Andrew Jones from Seattle, Washington

(CNN) - Andrew Jones from Seattle, Washington asks: Recently, Sen. McCain has come out strongly against using water boarding as an instrument of interrogation. My question is for the rest of you, since Sen. McCain is the only one with any firsthand knowledge on the subject. How can those of you sharing the stage with him disagree with him?

What did you think about the candidates' response to the question? What would you have asked? Add your comment below, or better yet, turn on your camera to record your commentary and reaction video and send in your I-Report. Your comments below or you I-Report video could be part of CNN's post-debate coverage.

I just wanted to note for those of you pointing out flags being hung the wrong way (the Texas flag was hung backwards in another U-Tube submission), that's actually the flipping of the image by the web-camera. If you use a web-camera, everything is flipped, right becomes left, and flags will be backwards. Not an insult, just technology.

As for the responses, I was disappointed with Mitt, when you come to a debate, the people want to hear your views. It's not divulging military secrets, we're the US, we're the good guys, we don't torture.

Kerry, Lexington MA   November 29th, 2007 9:59 am ET

Interrogation techniques are a matter of national security. If Romney was to err, erring on the side of caution is always a good thing. The argument between Romney and McCain also of course highlighted their differences – McCain spending years and decades on military matters, Romney spending decades in business. Go ask McCain a question on the economy and try to get an intelligent response.

Teresa Pack, Augusta, GA   November 29th, 2007 8:37 am ET

My solution? Bring the troops home. We can't even afford bullet proof vest for our soldiers. Why are you even worrying about their survival techniques. They are doing what they need to do to survive this ridiculous, unaffordable war. Ask PUTIN what this war did to their country. They were there before. We never seen to learn from our mistakes or anyone else's. Two republican mistakes. Maybe an independent can do better than what we have.

A good question for all who identify themselves (loudly) as "Christians" would be how do they square christianity with torture.

Would Jesus approve of waterboarding?

Lets hear more about the candidates real moral values. I don't want him as president, but as a man McCain is the only one of this group that just debated that has a firm stance on this basic moral issue as to who we are.

This is the 1 and ONLY point I completly agree on Mccain with. As a resident of the state of Arizona, I have agreed with Goldwater Jr's endorsment of Ron Paul and will not be voting for Mccain.

Angela, USA   November 29th, 2007 2:09 am ET

Romney's answer was perfect. He can't state or admit whether it is or isn't torture. It would be giving away strategy and secrets to the enemy. BTW, do some research on the waterboarding technique and come away with your own conclusions.

Karen Houston,TX   November 28th, 2007 11:50 pm ET

Romney absolutely did not dodge this question. He stated specifically that he did not endorse torture. He also stated that he was not going to hand over our military tactics to the enemy. DUH? Sounds pretty darn smart to me. This guy is a candidate for Commander in Chief. McCain is a Drama Queen seizing a theatrical opportunity. GAG. Talk about twisting words and coloring outside the lines. McCain is an idiot! His dramatic swooning over Romney's straight forward answer to the question tells me that he is a low life that has to resort to below the belt blows and theatrics. Talk about torture. Get off the stage McCain you're killing me!

I can't believe liberals are so adamant about protecting the rights of terrorists who would commit acts such as the WTC attacks but will willingly and without conscience rip an innocent fetus out of a womb.

Brad, Philadelphia PA   November 28th, 2007 10:07 pm ET

he question called for a simple yes or no answer. Please stand up for your beilefs and answer the question. All the canidates have a real issue with just answering any question.
Let me know where you stand. This comment is not just pertaining to this question.

Robin, Orange, Ma   November 28th, 2007 10:01 pm ET

This is the question where Romney officially lost the debate. And my vote. Make up your mind already!!

Shawn, Knoxville, TN   November 28th, 2007 10:00 pm ET

While Romney seems to dodge the question literally, I think the intent there is right: we can't outlaw specific methods of interrogation. If waterboarding is outlawed, what method comes under fire next? Isn't it better to have a candidate that stands against torture, and let interpreters of law and tactics determine what is and isn't torture?

On a side note, why debate over rights and humane treatment for those who want to kill every American man, woman, and child?

D. Parmley   November 28th, 2007 9:55 pm ET

This fellow may want to educate himself on the proper way to display Old Glory vertically...with the blue field to the left-top from the viewers standpoint. Perhaps this photo is reveresed?? Nice......

Matthew, Somerville, Mass   November 28th, 2007 9:51 pm ET

In response to the person who said "Romney needs to stand strong in his beliefs and not keep stuttering."

In order to stand strong in ones beliefs, one must have beliefs to stand strong for. As a lifelong resident of Massachusetts, I can say I have experienced Mitt Romney's amazing ability to be on the right side of every issue he's ever been questioned on, depending on the audience he is addressing that is.

Steve, Boston, MA   November 28th, 2007 9:46 pm ET

Romney is proving himself slick and evasive in his responses to this question. He is an empty suit without a brain or a heart

Brandon, Alexandria, VA   November 28th, 2007 9:45 pm ET

Senator McCain is right on the money with his policy on waterboarding. The fact that we as Americans would use an antique technique is mind-numbing and wrong. This isn't a liberal or conservative issue. It's a matter of doing what's right.

Christian, Tampa FL   November 28th, 2007 9:42 pm ET

McCain has the unarguable superiority on this question, considering that he was himself tortured.

We MUST abide by the Geneva conventions at all times. That is what the good guys do, and if America is to be the side of good, then we must never torture.

John, New York City, NY   November 28th, 2007 9:41 pm ET

Romney came across like a fool. Saying he is against torture and not acknowedging waterboarding as torture is prepostorous. He basically refused, if elected president, to take accountability for the interrogation actions of the military which he commands.

Jim   November 28th, 2007 9:41 pm ET

Wow ronnie, you are an internet tough guy if I've ever seen one. How dare he question military tactics in America! And a question from a college student, the audacity! How many years did you serve in the military tough guy? And in those years, how often were you waterboarded?

Ryan, Houston TX   November 28th, 2007 9:40 pm ET

Romney is intelligent enough to know what is or isn't torture, he was not saying that he supports water boarding, he was stating that he is not going to give away his hand by discussing what we can and cannot do to interrogate terrorists/criminals. Huckabee's "kicking the leader in the butt" comment applies most to Romney.

Josh, Middletown PA   November 28th, 2007 9:37 pm ET

Definitive questions such as these that put candidates' backs to the wall are making Mitt Romney look like he isn't able to hold any decisive opinion at all.

pat gutierrez, purcellville, virginia   November 28th, 2007 9:37 pm ET

the flag in the video is backwards. the blue field should always be on the flag's right, thus the viewer's left.

JB, Chicago, Illinois   November 28th, 2007 9:35 pm ET

Bravo, Andrew, for asking the question that has driven the best response thusfar.

Speed, South Bend, IN   November 28th, 2007 9:32 pm ET

You KNEW that Senator McCain would give the definitive answer on this one....that is why, if some miracle or miracles happens, he is elected President (I firmly believe that the Democrats will regain the White House no matter WHO my party nominates), I can live with a President John McCain for four years !

ronnie - knoxville, tn.   November 28th, 2007 9:31 pm ET

Andrew Jones' flag is hanging the wrong way. the stars are always in the upper left, even when hanging vertically. That sets the stage for a typical liberal question that is only being asked by a college student who wants to be trendy. Interrogation is up to the military .

p.s. young men such as this one should serve two mandatory years in the armed forces. Make a man out of him, or at least toughen him up a little.
