Question #4468: Gov. Huckabee: would you support a law that would require states to give the same tuition breaks to illegal immigrants and children of military members?

Ashley from San Antonio, Texas

(CNN) - Ashley from San Antonio, Texas asks: Gov. Huckabee, you gave illegal aliens a discount for college in Arkansas by allowing them to pay lower in-state tuition rate. However, we have thousands of military members currently serving our country in Iraq with children at home. If these children chose to move to Arkansas to attend college they would have pay three times the tuition rate that illegal aliens pay. Would you support a federal law which would require any states that give tuition breaks to illegal aliens to give the same rate to the children of our military members?

What did you think about the candidates' response to the question? What would you have asked? I thought that Huckabee had a great answer. The details of the proposed bill would have helped educate a deserving youth but would have also had requirements that would help move an illegal alien towards citizenship. That's exactly what we should strive for as a country.
