Clinton received her 19th legislative endorsement in Iowa on Monday.

DES MOINES, Iowa (CNN) – With the top-tier Democratic presidential candidates running neck and neck in Iowa, every local endorsement counts. On Monday, the campaign of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York, added to her haul.

State Representative from District 45 Beth Wessel-Kroeschell said in a statement that she's supporting Clinton based on the "depth and breadth of Sen. Clinton's experience and her knowledge of domestic and international issues."

In July, Wessel-Kroeschell introduced New Mexico governor Bill Richardson at a presidential campaign event in Ames, but held off giving an official nod, saying only "We really do have a strong field of Democratic candidates running for president this year," according to the Iowa State Daily.

Clinton currently holds the lead in Hawkeye State legislative endorsements, at 19. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, has nabbed 16, and Sen. Joe Biden, D-Delaware, has 14.

How interesting, if one is a student of irrational behavior, that Hillary's detractors continually fault us devil worshipping liberals for not listing her specific accomplishemnts. One wonders what they could list specifically that Rudy, Mitt or Fred have done in the national interest. One also wonders how a woman who has never actually done anything can also be responsible for all the evil in the world. And, not to put too fine a point on it, but if the anti-Hillary demogogues had cut themselves loose from Fox News they would have seen CNN excoriate the Clintons on a daily basis throughout his tenure in office. CNN has shown the tapes of his kiss and his lies more often than the planes hitting the WTC. They, along with NBC especially, have covered every gaffe, inappropriate laugh, mistake and pant suit Hillary has exposed to us. Those who think her a media darling are not watching the media. They are parroting the Fox Mantra of attacking the media without any specificity as to just what it is the media are doing wrong. Hillary is a politician and no doubt corners are sometimes cut. But my sweet Jesus on the Cross what she and Bill have done collectively in their entire careers does not even approach the corruption, broken laws, misjudgments and outright failures of the Bush Machine in its 7 long years of power. Bush in office has pratically purged the public memory of the impeachment except for those lost souls whose raison d'etre is hating the Clintons for having given us the most successful 8 years America has had in decades. They are pathetic in their absurd obsession with her. Maybe her successful two terms will change their minds and cause them all to become good Democrats. Afterall, they surely must be educable what with the No Child Left Behind program having been so successful. God, people, get a life! Or at least an education.

Justin, Des Moines, IA   November 28th, 2007 6:25 pm ET

It is clear simply from the dailogue above that Hillary does NOT even come close to having the ability to unite the country. She is too POLEMIC and is not a uniter. If we get a new president who can barely lead 1/2 of the country, we'll be right where we are right now. This is not what we need. We need a uniter.

Providence RI, Laura has it exactly right and you are a fool.
This is America and we can bash any candidate and it is our duty to bash Hillary. How can I respect her, be grateful or have any pride in her. Take your blinders off. That woman will promise any to get elected. Should I respect her for all the scandles that surround her or maybe because she stood by a cheating husband. Should I be grateful that her husband gave us NAFTA and made us a laughing stock to the world. Maybe I should be proud that she stole from the White House and left it trashed or possibly because she lies so easily. I do not see any positives in this very devisive woman and will try to tell everyone I know not to vote for her. Of course, my friends are smart enought not to even consider that!
I can't wait till she looses to Obama or anyone else!

Interesting that Joe Biden has 14 legislative endorsements while John Edwards, who is running neck and neck with the other two, has none.

Edrie, Arlington, VA   November 27th, 2007 11:57 am ET

And while we're at it, shall we consider a few other endorsements for Edwards:

former Gubernatorial candidate Ed Fallon
former state party chair Rob Tully
former Democratic Nominee for IA Secy of Agriculture Denise O'Brien

Then there are the 1500 member Women for Edwards, representing all 99 counties and more than 800 precincts.

And how about the fact that Edwards is the only candidate to have an organization of 99 rural county chairs (back in April!) and 1000 rural supporters. He's the only candidate with steering committees in all 99 counties.

Lest we forget, Edwards also has the endorsement of union members and their families in Iowa of about 17,000.

Interesting how easy it seems that CNN forgets details when they pertain to Edwards.

PAUL PROVIDENCE RI   November 27th, 2007 5:55 am ET

The latest Gallup poll shows that Hillary is the only dems candidate electable in the next general election.

The new Gallup Poll finds Sen. Hillary Clinton is the ONLY dems presidential candidate with an advantage over both former Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Sen. John McCain in head-to-head matchups for the 2008 general election for president. The poll of 897 registered voters nationwide was conducted Nov. 11-14, 2007.

Note however, a new Zogby Interactive survey shows Sen. Hillary Clinton shows a different result. But, Zogby uses a controversial "interactive" methodology and is not based on traditional telephone polling. The interactive poll surveys individuals who take part in online polls. These online polls are useless as one candidate’s supporters can take part in the interactive poll to manipulate the poll results.

Biden 14 endorsements, way to go Biden without as much media attention then Obama and Clinton always get, you were able to get all those endorsements. People can see the real deal with or without the media spotlight ( That gives me hope for a Iowa surprise).

Markie Bee, Sacramento, Calif.   November 26th, 2007 8:34 pm ET

Yeah, but she's reduced to tears with this poll from Zogby, who spoke to more than 9,000 likely voters. Apparently, Clinton would lose to the top FIVE Republican candidates. Huckabee beats her by FIVE POINTS!!! Huckabee!! That poll has a huge sample and the margin of error is 1 percent. That's the smallest margin of error I've ever seen in politics.

Not sure to what Laura in Tulsa is referring. Under President Clinton the budget was balanced and the debt paid down. In addition, folllowing the mid-term elections in 1994, Republicans controlled Congress and as I assume Laura from Tulsa knows, tax increases come from the House of Representatives not the WH and certainly not the First Lady.

If Laura from Tulsa is referring to Hillary's Senate career, again as a Senator she cannot intoduce bills related to spending or the budget and her entire time in the Senate prior to last January the Republicans controlled the purse-strings by controlling the House. Beyond that the increases in governemnt spending since 2001 have been at the behest of Bush and his staffers.

I do wonder just what grand experience Laura from Tulsa's candidate has. Rudy has no experience outside New York City—a place I bet Tulsans do not seek to emulate. Mitt does not even have control over what he believes or thinks. He cannot lead his own mind. Fred Thompson? Not even a good actor and he has absolutely no notable work to his credit in his 6 short years in public service. He simply strokes the right wing's desire to hear platitudes void of substance.

Hilllary is smart. She cares about her constiotuency—her biggest inroads in winning a second term came from upstate New York Republicans so that does not suggest a radical agenda to anyone who does not already despise her. She has more experience than any other Democrat or Republican and she gained much of that experience while helping the president she shared the WH with during one of the brightest periods in recent American history whether we are talking about the economy or international relations. People like Laura from Tulsa hate competence in general as evidenced by their most recent votes for president and their continued support of his failed policies at home and abroad.

Laura from Tulsa, when did you last actually study what is really going on rather than function as a parrot for the politics of fear and irrationality? Can you name a single piece of legislation sponsored by Hillary? Think of the real reasons you feel as you do for the record does not support what you say.

Aaron Smithsburg, Maryland   November 26th, 2007 7:57 pm ET

"depth and breadth " of Sen Clinton's experience? But what has she done in a leadership capacity?
Posted By Laura Tulsa OK : November 26, 2007 4:04 pm

I can argue with you till our faces turn blue. But the people have spoken in polls that Hillary has the best leadership qualities of all dems candidates.

In the recent Iowa poll and also in other state & national polls, Hillary beats Obama and other dems candidates in the following areas:

a) best leadership qualities,
b) most relevant experience,
c) worked the hardest in the state campaign, and
c) most electable in the next presidential election.

Seam, Philly, Pa   November 26th, 2007 6:59 pm ET

To State Rep Beth Wessel-Kroeschell: What depth of experience are you referring to? Hillary doesn't have that much experience in political office. Being 1st lady is insignificant; otherwise, all prior 1st ladies are just as experienced to be President, and that's not the case.

Heather, Honolulu, HI   November 26th, 2007 6:46 pm ET

Obama is statistically tied with Clinton in those polls, too. It's not just good news for Clinton and Obama, it's good news for America.

Lance in Monrovia, CA   November 26th, 2007 6:46 pm ET

Clinton competitive? Read this brand new Zogby's poll http://zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1393 that has Clinton losing to every single GOP candidate, while Obama and Edwards both win against every GOP candidate. The trends have been spiralling down for Hillary since July and slowly upward for Obama in the same period.

Ask yourself very carefully, who's electable? Also ask, why does the GOP focus so much on Hillary and maintain that she's the defacto candidate? Why are they all sending out mailers in early states complaining about Hillary?

Because she's the only thing that unites the right and polarizes the left.

Obama is the future of this nation. He has the right experience, judgement and character to make this country as great as it has been and will be again.

NO ONE WANTS MORE CLINONS/BUSHES….. We want to unify this country and move on to dealing with serious issues. If you want the best candidate she's not it, and if you want a winner she's not it. LOSE LOSE She should get used to hearing that.

Where is the news that the latest polls show ALL republican candidates beating Hillary. When Clinton was ahead by a few percentage points it was splashed everywhere.

Yes, and she also has Vilsack. You all remember, the guy whose campaign debts were paid off by the Clintons. The guy that was going to run so that he could claim Iowa for her and then he would drop out. makes you wonder what's behind this new endorsement.

It's people like the Clintons that give politicians a bad name.

I encourage anyone who is paying over 300.00 a month for health care coverage with a HUGE annual deductable (like mine) to look at the Senator's health care plan.
It is comprehensive, and will help the 'average' income household afford healthcare.
It is NOT socialized medicine as some would have you believe!
Please, look at the plan before you discount its viability.
And on international issues, Hillary Clinton is the best of ALL the choices, Repubs or Dems.
I know she will get us back on the path we so detoured from under these power crazy, neocons whose favorite pastime seemed to be trampling our Constution.
Extreme right wing Repubs are leaving Congress like rats from a sinking ship.
I'd love to see the great folks of IOWA shout out to the world that this nation is ready for a new march to greatness and that march will be led by President Elect Hillary Rodham Clinton!

Is "Daniel, NY" a Clinton staffer? We've all seen that the new Clinton strategy is to attempt to emphasize her purported "electability" in the general election, despite the fact that she has extremely high scores in "unfavorability" polls on a national scale.

BUT WAIT, take a look at the actual poll "Daniel" is referring to! It has OBAMA faring as well, if not BETTER than Clinton in these head-to-heads against Republican candidates. http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReportEmail.aspx?g=921b4d56-a6ad-46c8-9442-9c52a983e0a0

Evelyn W, St Pete FL   November 26th, 2007 4:57 pm ET

Whenever you ask the Clintonites to be specific about Hillary's experience and accomplishments, they start talking in general terms like, 'oh she was fighting for this or fighting for that. Yeah? But what specifically has she accomplished for the American people? Anybody can say they fought for something - that's an easy copout that anyone can claim.

They NEVER have a single thing that they can list as even ONE successful accomplishment. Yet she says she has been 'around' the political scene for thirty five years!!

Thirty five years without one accomplishment for anyone other than herself.

She has spent the last thirty five years focused on her own personal goals. And during every debate, the moderators never ask her to be specific about her accomplishments.

Monte Brown, New York, NY   November 26th, 2007 4:57 pm ET

Good. Iowans and most Americans know which candidate is the most qualified and the most experienced. While Obama is just pulling stunts by wooing Oprah Winfrey to campaign for him, Hillary Clinton is doing what is right and rallying the Democrats. It is becoming ever so clear each day that Hillary Clinton is more qualified than the other Democratic candidates. Obama just has big campaign money, and he is using it wisely. However, America needs a leader not a slick talking player. Big campaign chess will not provide America with the change we NEED.

You would have to be plain naïve or in denial to select Obama over Hillary. Obama is playing games. Hillary is running the cleanest campaign I’ve ever seen. Yes, Hillary has a lot of haters. Yes, some of the Hillary haters have supported Obama. Iowans need to take the time and look at this. Iowans should give Hillary their fullest support. Hillary is clearly the most qualified candidate, the most experienced candidate and she’s READY TO LEAD on day one.

Two big no-name endorsements… another sign that Hillary Clinton's "unstoppable political machine" is CRUMBLING.

She wants to mandate (i.e. FORCE) health care. Obama wants to allow CHOICE. Put the PEOPLE back in government! It's NOT people for the government, by the government. It's a government FOR the people, BY the people.
Barack Obama '08!

Dave Diamond, Mont Vernon, NH   November 26th, 2007 4:16 pm ET

Looking at the polls, you'd think this was a three-candidate contest.

But looking at these endorsements by people who really matter in Iowa, it turns out it really is a three-candidate contest after all.

Maybe not the three that everybody thinks about, though.

Joe Biden may not be receiving the attention he deserves from the media — and therefore in the polls, but he sure is getting talked about by people who are really paying attention.

Car P. Munch USA   November 26th, 2007 4:11 pm ET

With the news of Hillary's intimate involvement with personal assistant, Huma Abedin - I imagine the Gay-Lesbian political machine will work overtime to help Hillary in Iowa.

Strange thing, though, Iowans family values may not include affairs with personal assistants - just ask Bill Clinton about that.
