Former President Clinton on the campaign trail with his wife earlier this year.

DES MOINES, Iowa (CNN) – President and Senator Clinton attended a dinner at Azalea's restaurant in Des Moines Saturday night, following the Iowa Brown and Black forum.

The couple could be seen chatting with guests including Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Following the event, Mrs. Clinton walked downstairs and shook hands and chatted with the gathered press corps. A few minutes later President Clinton grabbed her hand and pulled her back saying he had to get her home.

The President flew back to their home in New York, and Mrs. Clinton was expected to remain in Iowa overnight ahead of events there Sunday.

Am I missing someone?

Actually Joe, you are.

Mitt Romney and his wife have been FAITHFUL to each other for almost 40 years and even with Hillary's "secret police" digging, they will find NO skeletons in his closet.

Can she and hubby say the same?

Joe, Boston, MA   December 3rd, 2007 3:39 pm ET

Wow, the Clintons just can't win with some of you. First you complain about Bill doing what he did…yes it was wrong. Now you complain that they stayed together? She did the Christian thing and forgave her husband. Isn't that what you freaky christian rights preach?

At least they worked things out and she forgave him. Look at most of the Republican candidates..Guiliani married 3 times and told his second wife that he was dumping her at a press conference without informing her in private first (yes it's true), McCain married 2 times, Thompson married 2 times. Am I missing someone?

And let's not forget former house speaker Gingrich who told his dying first wife in the hospital that he was divorcing her (she later died of cancer) and at this time he was also cheating on her. I mention him because he was one of the first to have Clinton impeached. How hypocrital.

CLINTON 2008 THE SMART VOTE   December 3rd, 2007 2:35 am ET

Another example of the continued dishonestly and manipulation by Obama.
Barack Obama is drawing Hugh skepticism RECRUITING NON-IOWANS TO THE IOWAN caucus. NO OTHER CANDIDATES are systematically trying to manipulate the Iowa caucuses like Obama
“Barack Obama” brochure “If you are not from Iowa, you can come back for the Iowa caucus and caucus in your neighborhood. The brochure gives instructions about where to call or go online for information about where to caucus”

David Yepsen of the Des Moines Register, the state’s leading political commentator, wrote “The Illinois Caucus” that the effort to increase participation by out-of-staters “risks offending long-time Iowa residents.” And he’s correct! “Given that students in Iowa’s colleges and universities are from Obama’s neighboring home state of Illinois, the effort could net him thousands of additional votes on caucus night,” Yespen wrote. The Iowa caucus ought to be for Iowans. NO OTHER POLITICAN Democrat or Republican is sending bogus literature recruiting out-of-state voters to manipulate IOWA Caucuses,
Chris Dodd for President Iowa State Director Julie Andreeff Jensen said in a statement on Saturday:

“I was deeply disappointed to read today about the Obama campaign's attempt to recruit thousands of out-of-state residents to come to Iowa for the caucuses. … ‘New Politics’ shouldn't be about scheming to evade either the spirit or the letter of the rules that guide the process. That may be the way politics is played in Chicago, but not in Iowa."
As an IOWAN who was on the fence between Sen Clinton and obama, this seals my vote for CLINTON! This guy is showing he will cheat, lie and steal to win; we already have that in a President. CLINTON IS THE TRUE CHANGE IN 2008

Tired of corruption LV,
Daniel, Idaho, you guys need to read Hillary's LIVING HISTORY, you will never understand The Clintons if you don't read her book. Your comment is just like Obama's inept talk.

Bill was probably looking for same names and numbers next time he visits LA.

Tom Dedham, Mass   December 2nd, 2007 4:24 pm ET

And I think afterwoods she may have taken a "Tums" and gone to the bathroom.

Why the bleep is this a story, that's right, we need more "who cares fluff pieces" on these two as she IS LOSING in Iowa.

Why don't you post a SINGLE BLOG with that story?

Jim, Lawrenceville GA   December 2nd, 2007 4:21 pm ET

You GOP's will complain no matter what the Clinton do. Hillary forgave Bill as is the right thing to do. But you still compain about their relationship. It took a strong woman to do what Hillary did. I though the bible said to forgive. You Republicans are hypocrits.

Mike, Westport, CT   December 2nd, 2007 4:09 pm ET

If "Cheaters like to hang out with cheaters." Old Bill should be great buddies with old Rudy. Bill Clinton is a cheater but his wife is not. Giuliani cannot say the same thing. Betwen Giulianni and his wife, there are six marriages.

Azalea Restaurant is taking the hit on this. They should also get some publicity.

By the way, they do have a nice wine list. They also have a good selection of Beer for the blue collar American.

Maybe the food was the reason they went to Azalea!

I've been following politics for years and the comments the public gives in response always make me tremendously happy for one thing: thank God you're not running. If you criticized your star athletes for their indescretions as much as you do Bill Clinton, our children would have a very different view of them. PERHAPS we wouldn't have people like A-ROD making 252 mill.

michael/daniel quit ganging up on jen, "YOU BULLIES" There a lovely and supportive couple ? don't make me throw up Jen

Hey Jen from Des Moines, couple of reminders. If, memory serves, the Obamas and the Edwards have school age children(younger than 18), Mrs. Edwards is still fighting cancer. If I was the spouse of a candidate, I sure wouldn't want to spend months away from home for all the political BS. I guess the spouses having lives and family at home to take care of is a bad thing? Wow, people who have lives that don't revolve around Washington..there's a radical idea.

Daniel Schmidt Boise, Idaho   December 2nd, 2007 12:39 pm ET

Jen from des moines iowa.

if Bill wasn't a benefit for her, he wouldn't be around he would have been tossed aside like all the other people that have been tossed aside when the Clinton's are through with them (Peter Paul, Stan Lee). If you notice they are seen more apart in public then together. I wonder why.

Tired of Corruption LV   December 2nd, 2007 12:31 pm ET

Showing the Clintons as a loving couple makes my stomach roll. He's there paying penance for all the public sexual affairs he put her through.

CNN, you and the Clintons must really be worried for you to have to dig up this months-old article whose only worth is putting the Clinton face in front of the public as often as possible.

Chris, Middletown, CT   December 2nd, 2007 11:05 am ET

Wow…the Clinton News Network with hard hitting (albeit Clinton campaign written) news….one might ask why the latino pandering has started in front of a victory…but I guess she doesn't have much faith in the intelligence level of the Democratic party - I still hope they are smart enough not to polarize the country with a socialist (yes…look up Saul Alinsky….virtually every one of her 800 Billion in entitlist proposals comes directly from him…btw…he was a Marxist)

Brian, Syracuse NY   December 2nd, 2007 10:55 am ET

I never new the Clintons ate like real people! Thanks CNN!

Walt, Belton, TX   December 2nd, 2007 9:40 am ET

I guess they both had their important dates to get back to………….

Jen, des moines, iowa   December 2nd, 2007 9:37 am ET

The clintons are a lovely and supporting couple.

Where is the spouse of obama, edwards, biden, richardson, etc.? Are they a liability, not to be shown around or they just do not care?

Dave, Evergreen CO   December 2nd, 2007 9:32 am ET

CNN, are you kidding me with this?

JB Boston MA   December 2nd, 2007 9:29 am ET

Cheaters like to hang out with cheaters!

Bill Clinton: "Hey Tony, how did you get that fine piece, and keep it hidden from your wife"

Antonio: "Bill its all about making sure no remnants are left behind on blue dresses
