Bill Clinton: George H.W. Bush will help President Hillary

Bill Clinton said former president George H.W. Bush will help fix damage done to America's reputation by his son, George W. Bush.

ORANGEBURG, South Carolina (CNN) – Former President Bill Clinton said Monday that the first thing his wife Hillary will do when she reaches the White House is dispatch him and his predecessor, President George H.W. Bush, on an around-the-world mission to repair the damage done to America's reputation by the current president - Bush's son, George W. Bush.

"Well, the first thing she intends to do, because you can do this without passing a bill, the first thing she intends to do is to send me and former President Bush and a number of other people around the world to tell them that America is open for business and cooperation again," Clinton said in response to a question from a supporter about what his wife's "number one priority" would be as president.

A spokesman for the George H. W. Bush said Tuesday afternoon the former president supports his son's foreign policy and has "never discussed an ‘around-the-world-mission’ with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton." (Click here for the full statement)

Clinton and the elder Bush, rivals in the 1992 presidential election, have grown chummy in recent years, often traveling and appearing at public events together. In 2005, they started a charity to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

UPDATE: The Republican National Committee issued this statement in response to Clinton's comments:

"In 2009, a Republican president will be working with our friends and allies abroad to continue to keep our nation safe," said RNC spokesman Danny Diaz. "The American people expect our leaders - both current and former - to present serious solutions to the very real challenges confronting our nation."

– CNN South Carolina Producer Peter Hamby

Ex-presidents should stay out of primary elections.

Does not seem too outrageous but it goes to show how they actually work together. Clinton and Bush Sr. know darn well they are the worst and most power hungry presidents in US history next to the current.

Yes, yes. We all need Bill Clinton to "repair our reputation abroad". It is doubtful that H.W. will participate in any such mission. Besides, Hillary will not have the chance to dispatch such a team when she is still a senator on January 20, 2009. Keep dreaming Dems!

Clinton looks more and more like WC Fields. He is a pathetic, self-absorbed crook. He and his hideous wife should go back to the hills of Arkansas. GHW Bush should immediately distance himself from this pig.

Ever wonder why it's "Hillary '08", not "Clinton '08"?
She will not be "President Hillary", you know. She will be (and who really wanted this exactly?) "President Clinton".
That so many people have fallen for this campaign ploy, forgetting that we'll have both "President Clinton and former President Clinton" in the White House, is a testament to the oblivion so many Americans inhabit.
Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton... But wait, no. It's Hillary, see? Sure. And look forward to headlines like, "President Hillary defends permanent American military bases in Iraq. Promises troop redeployment before re-election bid."

How is Hillary promising change if she is going to bring in George Bush Sr. as part of her team? Crazy logic.

That's the father of the worst president of all time - the father of the one we are trying to bring change from!

    Enough Clinton, Enough Bush.

You're kidding me, right? Has Bill ever heard of Iran-Contra? What in the world makes Bubba think GHW Bush is welcome anywhere, except maybe Saudi Arabia?
I am suddenly sooo for Obama.

All you libs on this site, its really sad. This is clearly just another BOOF from Bill. he will get slapped down tomorrow for it in the media and Mr HW Bush will expose this for the lie it is. Do you really think Mr. HW Bush would conspire with any Clinton on anything that would deface his own family?

George Sr spends all day talknig about the new world order and wishing he was back at bohemian grove...Clinton is in on the exact same things, its almost not worth typing out to express the stuff that people should have no excuse not to know atleast 3 years ago...George SR worked for the CIA what else do you need to know not to trust someone, the CIA is worse then the FBI and George was the head of it...Now Clinton is coming out and wanting to work with him, this is the kind of thing Bill gets off on...Should be a good indicator of what Hillary will bring, a corporate dictatorship...Bush's presidency is the traning ground, someone has to pick up where he left off

What a disgraceful thing to say coming from a disgraced, impeached former president himself. It was George W. Bush who repaired America's reputation from 8 years of the US being a laughing stock because of the non-stop scandals and criminal empire emanating from the White House under Bill and Hillary Clinton. We are respected around the world – as evidenced by the fact there are growing free thinker countries out there like France, Germany and new europe. We are dissed by liberals around the world and that's all. Lets see how all those ungrateful guttersnipes act when we cut off their foreign aid. Then they'll change their tone. We feed and clothe the world and we are the leaders in green technology. The stuff they say about the US is slanderous!

I think it is completely appropriate. Bill Clinton didn't hesitate when Bush the Younger called for his help after the tsunami and Katrina.

Bush the Elder would help if President Obama, or President Edwards, or President Kucinich, or President Hillary Clinton were to ask, as well.

What a bunch of nonsense! Can he really belive all the things that he says? If he did not make visits for his son would he really make it for Hillary?

Excuse me Jessie from Burnsville, but you do not think Bill Clinton was Pro-war or Pro-Corporation??

Let me remind you of the Kosovo war where today there is incredible unrest in the region with Muslims pouring into the country and establishing terrorist-camps. This war has solved less than the Iraq war, unless you believe that burning Serbian villages and destroying orthodox churches in the name of islam is a good thing.

Bill signed NAFTA, which was Corporate America's dream and labor America's nightmare.

I know we all want Bill to make us feel good but don't you think it is time we finally were honest about who he is?

When will people realize that people criticizing Clinton are not doing it because of gender? I have a hard time believing anyone besides extreme fundamentalists would attack her because she's a woman. The only reason she's getting lots of negative attention is because she's a prominent figure and because she's doing things wrong. The only way people will leave her alone is if she stops doing things to attract peoples ire, such as lying.

BILL CLINTON is an American Criminal with a closet full of skeletons, corpses, drugs and diseases. Hillary is a closeted Lesbian or at least bisexual. Bill Clinton needs to go away and allow Americans to move this country forward without a Bush or a Clinton.
