I was really hoping for Barack Obama to win the Democratic Party nomination for President. I think he would be great for America right now. I had felt this way, <i>UNTIL<i> Oprah Winfrey started her own personal P.R. campaign for who knows what. I have never been drawn to her because she seems to be somewhat of an egomaniac (in my opinion). I think she has began vigorously campaigning for Obama for a number of reasons, all of which can be traced to her ENORMOUS EGO. First off, her ego has a need to take credit if Barack Obama is elected President. Second, and most important, I think she has very big political aspirations for the future. She has done almost everything else. Why wouldn't President Winfrey be one of her future goals? Athough politicaly opposite, I liken her personality to George Bush's in many ways. I think Oprah is hurting Obama's campaign not helping it. Why would anyone take her advise on who to vote for? I think the voting public puts way too much credence in TV and film personalitie's political oppionions. THINK FOR <i>YOURSELVES<i> VOTERS. IT'S WHAT THAT THING SITTING ON YOUR SHOULDERS IS SUPPOSED TO BE USED FOR!

I'll tell you why African Americans are not supporting Obama, especially African American Females because we are intelligent enough to know that we cannot vote for someone just because he is black, if he is not speaking on the issues that are of importance to us then he will not get the support and even more logical, if you pay attention to the way that the republican party is hyping Obama, they know that he is their only chance to regain the white house they know that there is no way in hell when those curtains are drawn and those ballots sumbitted the reds state will put an African American in the White House, I don't care what they say on the outside it will not happen as far as I am concerned a vote for Obama is a vote for four more years of Republican politics, mark my words.Just think about this for two years in a row the democrats could not win the white house in the south because of dirty politics and illegal voting activities, picture what would happen in Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, etc. with Obama on the tickets if you think they cheated in the last two elections you haven't seen anything yet. Reality is not nice but it is what it is.

I'd go to the ends of the earth to see Bill Clinton again (have seen/met him twice so far) but wouldn't walk two steps to see Oprah!!! I cannot even stand to look at her. She makes me sick to my stomach!!! She is so racist; it is obvious WHY she is endorsing Obama - one reason only!!

I don't get why the African-Americans are not supporting a man who is black, very intelligent, worked his way up in politics, knows the in and outs and very capable of being president. Is it that he is to white? Hillary is white! Would some African-American please tell me why?

I am African American and I am not supporting Obama at this time because he is not the best candidate we have ..and surprise , surprise I am voting for Hillary, but if she somehow is out of the picture Obama is not even my second choice. Obama had a good path to the WH and I for one think he blew it by his impatience and arrogance.

There are a lot of very scared Hillary supporters out there! Why would the Democratic Party not select in Obama the spring of its party, rather than go with the autumn in Clinton? If Clinton is the winner in the primary run there will be a Republican victor in the general election of 2008. I think the electorate will surmise this, however.

This country will do well with Hillary and Hilary will do well for this country.
I cannot believe the people who get their marching orders from "HATE" TV and "HATE" radio, it seems that most of them have loss the ability to think for themselves, as you can see from some of the comments which mirror the comments on hate TV and hate radio – check the newspaper comment sections. If they were really concern about where Hillary would take this country they would really be expressing their utter discuss about where the Bush administration has already taken it - which is down - way way down ! surplus long gone, thousands of lives loss for a completely unnecessary war, 1 trillion and counting taken from our national treasury – funds that our children and their children will need to pay for, 50 billion paid to insurgents to stop attacking our troops – al least for now or until we stop paying them again, 12 billion in 100 dollar bills they claim is just missing - the list of unbelievable stuff just goes on and on and with no lessons learned from the past ; the times when we gave weapons and billions to the Taliban who were fighting the Russians at that time as well as the northern alliance ( now the current leadership of Afghanistan ) not to mention all the weapons and billions more dollars we gave Sodom Hussein during the Iraq - Iran wars – this all after the horrific gassing this administration likes to point out and those plane load of weapons Ollie gave to the Iranians during the U.S. led embargo ? – Why and what for? Were any of those weapons sent to the insurgents in this Iraq war ?. Now days our economy is in shambles, we are on the verge of a recession, this administration has been wrong about so many things that our credibility and respect around the world has been badly soiled, as Scott McCulin said he lad to lend the bush administration some credibility, Tony Snow was kind with his “somewhat of an embarrassment” remark – so Do your homework folks - then decide – because one more Bush like neo-con like administration could well do us in! Our founding fathers prevail over the most powerful military on earth because bullets will never be a substitute for the will of the people – a well informed people ! Neo-cons should return to the toy soldiers of the youth and leave the real soldiers to leaders like Hillary who will make decisions as their commander and chief worthy of the service and their sacrifices !

I have not yet heard how Hillary or any politicains will help make all responsible Americans wealthier?

Would it not be easier to let every responsible American have a TAX FREE saving and retirement account that once money was placed therein, it would remain tax free forever?

We could shut dowm most of these wasteful agencies that suck money out of the economy.

On death, instead of paying an inheritance USE tax, the wealth would be given to the family of the deceased and put into their tax free accounts.

The true measure of a wealthy nation is not how well funded the handout scams are, but how wealthy the people are in general and NOT need handouts.

Lianette, your comment is so true, I agree with you. I studied since Hillary announced to run, Obama is naive, inexperienced and sausy liar, Hillary is brilliant, experienced, strong and care about women, children and Americans, the most qualified candidate among 17 candidates, our Country needs Hillary, she will be a stronger and powerful leader than any other male candidates also Bill Clinton's experience will help America from the world.

I believe either Hillary or Obama will make a Great President. I do feel sorry they will have such troubles left from the Bush administration and I hope they have the ability and knowledge to turn this country around. I don’t like the political wrangling that is necessary to get elected such as we are seeing with the Oprah & Bill show but if that is what we need to bury the NeoCon movement then so be it!

Obama is a great man. I feel that the US is in such bad shape; Mrs. Clinton should be the President and Mr.Obama should be the Vice President. I feel that both of their smart brains together will place the US back on top. They will gradually stop the war, correct the economy, Real Estate and job markets! I feel that Mrs. Clinton will receive 2 terms and Mr. Obama will receive 2 terms. This will allow the Democrats 4 terms, which means the US will return back to the # 1 Country!

Mrs. Clinton, President and Mr. Obama, Vice President would make a great team! CA is supporting this team! I do not want our country to be divided and the Republicans win in 2008.

Also, I want Oprah to be careful. The Republicans will re-start bad PR against her and Gale, which will impact her ratings as well as the book club. She is such a great women and we want to maintain her status!

I'm glad to see that other people picked up on this. George Stephanopoulos (sp?) commented that Clinton campaign officials told him that Bill was being sent to SC as a counterweight to Oprah's celebrity. The problem with Bill is that he's no longer running things and he can't control the message. His lies are becoming more apparent because of the disparities between his words and the campaign's words. And no, I'm not a Republican. Bill Clinton was my favorite politician up until this campaign. Now, seeing the facility with which he distorts the truth, I can't support Hillary or Bill.

Before Manus, Latin for hand, forgets,Georgia, Karl Rove did not steal unclassified National Security documents. Clinton's convicted adviser did. Obama is the spelling, not "Obamah". Souless George! Get it right. Judgement is the stuff that makes a true leader. One can have experience at failing at ones big Health Care Program. Where in the world does one get a second chance to play with peoples' lives? You cannot bring all dead in Iraq back with a reverse-senate-vote not even through teleportation. Hope is not just word. Hope is of subtance if you have the judgement execute it. Hope!!! Judgement!!!

90 percent of these people who went to the Oprah and Obama rally went to see Oprah

What we need is someone with ties to many many world leaders and Hillary is that candidate. She has great leadership skills and the Clintons - yes Clintons - will bring this country back to its feet as we get the world leaders back with the U.S. as the Bush administartion has turned them against us.

I travel often to many countries and everytime these citizens hear I am from the U.S. - the first thing they say is - ohhh that Bush! we hate him! well - Clinton will be loved and we need her.

GO HILLARY GO HILLARY!

I rely think the American people are the cause of their own problem, imagin Canada and European country having outstanding health insurance for their citizens and PM residents, yet we find it hard to elect officials who have always being advocate for such actions instead some ignorant will rather have people who we all know are runing on race level or who would rather say they have health coverage plan bcos senator Hill have a plan.

Senator Obama has been making news since he was in the state senate in Iowa. He is an amazing man, and while he hasn't been in the U.S. Senate for that long, he has more years in elected office than Hillary, and he has exactly the kind of experience we need in a president. He is truly a man of substance and character. With Obama, what you see is what you get. with Hillary, what you get is what the corporations that own her tell her to say or do. I enjoyed the economic times under the Clinton administration, but Hillary is not Bill. Bill will not be in all the cabinet meetings, will not be with her 24/7, and if you think she'll do everything he says, you're crazy. She is a strong bullheaded woman who will make her own decisions. She is not Bill.

Food for thought- what if inspite of all Oprah went out to support another "black man". Hillary wins nomination and becomes president. How would this woman "oprah" sit and do show about most powerful women in america. It is shameful to see this woman would support any black person without giving any thought---lets see...imfamous plastic sugreon who is responisble for kanya west mother, MJ, her african school where kids were abused now Obama. Oprah's choices are poor. I don't watch her show because I find Ellen more entertaining.

Voting4Change, your blog is simply outstanding. It's time that the bloggers and biggots in our country realize that they are reinforcing bigotry and prejudice by the words they spread. Those who profess to be very Christian strike the biggest discord with me. They never stop to reason that Jesus was born in the middle East. Bibles with him looking like he is from European descent are not historically accurate. Those who are so anti Obama are ignorant as to what he really stands for. He is a candidate that rarely comes along.

Obama you have my vote. Clinton has too much baggage and corruption behind her. I am not really an Oprah follower, but if she wants to support a good solid candidate such as Obama, then "you go girl". I don't easily sway due to what others say and do, I research and watch to see what each candidate represents. So as far as star power, stand up for what each of you believe in and stop worrying about Oprah or Chuck or anyone else except your own good judgement.

It's Hillary Clinton or nothing for me. I really don't care at this point who is doing what and who is schmoozing where. If you are dumb enough to base your vote on who is endorsing who you really should rethink being a registered voter. Let's look at the issues people and get real.

I cannot figure out why Bill Clinton is called the "First Black President."
The so called "first black president" could not find one black person for the supreme court to be a contrast to Clarence Thomas.
I wonder why Bill Clinton could not find any minority to place on the supreme court. I wonder.

I feel Opera as celebrity is making mistake and will become target by conservatives more than Dems. Also Opera has made serious mistakes recent years in her involvement in recommending author, a plastic surgeon and her school with a girl being molested (she apologies but don’t forget she is responsible).

No celebrity is done well by supporting some one else rather if they strongly feed do better than they should jump into the ring like California Governor Arnold!

I am so tired of celebrates such as Oprah trying to play the politician. Has she ever been in politics. Does she have a degree in political science?I think she is just trying to do what she can to get a black man in office. She should stick to her show and charity or what ever she does to deserve her millions and stay out of the political areana. I used to like to watch her show but I think she is getting to big for her britches and I won't be watching her anymore.

It's too bad that the media in general (not just CNN exclusively, mind you) Have whittled the candidates down to three on both the Republican and Democratic sides of the aisle. Part of the reason you don't hear about the campaigns of Dodd, Biden, or Richardson is that the media appears to have focused on a select few and perpetuated those candidates' name recognition to the average person. You would have to go out of your way to learn about other candidates because a mainstream outlet doesn't volunteer the info readily. There are other options available for those who dislike Clinton, Obama, and Edwards. Other candidates DO have political experience, and could make a surge to the so called top tier if enough people got behind them (look at Huckabee's ride to the forefront in Iowa). Just look around!

Now Hillary is a good gal: She really loves America. But there's a reason Oprah isn't throwing money at her.

Has Oprah ever given money to a politician before? Even if she has - she has never given enough to warrant this kind of attention. He isn't the first black democrat to run for president, so Oprah obviously believes in this guy as a person, not as a fellow African-American. But why Obama? Read his book. Listen to one of his speeches. Go to the CNN website and learn about his picture of a better America. The biggest complaints I've heard about him are that 1.) He's inexperienced, 2.) He's a "liar" and 3.) As I overheard in a restaurant I work at: He's a N****R.

I think compared to Clinton scandals, ties to big money, and special interest groups, inexperience is an asset. On his inexperience alone I would vote for him and enjoy a clean White House. If I'm not mistaken - prior to Oprah's money - more than half of his funds came from small, private donations. People like you and me. It's America (not the media or big corporations) that I urging him on. And it's the one-on-one relationship he develops with the voters that will ultimately let him win.

When I read people describe him as shady, or as an illusion, or as just another dishonest politician, I want to scream. He's been honest about drug use during his younger days and - unlike B. Clinton - he's admitted to inhaling.

Obama is picking up steam - and he's not going to simply "go away". Come January 3rd, 2008, reality will begin sink in to all the Hillary supporters: It's been a long fight towards defeat.

If any of you are undecided: I strongly urge you to take a good long look at Sen. Obama, and consider a vote for him.

The resentfully envious, CLOSET-RACIST Liberals, Rightwing Nutcases, et. al need to put an end to the bigotry that has reared it's ugly head around Oprah's foray into politics during this cycle.

The haters are just dismayed that Oprah has decided to through her support behind someone that SHE believes can make substantive and fundamental change to our government, which most people in America believe needs a real overhaul. The country needs to heal and the status quo just won't do. We've seen what that has produced...

It's PATHETIC that folks in this great land of opportunity, THE Unites States of America, still can't stand to see certain people get a fair and honest hearing without looking to first cast aspersions or resort to the "race card."

Many of these same folks spewing much of this vitriol would be the first ones to say "I'm not racist, I have black friends etc., etc. I'm just making a point." WHATEVER! For some reason the truth just has a way to make some folks get extremely defensive.

Let Oprah endorse the person she wants. Chuck Norris is supporting Huck, Curt Schilling is supporting McCain, Streisand's on board with Clinton, etc.

The problem here is that the ICON of daytime television happens to be a trusted, and admired woman of color that transcends race. Certain people just HATE the fact that she's chosen to support someone that just happens to be a very educated, selfless, inspiring person of color as well.

Some people in America wonder why race is still an issue...look no further than the blogoshpere where people can reveal their true colors without fear of reprisal. This is truly SAD and PATHETIC!

Wake up people and let's move to heal our country's divide and restore our position in the global community.

Enjoy the theater of her trying to come up with an answer to please every "soccer mom in America" - in South Carolina?!?!

Everything Obama promises has no past or present proof that he ever accomplished any. While Guliani and Romney have governed States/Super Cities, Obama's only project has been a neighborhood community in Chicago.

Clinton is focssing on issues that matter to for America: mortgage crisis, national security, jobs, healthcare, education, etc. Excellent. And he states the issues with confidence wearing her own skirt unlike Obama who is hiding under Oprah's skirt. Talking issues that matter together with her proven trail of experience are the reasons Hillary will be elected President of the United States. Hillary cares more about America than simply winning. Obama is so desparate that he has esorted to a talkative Talkshow host who has not given anything significant to America. Instead of reconcilling families, Oprah and her cousin Phill have encouraged spouses to split. Oprah is the reason we have many broken divorved families with unhappy children. It will be a foolish decision for anyone to vote for Obama just because he is a friend to Oprah.

Democrats will regret the next 4 years if they elect Obama to stand against Guliani or Romney. These 2 Republicans have resumes that only Clinton's and all other Democratic candidates except Obama's can withstand. Guiliani and Romney will will hit Obama with a type of experience that he will not resist.

Some Democrats simply want to see Obama beat Clinton for the wrong reasons. But let them wait for an Obama slap by Guliani or Romney. Republican know they can get back the Whitehouse if any of the 2 candidates stood against Obama because Obama has nothing to show for experience which will be the cornerstone of Republican assault. Then Democrats will be biting their fingers having first thought the next Prez would be Democrat by hook or crook after the Bush debacles.

Who would vote for Obama when he won't even put his hand over his heart during the national anthem? He wasn't even paying attention during the anthem. A huge disrespect to the American people! And SHAME on you Oprah. Why don't you use your power and fame to help more than you do. You have billions yet give away a very small percentage of that to help the poor people in America! What you give would be like a medium income family giving away a dollar. At least Bill and Hillary know what the everyday less fortunate people need.

The media stinks! Why the hell is it every time there is an Obama event the media must drum up the Hillary factor and position it a 'duel', a 'battle'? This is so disgusting! Obama's doing his thing (at least trying to) but Hillary sure can't do hers without having heart attacks over what Obama's doing. Goodness gracious, she's gotta drag Bill out, maybe Bill just wanted to chill this weekend, like Hillary's mother and Chelsea, and here she comes dragging them through Iowa because she's nervous, wants to top whatever Obama's doing. Why in the world anyone would vote for someone like this is beyond me! She's no leader, she's a follower. As feisty as Bill Clinton is however he just might find himself drifting into the Oprah/Obama rally!!!!

I agree and perhaps my post will be deleted!

CNN does not post decent comments re political events, but brings all kind of gossips and posts ridiculing Hillary and/or Bill Clinton. Also, not enough coverage of other candidates. This political ticker has become an Oprah-type blog.
