The only problem with his “Buy American” is that one is hard pressed to find American. Out trade agreements has for the most part been one way. From them to us. We are the consumer nation, and we need to use that power. If something can be produced here, and a company goes overseas for cheap labor, their products should carry a high tariffs when shipped into this country to make it a uneconomical business practice. If the trade imbalance is more then 10%, that trade should be limited. If you think this would spell disaster for our economy, think again. We are the consumer nation and there is real power in money. And these other countries depend upon our consumerism to run their country. They will come around, it just another form of tough love.

I would love to buy American made products - UNFORTUNATELY everything is somehow made elsewhere! Thanks to NAFTA - everything is now made overseas! Why don't they bring all the jobs back to America where we can oversee how things are made and won't comprimise our products and risk hurting our children and adults alike!! It's time for us to WAKE UP and stop just taking this and acting like there is nothing we can do!!

Thank you Rep. Duncan. I have been waiting for any one of the candidates both Republican and Democrat to discuss the issue of China's violation of the Free Trade Treaties. I am a mother of a 5 year old. I am an educator. I understand the issues surrounding trade. However, we, as parents are waiting for our government to rise to the occasion and help to protect us. Now what are we to do? Our foods and our juices are coming from China. I spent the other day with a rep from Tree Top because my apple juice all of a sudden said "concentrate from China." I was told that unless it was organic or the cider, it would be coming from China as they have a cheap contract with Tree Top to supply the concentrate. As for me and my family, if it is from China, it stays on the shelf, and we are telling the retailers we have walked out of their stores because they continue to buy products from China.

Why ""Buy American" this Chistmas season"? Why not "Buy American all the time? If we did this we could do away with our trade deficits with China, Korea, Japan, Tiawan, and all the other nations we currently have large trade deficits. One of the major problems we have with buying American is all of the outsourcing and moving production of goods over seas and to Latin America. Our government is largely at fault with all these so called "Free Trade" treaties and agreements. The American workers have been slapped in the face of the very people entrusted to ensure we have job security and let Corporate America do anything they want in seeking the Almighty Dollar. One day these CEO's, COO's, Chairmen of the Board's, and Board's of Directors are going to wake up and no Americans will be able to buy these product because we won't have the jobs or financial ability to even buy food to feed our family. We are currently to worlds largest consumer of goods and services but with our jobs and factories leaving our soil this trend will soon end. Open your eyes American Consumers Buy American and elect a government who will pass legislation to keep our jobs here. One way to help slow this trend of aou huge trade deficits is stop shopping at Wall-Mart and other big box stores which import a vast majority of their products from China.
