I'm a Republican that twice voted for Ronald Regan and will be proudly voting for Ron Paul.

The Republican Party needs to get back to supporting what the people want - not just special interests.

Yes, CNN, please (!) keep treating Dr. Paul as a fringe candidate unworthy of your so reasoned take on this race. You are only motivating average Americans to the cause of returning liberty to this country and helping him get elected.

The seeds are being sown, and will be reaped on election day. Then perhaps we will know mainstream media for what it truly is--a mouthpiece for big business and special interests in Washington.

I DON'T THINK CNN IS USING MY COMMENTS BUT I HAVE TO TRY:
TO INDEPENDENT VOTER, TN WHO IMPLIES THAT RON PAUL WANTS TO RETIRE ON HIS CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS.
IS THIS COWARD, WHO WON'T EVEN USE HIS NAME AWARE THAT RON PAUL WON'T EVEN ACCEPT THE CONGRESSIONAL PENSION, TO WHICH HE IS ENTITLED? AND HE TURNS BACK A PORTION OF HIS CONGRESSIONAL SALARY TO THE U.S. TREASURY (ON PRINCIPLE. AND WHEN DR PAUL TREATS A MEDICARE PATIENT, I THEY CAN'T AFFORD HIS FEE, HE TREATS THEM FOR FREE (WILL NOT CHARGE IT TO MEDICARE (TAXPAYERS). DR. PAUL IS IN IT TO WIN IT!! HE WILL SPEND HIS CONTRIBUTIONS WISELY AND WELL ON THE CAMPAIGN, WHICH IS SO IMPORTANT TO OUR THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN. AND THAT'S THE WAY HE WOULD MONITOR CONGRESSIONAL SPENDING, IF HE IS ELECTED TO THE WHITE HOUSE. NOW....INDEPENDENT VOTER COWARD, TN GO LIE ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE. THIS HEROIC MAN DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR DEROGATORY REMARKS.

ANOTHER INDEPENDENT VOTER, GRACE PAYTON

OH! AND ROBERT LA UNLIKE MOST
REPUBLICANS & DEMOCRATS, RON PAUL
IS A FISCAL CONSERVATIVE. HE WILL
MAKE HIS CONTRIBUTIONS COUNT BY
USING THEM WISELY. YOU WON'T SEE
HIM OVER-SPENDING. AND THAT'S THE
WAY HE WOULD RUN THE GOV'T. NO
INCOME TAX CUZ HE WOULD SHRINK THE
SIZE OF GOV'T TO CONSTITUTIONAL SIZE
AND BE THE FISCAL CONSERVATIVE HE WAS
ELECTED TO BE.

I GET TIRED OF HEARING PEOPLE SAY THAT
RON PAUL IS NOT DOING WELL IN THE POLLS
WHEN HE WON THE FOX NOISE POLL WITH
38%, SEAN HANNITY DISCOUNTED HIS OWN
POLL, WHEN ONE OF PAUL'S TALENTED
SUPPORTERS PROVED ON VIDEO, THAT IT
WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ANYONE TO VOTE
MORE THAN ONCE. (LIKE MITT ROMNEY'S
SUPPORTERS DID IN THE STRAW POLL IN
ST. PETE, FLORIDA. SEE THE ST PETE
TIMES). I HAVE A LIST OF STRAW POLLS
IN WHICH RON PAUL CAME IN FIRST PLACE.

FOR EXAMPLE: PAUL'S %
NEW HAMPSHIRE TAXPAYERS 65.3%
FREEDOM WORKS STRAW POLL 56.0%
STRAFFORD COUNTY N.H. 72.2%
WEST ALABAMA 81.2%
MANCHESTER, N.H. STRAW 65.0%
CWA NJ GOP STRAW POLL 77.0%
PORTLAND, OR STRAW POLL 67.0%
JEFFERSON COUNTY ALABAMA 57.8%
SPRINGFIELD,MO GOP CLUB 77.3%
VIRGINIA STRAW POLL 38.0%

I KNOW YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANY MORE.
SOME OF YOU ARE GLAD THAT THE MEDIA
WON'T TELL THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ABOUT
THE POLLS I JUST LISTED. BUT THERE
ARE MORE. I PROVED MY POINT.

Truth of the matter is ,,the controlled media only airs Ron Paul in limited fashion, he represents what America is supposed to be known for , Liberty, Freedom & the Constitution of the United States of America , The Mass media is owned & in association with foreign interests , including those of the CFR ,Bilderberg Group , etc , Ron Paul's rally's have drawn more people than all of the other candidates combined , in Philly he drew 5000 people+ ,,i was there , i saw something i've never seen for 1 candidate , especially one that is never seen on TV .Isn't it amazing how The IRS & Federal Reserve who stole America in 1913 or before are not of any interest in upper middle class Americans , i am shocked that this man has the guts to spill the beans on the fascist government & speaks to thousands of how he will bring America back to what it was known for . We are the most hated nation in eastern hemisphere , Islam , Arabs , Iraq,Iran , etc etc ,,all hate us , we can never mind our own business . Iran , wants to have protection & defense for their country & who are we to tell them what they can & can't have.

Why are we always involved in everyone elses business ., why do presidents disobey the constitution that they are sworn in to protect .

Ron Paul is our next George Washington & he will bring the criminals who carried out 9-11-2001 & Oklahoma City . did you know that Larry Potts of the FBI was who carried out that event , just look up Terri Nichols declaration in which he states in a 51 page document , that the FBI was the ones who carried out the attack & that the bomb that he helped Tim McVeigh make couldn't blow up a bus ,, did you see the chunk in that building???

America ., . wake up people , this is not our government , the democrats & republicans are both the same party , puppets for the bilderberg group & the skull & bones secret organization that does whatever they wish to us , & the New World Order is making their move right now on planning to take out 80% of humanity ,. We have to face up to the enemy .. LOOK UP THE 7-7-05 BOMBINGS OF LONDON , How THE MILITARY had drills of the same buses & trains being bombed at the same time the attack was taking place ,, is that not coincidence ??/ The chances of that happenening ((as it always does with these attacks ,,there's always a DRILL going on )) ,,u see ,,they have to cover why they screwed up or why they didn't act accordingly , People , i don't know what to tell you ,, go to infowars.com & listen To Alex Jones , the man who predicted 9-11 & said who they would blame & what they would do .. Our economy is falling ,,our dollar is falling & the gas prices are rising although we have more oil now than ever in the history of the world , we attacked IRAQ in 1990 because oil was being overpumped & was .84cents a gallon !! Ron Paul is the only candidate that will help save us & Bilderberg has secretly called out for removing him ,., what does that mean ??? Think of JFK & what they did to him to get in LBJ , so he would stage the Gulf of Tonkin & USS LIberty attack ,,we lost 58,000 lives after that crock of lies !!!!

There's so much evidence folks ,, i mean watch the towers fall in 9 seconds straight down ,, watch the WTC 7 bldg. fall ,,watch the BBC CLIP OF Jane Sandling reporting that it collapsed in a live broadcast with the bldg standing behind her , it's all scripted folks ,,Shwn Hannity ,.
Re: Thomas, Detroit, MI : December 17, 2007 8:48 pm

I agree, the federal government does stink. Where did I say that the current policy isn't flawed? You make it sound like it's Ron Pauls's way or the current way, which is far from the truth. I'm fully aware that we're headed for trouble and I think that the reactionary measures that some of you Ron Paul supporters would escalate those problems in the long term and would cause incredible economic havoc to a great deal of the nation. We should be backing up our money with collateral (gold, etc.) rather than devaluing the dollar. What you fail to realize is that for many years, we effectively did this without the measures that Ron Paul calls for. It would help if we didn't sell our fiscal value to China with the debt that we're in.

As for privatization and the waste in federal programs, have you noticed what we pay private companies for government contracts. Have you ever noticed what we pay them and the ridiculous markups?

Regarding this part -
"Most of the people that are currently working for the federal government would get picked up by the states, since they would raise your taxes to fund the programs that each state needs." - Did you miss the point that I was making about how the wide income differences between states and the effect that would have on programs that are currently federally funded? Do you really think that New Hampshire, New Jersey, Maryland should live in luxury because their average median household incomes for 2002-2004 were above $55K/year and West Virginia, Mississippi and Arkansas should live in relative poverty since their averages were under $35K/year? (http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/income/income04/statemhi.html) If we're going to have intelligence gathering, education, etc. all funded by states, I guess I should move across the river to get the best that America has to offer.

On Larry King Live last night, there was a "Quick Poll" asking who should the Republican nominee. Ron Paul had 66%!!!!

Larry never did announce the results, though. I wonder why? I went to the trouble of voting, and was waiting for the big reveal of the 'poll'.

What happened, Larry? Too scary for ya?

Quite a bit of cash Ron raised here...Too bad it is all going to waste. You people have wasted your hard earned money on a loser. There is no way that this guy is going to get the GOP nod....he is carrying too much baggage. His prior racist views alone will stop him; let alone the simple fact that he's a weirdo. The Dems will eat this guy alive....He has ZERO chance.

And the zombies march to the bleating call of 'Ron Paul'.

Seriously, you people funded this nut? You broke a record for an isolationist? Give me a break!

You talk about 'witnessing the revolution' and 'speaking the truth', yet none of you see what his politics will do to our country. The pull-out from NAFTA and the WTO will effectively close our trade borders. The elimination of the IRS and Federal reserve will cause a plummet in our currency that will make the current recession look like a love-tap. And Gold, as you can see by viewing the correct source material, fluctuates even more than the dollar. Putting us on the gold standard would destroy us.

Oh, and pulling every troop home? What happens when the power vacumn in the middle east causes a severe shift in radicalism? What happens to our allies, what happens to us? Predict that with your crazed leader. And what happens when we can't even fund a military? Who will defend us then, and with what?

I truly grieve for the state of the internet when such a foolish man can garner such support. If you wish to donate so much, where were you for the homeless veterans? The genocide relief of Darfur? The victims of Katrina/Rita? Or the California Wildfires? Instead, you piss your money away on a man who would give you ruin in return. You cast your pearls before a swine.

The only relief I see is that you are too few in the polls to raise him to the numbers that McCain or Obama has. And I sincerely hope that you, these people entranced by this snake-oil salesman, can see past his lies and to the core of his being.

Do not be decieved! Think, people! Lest you drive us like lemmings to the cliff. Do not let the rights I and my brothers fight for go to waste, please.

Hey do the math! Ron Paul has gotten $6 million bucks from Republicans and Independents who are sick of Bush's illegal invasion and war. Kucinich is the only Democrat who offers a similar pledge. The war is costing $12 billion a month. That's $40 a month for every single man, woman and child in the U.S.! That's $480 a year for each and every one of us...$1,920 for a family of four. Is the Iraq war worth that to you?

Ryan,
You need to wake up and smell the federal government stinks! Ask anyone that worked for the defense industry that is now in the private sector and they will either tell you there is a lot of waste and or now real work being done or they are lying to you. So yeah there would be a lot of lazy people cut from the governments budget but they will need to get a real job and do real work! How is it that a small team can develop things proposed in the x challenges but it takes the defense industry 10+ years to develop a small network of vehicles? I'm all for defense spending and development but you have to get rid of the waste! Most of the people that are currently working for the federal government would get picked up by the states, since they would raise your taxes to fund the programs that each state needs. I also think it is ironic that you think Dr. Paul's economics are flawed and you don't think the current strategy is, do you honestly think you can just print money with no consequences? In case you missed it we are headed for trouble anyways.

The truth is. . . none of his supporters menion positions, they simply hoot.

WHO HOOOOO Ron Paul!

Someone mentioned he is against abortion, THAT IS NOT TRUE. He has the same posion as Thompson. Overturn Roe v Wade and let the states decide.

I am not a supporter for several reasons. He wants to do away with the CIA and let states handle that role.

Here is my question for any Paul supporter.

How the hell is the State of Arkansas supposed to acquire intelligence?

We need the CIA. He wants to do away with it. Along with the FDA, homeland securiy. Medicaid, gone. Medicare, adios.

This is why I do not like him.

Why do YOU like him?

"<i>Sounds like a waste of $6.5 million to me (or $18 million total, as others point out) on a lost candidate. Imagine what this money could do to change the world if donated to a worthy nonprofit instead…</i>"
<b>
Lost candidate?? Ron Paul is the front runner, people like you still let OLD MEDIA tell you what to think. </b>

<b>By the way, $6.5MM given to govt would most likely build a bridge in Iraq, that we blew up 2 weeks ago. Yes, very good use of our money.</b>

OK, for the 40-50 people who made comments on here about how it's $18 million, not $16 million - Do you read the comments before posting? If you don't, why do you expect anyone else to? If you do, didn't you see the 40-50 previous posts about the same thing? I realize that there's a lag between when a comment is made and when it's approved, but comments at noon are identical to those at 4:30-5 pm. We get it, he made a lot of money. Congrats.

I wish the media could focus more on Ron Paul. He does make a lot of decent points about the failings of our government and foreign policy. I loved how he took on Rudy at the debate a few months ago about why we were attacked on 9/11. I also like a lot of his slogans, about keeping with the Constitution, not pandering to special interests, etc.

That said, there's no way I'd ever vote for him. I honestly think that if a lot of his supporters realized what would happen if we implemented all of his ideas, they'd be a little more wary of such extreme change all at once, too. I also think that most of his supporters don't realize that you don't have to be as extreme as Ron Paul to get rid of speical interest pandering, imperialism, etc. Someone commented that the 1 million federal jobs lost wouldn't happen all in one day, but how long do you think it'll take for the private sector to create 1 million new jobs? Or do you like homelessness, foreclosures, and bankruptcy? That'd do much more economic damage than the Federal Reserve is.

As for his states rights approach and mostly getting rid of most federal programs in favor of states taking over, go ahead, as long as you don't mind the big states having twice the living standards as the smaller ones. Imagine the standard of living in Connecticut or Jersey compared with South Dakota or Kentucky. It'd be like Wal-Mart competing with mom and pop stores, where everyone would leave the poorer states because the education systems would be underfunded, crime protection would be shorted, and on and on.

YOU GO RON! We're watching you! And seriously -- something must be wrong with these polls. CNN should perhaps start paying attention and actually give Doctor Paul's stories of success some front page time. Enough of Hilary and Romney!

CNN, your math skills are as poor as your reporting skills.

When is MSM going to wake up and smell the coffee? What are you media drones trying to pull anyway? Don't you realize how you, yourselves, would benefit from having Ron Paul as president? How the country would benefit? Do you even care about the people?

Maybe Ron Paul won't win - God Forbid - but Ron Paul has started something. He has awaken the people and they aren't going to take this anymore.

Sheepal, shake the wool out of your eyes and join the REVOLUTION! Take back America!

Why is this buried in the Politics section? The Clinton article has 22 comments as I type this, the Ron Paul article has 228! Yet for some reason, Hillary get s a link on the front page and Ron Paul doesn't? Shameful.

Run,Ron Run! America IS tired of being sold out with corporate stooges as president and tired of being dictated to as to which candidates should garner our attention. This entire campaigning process has been controlled by the media; just look at who gets asked the questions in the debates! and when they do throw the so-called lesser or lower tiered candidate a question, they want an answer in 30 sec. Just who decides what tier a candidate is on anyway. America needs to wake up NOW! I just hope Ron Paul decides to stick with the campaign even if he has to run as an independent....it's time for a serious change

Are we forgetting about the electoral college? Any vote for Ron Paul is going to be sent to whoever is leading in the republican primarys. Give it up and vote guiliani... The constitution explicitly keeps canidates like Ron Paul from ever becoming president.

I waited all day to see news on Ron Paul's record-breaking $6+ million dollar donations in a 24-hour period. The only thing I got was toward the end of my work day (3p.m. in Germany), and I saw Mary Snow's report on CNN. The headline read "Money for Nothing?" What a cheap shot!! CNN didn't have the decency to congratulate the supporters of Ron Paul for pulling together this tremendous feat. It makes me seriously question the motive of CNN's reporting on this, and it makes me wonder if we will soon clearly see the main-stream media become irrelevant as a reliable source of information.

Ha! If Ron Paul is a nutcase, so were our Founding Fathers.

Paul supports the Constitution. Period. I'm not sure what's nuts about that.

Typical that this huge story -- Paul's second blockbuster day of donations already this quarter -- gets buried.

CNN and the MSM drool over everything the establishment politicians do in a day. "Obama won't wear the US flag pin," "Rudy eats at a local cafe," etc.

You ever wonder why these polls don't show Ron Paul so high? Its because we have to raise $6 million to even get mentioned.

It's a fascinating story so I looked into it a little more.

<b>Two Factual Errors in Story:</b>

- Campaign has raised over $18 million this quarter, not just over $16 million as reported

-It appears that John Kerry no longer holds the current record at $5.7 million, as reported. Rather, Ron Paul's $6 million one-day draw appears to break this record making Ron Paul the holder of the record.

This article deserves more coverage! Bump it to the front page where it belongs. I'm looking right at you, CNN. Yes you. I'm looking right through the computer screen at the guy moderating this comment right now! Don't you see the support for Ron? I don't see this much support for other candidates. How many news comments are being garnered by Guiliani or Clinton? Ha.

>Ron Paul has no chance at beating the other GOP front running canidiates

Someone didn't get the memo. Ron Paul is a front running candidate and he will win.

But you're right, Ron Paul is a terrible politician, but he's a perfect example of a statesman.

You obviously know a lot about politics, I mean you support Mitt. So you're OK with being told exactly what you want to hear. For most of us, that just doesn't cut it anymore.

Go Ron!

The Romney plug at the end doesn't belong, and the swipe at Paul's low digit numbers is a sham. How about putting him on the phone polling ballots! That would help.

Sounds like a waste of $6.5 million to me (or $18 million total, as others point out) on a lost candidate. Imagine what this money could do to change the world if donated to a worthy nonprofit instead...

"I'm trying to be constructive here, so take this in the spirit it is offered.

One reason Ron Paul does not appeal to me (and most people, I think) is that his supporters come across as, well, people who wear tin foil on their heads.

And that is sad, too, because he has some interesting ideas. But the Ron Paul people scare away supporters. They don't WANT to be popular. They want to be in their own little private club. And they don't want anyone else to join.

You can't elect a President that way.

So on any blogsite they post things like RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL over and over again, and that just scares people away.

And I am sure they will flame the snot out of me here, which just goes to prove my point. How can a guy raise so much money and yet poll less than 1%?

It's his supporters. They scare me. They scare everyone. And they convey the message that he is a "fringe" candidate.

So you're saying you vote by association instead of concrete principles? That's very pathetic.

Besides, the so-called tinfoil hat crowd is minimal. We are a cross-section of America, from all walks of life, all genders, races, creeds, ethnicities, incomes, and lifestyles. I think you are making the classic mistake of unjustifiably painting us all with a broad brush. I suggest you don't worry so much about the supporters and focus on the man and his positions.

Besides, Bush had whackjob supporters too. We call them neocons. So does Hillary. We call them socialists.

Meanwhile, nutbags like Atlanta based talk-show host Kneel Boortz rant and rave about how crazy and loony Ron's followers are.

Here's a bulletin to you rightwing trashtalkers - Ron Paul is a force to be reckoned with, like it or not. Get used to it. Or come election day '08 you'll really have something to cry about.
