Listen to Tuesday's Race to '08 audio podcast.

(CNN) — Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee has gone from being a virtual unknown to being in a virtual tie with Rudy Giuliani in recent poll results

Despite Huckabee's surge to the front of the GOP pack, a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Tuesday shows that Huckabee would lose in a head-to-head match up with Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, or John Edwards.

In today's Race to '08 audio podcast, CNN Political Editor Mark Preston chats with CNN Radio's John Lisk about Tuesday's poll results, former senator John Edwards, and the upcoming Iowa caucuses.

THIS GUY NEVER TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING…MOVE ON! VOTE FOR ANYONE ELSE! http://www.obamatruth.org/
"Barack Obama continues his hard-edged, negative campaign - against his own staff. Passing blame down to anonymous staff ranks has become something of a tic for Obama. Obama pointed the finger at unidentified campaign schedulers when he had to address a New Hampshire firefighters union by telephone, instead of meeting with them in person. Obama told the gathering. "My staff had scheduled things and “they” couldn't wiggle out if it. And after media attention turned to the "Hillary Clinton Obama's campaign was producing bogus research memos/statements about Clinton's such as lies about having ties to the Indian-American community, Obama called the "unnecessarily caustic" document a "dumb mistake on our campaign's part" HE STARTED THE LIES AND NEGATIVE POLITICS…A former cocaine junkie and muslim. WE DO NOT WANT THIS GUY LEADING OUR GREAT COUNTRY; MAYBE LEAD HARPO PRODUCTIONS, SINCE HES OPRAHS DREAM…

Republicans are excited about the idea of going against Obama in the general election. They know he can't win the states of Ohio, Iowa, Florida, or Pennsylvania in the electroal college.

The Democrats are again playing there little games this time threatening the Republican base with today’s headlines “DEMS HOLD FIRE ON HUCKABEE; SEE 'EASY KILL' IN GENERAL ELECTION”, Huckabee has a “Glass Jaw” strategy.

If “Billary” is the nominee, Mike Huckabee will be her worst nightmare. Mike knows everything about the Clinton’s good old days in Arkansas…

Why would anyone now even consider oprahbama or obama winphrey? WHAT A MISTAKE, lets concentrate on the REAL candidates, the ones not running around behind oprahbama…:):)

Surprise Surprise. Duh! What's amazing, however, is how many Republicans haven't figured this out. Why the huge surge of support for a candidate that has no chance in the general election? Hillary will wipe the floor with Huckabee. The only candidates with a chance to beat the Democratic nominee are Romney and Giuliani.

Giuliani has instant name recognition and some decent experience to point to (albeit with some baggage). Romney has an awesome record to point to–in business, as Governor, and with the Olympics that were a mess before he stepped in.

I pray that once people look past Huckabee's smile and smooth taling (Southern accent certainly doens't hurt), that they'll examine his record. There's not much there and what is there shows he's nowhere near the "stalwart, lifelong conservative" he claims to be. He has shown real questions of judgment, has raised taxes, has sought the release of convicted rapists, and is soft on immigration.
