified the holocaust.

John, Atlanta, GA   November 14th, 2007 4:50 pm ET

Giuliani owes an apology to all the victims of 9/11. He had all their remains shipped off to China to be disposed of after 9/11. He shipped them off before hardly anything could be properly tested and what WAS tested showed traces of thermite. 9/11 was a controlled demolition. Rudy knows it and he's not telling the public. THIS MAN IS A CIMINAL. HE IS JUST AS BAD AS BUSH/CHENEY.

Your only vote will not help r get elected….you noticed I didn´t spelled out the name-it is not worth it.Sweet dreams!

Doug, New Jersey   November 14th, 2007 3:37 pm ET

Only a liberal Democrat would see such a drastic drop in crime in a city like New York as a negative thing. The lib would like to see people punished for speaking ideas and beliefs they disagree with but when it comes to selling crack, stealing, murder, and rape, the lib seems to think that stopping these things is a bad thing.

That speaks volumes about the character of Liberal Democrats and what they truly want for America. No wonder the religious vote goes Republican, how can one have fear in doing wrong by god and act like a Democrat? You can’t.

Tim, Bergen County, NJ   November 14th, 2007 2:37 pm ET

I love how when I come on these message boards, people have written all these ridiculous things like that Giuliani is a fascist fearmonger, that he only talks about 9/11, or that he will run a police state. What kind of world do you people live in? If you pay any attention to this election, you would realize that is not just sort of wrong, it is absolutely false. He was great mayor in NYC, and he could be great for the country. If people actually listen to what the man is saying, they might actually find out that he has some good ideas, and doesn't just spew 9/11 propaganda. Lastly, I find it funny that someone think there is a conservative bias towards Giuliani by CNN or any other media outlet not called Fox News. Seriously? Check the homepage, you might find that story you're looking for…

Giuliani needs to know our Brave American soldiers deal with life and death crisis everyday with perfection. Giuliani is no General Petraus who gets exceptional results that were thought to be impossible. So don't try using 9/11 to boast your imperfections. This ad makes me sick.

Laura - Tulsa OK   November 14th, 2007 1:34 pm ET

Mayor Guiliani's success was that he turned New York around from people being afraid to walk anound Central Park to a safe, clean place. He also lowered taxes there. Why shouldn't his ads be pointing out these accomplishments?

The only thing voters will get from Rudy is a police state and old ladies getting beaten up for being the wrong color or perhaps send his National Guards into the city with their name badges removed like some kind of Night Thugs beating up on young children for sitting on their stoop.

Rudy is no basket of roses. His record is long and written in the citizen’s blood.

Kate, Aurora CO   November 14th, 2007 11:49 am ET

He's right. He gave results I didn't think were possible like repeatedly arresting street performers to scare them out of the city, like instead of assisting the homeless arresting them and scaring them out of the city, like using one of America's greatest tragedies for personal financial and political gain, like taking credit for the reduction in crime done that was really attributed to David Dinkins. I never thought any of these were possible until Giuliani. America. Please. We feel for the "terrorists are coming" fear ploy the last election and are paying the price dearly. Don't fall for it again. Don't vote for this man.
