Clinton won a big union endorsement Thursday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton was endorsed by the Amalgamated Transit Union Thursday.

The ATU represents 180,000 bus drivers, light rail operators, maintenance workers and other transit employees in 46 states.

In a written statement, the ATU said it would work to educate its members about the New York senator's campaign and "mobilize its U.S. members and their families in the early primary states in support of her nomination."

I'm so sick and tired of reading whenever Clinton is endorsed even by the slightest roadrunner and Obama's endorsements never get trumpted equally. Boo CNN. Unfair!!!

Tex-ray Vision,Houston,Texas   December 1st, 2007 1:07 pm ET

Ike from VA is right. Republicans have rooted for Obama from the beginning, hoping to dislodge support from Hillary. They hope folks will forget Hillary's public service,in favor of promises of "hope" and "new politics." Some folks admit Obama has virtually no track record, and was even absent on a key Iran policy vote, because he was ourt campaigning. The Democratic Party will need a lot more than a big smile, blind ambition and hypocrisy to take back the White House. The GOP knows Hillary is the answer, and they're shaking in their boots.

Robert, Charlotte, North Carolina   November 30th, 2007 7:24 pm ET

This is a great endorsement. In spite of what the media claims, real middle class America is going for Clinton. Her plans and policies are the most beneficial to those who need it most-the hard working middle class. To the nay sayers, dont be so hateful. Hillary has the best chance of defeating the republicans and I agree that its time for the Democrats to stop playing games and rally around the one true candidate who can win. Obamas distortion on health care and his shady tactics will backfire, real people know a real con when they see it. Hillary will win and America will be better off.

steve in SC   November 30th, 2007 10:33 am ET

All this is cool, just make sure ALL union members get to make their own choice!

Mike   November 30th, 2007 10:20 am ET

Dan in TX,

you must be so busy and posting everywhere. Unfortunetely, your posting is so shallow because you don't do your homework. Do you have a job or you are paid to post here for Obama ? They should hire a better qualified person to do the job. Don't loose yourself for the things you don't fully know. Get real, Obama is not the candidate we need, he is a good guy, but we need a leader, especially in our country's situation now. Don't be personal, have a good day.

CNN did not do anything wrong. CNN should not apologize for anything. Anyone in this country has the right to spweak. I wonder why if someone praise Obama you guys don't say a thing. Anyone praise Hillary you guys are mad. At least CNN give every candidate chance to talk, SMNBC doesn't.

"IOWA LOVES CLINTON IN 2008" I love it.
Dan, TX, "she may be the nominee" that's only we need right now, later,it will be a piece of cake at General Election, Hillary will march all the way to White House, because there's no Presidential materials in GOP candidates. Voters are smarter than them.

JGD New Hampshire   November 29th, 2007 9:46 pm ET

Obams will not get endorsements like Hillary..he is not expierenced like the clintons he's to young already lying to his supporters over the health care issue especially the doctors nurses and health pros in Iowa they sent him letters...about it..,hes does not have a vocabulary,he drifts on debates he does not admit he once was a muslim he is one...he started a circus which is jokable,he does not like gay people at his gay bashing tour in south c.he said he will figure out the health care later, dismissed it actually what he wants because he knows
hes wrong ,That is not Presidential to me if a something really bad happen in this country he will say get it later,he has stupid remarks.he wants everything his way,and to much preaching and all about god...enough is enough of a man we do not know.and yeah there is alott of crap on him to .so he is no Saint Barrack.

they just keep on coming on board
I love the Kenndeys especially the late RFK.
Hillary's campaign today announced the endorsement of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

"Hillary Clinton has the strength and experience to bring the war in Iraq to an end and reverse the potentially devastating effects of global warming," Kennedy said. "I watched proudly as Hillary won over New Yorkers across the state in her race for the Senate seat my father once held. Since then, she's been reelected in a landslide victory and proven that she is ready to lead this nation from her first day in office. Hillary will inspire the real change America needs."
GO HIllary Hillary Hillary GO !!!!!put these men in the wrong Basket she is the frontrunner Forward on the court.

HILLARY LOVER NY NY   November 29th, 2007 8:54 pm ET

I don't seem to understand why Obama supporters believe if he wins Iowa and New Hampshire he will win the nomination. This proves to painfully not true for a lot of former candidates. That's point number one. Point number two is Hillary is racking up endorsements not because people want a winner, but because she is qualified. Alot of people that comment negatively about her have no reason other than something personal not to like her. She is a skilled politician someone who knows how Washington works and someone who has the stomach to get things done. I wonder when Obama supporters will stop drinking the fairy juice and realize that we are not in a magical Eutopia. Politics is dirty it's nasty and we need someone who is capable of surviving in that type of environment.

Chris, Middletown, CT   November 29th, 2007 8:29 pm ET

What is that type of government that pays all the workers the same salary..regardless of the effort they put forth...and they offer them sub-par government health insurance....wait...I remember...communism....and what is Hillarys socialist health program...and support for unions...yeah....thats a step in the wrong direction...not one we are willing to take

MarkieBee   November 29th, 2007 7:38 pm ET

Big unions are part of the Democratic insiders, the machine, if you will. I had no doubt that they would go with the safe pick and pick Hillary. Only the SEIU had the guts to actually listen to their members and decided that they would let individual locals make their own endorsements. Obama has received his fair share of them too. There's gonna be a lot of shocked people in the Hillary camp come Jan. 3. I hope the ATU will throw its support behind Obama...and by the way folks, with Hillary's BOD post at WalMart in mind, has she ever walked a picket line like Edwards and Obama have? Didn't think so. She voted for NAFTA and the Iraq War that has sent so many National Guard/union workers to Iraq to fight a war of choice. So remind me again why Hillary is a good choice for union workers?

judith Gomes. Irvine CA   November 29th, 2007 6:41 pm ET

A union endorsement dosent make here more or less loved by the rest of the nation. If Clinton wins, they expect some form of payback.

ss,chicago,Illinois   November 29th, 2007 6:08 pm ET

Hillary is the best that is why she is endorsed by all and that is why she will win.

aj huntington ny   November 29th, 2007 6:06 pm ET

wasn't Hillary against the unions when she was on the WalMart BOD? Im not sayin' Im just sayin'

Erik, Chicago, IL   November 29th, 2007 4:26 pm ET

Of course a union comprised of bus drivers, light rail operators, and maintenance workers are for the SOCIALIST Hillary...they're used to that type of structure because that's what unions are.

I was a Teamster years ago and used to complain about my union dues going to all the democrat candidates and their left wing causes.

Hillary promises that the government will take care of all their needs...but don't these people understand that their taxes are going to increase substantially?

IOWA LOVES CLINTON IN 2008   November 29th, 2007 4:13 pm ET

Clinton will win the nomination and the Presidency in 2008!

No other candidate comes close to what this great country needs than Hillary.
She has won our total support...

CLINTON WILL WIN IOWA,

Dan, TX   November 29th, 2007 3:46 pm ET

A union endorsement is good. If Clinton wins, they expect payback from the Clinton machine. No other candidate can or will be able to guarantee a payoff.

On the other hand the union members will vote for who they think is best for the country. We are seeing now that although Hillary is loved but a good fraction of democrats, she is not loved by a good fraction of independently minded voters. That's why it is a toss up when polls of Hillary vs. Republicans are taken. This is while Obama or Edwards, or a generic unnamed democrat handily beats any republican.

Sorry, but Hillary is not going to be president. She may be the nominee, but she won't be president. That's obvious to everyone except a Clinton supporter or a very optimistic democrat.

Henry Miller, Cary, NC   November 29th, 2007 3:32 pm ET

It baffles me why anyone who works for a living–and union members more or less by definition do–and consequently pays an obscene percentage of their income in taxes, would support Hillary. This is the woman who quite bluntly stated that the US can't afford what, given her own way, she'd to (not for) the country–and that doesn't mean she isn't going to try anyway.

A vote for Hillary is a vote for more taxes–and not just taxes on "the rich." People with greater incomes aren't any dumber than anyone else, and they're already being taxed to the max. The higher government attempts to raise their taxes, the more they'll take action to protect themselves–including packing up and leaving the country, taking their money, and the jobs they create, with them. This happened seventy-five years ago when Roosevelt was elected–nothing says it can't happen again.

"There's no such thing as a free lunch." If you're not paying for it, someone else is. And when that someone else gets tired of buying everyone else's lunch and leaves, you're going to get stuck with the bill.

To all true democrats, in Hillary Clinton we have a realistic hope to reclaim the White House next year. Republicans would like to face Obama in the general election, and that is why they are doing all they can to make certain that Hillary is not nominated. I predict today that Hillary will defeat any republican challenger in 08. They all know it and that is why they are afraid to run against her. GO HILLARY, GO. We are behind you all the way.

You hit it right on. Democrats it is time to close ranks and unite around our Canidate. The right wing nut jobs in this country want to destroy the New Deal and give citizens no choices related to their own privacy.
Lord help us if a Repub wins in 08.

dmw, roeland park, ks   November 29th, 2007 3:08 pm ET

To Lee from Pa; Hillary will make a Commander in Chief of the military. She sits on the committee. Your comment implies that a woman can not be a good Commander in Chief. GET OVER IT!

I also get so tired of people complaining that Hillary did not leave Bill when he cheated on her. I find this admirable because there is too much divorce in America. This is a sign that she can offer forgiveness and that her love for him is unconditional. I wish more married couples would learn to forgive when their spouse has done something morally wrong. This shows strong comittment on her part that she does not just cut and run when the going get bad.

I wish people would stop and really look at Hillary for all of the public service she has performed over the years.

She is a good person. And she has weaknesses like the rest of us. She is only human and it is unfair for anyone to put her down.

Take the log out of your own eye before you attempt to take the splinter out of another's eye.

Try to be fair and not so hateful. That is a major problem with America; every one feels they know best and are a perfect human being, which is an untruth.

Chad M. Morton, Baltimore, Md   November 29th, 2007 3:07 pm ET

Let's be honest this is no showdown between two Presidents that were not aware of War on the Horizon. This is a show-down of who sees war as a game, like Bush and a more then competent women President who uses her brain and weighs the consequences of such a large scale endeavor. Again, no contest. She wins hands down.

Another real endorsement from real hard working people of America. Good for senator Clinton. It is important to point out that these hard working American people trust Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to take care of them unlike a super rich talk show host who has enough money to give free gifts.

Interesting CNN. Obama gets Oprah to campaign for him as reported by CNN. CNN reports in the course of 3 days that Hillary gets endorsed by Barbara Streisand, New Hampshire Governor's wife, John F. Kennedy's kid, and ATU.

I guess the other Democratic candidates are getting little or no endorsements, huh , CNN?!

The only endorsement that was worth posting should have been the ATU. That's CNN for you fair and unbiased reporting. Sheesshh!

Surrealist, Fort Myers, FL   November 29th, 2007 2:32 pm ET

To Lee:
The people who need a change most are the "average" working adults in this nation. They are exploited–then cast aside for cheap foreign labor. As far as Commander-In-Chief goes: she stands head and shoulders over all Dem candidates–and with the exception of McCain–has as good a record on the security of our nation as any other. She has proven–if she has evidence (a-la weapons of mass destruction in Iraq) of a threat against the U.S. she will act (even if unpopular with her party). And even if she were absent 30% of the time–she'd be better than the current Commander-In-Chief.

Eric, NY, NY   November 29th, 2007 2:28 pm ET

It will be interesting to see how the Obama and Edwards supporters spin this. They have had a habit of downplaying Hillary endorsements and up playing their own.

CNN can you put Obama endorsements too if you are fair enough! Obama received endorsement from university of Newhempshire. Or is this CLInton News Network.
